can you write abt the Fish mafia dorm with a reader who loves to smooch their faces like seeing a dog and peppering kisses all over!!

OFC!! I love these kind of prompts đ
Pairings: Azul x Reader, Floyd x Reader, Jade x Reader(separate)
have a good read đș
Azul
Azul is so touched starved, and due to the bullying he probably doesnât expect affection in the first place. But that changes as soon as he gets a partner who canât not kiss him at least 5 times a day. You sure as hell distracted him from the Monstro lounge because you missed him.
â[reader]- Iâm working!â He would whine as you cupped his cheeks, your soft lips meeting his cheeks, then his forehead, landing on top of his own lips. A flushed Azul left standing in-front of your smug face. A grin making its way to your rather giggly face. Azulâs pout tryâs to make it seem as if he was actually upset, but deep down, you know he wasnât.
ËË [] ËË
Jade
He is quite used to being bothered by his brother, so when you give him genuine affection without expecting something, he would be a little surprised. But then again, he canât expect everyone to be like his brother. He would love random kisses between classes, because when the two of you are alone, he can reciprocate tenfold.
âmy, my~, you couldnât wait for the end of my shift?â Jade would tease lightly, his hands resting on your hips as you got on your tiptoes to kiss him. You pulled him aside while he was working his shift. Though, you only occupied him for 5 minutes, the thought of Azul chewing you two out wasnât a pleasant one.
ËË [] ËË
Floyd
Floyd would be ecstatic!! He loves squeezing people till they pop, but this time he gets rewarded for it. And letâs just say heâll be hugging you a whole bunch more for those kisses. He just canât get enough of that warm tingling feeling! It makes him feel all funny.. but the good kind of funny.
âShrimpy~! You missed a spot!â He drawled as you chuckled, going back to kiss the âemptyâ spot. He hugged your waist as he let you kiss his pale skin. He wonât admit it(he would), but he loves this little thing you do. But the way he clings onto you, tells you just enough.

You decide to work at Sam's for Valentine's Day and your crush just happens to hear a customer hitting on you. If they get arrested, can you be their alibi? AKA: This person has a death wish and you find out your crush might be jealous?
Note: Each one is random and some will be longer than others. If I made everyone the same length this thing would be MASSIVE and I would probably die.
Not proofread because of the length. Trying to get everyone done today. It's my last day off for a few.
Whatever part Ortho is in will be platonic, obvs.
Happy V-day!
Riddle likes to think he's made great strides not being angry but hearing some utterly disgusting joke about 'how much do you cost?' sends him like nothing else ever has. This guy is tall and so unimpressive, so plain, so average that Riddle can't really recall him at all. Maybe that's just the absolute fury blurring his vision. He knows he's not breathing but his chest isn't burning near as much as his face; the heat is spreading quick and he can feel it in his cheeks and neck. Temples pounding, his vaguely aware of the growl bubbling in his chest as it threatens to slip past his clenched teeth.
Ace calls it his teapot snarl.
Before Riddle knows it, he's flown off the handle and he's going off on a rant. The whole shop is quiet, people physically backing away as he just methodically unravels everything about this cretin from outfit, posture, presence, delivery, unoriginality--everything. Honestly, he doesn't even remember everything he said. The redhead doesn't even tune back into the sound of his own voice until he ends the onslaught with, "You've just paid twenty thaumarks to embarrass yourself but that pales in comparison to the fact that you thought you had a chance with them. You should be ashamed!"
The man slinks away, sad little bag dragging off the counter.
Whispers and giggles diffuse throughout the shop. He ignores the looks that come his way, using the time to come back to himself. Riddle fixes his cute casual clothes, content with the fact you picked them out together. He catches sight of the matching rose clips on your outfit and in you hair and smiles softly. "A strawberry cookie and a cake pop, please." he clears his throat, fishing his wallet out of his pocket.
Sam had an assortment of sweets and he was going to capitalize on strawberry's popularity while he could. He saw you root through the display case, carefully considering the designs even though they were all supposed to taste the same (allegedly).
"Sure thing. Your total is 12 thaumarks. Thanks for stopping by Sam's Mystery Shop! Happy Valentine's Day!"
He hands you the thaumarks as you take the time to slide the I LOVE YOU cookie in his bag.

Deuce is an honors student! He is a good boy that's going to make his mother proud!
HE IS SO GOING TO PUNCH THIS MOTHERFUCKER IN THIS FACE!
His shoulders tense, fist clenching at his side. "Why, you think they're cheap? Something to be bought? What an insult!" his head snaps up as he stares down the slightly taller boy. Deuce's teal eyes turn a dark turquoise; the giddy glint of seeing you and chocolate eggs in one place turns to something sharp and steely. He hands the chocolate eggs to Ace, turning right back around to stare the creep down. Old habits die hard; he's grinding a fist into his hand.
"Aren't you the guy always complaining about limited time sales being unfair? Not my problem you missed the window." the guy scoffs, leaning back against the cashier counter. "Anyways," the guy tilts his head back and starts talking to you.
You look uncomfortable and angry that you can't handle this yourself. Professionalism and all.
"You may have caught the window but I'm about to show you the door." Deuce draws up on him with a quickness people have never seen. Not many people know about all the fights he used to get into. Gripping the guy's hair almost to the point of pulling it out, steering him like a panicked bull, Deuce all but chucks him out the front door of the shop. He turns around to walk back inside and buy his chocolate eggs but that spine-tingling feeling of someone fixing to take a cheap shot makes him pivot and nail the guy with a solid kick to the chest. The guy falls back on his butt, breath hitching.
Deuce scoffs and wipes his shoes on the step before going into the shop. The door is almost closed behind him when he hears a strained grunt. He's been in enough fights to know the guy is off the ground and making one last attempt to catch him from the back. More than done with this and just wanting his damn eggs and to say hi to you in all your festive lace, he shoulder checks the door like he's trying to shove Jack out of the lunch line (which he would NEVER, EVER DO).
The guy falls with a satisfying thud and Deuce tries his best to relax his face as he resumes his place in line. It's red from aggravation and the fact he's fishing for his thaumarks because he's forgotten what pocket he put it in. "Sorry about that," he tries to uncrumple the thaumarks a little before handing them to you. "And the face. My face. Not your face! Your face is fine! Like, you're not ugly! I just, uh--"
"Take the change, Deuce-y!" Ace is standing behind him, guiding his nervous body like a puppet. He makes Deuce grab the change and turns him around, shoving him away from the counter before he can make it any worse. "Now help me move this guy's body! He's out cold!"
---
Ace can only laugh when he hears that line. First of all, it's weak. Secondly, the dude must not have any faith in his game if the delivery depends on you being captive behind the counter. During work hours. With an obligation to be forward facing and listening to whatever he says.
"Why? You worried about your budget, buddy?" Ace laughs, hands laced together behind his head.
The guy snaps up, stick-straight. "N-No! I was just--" his face is blooming pink.
"People aren't products, bro. There's no discounts." Ace shakes his head.
"W-What I meant was, I want to take you on a date!" the guy turns back to you and flashes a big smile. All of Ace's pouty mutters fall on deaf ears. Not because he's being quiet, but because the guy is straight up ignoring him. He's not sure where the idea comes from--he'll blame it on an itchy hand--but he sneaks a couple of small candies in the guy's pocket. Sam's familiar top hat bobs into view, snaking around the shelves.
"DON'T FORGET TO PAY FOR THE STUFF IN YOUR POCKETS!" Ace felt confident in his sleight of hand tricks. It wouldn't be the first time he tricked NRC students. It's actually really easy to do. That works in his favor because if everyone can't get their story straight or agree on what they saw, he's a free man.
Sam materializes at the edge of the aisles and seems to stare into the boy's soul. "Young man, please step aside."
Ace looks like the cat that ate the canary as he moseys up to the counter and slaps the box of cherry cordials down. He buys a cherry sucker at the last second, not seeing it at first. "Thanks, Sweets!" Ace winks at you as he strolls out with the bag.
Sam nearly scares him out of his skin, leaning against the wood just outside the door. Ace finally feels the tug of shadows on his feet. "Speaking of sweets," Ace flinches and hides his ear with his blazer, groaning as Sam hooks an arm around his neck and pulls him into his chest sternly. "I understand your frustration, Little Imp. Young love is adorable in all it's wiles! But mark my words, Little Imp: if you lie about wrongdoings in my shop again, you will not come back. Clear?"
"Yes sir." Ace gulps.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Little Imp."

Trey isn't really surprised to hear what he just did. 'Boys will be boys', as the saying goes. Frankly, he's disappointed. He's heard smarter things come out of his little brother and sister.
He adjusts his glasses, mentally trying to relax the knot between his eyebrows.
Should he say something? Of course he wants to. It's you! He's been on the other side of the counter plenty of times and has had vivid daydreams of sticking a customer in a stand mixer. But, then again, he has a reputation to uphold and anything he does could reflect back on Riddle.
And send Riddle into a fit, giving him something else to handle.
The more he thought about it, the more he realized he'd have the element of surprise. People--especially men--don't cook enough to know how much arm strength it takes to lift twenty pound bags of flour on the regular. Or the stamina it takes to walk said bags from Sam's shop to Heartslabyul. Even the small five-pound bag of sugar in his basket would suffice as a weapon; the sugar was packed enough to hit like a brick if he lobbed it.
Trey's running the options through his head, almost settling on just saying 'how much for you to stop?' when he sees the end of a sucker rolling between the guy's teeth. Too easy, Trey pushes his glasses up on his nose, hand hiding his smile and the quiet incantation for "Paint the Roses".
All of a sudden the guy is gagging and running for the door. You and everyone else are wondering what the hell just happened. He doesn't come back in. One brave soul suggested he had a really bad gag reflex and the sucker did him in. Only Trey knows it was a mix of sour milk and the pungent soy sauce tart nightmare he tricked Riddle into making once.
"Just this, please. Oh! And what Sam had on hold for me." Trey hands you the sugar, relishing in the brush of your hands.
"Candied violets and a bag of sugar. Twenty thaumarks, please."
"Thanks." Trey smiles at you, laying the sugar flat so his delicate, delectable candied violets don't get crushed.
"Thank you." you smile brightly, handing him the change.

Cater wants to gag. Normally Valentine's confessions are cute and IN THE RIGHT SETTING pickup lines are amazing. This? This is a tragedy. Mostly because there is ZERO chemistry and you look #uncomfortable.
He's big on consent since he's always looking for collabs and people to pose with on Magicam so maybe that's why this scene bothers him. Aside from the fact that you're out of this guy's league, obviously. Like, it's really an insult to your time.
'How much do you cost?' Really? You're #priceless.
His brows furrow, lips thinning as he wonders what to do. He plays with the idea of Split Card and creating a small crowd of copies to boo and jeer the guy but the store would be even more packed than it already is. Cater's green eyes twinkle as it hits him. Turning his phone longways, he zooms in on the guy and tells him to keep going because he's live on Magicam. "Don't worry! I've already got all the V-day tags on there! Everyone will see it!"
He's friends with practically everyone at NRC so this guy will be seen by everyone.
Something sick and unfriendly and satisfied swirls in him as the guy's face pales in real time. If he zooms in a little, he can get the beads of sweat in there. "I'll, uh--another time, okay?" the guy darts off and abandons his handful of candy at the register.
"Haul coming later! 'K, bye!" Cater sends a peace sign to the camera, smiling at his own face. He swipes the little chocolates into his basket nonchalantly. He's not even the biggest sweets person but those are his now!
"Gonna have a spicy Valentine's Day, huh?" you ring up the cups of spicy ramen.
"You know it!" he laughs.
"I get it. You have to balance out how sweet you are." you smirk up at him. "Twenty-four thaumarks, please."

Leona doesn't even know why he bothered to show up to Sam's. He could just send Ruggie to get whatever he wanted. The variety of jerky was somewhat tempting but he could just as easily take the bus and get a proper meal off campus. And yet, he stood there with a gloved hand in his pocket, tail swishing back and forth in mild agitation. His green eyes sweep over the winding line until they land on you at the front.
His cheeks warm a little and he scoffs at himself, pretending to pick through the hanging strips of sunflower seeds as the line moves. Every step gets him closer to this soft, powdery scent with just a hint of sweetness. He starts to blame it on all the chocolate and candy and sugary shit exploding out of every possible spot in the store but there's this unmistakable undertone of skin.
Your skin.
He's only caught the scent a million times while hiding from people in the Botanical Gardens. Or when he's forced to attend class, catching a hint of you in the halls.
Leona's not sure why he cares anything about you because you're not magical. You're not interesting.
You shouldn't be, but you are.
You're literally the only person he's ever met from another world. You have no context for the Sunset Savanna or the hierarchy of it. To you, everyone is impressive. He can be something to you.
Why does that matter? He doesn't even know. That's what he tells himself, anyways. You say you have no magic but Leona thinks you can read minds. The look you always give him isn't a pitying one, but a curious one that seeks to dissect him and force him to face everything he keeps shoved deep down inside himself.
Part of him is waiting for the day you pull the right thread and he comes undone in the way he knows he need but can't find the strength for. Somewhere in that knotted mess is his true feelings for you. The stuff he can't admit.
You stand admirably on your own two feet, roughing it out like Ruggie, but you're so far from the intimidating women of the Sunset Savanna. You're approachable and soft; you're built like prey but you have the quick thinking of a predator.
Something in your demeanor changes--your hands pause and flutter nervously--and he's on alert. He's careful to relax his grip lest he crush the box of protein bars for Jack. His ears sling forward and his eyes narrow as he catches that half-baked flirting attempt. Leona doesn't even bother to hide the sneer twisting his face.
Just the thought of you with that hopeful schmuck is nauseating.
Suddenly the scent of all the males around you is overwhelming. Disgusting.
"If you have to ask about the price, you can't afford it. Haven't ya ever heard that before?" Leona 'hmphs' triumphantly, one hand on his hip as he bends down slightly to stare the chump in the face. "Askin' about the price is tacky."
"Wh-what was my total again?"
All Leona had to do was stare at the back of the human's neck. Humans, much like prey animals, grew really squirmy when a predator stared at them too long. Or encroached on their space, much like he was doing. It was for the hell of it at this point.
Leona made a mental note of the guy's face as he scampered off like a terrified cub and looked forward to the day he could send a stray spelldrive disk in his direction.
"Hey Herbivore," Leona plunked the basket down unceremoniously.
"Hey Leona," you looked down at the random stuff in his basket, trying not to smile at what just happened. Something warm and--dare he say it?--proud welled up in his chest when he realized you were happy about him scaring the guy off.
The heart-shaped stickers he kept finding on everything when he got back to Savanaclaw helped, too.
----
Ruggie lived for the holiday specials at Sam's. He was a bit put out that he wasn't picked to staff the Valentine's shift but the in-store discounts were a small consolation. It'd be better if he could stack them with an employee discount but he'd take what he could get! His mouth started watering as soon as he entered, sniffing out deliciously fluffy donuts.
Hopefully people would be distracted with the lollypops and chocolates and leave his donuts alone!
