@nessianweek | Day Two: Yearning

“Yearning” always takes me to “saudade”. I argue that it is one of the many words that are contained in “saudade” far beyond “I miss you”. In Portuguese, it is a word that lacks definition, but is full of feeling. In this emotional amalgam that unites time, ignites the past, dilutes the present, adds, but also removes pain - all at the same instant, there is also the melancholy of incompleteness, linked by the memory of the deprivation of the presence or the distance of someone one desires. “Yearning” related to Nesta and Cassian takes me to the “saudade” that they both feel in Acofas, and the suffering of wanting, but not being able or allowing themselves to have, seeking that, in the liberation from the pain of this felt absence, what one loves may be present.
