This. So very much what I tend to headcanon about them. (Reminder for mysef: write down all that headcannon stuff. One day I will. Surely)
One important thing about my version of Simcoe is that he’s actually good friends with Andre. He’s friends with Andre, Tarleton, and de Lancey (the first two are true to history, the last one is inferred because de Lancey and Andre were friends). He enjoys spending time with them and doing the usual activities that soldiers do together; drink, gamble, play games, and make a mess of where ever they are (though Andre is the one that tends to clean up after them).
It’s also important to know that while Simcoe can be very vicious, this version is not vicious without cause. If he’s suspicious of someone, for whatever reason, he can easily be as ruthless as his Turn counterpart.
Simcoe also happens to have a soft spot for children and he ends up having nine children with his wife, Elizabeth Posthuma Simcoe. In his years during the Revolution, he wasn’t exactly a good with kids but he wasn’t a bad influence. He was just a bit awkward.
I still don’t understand his helmet but here’s ban in that pose from his portrait + lineless style ??