He choked down the occasional nervous whine when people gravitated too close to the donut display, distracting himself with the decor and wondering what would be most profitable to flip. His eyes began to wander to the people in front of him; Ruggie tsk'd at how casual and unguarded they were. Ripe for the picking, he looked at their wallets and fistfuls of thaumarks just out in the open.
If he wasn't worried about being banned from Sam's and losing some gigs he'd--
"How much do you cost?"
EXCUSE ME?! Ruggie freezes, eyes going wide and ears twitching when he hears that. The dude said that and LIVED?
Oh, right. You're not a Savanna girl. The girls back home would beat him up and make him pay them to stop. Or just smack the shit out of him hard enough to put him in a coma. Maybe break his jaw so he can't drop anymore awful lines.
Women are to be respected! Not treated like something you can purchase!
Given that you weren't a Savanna girl and were bound by the rules of 'I'm currently on the clock', Ruggie took things into his own hands. You could just treat him later!
"Laugh with Me!" Ruggie hisses, backing into the closest display. It was a little bump to him but far more to the guy up front. He waved his arm around, skimming the bags of gummy candies while the guy at the register knocked down a whole tower of balloons on a stick. Bending over just enough to line the guy's head up with the counter, Ruggie lunges forward.
WOMP!
Oh it was so satisfying. The guy is hopelessly, helplessly stunned. He gathers his bearings and Ruggie slides his foot out; the guy loses his footing and slams into the counter again.
Only two times before he gives up? Kind of weak-willed, Ruggie thinks with a little smirk as he side-steps the disoriented guy and waits patiently to check out. Sam tends to him while you get the donuts he's been craving.
They'll taste even better because they smell like you. Happy Valentine's Day to him!
-----
Jack is usually very stoic but a lot of people mistake his stoic observation for irritation. He would blame it on his intimidating physique but he's not sorry and takes great pride in his appearance. He's a beastman--a Howl!--he's supposed to be intimidating! Intimidating appearance aside, Jack is also a very helpful soul.
A good boy, if you will.
The only reason he's in Sam's is on Ruggie's behalf. He was tasked with picking up a few things and was more than happy to help out his senior. They were from the same dorm, after all! Practically a pack! You have to help your pack!
He's not really bothered by the amount of people, more focused on keeping his tail out of people's way and making sure he doesn't knock anything over. All at once, the atmosphere changes a little. There's a hint of sour in the air and a noticeable hike in someone's pulse.
It's your pulse. You look...distressed? Why are you distressed? Where is the threat?
Whatever it was, he missed it and he's cursing himself.
His ears swing forward as he catches bits and pieces of conversations. Some people are complaining the guy is taking too long, other people are laughing at his crappy pickup line. Some people are wondering if it's going to work.
This was a weak display if he ever saw one. The guy didn't even look confident in himself! All of your body language has now firmed up into rejection but the guy's not getting the hint. He's trying the 'oh, c'mon!' thing his siblings do when they want to play.
You don't know it, but you've been feeding Jack when he trots by in wolf form. He likes to finish off his morning jogs in wolf form to really stretch his joints and obliques. It was supposed to be a one-off thing, him following the tantalizing aroma of food to your door. Your cooking is fantastic and while you don't know that you're a pack mate, you're a pack mate!
You're just a pack mate who feeds him and gives him occasional pets. And these to die for scratches that he'd kill to feel with his real skin instead of fur. Any touch would be fine, really. Not that you'd ever know.
Jack doesn't even know he's growling until people start moving out of his way. The growl crescendos as he walks towards the guy. Tail bristling, Jack opens his mouth to show off sharp canines. "Get lost! They're not interested in you! They're just trying to work!"
As expected, the guy tucks tail and runs. Jack snorts, licking his lips that have suddenly become dry. His ears don't know what to do, caught between catching all the murmurs behind him and wanting to press down in embarrassment.
It's quiet but he hears it. "Thank you, Jack."
"Don't mention it," he crosses his arms, looking everywhere but you as you scan his items. He was avoiding looking at you directly but he notices you slip a few extra beef sticks into his bag. He blushes.
Yeah, don't mention that either.
Floyd Leech x gn!reader, pre-relationship

You have a crush on Floyd, Floyd has a crush on you... not that either of you admit to it in a way that the other understands.
Word Count: 6110
Okay so remember how we looked past the intro on my Cloudcalling fic and it got better a little ways in? Yeah? I need yall to trust me again, there's like two sections of lead up into the good stuff that I couldn't figure out how to rework to fit better but they're a little too tied into the plot to get rid of. Yall trust me? This is heavily influenced by various other Floyd fics and it's also my tribute to the merform gatcha gods for my final ten pull, wish me luck!
Ace and Deuce had finally gotten used to how blunt you often were, more often showing annoyance with their actions than cracking a smile, but they knew you cared about them. So when the anemones sprouted on their heads, they werenât surprised to see you rolling your eyes and crossing your arms but you agreed to help them out to the best of your abilities the next day at lunch. You already had the Headmage on your ass about fixing this problem, but you werenât about to leave your best friends hanging.
After you followed Azul around for a day with Jack, you were approached by the twins. When they turned their attention from the anemones to you, your friends watched as your eyes went wide. You looked... nervous? For the first time since they met you, you looked nervous about a non life threatening situation. Which was fair, the Leech twins were intimidating. Floyd teased you about the look on your face, dubbing you Shrimpy. Jack was the only one to notice the shift in your demeanor, namely the blush that rose to your cheeks for a moment as they kept speaking to you. He said nothing, figuring you were just uncomfortable about being singled out. When you went to the Mostro Lounge that night, you were surprisingly accommodating when the twins volunteered you and Jack to help with orders. You didnât need any direction or instruction past how the tables were set up, you just rolled up your sleeves and got to work.
Jack noticed the blush on your cheeks again when the twins confronted you outside the Atlantica Memorial Museum. While Deuce and Ace were going pale upon seeing the two, you were red? He hoped with fury. He noticed it again after you were all electrocuted by the contract in Azulâs office, when Floyd threatened to squeeze you all. He watched you hang in the doorway a moment as you all escaped, he was the only one to see your wide smirk as you blew them all a kiss goodbye before joining the rest in their escape. When you finally got the photo out of the museum and got cornered by the twins again, Jack swore you looked happy to see them, grinning wide when you heard Floyd call out Shrimpy. That was because of your plan, right? Right?
The boys didnât have to know about your little crush, the way your mind blanked whenever Floyd got a little too close. So when he swam in a tight circle around you, his tail fin brushing against your arms as he wrapped around and away, it was all you could do to not start twirling your damn hair. You sounded a little too eager to your own ears when you took up Floydâs suggestion of âtagâ until the sun went down, hoping the others just saw it as you being thrilled that your plan was working. As with most magical fights, the best you could do was call shots. During the overblots, you found blunt objects you could physically attack with, but underwater when your movements were so restricted anyways? No shot. You had just yanked Deuce out of the way of an incoming spell, and he turned to thank you just in time to see Floyd swimming up from behind, much faster than anyone expected. You barely had time to turn around at your friendâs fearful expression when Floyd crashed into you, wrapping his arms around you and swimming away. The way he was holding you pinned your arms to your sides, and he started absolutely cackling as he started for the surface. You were much too close, the skin contact, the way you were pressed against his chest. Your face was bright red at this point. You held your breath as he broke the surface of the water, the potion still in effect, and with his full strength coupled with the momentum, chucked you into the air. You wanted to yell, but continued holding your breath until you were back in the water. When you dropped back under, you were laughing, loud and delighted. It absolutely threw Floyd off as he swam to grab you again, holding you by the waist this time, twirling the two of you around as he swam. You yelped when he grabbed you, still laughing as he moved.
âShrimpyy~ whereâs the picture?â He drawled lazily, as if he werenât swimming at full speed, twisting around with you in his arms.
âI donât have it!â You laughed, eyes squeezed shut, holding onto his arms.
âEh? Are you having fun?â He asked with a large, sharp grin, leaning in closer and squeezing you a little tighter.
You didnât have time to respond before he dropped you, practically bowling you into your classmates. You landed on top of Ace, who tumbled into Jack before you were all in a heap on the ground, you still chuckling and dizzy.
..
Three overblots in the bag and you were finally getting used to the way things would just go back to normal afterwards, like there wasnât just a massive, life-threatening fight. Jack handed you the photo from the museum, announcing your victory despite there not being a contract anymore. When you held up the picture, Floyd came over and draped himself on your right shoulder.
âAha ha, that takes me back! This is a picture from our school field trip.â He announced as he leaned in closer to get a better look at it, pointing at the kids in the picture. âMe 'n Jade are right here. Aaand...â he dragged his finger over with his drawn out word, âsee the kid sulking way off in the corner? That's baby Azul!â
Azul screamed as you pulled the picture closer to your face to look and cooed about how cute he was. âDONâT LOOK! PLEASE DONâT LOOK!â
He made to leap forward to snatch the picture, only to be blocked by Jade, now hovering near your left side with a sly grin. âWell well, Azul, you sure are spirited all of a sudden.â Jade practically purred. âShouldn't you get a little more sleep? Considering how far things have already gone, it would be easier for you to let this one go.â
Floyd took the picture from you to hold out for the others to see, not removing himself from your shoulder as he did. Azul screamed again as everyone looked at the picture, making their own remarks on baby Azul.
..
Jade noticed how close his brother was getting to you, he would do this fairly often. Find someone he thought was interesting, cling to them for a week or so, then get bored and never interact with them again. But the weeks were going by with no sign of him letting up. Floyd sulked when he couldnât find you at Ramshackle after a few days into the winter holiday, not knowing you were being essentially held captive in Scarabia. When you and Grim crash landed in the Mostro Lounge, Floyd scooped you up off the floor, your feet dangling in the air as he squeezed you and twirled you around. He only put you back down when the Scarabia students threatened them, and Jade watched as he stepped protectively in front of you. Interesting. After the fight, Jade patched up the cuts and scrapes youâd gotten when you crashed into the lounge. He sat you in a stool at the bar, Floyd jumping up to sit on the counter behind you, despite Azulâs protesting, as you told them what happened. You had almost gotten used to Floyd coming up behind you and resting his chin on top of your head at this point, so it was no surprise that he did it when you were trying to explain.
More time passed than Jade expected. Youâd dealt with Jamil and Vilâs overblots and Floyd was still following you around. He noticed his brother snap at anyone else who got too friendly with you, and watched as he brought you little gifts nearly every day. A tooth here, a scale there, he even found you a pearl once. He followed you around more often than not, to the point where Azul wrote up an employee contract for you to get paid to sit in the Lounge so Floyd would show up for work and stay for his entire shift. Most of your classmates avoided you like the plague, even when Floyd wasnât around. Even your friends were almost too intimidated to hang around. Almost. They stuck around when Floyd was busy with something else, often asking if you were okay, if you were in danger. You always waved them off, claiming that Floyd was mostly harmless. Interesting.
You were in the lounge, getting paid to sit at the bar so Floyd would do his job. Youâd tried to sit in the booths before, but it was apparently too far away for Floydâs liking as he would wander out of the kitchen and join your table, food orders piling up while he just sat with you. So Azul moved you to the bar, designating a seat for you where Floyd could see you through the window. You pretended not to notice when Azul would grumble about this âsilly infatuationâ Floyd had. You knew he liked having you around, he had mentioned that he thought your reactions were hilarious, but you wouldnât go as far as to call it an infatuation. Sure, you flirted here and there, but you just kinda figured that was part of his whole vibe. You were working on your homework at the bar when there was a clatter from the kitchen, followed by Floyd letting out a long string of curses and the telltale bang that heâd just kicked something. You glanced around quickly, trying to see if Jade or Azul were nearby to go in and check on him, only to find them both busy with their tables. You hopped off your bar stool and wandered to the kitchen door, pushing it open just enough to poke your head in. Floyd was standing in the middle of the room, rubbing at the side of his head and pouting, looking down at something in his hand.
âFloyd?â You called out, catching his attention. âYou okay?â
He looked over quickly, pouting even harder as he did. âShrimpyy...â He groaned as he wandered over, pulling you into the kitchen proper and draping himself over your shoulders like he usually did. He stared you in the eyes for a moment before looking down at what was in his hand again, prompting you to also look down. Shining blue scales and jump rings in a pile in his hand. You looked back up at him, tilting your head slightly to see that the only part of his earring that was still there was the post itself.
âOh, what happened?â You asked, reaching up to take the post out of his ear.
âI caught it on that damn shelf,â he huffed, glaring over at it like he could set it on fire, âAzulâs never fucking in here, whyâs it matter to him if I move the damn thing higher up so I donât bash my fucking head?â
His ear wasnât bleeding, as far as you could tell. You dropped the post into your palm and held your hand under his for him to pass you the rest of the pieces. He just stared at you for a moment before tilting his head in confusion.
âIâve got a needle nose back at Ramshackle,â you explained, not moving your hand away, âI can bring it back to you in the morning.â
He just blinked at you for a moment before carefully dumping the rest of the pieces into your hand. âCareful with it, our mom made us these before we started middle school.â
âIâll be careful.â You promised, extracting yourself out from underneath him.
He just watched as you gently folded your fingers around the pieces and walked out of the kitchen, too much going through his head to make a bigger reaction. You headed back to your spot to gather up your things, catching Azulâs attention from where he was making a coffee.
âDone with your work?â He asked from behind the bar.
âNo, something came up,â you shrugged, slinging your bag over your shoulder, still gently cradling the earring pieces to your chest, âIâll see you tomorrow.â
He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and concern as he watched you walk out of the lounge. Heâd seen you come out of the kitchen... He put the coffee down and walked back into the kitchen, where Floyd was still standing in the same spot, rubbing at his earlobe.
âWhat was that?â Azul asked, crossing his arms.
âI think Iâm getting married.â Floyd responded casually before turning back to the prep table.
âWhat does that mean?!â
Youâd had to go to Samâs to pick up more jump rings, one of them having gotten lost or snapped when the earring broke. Sam really did stock everything, and you were glad for it. It didnât take long at all to put the pieces back together. Three scales, the tracks still in place, it was just the jump rings that had stretched open with the strain. You decided to just replace the rings all together rather than risk the metal fatigue on such a small wire. You finished it with enough time to finish your homework before bed. The next morning before classes, you headed over to Octavinelle. You were hoping to find Floyd in the student lounge, or maybe Mostro, but he wasnât anywhere to be seen. Youâd been to the twinsâ room before when Floyd insisted on showing you a new pair of sneakers heâd gotten for basketball, so you knew where it was. You werenât particularly excited about dropping in unannounced so early in the morning, however. You wandered down the hallway towards their room, other students giving you a wide berth as you passed, muttering behind your back. Ever since Floyd started following you around, it was always the Octavinelle students that had the most to talk about, and they werenât exactly subtle. But you ignored it as you always did as you approached the twinsâ door and knocked, itâs not like their gossip could bother you unless you let it, right? You only had to wait a moment before the door swung open revealing Jade, hair half ironed and a confused look on his face. The look only lasted a moment though, quickly turning to a smirk before he turned to go back to his desk, leaving the door open for you. You stepped inside and closed the door behind you, Jade sitting down to return his focus to his flat iron. Floyd was still asleep on his side of the room, face down, tangled up in his blankets and hoodie, one arm dangling off the bed. You walked over and set your bag down next to the bed, leaning down to put a hand on his shoulder and shake him gently. You didnât get the chance to shake. The second your hand hit his shoulder, his eyes flew open, the hand that had been brushing the floor shot up to grab you by the lapel of your jacket. It only took a second for him to adjust, his murderous look quickly shifting to a wide, sleepy grin as he let go of your jacket.
