I’ve noticed something when watching the midnights set from one of the LA shows (disclaimer, I’ve not actually been to a live show of this tour yet so all my observations are from other people’s videos).
Before going into her final song, Taylor ends her performance of Anti Hero with this pose which was immediately familiar to me as the famous Matilda pose from the poster for Matilda the Musical. The head position and even the light from the back…? I’ve seen that musical a ton of times but even if you haven’t I’d say it’s quite the resemblance.
So if Taylor is in fact referencing Matilda here, what is she saying? If you haven’t seen the show (or the film), this pose is from a song called ‘Naughty’ where Matilda tells the audience that even when you’re a child you can change your story by taking charge of your narrative and not playing by the rules. She ends the song in this pose while she sings the final lines which are:
‘But nobody else is gonna put it right for me,
Nobody but me is gonna change my story,
Sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty.’
So, if this is a deliberate Matilda pose, my interpretation would be that, like Matilda, Taylor is taking charge of her public narrative and is changing her story to show herself authentically. No more perfect princess stories. Naughty also references Romeo and Juliet and Cinderella, both also mentioned in Taylor’s songs, and emphasises how they were just victims of their ‘stupid fate’ and if they’d changed their story maybe they would have lived happily. So bottom line: the people in the story can take charge and change the ending. You don’t need a fairy godmother, you can be your own hero. Very Taylor to end a song called Anti Hero with such a defiant hero pose 😉
Another thing I noticed that solidified that thought for me, is that the giant Taylor on the screen visuals balls her hands into fists and yells at where Taylor is standing performing before she turns and screams at the audience.
I’ve never actually seen a video of the full screen visuals during this number, because people tend to film Taylor walking around on stage which is ironic, because I think it is exactly the point she’s trying to make that we’re all too distracted by the glittery performance to notice the giant screaming in the background.
That’s my (rather long) rambling on the Anti Hero performance. And that was just one song, I swear, when I get to see the full show, I’ll have pages of notes! Sorry (not sorry) 🤭
Saw Metallica today. This was my look
first oreo, now duolingo comes out as a kaylor 😂
Stealing this outfit for the summer
(Also... has she been wearing the same bag?)
this is how i dress when i want people to speculate on my sexuality
disclaimer: this is my personal take on it. feel free to add onto this theory if i’ve missed anything!
so… has Karlie Kloss already heard 1989 tv? could Thrills be a vault track? was her attendance at the eras tour planned by taylor and herself?
“thrills 💙🎧🔁” -> blue heart emoji (blue = 1989), all blue outfit, headphones & loop emojis… could Thrills possibly be a vault track on 1989 Taylor’s Version?
she reveals the release date to be 10/27, the same release date as 1989 (stolen version).
this is the first (public) Kaylor interaction in 6 years. here she is seen happily taking pictures with fans. Reminder, she was a very important figure during the 1989 era.
it’s just too perfect to be a coincidence.
Karlie and Taylor took this infamous road trip, which was pretty much the birth place of some of the most popular kaylor references/theories.
this is what pops up on google… a song called Big Sur… by a band called The Thrills… interesting.
on their California road trip, taylor showed 1989 (stolen version) to Karlie. she was the first person to hear the album in its entirety.
is history repeating itself? was Karlie Kloss the first person to hear 1989 (taylor’s version)? is Thrills a vault track? why do so many things line up? what does it all mean? so. many. questions.
btw this is so unserious and absolutely insane."cruel summer" was literally released 4 years ago
the taylor vs selena reaction images from tonight are so funny like girl
Observations from lurking:
It amazes me how the know-it-all swifties vying for the title of Taylor’s favorite fan bestie on the former bird app have no idea how PR works (not that I’m an expert) but were world-renowned scholars about it back in May.
From what I gather by their logic, it’s PR (or “clout chasing”) when it’s someone they don’t like or who they no longer like. Remember how Toe was the greatest thing since sliced bread for 6 years and her “savior”? Now he’s a “jobless loser” who “didn’t let Taylor bejeweled”. Lol
The comment that irks me the most is one where someone said:
“They’re the last people to need a PR relationship”
Again…walk with me here. Grab a jacket because those fall temps are hitting in some places. Plus, aesthetic. lol
Travis, an NFL player, signed with CAA in May for representation off the field. Who is Travis Kelce outside of the NFL? He isn’t going to play football forever. Athletes build brands just as musicians and actors/actresses do.
He mentioned the friendship bracelet thing on his podcast in July. It got attention.
So what would his off the field representation do? Capitalize on it. It’s like when someone goes viral doing something funny—all of a sudden, they’re scoring brand deals, etc. because some company sees a way to profit from it.
Why would they capitalize on the bracelet story? To build his platform.
How do they capitalize on it? By emphasizing the fact that he went to the one of the biggest tours this year by one of the biggest artists of the year.
Because their job is to secure endorsement deals, etc. for him. They make money when he makes money. If they aren’t doing their job to his standards, they get fired. If they get fired, the money stops coming from him.
Their website literally says:
In addition to draft preparation and contract negotiation, we provide elite athletes with top-of-the-line marketing services. Our commitment to client service is reflected in everything we do.
Since CAA represents top talent across film, television, broadcasting, music and digital, we can create one-of-a-kind opportunities and partnerships for football clients.
Ask yourselves—how much have you ever heard about Taylor during an NFL game or even in the same sentence as the NFL before this? Only that she turned down the half time show, right? Or if someone was trying to be funny and make a joke about her at her expense.
However, after the rumors started, all you heard were puns about her in reference to who? Travis.
All the headlines today have done what? Mentioned how Travis “pursued” her as if it were some decades long mission, when this all came about from a story he told…in July.
Watch. You will see articles about “who are Travis & Jason Kelce” or “Who is Donna Kelce”—again, building the platform and introducing him to an audience outside of football.
After he originally told the bracelet story, he had pretty much left it alone.
Until recently. Comical.
We know Taylor isn’t trying out for the NWSL or WNBA anytime soon. She really only gets a male sports fan audience and she doesn’t even really need that.
Yes, I’m over analyzing. I tend to do that and fully admit it. I’ve been on several hills by myself, quite comfortably. L’s and all.
Btw, there’s even an article about Sophie and Taylor’s dinner outings being a top tier PR move. So why can’t the same be said about this?