âShrimpyy~â He crooned through a yawn, grabbing your arm to pull you on top of him as he rolled onto his back.
âFloyd--!â You yelped as he yanked you into bed, arms coiling tightly around you.
He hummed pleasantly, nuzzling his face into your shoulder. âYou should wake me up every morning, youâre much nicer than Jade~!â
âIf only it were always that easy to wake you.â Jade chimed in.
âYa donât haffta dump cold water on me, ya know.â Floyd snapped, arms tightening around you as he turned his head to glare at his brother.
âSometimes that is the only way, Floyd.â Jade grinned wickedly at him before turning off the flat iron and standing up. âDo try not to stay here all morning, we still have classes to get to.â
âYeah, yeah.â Floyd huffed, burrowing his head back into your shoulder as Jade left the room.
Once Jade was gone, you pushed up slightly from Floydâs grasp, pushing his face to the side to get better access to his ear. He laughed at your antics until he felt you slide his earring back into place, one hand darting up to feel the fixed jewelry. He looked shocked for a moment as he turned his head back to you before laughing in delight, both arms coiling around you and twisting you to lay next to him on the bed between him and the wall, the two of you now facing each other on your sides, your legs still draped over his. He didnât say anything as he nuzzled back into your shoulder, and for a moment you thought it was just him being sweet, until you felt his teeth dig into the bend of your neck.
âFLOYD!â You shrieked, instinctively grabbing the hair at the base of his skull and yanking.
It did little to deter him, his sharp teeth digging further into the soft skin of your neck painfully. After what felt like a very long moment, you felt his teeth slide back out, replaced by his tongue dragging over the wound. The sensation made you shiver as he did it again, pain rippling up your neck.
âWhat the hell was that for?!â You asked as he finally pulled back, a little bit of your blood on his bottom lip.
âWhat, I canât say thank you?â He asked in a teasing tone, his hands running down your back as he moved in closer, eyes locked with yours. âYer all red~â
âThat hurt, Floyd.â You snapped.
âHm... could bite me back, itâd make ya feel better.â He yawned again before flashing his teeth at you in a grin that felt slightly menacing.
âNo thanks.â You huffed, moving to sit up again. He gave you a confused look as you climbed back over him to get off the bed. âI gotta meet up with Jamil before class starts, Iâll see you later.â
He sat up, watching after you as you left the room, looking more and more confused the further away you got. He waited a few minutes to be sure you were gone before he rolled out of bed, not bothering to get dressed before heading to Azulâs office. He was pouting when he slammed open the door, startling Azul away from his paperwork, Jade casually looking up from a page he was reviewing.
âAh, Floyd. Did everything go well?â Jade asked, the question alone making Floyd kick over a chair before flopping onto the couch.
âNo.â He spat out, curling up on his side, facing the back of the couch.
âWhat in the world are you two on about now?â Azul sighed heavily, glancing between the two of them.
âWell, whyever not?â Jade asked, ignoring Azulâs question.
âThey fixed my earring!â Floyd grumbled, turning his head to display it. âAnd they didnât even bite me back!â
Azul and Jade exchanged glances for a second, before Azul chimed in. âYou... bit Yuu?â
âDuh!â
âWell, they are a human, perhaps they donât--â
âIâm sure it just startled them, and they will return your affections when they are ready.â Jade said over Azul, hoping more than anything to just watch the chaos unfold.
âBut they fixed my earring!â He whined, pouting at his brother, apparently not having heard Azul.
âThey are human, itâs likely humans take things slower.â
Azul threw his hands up slightly, glancing around as if to confirm with someone else that he was actually in the room.
âFiiine...â
Things changed slightly after you fixed Floydâs earring. Heâd bit you really hard, it was likely going to end up leaving a scar behind. But every day afterwards, you caught him staring at you more, as if expecting you to do something. After a few days of him staring so intently, you ended up attempting to do a backflip on the grass in the courtyard. Attempt being the operative word. You got most of the way through it before belly flopping into the ground. It was better than you thought you would do, and it made him bust out laughing as he jogged over to check on you. Every day his stare seemed to get more and more intense, but not much else changed. His gifts were coming a little more frequently, he even made you a little necklace with a chain, some wire, and another pearl heâd found, and he was still hovering enough to keep most of your classmates away. Almost a week out and your neck was still sore and bruised. You were eating lunch in the cafeteria with the freshman group when you turned your neck wrong, catching a painful spot and causing you to reach up and massage it.
âYou alright?â Epel asked when you accidentally bumped him with your elbow.
âYeah, sorry, just hurts.â You grumbled.
âWhat does?â
âFloyd fucking bit me last week.â You sighed, rolling your shoulder a bit as you put your hand down. âLike, really hard.â
âDude, he bit you?â Ace asked through an amused snort, getting you to glare at him.
â...How hard?â Jack asked hesitantly, Ace snickering behind his hand.
âHard enough to bleed, probably gonna scar.â You complained, popping the top button on your shirt and moving the collar of your shirt aside for them to see it. âJamil helped me clean it up, but even he thinks itâs gonna leave a mark.â
Jackâs eyes widened for a moment before he looked back down at his lunch, cheeks dusted pink and ears flattening backwards. You shook his reaction off as Epel examined it a little closer.
âIt doesnât look infected, at least.â He confirmed, still grimacing. âYa werenât kiddinâ though, that looks rough.â
âYeah, thatâs gonna scar.â Deuce agreed, turning back to his lunch as you covered the mark up again. âAt least you have a permanent reminder of NRC, even if you do go home.â
âGee, Iâm so incredibly thrilled.â You deadpanned, making him snort out a laugh.
Ace nudged Jack, who was still staring intently at his sandwich, with his elbow. âWhatâs up man? I know your puritanical beliefs donât allow you to view ankles or whatever--â you nearly cackled at the quip, â--but itâs alright! Theyâre properly covered now!â
âYou make me sound like a whore for showing my sinful neck.â
âYeah, you heard me.â
You snickered before turning to Deuce and Epel. âImagine if I had to show this shit to Rollo.â
âI think heâd die of a heart attack the second you opened your collar.â Deuce laughed, Epel chuckling along.
âLikely guyâd pop an aneurysm âfore a boner.â Epel chimed in.
The three of you going off on your tangent kept Jack from explaining what a bite like that meant. He figured youâd find out eventually. The topic changed entirely for the rest of the lunch period. Before lunch was over, however, someone plopped down beside you, cutting off any remaining conversation.
âHey Floyd.â You said without having to look up, still working on the last bits of your lunch as he leaned on your shoulder with a sound that almost resembled a purr.
Ace and Deuce were already on their feet, quickly saying their goodbyes before scrambling away, obviously still traumatized by the contract fiasco. Epel patted your shoulder, careful of your injury, and said goodbye before leaving as well. Jack stayed for a moment, locking eyes with Floyd.
âWhatâs up, Sea Urchin?â Floyd drawled lazily, a dangerous smile on his face.
Jack shook his head and stood up. âNothinâ. See ya, Yuu.â
You waved to Jack as he left before looking at Floyd, who looked highly satisfied. âWell, you chased off all my friends. Whatâs up?â
âMeet me in the mirror chamber after class, okay?â He asked, sounding significantly more like a demand.
âWhat for?â
âItâs a surprise~â
You arrived at the mirror chamber not long after classes let out, having to drop your stuff back at Ramshackle before going. The second you walked through the door, Floyd was in front of you, shoving a potion into your arms.
âDrink this!â He said excitedly before jogging over to the dark mirror.
You examined what he handed you, one of Azulâs water breathing potions, and quirked an eyebrow at him as you moved to join him by the mirror.
âFloyd, where are we going?â You asked, trying not to get exasperated by his antics.
âLess thinkinâ more drinkinâ!â He commanded, popping the cork out of the bottle for you.
He nearly lifted it to your lips before you pulled it out of his reach. You sighed heavily before chugging down the disgusting potion while Floyd nearly bounced with excitement. Once the bottle was empty, he grabbed you by the hand and pulled you after him into the mirror, the dizzying transition into the water causing you to squeeze you eyes shut to ward off the vertigo. Once you opened your eyes again, Floyd was in his natural form, absolutely beaming at you before wrapping his arms around your waist and speeding away.
âFloyd!â You laughed as he spun you around, clearly heading in a specific direction. âWhere are we going?!â
âYouâll see, quit askinâ!â He laughed back at you, twisting in the opposite direction to wrap his tail fin around your legs for a moment.
You rolled your eyes but said nothing, holding onto his shoulders as he cut through the water. You could barely see the scenery of the ocean floor as it whipped past, occasionally able to catch glances of schools of fish as they scattered away from Floyd. The further you went, the darker it got, until you were just able to make out glowing speckles along his arms, up his shoulders, around his neck. It looked like the night sky and you couldnât stop staring, even as he slowed down. You were finally broken out of the trance when he stopped, laughing as he looked down at you.
âYer like a fish, distracted by anything shiny.â He teased as he set you down.
Now that you were able to look around, you could see that he brought you to a cave. Heâd sat you in the middle on a nicely angled stone in the only patch of light that was filtering in from a hole at the top that was letting in the sun.
âWhere are we?â You asked, turning to look at him again, only to find heâd disappeared.
Your head whipped around as you tried to spot him. He wouldnât just leave you here, right?
His laughter bounced off the cave walls, making it impossible to pinpoint where he actually was. âA cave. Donât worry, I scoped it out, ainât nothinâ livinâ in here.â
âOkay... Why are we here, then?â
You spotted the bright flecks of his skin above you on a shaded overhang, lounged out on his stomach on the very edge, glowing yellow eye peering down at you. He grinned as you made eye contact, but you could only see it in the way his gaze narrowed.
âCause I figured out why ya wouldnât bite me.â He explained, not moving from his spot. âToo many people around ya, all the damn time! No way to getcha alone back at school, so...â his arms fanned out as if displaying the cave, âta-da! Nobodyâs gonna interrupt us here!â
âYou... want me to bite you?â You asked, confused, watching his proud expression blink into blank.
âYeah?â
â...Why?â
He blinked a few more times before propping himself up on his elbows to look at you better. You could see him a little better now, he almost looked offended.
âWhatâdya mean why?â He asked, hostility creeping into his tone as he leaned over the edge of the overhang. âDo ya not wanna bite me?â
You paused, trying to search your memory for any clue as to what he would be talking about and coming up blank. âWhy would I?â Is what came out after a moment.
His brows furrowed as he pushed off the overhang, swimming over to you. He circled you slowly, searching your expression with each pass as his tail fin got closer and closer to holding you in place. When he finally stopped, his tail was wrapped loosely around you, almost like a threat, as he looked you dead in the eyes. He looked upset, confused... hurt?
âWhy wouldnât you?â He asked back with an angry pout. âYa fixed my earring, didnâtcha? I didnât even ask, ya just did it.â
You blinked rapidly at the whiplash, getting even more confused. âWhat does that have to do with anything?â
His confused expression matched yours now, less upset than before as he moved in closer, examining your eyes for a moment before pulling back again and furrowed his brows like he was about to crack the code. Before you could ask any of the hundred questions dancing around your head, he popped the top button on your shirt and yanked your collar aside to see the bite mark. He met your eyes again, pointing at the mark.
âWhat is this?â It sounded more like he was explaining shapes to a toddler.
âThatâs where you bit me.â You snapped, swatting his hand away only for him to lean in closer, tail tightening around you.
âWhat does it mean?â
You gave him another confused look as he stared you down steadily. Your eyes drifted away for a second as you thought about it, shaking your head as you met his eyes. âYou said it was to say thank you? Helluva thanks, by the way, shit hurts.â
He looked confused again, searching your expression for any hint that you were messing around. Finding none, he narrowed his eyes at you for a second before smiling and tilting his head to the side.
âShrimpy doesnât know what the bite means~â He teased, tail squeezing you a bit tighter before letting go as he resumed his lazy circles around you. âBetcha didnât know what fixinâ my earring meant either, huh? Oh shit, you probably didnât know about our dance either!â
âWhat is happening right now...?â You sighed heavily, catching his eye every time he floated into your vision.
On one of his passes he scooped you up, moving to sit on the rock himself and placing you in his lap, one leg on either side of his tail. He grabbed you by the chin, tilting your head to the side to examine the bite closer as he laughed.
âThat day in front of the museum,â he started quietly, close to your ear, âwhen I grabbed ya and threw ya outta the water... you remember?â You nodded slowly, feeling him smile against your jaw. âYou thought it was fun, I thought that was real cute. That spinninâ that I did was flirtinâ, I was dancin' with ya.â
âWhat--?â
âSoâs all the little things I getcha...â His hands moved down to your waist, ignoring the question heâd interrupted. âI was gettinâ pretty confused why you werenât get me anything, til you fixed my earring...â He turned his head, lips brushing against your ear as he spoke. âSee, jewelryâs real important for us merfolk. Gettinâ jewelry usually means a lot, means ya really care if youâre outside the family. Like ya wanna stick around. I thought it was real weird that ya used my own earring, but yer also poor. I thought that was your way of sayinâ ya wanted to stick around...â You glanced at his earring, surprised Floyd of all people had put so much meaning behind what you thought was just a kind gesture. Different cultures, you supposed. He nipped at your ear as you tried to turn to look at him, a warning to stay where you were. âSâwhy I bit ya... Means youâre mine.â His fingers tightened on your waist. âThought thatâs whatcha meant when ya fixed it...â
Your heart pitched at the sad tone in his voice. You knew the two of you had been flirting, turns out you didnât know just how extensively. Your fingers flexed at his shoulders as he leaned the side of his head against yours, staring at the bite mark. Whatâs a bite, anyways? It got you where you ultimately wanted, which was dating Floyd. You sighed heavily, before leaning forward, and biting down as hard as you could on the same place heâd put yours. You heard his breath hitch before he broke into laughter, and you didnât stop until you tasted blood mixed with the salt water. When he started to bleed, he tugged at your hair, pulling you off him. He looked delighted as he met your eye, tail fin snaking up behind you and wrapping around your waist.
âAww, Shrimpyy~â He cooed, nuzzling his forehead against yours.
âCoulda just told me thatâs what that was about.â You scoffed, gently rubbing the area around the wound youâd created.
He shrugged, rubbing his nose against yours as he pulled you tighter against his chest. âNo backinâ out now~â He teased.
You rolled your eyes, about to quip back when he pulled you the rest of the way in, closing the distance. His lips were a lot softer than you expected as they moved against yours, sharp teeth nipping against your bottom lip when he grinned into the kiss. He tried to follow when you backed off, needing air, until he saw your hand fly to your neck. You needed air. He barely got out an âoh shitâ as he unraveled his tail before he took off with you in his arms, speeding out of the cave and shooting up towards the surface. Once you broke the surface, he gave you a second to catch your breath.
"I didn't grab another potion." He laughed. "How long can you hold your breath?"
You rolled your eyes again, pulling him into another quick kiss. Quick turned sour as Floyd pulled you in, and you had a feeling there would be no such thing as a quick kiss with him.
::
âAh, there you are, Yuu!â Jade called out as he approached you in the hallway, a delighted smile on his face.
âHey Jade, whatâs up?â You asked, ignoring how your friends shuffled off to the side to avoid Jadeâs attention.
âI just wanted to be the first to congratulate you on your nuptials.â He beamed down at you.
âMy what?â
âI was surprised when Floyd told me, of course,â he continued, ignoring your question, âit all happened very fast, and the two of you are so young, but isnât that just the way of things?â
You looked desperately to your friends, Ace and Epel snickering and muttering to each other, Deuce looked shocked, and Jack was just shaking his head. There was no help to be found from any of them.
âOur mother is asking after you,â he kept going, making your head spin as you tried to process the information, âand Iâm sure our father would also like to meet his new child-in-law--â
âChild-in-law?â You squeaked out.
â--so we will need to make arrangements for introductions.â He paused for a moment, tapping a knuckle against his chin as he thought. âThe two of you have stirred up quite a fuss, Iâm sure Mother will want to make plans for a more formal affair... Weâll have to see about getting a row boat...â
âWhy do we need a boat?â
âOi!â You didnât have time to turn towards the voice before a notebook sailed over your head, smacking Jade square in the face. When it dropped, so did Jadeâs serious expression, now sporting the usual mischievous grin that he had whenever he was messing with someone. Floyd came up beside you, resting an elbow on your shoulder as he did, glaring at his brother. âI just got âem hooked, donât be all weird and scare âem off.â
âWhat, I canât tease them anymore now that theyâre my sibling-in-law?â Jade drawled.
âLeast wait til I get Ma on board.â Floyd grumbled before stooping down and tossing you over his shoulder.
âFloyd, what does he mean ânuptials?ââ You asked quickly, Ace and Epel cackling at your expense as he carried you off. âWhat does he mean âin-law?ââ

MASTERLIST
Hey there! I loved giving Malleus a stone as an accidental proposal! It would make sense to me that mers would also see it as that! Could we possibly get one with Floyd Azul or Jade?
omg yes absolutely! Thinking about it, merfolk probably would also take it as a proposal! Especially with their culture being inspired by The little mermaid and she loved to collect things. I love this request! For those of you who haven't seen the Malleus part, it's linked below!

Accidentally proposing to Malleus with a rock
Floyd:
It was an innocent gesture. You wanted to give Floyd a rock to show you care about him. A simple gift that you thought he'd like. Well, you think he likes it a little too much.
When you gave the rock to Floyd, his eyes went wide, and he quickly smiled and pulled you into a tight hug (careful not to hurt you too much), "Awwww of course!"
He seemed so happy to get the rock, it honestly surprised you. Then he started lurking around you more. Like, hovering behind you and picking you up at random times to carry you around anywhere. When you asked, he said he had a right to carry and lurk now.
You also caught Jade snickering more than usual at you and Floyd, like he knew something you didn't. But both him and Floyd didn't elaborate. Instead, Floyd laughed and wrapped his arms around you, setting his head atop yours, "Silly silly~"
It wasn't until later when you visited the Mostro Lounge's VIP room that you got a hint of what was happening. Normally you'd just go there to hang out, but you'd noticed Azul was unusually frustrated today. When he saw you, it only seemed to set him off on a rant as he paced about the room.
"I can't believe this. Of all the things you could've given, and to all the people...I can't even begin to imagine what's going through your mind. You must be as impulsive as him to do this and with such short notice! Now he wants to use the whole lounge for a day and dumps all these things to prepare on me. Could you not have waited until I've graduated at least so I wouldn't have to put of with this? You two could at least help me instead of leaving me to figure out how to cater for an entire wedding without giving me any specifics-"
At this point, you kind of zoned out because you were stuck on the whole "wedding" part. What?
As Azul paced around the room and ranted, without you fully listening, your mind was working to put together the pieces. He clearly was blaming you for something, and impulsivity could only mean Floyd was involved. That, and he mentioned giving him something...
Oh no...
Right on time, Floyd had strolled into the room, completely interrupting Azul's rant. But the second his eyes landed on you, his expression lit up and he'd made his way over to you. His arms quickly wrapped around you and he basically leaned all of his weight on you as he cheered, "There you are. I've been looking all over for you. What're you doing here with Azul?"
Hesitantly, you had to ask, "Floyd, what's going on?"
Tilting his head, he rested his cheek on top of your head and hummed in amusement, "Ah. Azul's just jealous of us. Getting married while he's stuck talking all business and contracts."
You're what? Did you hear that right?
Before you could ask anything else or try and explain anything, he'd picked you up again, and started walking out of the room with you. A very frustrated Azul calling out to you two, "At least give me something!"
Only for Floyd to wave a hand dismissively as he carried you out, "Nah. You got this. We're busy."
Something told you he wasn't going to let you just back out or call it a friendship rock...
Jade:
You like to think you know Jade pretty well. You've spent a lot of time together, so you thought it'd be a great idea to give him a little gift. So when you found this nice smooth and pretty rock, you knew it'd be the perfect gift for him. It's even practical since he can put it in one of his terrariums!
He even seemed happy when you gave it to him, after brief shock of course, and he had that sharp-toothed smile you knew well.
"Well well, I must say I never expected you to be so bold to give me something like this, but I accept."
That was all he said. You weren't really sure why it'd require boldness, but he didn't elaborate and instead brushed it off and quickly left saying he had work to do.
The day carried on as normal until you saw Floyd. He ran up to you and swung you around, "There you areee~ Welcome to the family! Ma's gonna love ya!"
Disoriented, dizzy, and confused, you had to ask, "Floyd? What are you talking about?"
He swung you around once more before finally setting you down, "Ah, you know. Proposing to Jade like that? Real brave of you."
Huh? Proposing?
But in a true Floyd fashion, he just ginned and waved goodbye as he scurried off, leaving you with many questions. The only way you'd probably get answers is to ask the man himself. So, you quickly made your way to the Mostro Lounge.
There, Jade was setting up some tables, as composed and collected as ever. Seeing you, he straightened up with that same sharp-toothed smile as earlier, and welcomed you, "Good, you're here dear. We have a small dinner to celebrate our engagement before we can begin making preparations."
Stunned by the wildness of it all, you tried to nervously correct him, "Jade, I feel like there might've been a slight misunderstanding-"
"Nonsense," He began, stepping closer and wrapping an arm around you, "It's common knowledge that gifting a special rock is a marriage proposal among merfolk. You're mine now, dear."
Azul:
Azul and you are really close. There was no denying it when you spent so much time at the Mostro Lounge VIP room just hanging out with him. So you thought youâd do something nice for him and get him a little gift.
Then there was this perfect rock you found. It was smooth and round with specks of blue and purple, perfect for Azul.
You didnât expect him to act soâŠodd when you have it to him. You held it out in your hand towards him, and he just stared at you in shock. His face turned about as red as Riddleâs hair, and you could tell he was struggling to speak. If Jade and Floyd were here, theyâd no doubt tease him for the look on his face.
After a few moments of stunned silence (you figured it was best to just be patient and wait for him to collect himself), he took the rock with slightly shaky hands. He held the rock close to him, over his heart, and took a deep breath. Then, he cleared his throat, and tried his best to answer, âIâŠwasnât aware you felt so strongly, but itâs clear now. Donât you worry, I can handle this. IâmâŠdelighted to receive this.â
Not thinking much of his words, you simply smiled at him. It wasnât uncommon for Azul to get a bit flustered by small gestures. He wasnât treated well as a child, so you know little shows of appreciation mean a lot to him.
He scurried off with the rock to his office moments later, and there was silence for a moment before you heard him sputtering on the other side of the door. He probably would be embarrassed if you listened in though, and you wanted to spare him (this time).
The day went on as usual for a while. Classes went by, you spoke to some other friends, and went to visit the Mostro Lounge again later.
But the Lounge wasâŠbusier than normal. Students who worked there were scrambling about trying to serve customers and clean and adjust the smallest of details on things. Several of them looked super stressed, and some looked like they were about to pass out. Jade and Floyd, were the only calm ones who stood off to the side, watching them all with amused smiles.
You went up to them to ask what was happening, but Floyd spoke before you could, âCan ya let Azul flounder a bit longer? This is fun to watch.â
Azul was floundering? But heâs usually so calm and collected when heâs working. He couldnât still be flustered from your gift earlier, right?
âWhatâs going on with Azul?â
Jade chuckled and was the one to answer you, âYou sent him on quite the spiral. Heâs got everyone working overtime to make sure everything is perfect for you.â
Now more confused, you had to ask, âMe? What did I do?â
At that, the duo only laughed more, clearly knowing something you donât, but refusing to elaborate at you and everyone elseâs expense. There was only one way you were going to get an answer; from Azul himself.
Marching past the two, you made your way to Azulâs office, barely knocking before going in.
And boy was he startled. The second you entered the room he sat up straighter and his cheeks turned pink, but he quickly tried to hide it behind his hand and muttered, âAh, youâre here. My apologies, Iâm still working on the contract right now.â
Walking up to his desk in complete confusion, you asked, âWhat contract? Whatâs going on?â
There was a moment of silence throughout the room. His gloved hands fidgeted with the pen and papers on his desk in front of him, trying to figure out the right words to say.
Then, he slid the paper over to you for you to read. Well, you only read the top before sitting stunned.
âContract of Marriageâ
Huh???
Now it was your turn to be stunned into silence. So, he filled the silence, âIâŠwas quite surprised by your gesture earlier, but I accept. If youâll have me, Iâd love for you to sign this. Itâs quite possibly the best contract Iâve ever written.â
Prompt: "Will You Marry Me?" - Proposal Headcannons Characters: Everyone :) Part(s): Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw(Here!), Octavinelle, Scarabia, Pomefiore, Ignihyde, Diasomnia Fandom: Twisted Wonderland Warning(s): None. I mean, unless you don't want to marry any of them. Just don't read if that's the case. Note: These are all if he is the one proposing btw. I've been thinking about maybe programming a small fan-made mini-otome using these ideas. Just for some practice for school while also being self indulgent hehe
Letâs just rip the bandaid off. Leona dates to marry. Heâs not someone to invest his time in something troublesome, and frankly? Not many people catch his interest. Sure. He might think someone is physically attractive, but thereâs a difference. He doesnât follow the traditional path either. The âdatingâ stage doesnât last long because heâs already made up his mind prior to it.
Dating is pretty much just formality. The moment you agree to it, youâre essentially agreeing to marry him. Heâs not going to put in effort for just anyone. Bonus points if heâs the one to confess his feelings first. That is basically concrete confirmation that he intends to marry you.
Leona proposing is inevitable. Only two things stand in his way: time and pride. Time, because he is no idiot. Your ways are unlike his people, and unlike him. Heâs patient. He knows how to play the game. He can wait, but not forever. Heâll observe you over time and slip in questions here and there about your goals in life. Then heâll find a good time frame. Please remember that Leona is not just an ambitious hot-head. Heâs a smart one.
Then there is his pride. He will not put himself in a position that has a chance to fail. No. He will play dirty, and wait until you are tinkering with the idea of marriage. Heâll steer conversations towards talks of the future, and make it so youâre the one who starts them. All to get you warmed up to the idea of spending your life with him, and to a stage where he can clearly tell where you lie emotionally. He might appear neutral on the outside; however, itâs all according to plan. While you are just beginning to imagine your lives together, Leonaâs already had the thought process long prior. You donât need to know that though.
The icing on the cake is when you visit his home. Checka is Leonaâs secret wingman. Your soft spot for the boy is something he takes advantage of, and lets Checka consume your attention during a tour of the palace. You meet his elder brother, who irritatingly pries for details about your relationship. Leona lets it go. Just this once, because he knows you feeling at home is more important in the long run. You share a room with him during your stay, and he made arrangements for small changes according to your tastes. Youâre also gifted with a new wardrobe of traditional clothes for your stay, and given free reign of the area. Naturally you are guarded in secret, as per the Kingâs orders. His brother knows as well as Leona does that it is imperative that your stay goes well.
You will be touring landmarks and tourist spots within the continent as well. While Leona would much rather laze his free time away in his room (away from his family), he goes. Word spread that he was bringing home his partner. Thank the gossiping maids for that. Walking with you makes the rumors official, and is safer than having you walk alone with Checka and some royal guards. That would have arisen suspicion, and been troublesome. More troublesome than walking around and confirming to the public that you are not to be touched.
Ignoring the many remarks about how Leona is unusually active during his visit (thanks to you), his pride is high. Youâve thoroughly been slotted into his life, and are accepted. Any apprehensions about you denying him were snuffed out. The way you took to living with him so easily proves it. If you werenât welcomed by his family? Well, it wouldnât change anything. This scenario just makes what heâs about to do easier.
The first night you arrived, Farlan presented Leona with a Kingscholar family heirloom. A ring that has been in their family for generations. Not meant to be worn permanently, and only for proposals. Farlan used it to propose to his wife, and at the ceremony presented her with the ring he picked out. Now Leona will use it to propose to you.
One look at it and Leona declined. Heâs spent his whole life chasing things that he couldnât have because of his birth status. He would not yield this moment to tradition. Farlan was shocked, but rescinded the offer with a supportive smile. His brother had found himself, and the King was proud.
On the evening of your final night at the palace - Leona finds you alone on the balcony of your shared room. If he was going to do anything, it would be now. Initially he was 100% confident in getting your acceptance, but the longer he watches the less sure he becomes. Deep down there is rooted fear that he will once again become second choice, and that youâll choose to return to your world over him. His hands are in his pockets, and one of them fists around the ring he prepared long ago.
Right when he moved to back out, you turned to come back inside. Your serene stature brightened at the sight of him, and he gained back some confidence. If you could only look at him that way foreverâŠwell, here goes nothing.
What are you doing out there without a coat? It gets extremely cold in the Savannah during the night. Do you want to get sick? I wonât be the one taking care of youâŠ.,â he sighs, pushing the door open, âStubborn mule. Make some room, Iâm coming out thereâŠ.Iâm near-certain that you figured it out, but this isnât just a normal vacation. I brought you here to ask for your hand. What?? Stop playing dumb. Not your âhandâ hand - oh, for crying out- marriage! I am asking you to marry me!âŠ.I am taking the laughter as a yes, now give me your fingerâ
{ 'Everything the light touches...is our kingdom' - A golden sunrise. Befitting. He used to hate them. Hate that phrase too. Yet you are the sun that Leona has been searching for. He continues to fight against fate in hopes that his efforts will bare fruit, and you are living proof that there is a chance. Maybe not easily. His life might not be what he originally dreamed. He may not get to sit on a throne of light . Yet there is a light in his life, and he likes to think that fate did not bring it to him. No, he found you all on his own.}
'I don't see why you haven't proposed to that young darling yet. Keep waiting and you'll miss your chance, boy'
Well, of all the things Ruggie expected to hear during his visit home, that wasn't one. Normally he'd be nagged over being away too long, or not writing home enough. This? It caught him off guard. Grandma was always sticking her nose where it didn't belong...but, maybe she had a point this time.
Your relationship. It's not something Ruggie has given much thought. It's uncharacteristic of him to get comfortable enough not to look a few steps ahead, but he's gone soft. A fact that he begrudgingly accepts with a grain of salt.
Naturally, he doesn't admit this out loud and instead changes the topic. On the outside, he acts normal and helps out around the house. However, internally he is thinking over his grandmother's prying.
Marriage. It's not necessarily 'beneficial,' to say the least. With only a few months left until graduation, he'll finally be entering the rat-race to secure himself a comfortable position for life. He's worked hard and developed connections to make it happen. The finish line is right there.
Where does that leave you? He can't necessarily be as flexible if he has a partner to worry about. It's a weak link, and might cause problems in his plans. The smart thing to do would be to break things off. After all, how many school romances get a happy ending? It's so unrealistic. He'll be busy with work, you'll have your own responsibilities, and eventually it will be like you are strangers with a title tying both of you together.
This reasoning alone is enough to settle the problem. It's just - he doesn't like it. It's the most realistic path and he hates it. If it was about finding a companion, then he could do it later in life.
But when he tries to picture that lifestyle with anyone other than you, it doesn't sit right. It's physically upsetting, and makes him nauseated.
Sleep evades him that night. Ruggie finds himself sitting in the kitchen doing homework, burning the midnight oil until he can think with a clear head. Naturally, his all-knowing grandmother finds him there and makes him spill his thoughts.
She's direct with her advice. It's rare for Ruggie to be stumped considering his quick-wit, and understanding emotions is a wisdom you gain with experience.
For someone like Ruggie, who's always maximized every outcome and thought ahead - you're a weakness. Something that he can't control, and yet exactly what he needs in life. We don't get to choose who we love in life. Love is unpredictable, and Ruggie's found it at a young age. Career opportunities come and go, but he will never get back the time spent at your side...so why not maximize that instead? Hm?
He leaves for NRC the following day. For the last time, considering it is his final year. On the way he stops at multiple markets and dips into his savings. With nothing but a ring and an idea, he ditches his stuff in his dorm and heads to Ramshackle.
He's not nervous. That left his system the night prior. His grandmother's tough advice hardened that up quick.
He knocks on the door, half expecting one of the resident ghosts to answer. Instead it's you, and he's down on one knee before you can speak. With one hand, he holds out the ring. The other itches his nose in attempt to hide his wobbly grin.
"Shishishishi~ I don't have to explain what's going on, right? I'm sure you can put two-and-two together quickly. Are you really so surprised that you have nothing to say? Hmm, I guess that I can take the lead. Pretty soon I'll be leaving. You still have another year here, and I can't promise that I will be around much. Until now, I had no plan for us. Likely because being with you is the most natural thing I have experienced. I've always aimed for a life of comfort, but now I want you in that picture too, y'know? So...when you graduate next year, will you marry me? I'll be patiently waiting, shishi~â
{Rose Quartz. The symbol of unconditional love and family. Something Ruggie hasn't experienced much in his life, and is grateful for. Ruggie did not want to choose a generic gem. Not for this. He may be known for cutting corners, but this is too important. He has done his fair share of trading, and knows exactly what to look for when shopping. No salesperson alive could convince him otherwise. You may not understand the meaning behind the gem, but that's alright. He doesn't mind, because this is the ring he'll see on your finger until you're both old and grey}
Jack takes the longest out of all in his dorm. In result, his proposal is the most natural. Not to say that he does not put thought into it! Oh no, this poor lad hella overthinks the event. It's just getting him to the proposing stage is - well, anticlimactic?
All Jack requires is time. Once you've both settled in to your lives on an individual standpoint, with time comes thoughts of taking your relationship to the next level. As adults who have been together for years, it's only natural? At least for Jack. He has never been for or against getting married. So, there really is no internal battle for him to fight. He just? Lets himself be happy with the idea? I know, I know. It sounds too easy - but think about it. Jack is responsible, kind, and a bit like a golden retriever (or should I just say wolf?). He doesn't ignore his feelings. So if he feels that he want's to marry you, then why not? The worst that can happen is you say no.
There was no epiphany. No spark or overwhelming feeling of affection that made him want to marry you. No impending doom, nervousness, or special moment that he can pinpoint as 'the moment'. Nothing. You weren't even around.
He was merely finishing up morning jog and heading home. The thought casually entered his head, and he let it stay. Over time it reappeared over and over, until he felt that he'd heard it enough to act on it.
Jack is high-key observant and knows your likes and dislikes by heart. He feels that such an important moment is something he needs to think through deeply, and on his own. Many have been at the receiving end of his determination, and that doesn't exclude you. Once he's set his mind to something, there is no holding back. Over the course of weeks he proceeds to undergo self-reflection, and craft a proposal that he feels is perfect.
One question he spends time thinking about is 'where,' because Jack would prefer to do an intimate act like proposing somewhere private. The last thing he wants you to feel is pressure to accept, so he chooses to propose on a late night walk. This might arise suspicion since he isn't in workout gear, which is rare. Yet it's a price Jack is willing to pay. He's never been great with surprises anyways.
He tries to uphold some element of mystery though. Do not laugh, but he put the in a plastic bag and hid it inside the container for his protein powder. When times get tough, you have to get a little creative.
Right before your evening stroll, he says that he wants to make a shake (under the pretense that afterwards he'll work-out). In actuality, he takes an empty bottle and slips the ring inside.
While you're both walking, he shakes it around and 'complains' that nothing is coming out. With you completely unknowing, he opens the cap and feigns surprise. It makes you curious, and he hands over the bottle a bit too eagerly
It's light, you note instantly. A glance inside reveals the ring, and when you pull it out Jack stops walking. His face sets with determination despite the red hue overtaking his neck and ears.
Will you marry me?? -- oh wait, that was too blunt, wasn't it? Hang on!, " he takes a breath, and coughs into his fist, "So. I've been doing some thinking. We've been together for years now, and to me you've become irreplaceable. I don't know how else to describe how I feel, other than to say that you are the person I want to spend my life with. I can only hope that you feel this way too,"
{He isn't a man of the arts. Jack has no eye for fancy jewels, or what's an appropriate design. He originally thought to have the shop keeper help him decide. Yet, that felt impersonal. So he perused many stores, and did his best to imagine your reaction to seeing each ring. Nothing caught his eye until this peridot. A simple cut with an eye-catching color. Sure, it's not what others would recommend but he liked it. Who would Jack be to deny his gut instinct?}
Summary: How the act when they're jealous
Characters: All (-Ortho)
A/N: Something something Floyd <3
Riddle Rosehearts:
Heâs ashamed about it
He knows that being jealous is toxic and he hates that heâs feeling that, so he ignores it
He pretends heâs not jealous and hopes it just goes away, and yet⊠it hasnât
He knows youâre dating him and he has nothing to worry about. But the way that guy is being so touchy and getting so close to you⊠it makes him want to collar the guy right then and there
He doesnât because that would be unreasonable, but he does decide that he needs to talk to you. If ignoring it wonât work, then heâll just have to face it and talk to you about it.
So, he walks over and asks to talk with you privately
âI donât like how friendly that guy was with you. I know you love me, but Iâm jealous. Itâs silly and childish and Iâm sorry that you have to deal with me being like this. I tried to ignore it, but it got worse, so I thought telling you about it would help. And again, Iâm sorry.â
Heâs so sincerely apologetic about it
Because he doesnât want you to feel bad or feel like you have to stop being friends with that guy just because heâs jealous
Just tell him that itâs okay and remind him that you love him and only him
And a date would help too. Maybe a private tea party in the rose gardens
Trey Clover:
He doesnât get jealous easily. Heâs so confident in his relationship that âwhat ifâŠâ thoughts of you cheating or leaving him hasnât once crossed his mind, BUTâŠ
There is a line that shouldnât be crossed
This guy acts so casual and nice around you, and heâs happy about it and he wished it stopped there
But then the next day, the guys is standing closer, being more touchy, and his voice sounds more flirtatious
Trey knows you donât hear how heâs speaking, because if you did you wouldâve moved away or told him you were taken or something. But you just kept talking to him with a smile
So, Trey walks over to shut this guy down before he takes it too far
âHey. So sorry to interrupt, but theyâre taken. Iâm Trey, Y/Nâs boyfriend. Itâs a pleasure to meet you.â
Heâs so polite that you canât tell heâs even jealous
He lets you finish your conversation with him, but he stays there with you to make sure he doesnât do or say anything
And the next day, he keeps you all to himself
He takes you out to eat, shows you around Sageâs island, bakes with you (or talks to you while you watch him bake) and then invites you to stay over and watch a couple movies of your choice before falling asleep in each others arms
Nobody could even tell heâs jealous
Cater Diamond:
So pouty
He gets jealous and walks around with a pout on his face
He doesnât even check Magicam!
Itâs not hard for him to get jealous either
You smile at someone for a bit longer than usual? Heâs jealous. You let someone stand a little too close? Heâs jealous. You agree to hang out with them one-on-one? Heâs jealous.
He doesnât like being jealous, and he tries to hide how often he gets jealous. Usually it works. He just takes a few days to think it over and then heâs perfectly fine.
But, sometimes it becomes unavoidable and he canât hide it. And at those times, he invites you to his room so he can talk to you
âThat guy you studied with yesterday was being pretty buddy-buddy with you. Almost like youâre a couple. But, last time I checked, we were dating. And I donât think our relationship is open right now. Wanna explain yourself?â
He doesnât realize how accusatory he sounds
Itâs like heâs interrogating you and doesnât realize it
And he does feel bad when he realize how he sounds, because he knows itâs not your fault
He apologizes for being so accusatory and asks you to have a study date with him later that day
You get to his room after class and heâs n set up for something that isnât a study date
His LEDs (He has LEDs because I said so) are on a nice pinkish color, the room smells like cherry blossoms and he has a little dinner for two set up on his desk with an extra chair that he borrowed from Treyâs room. And before you go back to your dorm, he gives you a bouquet of roses
Ace Trappola:
Believe it or not, he doesnât get jealous that often
But when he is, he doesnât waste any time
Some guy thinks he can just put his hand on your arm, and stand so close, and tell you that heâs always free if you want to âhang outâ? Hell no
Heâs immediately baring his teeth like a lion
Not literally, but you could definitely tell heâs jealous with one look
He just walks over to you and forces this guy to back off. And if the other guy doesnât back down, heâs not afraid to fight him
âHey. Back off! For your information, theyâre my partner. MY partner! Not yours. Why donât you back up and keep your dirty little hands off of them. Wouldnât want them to catch whatever creep disease you have. Hey, babe, letâs go. I want to make you dinner tonight.â
He gets you out of there as fast he can
He also doesnât straight up tell you not to talk to that guys (especially if heâs your friend) but he does say âthat guy makes me uncomfortableâ
And he takes you back to his dorm and makes you dinner (Riddle and Trey have to step in because he almost ruins it. He tried and thatâs what matters)
He also ask you to stay the night just for his peace of mind
Deuce Spade:
Immediately feels guilty. Especially because his first instinct is to go over there and punch the guy thatâs standing too close and getting too touchy
You donât even know that heâs jealous, because he never tells you
There are signs though
Heâs hanging around you more often, getting more touchy, saying âI love youâ more often, but other than that you wouldnât know
He talks to one person about it and that's Jack
He ask Jack for advice on being and jealous and Jack gives pretty solid advice
The only way youâll actually get him to admit heâs jealous is if you ask him
âOh⊠Is it obvious? Sorry, I didnât want to say anything in case you thought you did something wrong or anything. I was trying to hide it so it didnât affect you. Am I being too overbearing? Iâm sorry, Iâll try to tone it down.â
Please reassure him that he isnât being overbearing and that you just want to make sure that he knows you love him
He tells you that heâll work on not being jealous and even ask if you can help since heâs never seen you jealous
He wants to be better for you âĄ
Very protective
Leona Kingscholar:
Youâre his herbivore, not anyone else's
Someone gets too touchy or too friendly, he will get so protective
God forbid itâs a Savanaclaw student, he will make their life a living hell
Heâs also not afraid to approach you two while youâre talking and telling him off
Doesnât he know who this herbivore belongs to?
âHey! This herbivore is taken. Iâve made that very obvious. And even if they werenât, what makes you think theyâd like someone like you? Thereâs a reason youâre single. How about you stop creeping on people and do something productive? Herbivore, you want me to teach this guy a lesson?â
Will actually beat the guy up if you want him to
Heâll also immediately take you to his room to cuddle
Also encourages you to tell off anyone else who acts that way
And if he does catch you telling off a creep, he gets so proud
âThatâs my herbivore.â
Ruggie Bucchi:
Doesnât really mention it, but there are so many signs
Heâll ask you to study more, get donuts, and help him with chores. And heâs a lot clingier than ever
There isnât a minute of your day that goes by when heâs not with you
And he also discreetly teaches the guy a lesson. By stealing all of his money. He has the guys wallet now
Heâs not gonna get all flirty with his partner and not pay the price
âHey! Y/N! I got more money! You wanna go out? My treat!â
He tells you that the money came from Leona, but it didnât.
He just sticks closer to you and doesnât talk about it
Heâll also deny being jealous if you call him out on it
If you talk to the guy heâs jealous of when heâs with you, heâll shamelessly glare at him
Jack Howl:
Doesnât get jealous easily
He trust you and thatâs not gonna change because some guy gets touchy
Heâll only get jealous if you actively flirt with somebody, but at that point he just settles for leaving (reasonable)
Heâs protective though
If a guys flirting with you and youâre visibly uncomfortable, he will get you out of there as fast as possible
Or if you tell him that a certain student is being creepy to you, heâll keep you away from the guy
âHey. Youâre making them uncomfortable. Leave my partner alone. Y/N, let's go. Do you wanna see this new cacti Iâm growing?â
He ends up sticking around you and make sure nobody is creepy or starts making you uncomfortable
Heâll act like your personal security
If a guy gets mad and starts getting physical with either of you, heâll pick them up and take him away from you
Not jealous, but protective
Azul Ashengrotto:
Oh no
He just locks himself in the VIP room
Azulâs coping mechanism is to hide and he does just that
He sees a guy being all touchy and flirty and he doesnât stick around. He just runs off and hides
You have to go to him and tell him that you arenât into that guy
âI know. You are dating me and you love me. I just saw that guy and I thought⊠I donât know. Maybe heâd be better for you. Heâs more athletic, better looking, heâs⊠fit. Iâm sorry.â
Once heâs out of the Funk© (as Floyd calls it) he will not hold back on the guy
He will get Floyd and Jade to spy on him and get blackmail information. Heâll then force the guy to work for him by using the blackmail and leave him with the worst and hardest job
That guy will learn not to be creepy to his partner again
Jade Leech:
Unhinged
Sometimes heâll pretend to be jealous just to mess with you and get kisses, but when heâs actually jealous, heâs unhinged
He will blackmail whoever heâs jealous of to do disgusting things. When he goes to the Mostro Lounge, Jade will purposely make his food bad (or tell Floyd to mess it up). Heâll let Floyd have âfunâ with him.
He is not going to go easy on this dude. Oh, but you wonât know any of this. You just notice that he seems a little more on edge and if you ask him about it:
âWell, my pearl, Iâve been quite jealous recently. Donât worry though, Iâve dealt with it. Would you like to go on a hike with me?â
You can try to ask how he âdealt with itâ but he wonât elaborate. He just tells you not to worry about it
He has this big grin on his face too, that definitely doesnât calm you down
He does drag you on a hike with him. Mainly to get your mind off of what he mightâve done and also to get more mushrooms for his terrariums
Floyd Leech:
Oh no⊠Oh No. OH NO!
He gets unhinged in a more physical way
He is not afraid to approach you and get the guy to leave you alone. In a forceful way
He's so angry and violent. In a word, heâs very Floyd. Which checks out
âHEY! Who do you think youâre flirting with? Thatâs my shrimpy! Are you asking to get squeezed? Aha, Iâll give you a ten second head start.â
Heâll chase the guy around the school for a good while. To terrorize him, heâll let the guy stay ahead of him, but once he starts slowing down heâll get him
Oh, but you wonât get mercy either
He finds you after school and cuddles you for hours
Heâs half-heartedly squeezing you with his head buried in your chest and grumbling about you being cruel
Heâll tell you how mean you are letting him get all jealous and then not doing anything to make him feel better
The cuddleâs don't count either. He wants kisses. A LOT of kisses.
Doesnât get jealous
Kalim Al-Asim:
Ever
Why would he need to be jealous? He trust you
He sees a guy flirting with you and doesnât feel even a little worried
At the end of the day, heâs the one dating you, heâs the one kissing you, heâs the one who gets all your love and affection and thatâs what matters
Now, if you want him to step in and help you he will
You have to tell him if someone makes you uncomfortable and if he sees that person talking to you, heâll step in
âExcuse me, theyâre taken. Iâm their boyfriend. Sorry, but I need them for something. Come on, Y/N, I need your help setting up for a party this weekend.â
The excuse he used to get you out of their wasnât even a lie
He genuinely needs help setting up for a party
Whenever he gets you out of uncomfortable situations, he never lies about needing you. He needs your opinion on everything. The food for a banquet, the decorations for a party, his drumming skills, everything.
Jamil Viper:
What? Him? Jealous? Yes
You love him and want him. Heâs not letting someone take you.
Heâs tries to be lowkey about it though
Heâll interrupt every conversation you have with the guy, claiming that he needs you for something and then saying he just wanted to spend time with you
Heâll invite you to study more or help him with his chores
Heâs not above pulling you away from the guy either
âHey. I need them. Y/N, can you come with me?â
He literally just keeps you away from the guys heâs jealous
He tries to hide it, but then eventually just ends up cuddling you forever
He ends up falling asleep
And when you tell him heâs more clingy than usual, he denies it (like a liar)
Another guy that doesnât get jealous
Vil Schoenheit:
Heâs confident in himself
Why would you leave him for any of the potatoes around this school? Nobody could be as great as he is
He knows he has no reason to worry
At least, thatâs what he says, untilâŠ
He sees you talking to Neige
Neige isnât flirting or anything, heâs just being his normal self, but Vil still get jealous
The longer you talk to him the more the jealousy grows. He doesnât say anything while Neigeâs there but when Neigeâs gone
âPotato. I hate to admit this, but I've found that Iâm jealous. Perhaps you could help get rid of this ugly feeling. Would you like to go out for dinner?â
He spends the rest of the day with you. Heâll just randomly kiss you and gets happy when you randomly kiss him
And at the dinner, he pulls a bouquet out of thin air
You think he planned this the day prior. After all, he was with you all day, and you didnât see him buy a bouquet
Little do you know, he ordered them while you were distracted and had Rook deliver them to him just before he entered the restaurant
Rook Hunt:
Rook, believe it or not, isnât jealous
He is, however, territorial
If someone ends up standing too close to you, they will end up with an arrow grazing by them, forcing them to back up
He doesnât acknowledge it at all
To him itâs just another day
You ask him about it and he acts confused
âWhat do you mean? I was just making sure they learned personal space, mon chĂ©ri. I need to make sure no one thinks to touch what's mine.â
He goes on a whole rant about boundaries and mentions something about marking???
He keeps say french in the middle of his speech and you end up getting lost
The main point of his speech is that he doesnât want anyone trying anything funny with you since your his
Weirdo
Epel Felmier:
Oh manâŠ
Epel already has a bit of a fragile ego from always being seen as delicate and girly, so when someone tries to make a move on youâŠ
He immediately thinks that they donât think he can protect and provide for you
He assumes that they donât think heâs man enough to keep someone safe and provide for them and he is not at all happy about it.
âHEY! Git yer hands off ma partner, ya creep. Ya think ah canât provide for âem âcause ahâm small, ey? How bout we head outside and ah teach how a real man fights!?â
That guy wasnât too sure what Epel said, but the aggressiveness made him leave you alone
Epel ends up flexing asking if you saw how good he was at protecting you
He then takes you to his spell drive practice to impress you more
He also tells you to tell him if anybody is creepy like that again
Let's get one thing straight, he didnât see anything physically
Idia Shroud:
He was watching the cameras he installed in the sc- I mean, no, what cameras?
He saw this guy standing way too close and you were obviously uncomfortable and trying to back up
And just because he canât go outside, doesnât mean he canât stop this guy and put him in his place
He has Ortho, after all. And heâs more than happy to protect his best friend
âHey. You need to back up. Theyâre taken by my big brother. I suggest you leave them alone unless you want to experience my laser eyes first hand.â
Ortho than escorts you to Ignihyde to make sure that creep doesnât try to approach you again
Idia pretends he wasnât jealous while clinging onto you like his life depends on it
Heâll swear on his life that he wasnât jealous and yet he refuses to swear on Heroâs Dawn: A Rogue's Journey. Strange
Malleus doesnât realize that someone flirting with you at first
Malleus Draconia:
Only when Lilia tells him does he realize
He gets all huffy about it, but then remembers that he can smite the person with lightning
However, when he gets there, Sebekâs already there telling this person off
How dare they think they can treat this human better than the next king of Briar Valley! Are they dumb?
Malleus has to stop him from hurting the person and then sweeps you away
âMy dear, that person didnât put their filthy hands on you, did they? I must admit, when Lilia told me that they were flirting with you, I felt⊠Jealous. Iâm glad to know that Sebekâs looking out for you.â
Sebek only thought it was an insult to Malleus, but maybe donât tell him that.
He tries his best to be around and recognize flirting better, but it doesnât really work
Lilia tries to teach him the differences between friendliness and flirting, but he doesnât get it
He tries though, and thatâs what matters
Lilia Vanrouge:
Oh no
No mercy for this poor soul who thought of flirting with you
Heâs lowkey a little unhinged, but doesnât let it show
In his mind, heâs thinking about settling this with a good old fashioned duel, and on the outside, heâs smiling politely
He does feel a little smug. He already knew you were the hottest student on campus, but this further cements that
âOho? I understand why you would be interested in them, they are the greatest after all. However, they are taken. By me. Say, if youâre so intent on winning their heart, why donât you duel me for it.â
He doesnât end up fighting that person because heâs powerful enough to accidentally kill them, but he definitely considered it for a second
Just a second
And then he takes you to his room to play video games well past midnight
Silver Vanrouge:
Doesnât get jealous for two reasons
1. He canât tell the difference between being friendly and flirting and
2. He trusts you
Even if someone tells him that itâs flirting he wonât do anything because he trust you not to leave him
Heâll only take action if you tell him someone is making you uncomfortable
He asks for a name and/or description of the person and confront them about it
âMy partner told me that you flirting with them has made them uncomfortable. Please stop. If you continue to harass them and make them uncomfortable, I wonât hesitate to take matters into my own hands. So, please leave them alone so this situation doesnât escalate.â
After a few days, he asks if that guy left you alone and is satisfied when you say yes
Heâll do anything to make you feel safe and happy
Sebek Zigvolt:
It takes him a few minutes to realize someones flirting with you, but when he does he gets pissed
Who do they think they are?
Thatâs his human!
Heâs insulted, offended, appalled, stunned, another word
This shall not stand
âHow dare you say such things to MY human? Do you know who I am? Iâm a loyal attendant of my liege, Prince Malleus Draconia! How dare you think of saying such things to MY human! You are a despicable person and I detest you!â
He meant that with his whole heart
He stays with you the whole day and makes sure that no more creeps try to creep on you
only one this time cuz he's a long boy lol
(credit to @/alchemivich for the sprite assets!)

Cater Diamond
Cater always made everything look effortless. From his impeccably filtered Magicam photos to his playful, lighthearted persona, he was the guy who breezed through life like a summer wind â colorful, vibrant, and hard to pin down. But the moment he realized he wanted to spend his life with you, the thought terrified him. Not because he didnât want it â but because he did.
Youâd been together for a while, enough to see past his curated charm and into the subtle sadness he kept hidden behind his eyes. You saw the moments when his smile faltered just a second too soon, when he stared at old class photos for a beat too long, when he tried too hard to make everyone like him. And despite it all, or maybe because of it, you stayed. You loved him, not the persona.
He wanted to return that love with everything he had.
So he planned it down to the second. Not flashy, not performative, but genuine. A proposal just for you two â no hashtags, no likes, no audience.
You were led on a surprise âcasual dateâ through campus, each place tied to a memory: the greenhouse where you first studied together, the corner of the courtyard where you surprised him with lunch one day, the little music room where you once caught him playing guitar alone. At each spot, he left a small printed Polaroid of the memory, with scribbled notes like âCan you believe you caught me blushing here?â or âStill the best sandwich Iâve ever had, btw.â
Finally, you arrived at the abandoned tower that overlooked the rose gardens. It was dusk â golden hour. A string of soft lights framed the edge of the balcony, and a blanket lay spread out with two drinks, his favorite strawberry soda, and your favorite too.
Cater stood there, not in any extravagant outfit, but in his everyday clothes, a little flushed, a little nervous. His Magicam was nowhere in sight.
âI know Iâm not always easy to read,â he began, eyes softer than youâd ever seen them. âIâm a master of filters. And honestly? Iâve spent most of my life trying to be someone that other people like. But with you⊠I donât have to be anyone else. You make me feel like being just âCaterâ is enough.â
He knelt, pulling out a small velvet box that he almost dropped because his hands were shaking.
âSo⊠if youâll have me, for all the mess, the moods, and the million selfies â will you marry me? And keep reminding me that being myself is okay?â
His voice cracked, and you could tell it wasnât a line rehearsed for flair. It was Cater Diamond, bare and honest.
You said yes, of course.
And that night, he took one photo â just one â of the two of you silhouetted against the golden light, laughing through your tears.
No filters. No edits.
Just love.
Ruggie Bucchi
Ruggie Bucchi never thought heâd be the type to propose. Where he came from, marriage was practical, not romantic. You partnered up, you made it work, and you did your best to survive. Love? That was a luxury. He grew up knowing how to scrape by, how to hustle, how to keep smiling when your stomach was empty.
But then he met you â and everything shifted.
You saw past his tricks and street-smart charm, past the sly grin and the mischievous glint in his eyes. You saw someone capable. Someone worth loving, not just useful. And that meant more to him than he ever let on.
He saved for months. Scrimped every madol he could without you noticing. Side jobs, extra errands, even turning down a few schemes with Leona when they felt too risky. He wanted this to be his, something he earned with his own effort. Not flashy â but real.
One day, he invited you to his hometown. He played it off as casual â âHey, wanna see where the magic began?â â but you could tell he was more nervous than usual. His tail twitched a little more. His jokes came faster. He wouldnât meet your eyes for too long.
You arrived in the Slums of the Sunset Savanna, where he grew up. It was loud, dusty, and full of kids shouting and running barefoot in the alleys. But Ruggie looked⊠peaceful. At home. He gave you a tour like it was the royal palace â proudly showing you the bakery where he got day-old bread, the crumbling wall he used to climb for fruit, the school where he taught himself to read better.
That evening, he brought you to a quiet hill just outside the neighborhood. It overlooked the city, bathed in orange from the setting sun.
There was a picnic spread, nothing fancy â some homemade snacks, cold drinks, and a little bread pudding he tried (and failed) to make look neat. The bread was a little burnt. He kept muttering that it wasn't perfect.
And then, out of nowhere, he said:
âYâknow⊠I used to think Iâd just grow up, keep scrappinâ my way through life, maybe end up old and alone with a bunch of stolen pies under my belt.â
He laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck.
âBut then you came along and messed it all up â in the best way.â
He reached into his jacket and pulled out a tiny, slightly lopsided ring box. Inside was a simple band with a small, pale gem. Not expensive. Not glittery.
But made with his whole heart.
âI donât got a palace. I donât got riches or magic castles or nothinâ. But I got you, and I wanna spend every day makinâ you smile. So⊠what do you say? Wanna keep causing trouble together⊠forever?â
His ears were flat against his head, and his tail was still as stone.
When you said yes, he lit up like the stars were inside him.
And he never stopped smiling after that.
Floyd Leech
Loving Floyd was like dancing with a storm: unpredictable, wild, sometimes overwhelming â but breathtakingly beautiful. He could be sweet one second, biting the next, and then melting into your arms like seafoam. And through it all, there was something real behind his mercurial moods â a strange, raw devotion that ran deeper than the ocean.
So when Floyd started acting⊠weirdly consistent, you knew something was up.
No wild mood swings. No threats to squeeze someone into a pretzel. Just this quiet intensity in the way he looked at you, like he was memorizing your every blink.
Heâd drag you along for âdatesâ that were more like mini adventures: exploring underwater caves off the Coral Sea coast, racing each other through twisted kelp forests, picnicking on giant sea turtles (you hoped it was legal). Heâd laugh, splash you, nibble your ears when you werenât looking â but then fall completely silent when you watched the sunset over the waves.
That silence carried something unspoken. Something serious.
Then one day, he brought you to the edge of the Mostro Lounge after hours. No lights. No music. Just the dark water shimmering under moonlight. Jade had subtly cleared the area, probably under Floydâs âfriendly encouragement.â
Floyd stood by the pool, barefoot, wearing loose, sea-salt-dried clothes. He looked wild and untamed, like heâd just swum from the abyss.
âNe~ shrimpy,â he started, voice low and lilting. âYou really stuck around this long, huh?â
He didnât look at you at first. He stared at the water, watching it ripple like something might rise from it.
âMost people get scared. They say Iâm too muchâtoo loud, too weird, too hard to keep up with. Even Jade gets tired of me sometimes, y'know?â
He turned, and for once, his eyes werenât playful. They were clear â crystalline, serious.
âBut you⊠You let me be me. Even when Iâm a pain in the tailfin.â
He stepped forward and pressed a tiny shell into your hand. At first glance, it looked ordinary â until it opened with a soft click, revealing a shimmering, black pearl nestled in its center like a star trapped in the deep.
His hand slipped into yours, fingers squeezing tight.
âSo, what dâya say? Wanna be my forever shrimpy? I canât promise I wonât get bored sometimes or drag you into weird stuff⊠but I can promise Iâll never leave. âCause when I say youâre mine, I mean it.â
He grinned then â sharp teeth and all â but there was a rare softness to it.
When you said yes, he scooped you up, twirled you into the air, and shouted your name into the sea breeze like it belonged to him now.
Because, well⊠it did.
Kalim Al-Asim
His love was the kind of love that sparkled â joyful, loud, radiant. He loved with everything. And when he realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you, there was no hesitation. No fear. Just overflowing excitement and the desire to make it perfect.
So naturally⊠the entire city had to know.
You started noticing little hints. Heâd smile at you longer than usual. Ask strange questions like âWhatâs your favorite kind of flower, just hypothetically?â or âDo you like fireworks or doves better? No reason!â
But the day of the proposal? He kept it hidden perfectly.
You were invited to a âcasual dinnerâ at the Al-Asim family estate â nothing fancy, he swore! When you arrived, the garden was transformed into something out of a dream: floating lanterns bobbed gently in the air, casting a golden glow; fragrant jasmine vines curled around the trellises; rose petals lined the walkways in careful spirals.
And in the center of it all stood Kalim, wearing a white and gold sherwani embroidered with intricate sun motifs â custom-made, obviously.
He took your hand and pulled you close, his smile so big it looked like it hurt.
âSurprise!! Okay okay, I know I said this wasnât a big deal, but I mightâve lied a little,â he admitted, practically vibrating with excitement. âI wanted this to be special. Because you are.â
He led you through the garden, pointing out little scenes â memories youâd shared together recreated in glowing, magical dioramas. The first time he gave you a ride on his flying carpet. The time you accidentally got stuck in the rain together and danced anyway. Even the first time he tripped and landed face-first in a pile of fruit during a festival. Each one floated in a soft golden shimmer like preserved dreams.
Finally, at the very end of the path, the lights dimmed. Music began â a quiet, melodic tune played by a live ensemble hidden behind silk screens.
Kalim dropped to one knee, pulling out a ring so stunning it looked like it belonged in a treasure vault: warm rose gold shaped like the sun, with a diamond center surrounded by sunstone and opal, glowing faintly with enchantment.
His voice trembled slightly, but his eyes never left yours.
âI know Iâm⊠a lot. Loud, excitable, maybe too much sometimes. But my heart? Itâs yours. Every day. Every moment. I want to fill your life with so much joy you forget what sadness feels like. Will you⊠will you marry me?â
You could barely answer before fireworks burst overhead in a dazzling cascade of color â forming your name, a heart, and then the words âWill You Marry Me?â again for good measure.
He laughed, teary-eyed, pulling you into a spinning hug the moment you said yes, nearly tripping over a pile of lanterns.
And he swore â over spiced sweets and glowing stars â that loving you would always be the most joyful celebration of his life.
Vil Schoenheit
Vil Schoenheit had always been perfection incarnate.
He chose his words carefully, curated his life down to the last detail, and ruled over every room he entered with grace and quiet authority. But love? Love was unpredictable. Messy. Vulnerable.
And yet⊠with you, he chose it anyway.
For months, he kept the idea of proposing buried beneath a polished exterior. Not because he doubted your love â no, never that â but because he feared imperfection. What if the moment wasnât enough? What if his words failed him? What if he wasnât enough?
But one morning, as you were wrapped in a robe, sipping tea while lazily flipping through one of his scripts, looking utterly unbothered by the world â his world â he knew. No stage could rival this.
Still⊠he had to make it perfect.
The proposal wasnât sudden. It unfolded like a symphony â days of subtle preparation, each moment building toward the crescendo. First, a handwritten invitation slipped under your door, sealed with gold wax in his personal crest. It read:
âYou are cordially invited to an evening of celebration â for a love that deserves the finest stage. Wear what makes you feel radiant. The rest⊠is mine to handle.â
You arrived at a private rooftop garden in the heart of Maquillavilleâ Vilâs favorite filming location. Every inch of it had been transformed: strings of enchanted lights that pulsed like heartbeats, violet roses laced with flecks of gold, a crystal runway leading to a single, candlelit platform under the stars.
Vil stood at the end of it, not in a costume, not in a role â just himself. Beautiful, yes, but bare. No stage makeup. No lenses. Just Vil, with his natural elegance and a look in his eyes like he was seeing you and only you.
As you approached, music swelled from invisible instruments â soft piano and violins, as if the stars themselves were holding their breath.
Vil took your hands, his thumb stroking your wrist gently.
âI have played many roles,â he said quietly. âA prince. A villain. A monarch. But none⊠none compare to the part Iâve played in your life â myself. No masks. No script. You have loved me.â
He lowered himself to one knee, not out of tradition, but reverence. The ring was an opalescent band shaped like a flower in full bloom â not ostentatious, but hauntingly beautiful. Regal. Just like him.
âAnd I want to spend the rest of my days proving that I am more than a face on a screen. That I am yours â wholly, imperfectly, and honestly. Will you marry me, my dearest?â
Your yes was the kind of answer that echoed through your soul. And when you kissed â fireworks didnât go off.
But you couldâve sworn the stars shifted.
Rook Hunt
To love Rook Hunt was to walk the edge of obsession â not in a dangerous way, but in a way that made you feel seen. Utterly seen. No piece of you, no habit or flaw, escaped his gaze. And he loved every detail with fervor and poetry.
So, when Rook decided to propose, it wasnât a question of if or even how. It was a question of when the moment would feel like destiny.
And he waited for it with the patience of a hunter watching from the trees â breathless, quiet, focused.
It came during an autumn evening. The forest outside campus was bathed in gold and amber light, the air crisp and still. He asked you to take a walk, his tone casual, but there was a certain gleam in his eyes. The kind that made your heart stir.
He led you into the woods, deeper than usual, through a path dappled with falling leaves and faint trails of candlelight â candles placed just out of reach, like fireflies guiding you toward something sacred.
Eventually, you came upon a small, open glade. In its center stood a circle of white lilies and dried pampas grass, arranged with almost ceremonial care. Strings of paper birds fluttered from the trees â cranes, owls, hawks â each meticulously folded and each with a word written inside: Admiration. Fascination. Devotion. Enchantment.
You turned to Rook, who now stood behind you with that soft, unreadable smile.
âMon trĂ©sor,â he breathed, voice velvet-smooth. âYou are my greatest muse. The most magnificent mystery Iâve ever encountered. I have followed your footsteps, your laughter, your sorrow â and I find myself always⊠captivated.â
He circled around you like a dancer, his hand brushing your cheek, then resting over your heart.
âTo hunt is not merely to chase â it is to understand. To behold. And I understand now that no beauty compares to yours. No thrill equals the way my heart stirs when you smile.â
Then, with the flourish of a magician revealing his final act, he drew from his coat a black-velvet box â aged and worn, like an heirloom passed through generations. He knelt, the golden leaves falling around him like confetti from the sky.
Inside, the ring was unlike anything youâd seen: a twisting band of silver and moss-green enamel, crowned with a delicate white diamond shaped like a feather â symbolizing the pursuit, the admiration, and finally, the surrender.
âWould you, my radiant one, do me the indescribable honor⊠of being mine, forever? Not as prey. Not as an object. But as the one I choose to walk beside, for all my days?â
When you said yes, Rook exhaled â deeply, reverently â and kissed your hand as if pledging allegiance to a monarch.
Idia Shroud
Proposal? Marriage? Social interaction? That was high-tier anxiety content for him. Even the thought of confessing to you, back when it all started, had nearly sent him into a shutdown spiral.
But now, here you were â his person. The one who understood his silences, who gamed beside him through 72-hour dungeon crawls, who sat beside him in eerie, comforting stillness while the blue glow of his hair flickered in thought. Loving you felt like logging into a private server only the two of you could access â quiet, secure, and safe.
And Idia, for all his dramatics and gloom-posting, loved you with an intensity that didnât need fanfare. Just⊠data. And intention.
So, when he decided to propose, he made it a quest.
Literally.
You received a handmade invitation on your phone one morning: "Player 2, your presence is requested for a legendary raid. Final boss: Emotional Vulnerability. Rewards: Eternal Love + Rare Ring Drop. Do you accept?"
He built the whole thing himself: a pixel-art RPG styled just like your favorite fantasy games. The title? âShroud.exe: A Love Story.â
As you played through it, you encountered your story together â from your first awkward hangouts in the Ignihyde dorm, to the moment you held his hand during a panic attack, to every late-night cuddle session where his hair dimmed peacefully beside you. Every NPC was a digital recreation of your favorite characters (Ortho, obviously, had an adorable role as the overly enthusiastic love-coach sidekick).
Each level was built with custom dialogue, full of Idiaâs signature wit and fourth-wall breaking commentary:
âThis is the part where MC doesnât leave me despite my trash social skills. Truly S-tier behavior.â
âWarning: Final boss approaching. His defense stats are ridiculous but heâs got a glass heart. Weak to unconditional love.â
Finally, at the end of the game, the final cutscene began. And instead of sprites on screen, the video feed switched to live camera.
There he was.
Idia. Sitting in his room. Nervously fiddling with something in his hands â a small velvet box. His flame-hair flickered erratically, and he was in a carefully chosen outfit youâd never seen him wear before. Formal, but still unmistakably him.
He looked directly at the camera â right at you.
âI, uh⊠I figured I should do this in a way that makes sense for me. For us. Not in some overhyped, real-world, normie way with candles and violins and⊠people.â He cringed just saying that last part.
âBut I wanted it to be real. So⊠here I am.â
He opened the box with trembling fingers. Inside was a ring shaped like a circuit loop, inlaid with glowing lapis and delicate code etchings â the ones you both designed together for fun once. The pattern pulsed faintly with light.
âIâm not good at words IRL, but I can say this: Youâre my favorite co-op partner. You made all my side quests feel like main storyline material. So, will you⊠like, marry me? And maybe keep patching me for the rest of our lives?â
You didnât even need the dialogue box to appear.
You just whispered "Yes" to the screen â and moments later, Ortho popped into the game world cheering with pixel fireworks in the background.
You looked up â and there Idia was, standing awkwardly in your doorway, holding the ring in real-time. Blushing furiously. Looking like heâd risked everything.
And when you kissed him â he glitched. Heart racing. Code crashing.
And he didnât want to reboot. Ever.
Lilia Vanrouge
He had watched centuries pass like seasons. Heâd lived through empires and starlight, laughter and war. Heâd known many things â joy, grief, loyalty, loss â but love? True, soul-deep love? That was rare. Precious.
You, however, had changed that.
He never planned to fall for you. It simply happened. Like a song that begins as a hum and ends in a chorus that takes your breath away. With every shared moment â your laugh, your clever comebacks, your kindness â you pulled him out of memory and rooted him firmly in the now.
And so, one day, when the time felt quiet and right â he began to prepare.
The proposal wasnât flashy. It was intimate. Liliaâs style had always been part mischief, part myth, part poetry. And so, he invited you to a place he hadnât shown anyone in centuries.
A clearing deep within Briar Valleyâs forest â hidden beneath vines and weeping trees, where the moonlight filtered through like silver lace. Fireflies lit the air in lazy constellations. In the center stood an old, stone ruin covered in moss â a place once sacred to the fae.
Lilia held your hand and stepped into the clearing with you, a small smile on his lips.
âDo you know what this place was?â he asked, voice soft like dusk. âIt was a fae courting ground. We used to come here when we were ready to say, âThis is it. This is the one Iâll write songs about.ââ
You blinked at him â heart stuttering.
He stepped back from you, then lifted his hand. Magic shimmered like crushed moonlight around his fingers. With one slow motion, the ruins bloomed to life â glowing vines wrapping around pillars, flowers that hadn't blossomed in centuries opening in a swirl of glowing petals. The whole grove sighed, as if exhaling from a deep sleep.
âIâve done many things,â Lilia said, stepping closer again, eyes shining. âIâve lived through battles and lullabies. But Iâve never done this. Never wanted to. Not until you.â
He reached into the folds of his cloak and pulled out a delicate silver ring carved in the shape of intertwined bat wings and thorns, centered with a faintly glowing green stone that looked like a captured firefly.
Kneeling â he looked up at you, unguarded and eternal.
âYou have made my immortality feel like a blessing again. Would you walk with me through what years I have left, and let me love you through each one? Will you marry me?â
The forest held its breath with you.
When you said yes, his smile was the softest thing youâd ever seen. He pulled you close â kissed you slowly â and whispered, âThen weâll write a love story even time wonât forget.â
Sebek Zigvolt
For a long time, Sebek Zigvolt didnât understand love. Not in the way he understood duty, or training, or the fierce loyalty he bore for Lord Malleus. Love was⊠unpredictable. Emotional. Disruptive.
But when he began to feel it â first in small ways, like watching you speak with others and getting irrationally flustered, or the way your touch lingered in his mind for days â he was angry at it. Frustrated.
And yet, you stayed. Through his yelling, his dramatics, his constant declarations of greatness on behalf of Malleus. You never teased him. You understood him.
One evening, after an exhausting mission outside Briar Valley, you found him standing guard alone under a stormy sky â soaked, grim, but stubborn as ever. You put your cloak around his shoulders and stood beside him in the rain.
He never forgot that moment.
It was when he realized: You are who I want to stand beside forever.
Sebekâs proposal took months of planning. Everything had to be worthy â of you, of his feelings, and of the future he wanted to protect. He asked Lilia for advice (and immediately regretted it after hearing âfake dragon attack for dramatic flairâ â no thank you), trained twice as hard every morning, and spent evenings carving something in secret.
When the day came, he invited you to the castle gardens of Diasomnia at sunrise. The sky was still dark and quiet, a soft mist curling between hedges and dragon statues.
Sebek stood waiting at the center, in formal attire â the ceremonial armor of the Draconia Guard, silver and forest green, etched with runes that glowed faintly with magic. He turned when you arrived, eyes wide and serious, breath fogging in the cold air.
âI⊠I wanted to say this in the place where my heart was forged â under these towers, in these shadows, where I learned what it meant to serve.â
He stepped forward, taking your hands in his own â warm despite the chill.
âBut then I met you. And I learned something greater than duty. I learned love. Fierce. Relentless. Protective. The kind I would fight for. Die for. Live for.â
From his belt, he drew a small box. Inside it was a ring made from polished emerald steel â hand-forged, slightly rough around the edges, but unmistakably beautiful. It bore his family crest inside and tiny runes around the band for strength, loyalty, and passion.
âI will not promise perfection. I am loud. I am difficult. But I swear to be yours with every heartbeat I have. To protect, to cherish, and to learn. Always.â
He dropped to one knee â knight-like, formal, trembling â and looked up at you as though you were the most sacred being in the world.
âWould you do me the extraordinary honor⊠of becoming my partner? My future? My heart?â
Your âyesâ rang through the mist like sunlight.
When he stood, his composure nearly broke â eyes damp, mouth trembling â and when he kissed you, it was with the passion of someone who had finally learned what it meant to love freely.
And though he never said it aloud again in front of others â in private, every night after, he whispered: âThank you for choosing me.â
Dropping by to say that I absolutely live for your Phainon/Mydei X reader stories!! IDk if youll be interested in this idea but hear me out.. Since reader is so oblivious, what do you think would be our reaction to Mydei trying to flirt with reader in a Kreamnoan way? Sparring, Gifting weapons, ect. And would Phainon pass out from laughing at his attempts or actually try to be a wingman in this situation?
I love this idea, phainon would enjoy this. He would definitely tease Mydei, but he would help him, too.
Mydei x (fem)reader
The sun hung high over the training grounds, its golden light reflecting off the polished steel of the weapons scattered around. The air was thick with the scent of metal and sand, the rhythmic clash of blades ringing through the open space as Mydei and Y/N sparred.
Mydeiâs golden eyes were sharp, focused entirely on Y/N as she lunged toward him, her form precise but still just a little off-balance. He deflected her strike with ease, the weight of their swords meeting with a satisfying clang.
âThat all you got?â he teased, stepping back smoothly, effortlessly avoiding her next swing.
Y/N huffed, rolling her shoulders before gripping her sword tighter. âIâm just getting warmed up.â
A smirk tugged at the corner of Mydeiâs lips. Good. He liked a challenge. More importantly, he liked watching her fightâit showed her determination, her will. And in Kremnoan tradition, strength was everything.
Any other Kremnoan would have immediately understood the significance of his actions But Y/N?
She just thought he was a good friend.
So now he had to resort to a different method.
His grip tightened on his own blade as he surged forward, his movements deliberateânot aiming to overpower her, but to guide her into a rhythm, a dance of steel and instinct. Y/N met him head-on, eyes bright with determination, and for a moment, Mydei nearly forgot his original goal.
Then she grinned, dodging one of his strikes with surprising agility.
âYou almost got me there,â she teased.
Mydei exhaled sharply through his nose, willing down the warmth creeping up his neck. Focus.
He moved fast, catching her sword with his own and stepping in closer, their faces mere inches apart. âYou fight well,â he murmured, voice lower than usual. âBut you still have much to learn.â
Y/N blinked up at him, momentarily caught off guard. But before she could register anything, he took a step back, lowering his sword slightly.
âYou should learn from me,â Mydei continued, his tone calm, almost⊠inviting. âI can teach you properly.â
Y/N brightened, nodding eagerly. âReally? Youâd do that?â
Mydei barely resisted the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose. Yes. Obviously. Thatâs the whole point. Instead, he simply nodded, expression unreadable.
On the sidelines, Phainon leaned lazily against a wooden post, watching the scene unfold with an amused glint in his blue eyes. He took a slow sip of his drink, barely holding in his laughter.
Y/N had no idea what was happening.
And Mydei was suffering.
Their blades clashed again, the force of the impact sending a small vibration up Y/Nâs arm. She was getting better, Mydei notedânot as easy to push back, more sure-footed with each step.
But she was still a step behind him.
He decided to test something. Instead of countering her next strike, he let her sword glance off his, shifting his weight so she overextended just a littleâjust enough for him to use her momentum against her.
In a swift, precise motion, he hooked his foot behind her ankle, pivoted, and swept her legs out from under her.
Y/N let out a startled oof as she hit the ground, blinking up at him in shock.
Before she could move, Mydei was already on her, one knee pressing lightly against her thigh, one arm braced against the dirt beside her head. His other hand grasped her wrist, pinning it to the ground in a firm but careful hold. His golden eyes locked onto hers, sharp and unwavering.
For a beat, there was only silence between them, the weight of his presence pressing down like an unspoken challenge.
Then, Y/N grinned.
âThat was awesome!â she exclaimed.
Mydeiâs eye twitched.
She wriggled her wrist slightly. âOkay, so how do I get out of this position?â
By Nikador, give me strength.
He exhaled sharply through his nose, tightening his grip just slightly as he leaned in closer. âThat depends,â he murmured, his voice lower than usual. âDo you want to get out of it?â
Y/N tilted her head, considering his words. âWell, yeah? I mean, what if someone else does this in a fight? I need to know how to counter it, right?â
There was a very long pause.
Somewhere off to the side, Phainon let out a choked sound that was definitely not a cough.
Mydeiâs jaw clenched. He didnât need to look to know Phainon was watching this disaster unfold with way too much amusement.
Still hovering over Y/N, he inhaled slowly, trying to push down his growing frustration. âItâs not just about the fight,â he said carefully, watching her expression for any sign of recognition. âItâs aboutâŠâ He searched for the right words, ones that she would understand.
Y/N blinked up at him, expectant, curiousâcompletely and utterly unaware of what he was trying to say.
Phainon made another barely contained sound from the sidelines.
Mydeiâs eye twitched again.
He closed his eyes briefly, exhaling a slow breath before finally pushing himself off her. âForget it,â he muttered.
Y/N sat up quickly, dusting herself off. âWait, did I miss something?â
âYes.â
ââŠWhat was it?â
âNothing.â
Y/N frowned but shrugged it off, already stretching her arms, completely unaware of Mydeiâs silent suffering.
Meanwhile, Phainon was practically vibrating with barely suppressed laughter, his blue eyes gleaming with pure schadenfreude.
Mydei shot him a murderous glare.
Phainon smirked.
Oh, this was too good.
Y/N stretched her arms over her head, rolling out her shoulders as she caught her breath. âMan, I really need to work on counters,â she mused. âYou keep knocking me on my ass.â
Mydei ran a hand through his hair, barely restraining a sigh. âYouâll improve,â he said, though his tone was a little strained.
Not at this rate, he thought to himself.
Phainon, still perched nearby, was doing his best to smother his smirk behind one hand. He was failing miserably.
âAlright, Iâll clean up,â Y/N said, already moving toward the weapon rack.
âNo need.â Mydei stepped in front of her, reaching down to pick up her sword instead. He turned it over in his hands, the blade catching the light.
Y/N tilted her head. âWhat?â
He exhaled slowly. Fine. If words donât work, maybe actions will.
âThis isnât good enough for you,â he said, inspecting the sword with mild disdain before looking back at her. âItâs too light. Not balanced properly. You need something better.â
Y/N blinked. âI mean, I like itââ
âItâs not good enough.â His voice was firm, brooking no argument. âCome with me.â
Without waiting for a response, he turned on his heel and started walking toward the armory.
Y/N hesitated for only a second before following.
Behind them, Phainon slow-blinked before standing as well. âOh, I have to see this.â
The moment they stepped inside, Y/Nâs eyes lit up. The rows of polished weapons, the gleaming suits of armor, the scent of oiled leather and sharpened steelâit was beautiful.
Mydei didnât waste time. He led her straight to a display of swords, scanning them with a critical eye.
âThis one.â He reached for a blade and held it out to her.
Y/N took it carefully, her fingers curling around the hilt. It was heavier than her old one, the craftsmanship finer. The weight felt solid in her grip. âWhoa⊠This is nice.â
Mydei nodded in satisfaction. âItâll suit you better.â
She grinned. âThanks! Iâll make sure to train hard with it.â
Mydeiâs expression remained unreadable as he stepped slightly closer, lowering his voice. âItâs not just about training.â
Y/N blinked up at him. âHuh?â
Mydei exhaled slowly, as if willing her to understand. âWeapons are important in Kremnos. Theyâre an extension of yourself. You donât just use themâyou rely on them, trust them.â He paused, his gold eyes steady on hers. âGiving someone a weapon is a sign of trust. Of something deeper.â
For a moment, the air between them shifted.
Thenâ
âOhhh, this is fantastic,â Phainonâs voice cut in, absolutely thrilled.
Mydei tensed visibly as Y/N turned to look at him.
Phainon leaned against a nearby rack, arms crossed, grinning like he had just found his new favorite thing in the world.
âI was wondering how long it would take you to do this,â Phainon continued. âAnd yetââ he gestured vaguely at Y/N, who was still just smiling in appreciation, utterly unaware ââshe still doesnât get it.â
Y/N frowned. âGet what?â
Mydei gritted his teeth.
Phainon snickered. âNothing, sweetheart. Nothing at all.â
Y/N huffed and turned back to Mydei, giving the sword a few practice swings. âAnyway, this really is amazing. I love it. Thank you, Mydei.â
For a fraction of a second, Mydei felt his composure slip. Her wordsâsimple as they wereâsettled deep in his chest.
ââŠGood,â he muttered, looking away.
Phainon grinned wider. Oh, this was never going to get old.
The streets of Okhema bustled with life, filled with merchants calling out their wares, the scent of fresh bread and spices filling the air. Y/N strolled ahead, glancing at the different stalls with interest, occasionally stopping to admire something or chat with a vendor.
Phainon and Mydei trailed behind her, the latter watching her carefully, as if contemplating his next move.
âYouâre thinking about it, arenât you?â Phainon asked, smirking.
Mydei barely spared him a glance. âThinking about what?â
âYour next attempt.â Phainon stretched his arms behind his head. âItâs honestly fascinating watching you try.â
Mydei ignored him. This time, he had a new approach. If direct gifts and sparring didnât work, perhaps a more⊠personal experience would.
Ahead of them, Y/N had stopped at a fruit stall, eyes lighting up at the sight of some unfamiliar fruit. âOh, these look amazing.â
The vendor grinned. âA rare specialty! Grown only in the far southern regions.â
Y/N hummed in thought. âI wonder what they taste like.â
Before she could reach for one, Mydei had already stepped forward. With a single sharp glance, he picked out the best-looking fruit, tossed a few coins onto the counter, and turned to her.
âHere.â He held it out, his expression unreadable.
Y/N blinked. âOh, wow! Thanks, Mydei!â She accepted it without hesitation and took a bite. âOhhh, this is so good.â
Mydei watched her reaction carefully, the smallest bit of satisfaction creeping in. Finally, progress.
Thenâ
âSo, this is your next strategy?â Phainonâs voice practically purred from beside him.
Mydeiâs eye twitched.
Y/N, still savoring the fruit, turned to them. âStrategy? What are you talking about?â
Phainon casually leaned against a nearby stall, his smirk widening. âOh, nothing. Just admiring Mydeiâs⊠tactics.â
Mydei clenched his jaw, barely restraining the urge to throw Phainon into the nearest crate of cabbages.
Y/N, still blissfully unaware, happily chewed. âYou should try one too, Mydei! Here.â
Without hesitation, she grabbed his wrist and pressed the fruit to his lips.
For half a second, Mydei froze. His gold eyes locked onto hers, and the world tilted just slightly.
She had no idea. None at all.
And then, as if to torture him further, Phainon let out the most obnoxiously loud snort of laughter Mydei had ever heard.
âYouââ Mydei turned his head just slightly, glaring.
Phainon held up both hands, but his shoulders shook with silent laughter. âOh, please continue. This is beautiful.â
Meanwhile, Y/N was still waiting. âWhatâs wrong?â
Nothing. Everything.
Slowly, Mydei leaned forward, taking a small bite from the fruit she still held up for him. The sweet taste lingered on his tongue, but the warmth of her fingers against his was far more distracting.
âGood,â he murmured.
Y/N beamed. âRight?! We should buy more!â
She turned back to the vendor, already discussing how many she wanted, completely missing the way Mydei exhaled sharply, reining himself back in.
Beside him, Phainon wiped a tear from his eye. âYou are so down bad, itâs actually painful.â
Mydei didnât even respond. He simply took another slow breath, clenched his fists, and prepared for his next attempt.
Because he would succeed. Eventually.
Maybe.
The evening air in Okhema had cooled, the marketâs liveliness gradually settling into a more relaxed hum. People wandered at a slower pace, street lamps flickering to life, casting a warm glow over the cobbled paths.
Mydei sat alone on a bench near the marketplace, arms crossed, his golden eyes narrowed in deep thought. The interaction from earlier still lingered in his mindâthe way she had unknowingly flustered him, the way Phainon had nearly died laughing at his expense.
This isnât working.
He had given her a sword. He had sparred with her, tested her strength, tried to offer her foodâall of which were clear, meaningful signs of courting in Kremnos. And yet, she remained completely, utterly oblivious.
He exhaled sharply, his frustration barely contained.
Then came the sound of slow, deliberate footsteps.
Phainon.
Mydei didnât even have to look up to know it was him.
âSulking already?â Phainon drawled, dropping down onto the bench beside him, stretching his arms behind his head. âDidnât think Iâd see the great Mydei looking so defeated.â
Mydei scowled. âIâm not defeated.â
âOh?â Phainon smirked, turning his blue eyes toward him. âBecause from where Iâm sitting, it sure looks like it.â
Mydei exhaled, dragging a hand down his face. He hated this. Not the challengeâhe lived for challengesâbut the sheer absurdity of this one.
âWhat else am I supposed to do?â he muttered, more to himself than to Phainon. âShe doesnât understand what any of it means.â
Phainonâs smirk widened. âWell, yeah. Thatâs the best part.â
Mydei turned to glare at him, and Phainon held up his hands in mock surrender.
âLook,â Phainon continued, clearly enjoying himself. âIf she doesnât understand Kremnoan courting, then maybe itâs time you try something⊠else.â
ââŠElse?â
Phainon nodded, shifting to lean forward, his elbows resting on his knees. âYouâve been treating this like a battleâstrategizing, making moves, all that. But Y/Nâs not Kremnoan, Mydei. She doesnât think like one.â
Mydei frowned, considering this.
âSo.â Phainon grinned. âLucky for you, I happen to have a very brilliant idea.â
Mydei arched a brow. âYou?â
Phainon placed a hand over his chest, feigning offense. âIâll ignore that. Because this idea? Foolproof.â
Mydei sighed. âLetâs hear it, then.â
Phainonâs grin widened.
âWe make her fall for you,â he said smoothly. âThe way sheâd understand.â
Mydei narrowed his eyes. âAnd how, exactly, do you propose we do that?â
Phainon leaned in slightly. âSimple. We play by her rules.â
Mydei remained skeptical, but Phainon only laughed.
âOh, trust me,â Phainon said, clapping a hand on Mydeiâs shoulder. âThis is going to be fun.â
Phainonâs grin had only grown wider as he observed the skepticism on Mydeiâs face. The Kremnoan warrior looked utterly unconvinced, his golden eyes scrutinizing him as if trying to gauge whether this was another one of his ridiculous ideas.
Spoiler: It was.
But that didnât mean it wouldnât work.
âAlright,â Mydei said at last, arms still crossed. âIâll bite. Whatâs your plan?â
Phainon leaned back, tapping a finger against his chin. âWell, first of all, letâs establish somethingâyouâve been trying to court Y/N your way, right? Sparring, weapons, food, all that.â
âYes.â
âAnd she has no idea whatâs happening.â
ââŠYes.â
Phainon clapped his hands together. âWhich means itâs time for a new approach. One that makes sense to her.â
Mydei gave him a flat stare. âYou keep saying that. What does it mean?â
Phainon grinned. âIt means weâre going to romance her the way she understands.â
Silence.
Mydei stared at him as if heâd just suggested storming a fortress alone and unarmed.
ââŠWhat?â
âOh, you heard me,â Phainon said, far too pleased with himself. âIf she doesnât understand Kremnoan courting, then we do it her way. Flirting, compliments, maybe even gaspââ he feigned a dramatic pause ââa date.â
Mydei visibly stiffened. âThatâsââ
âNot your style? Obviously,â Phainon cut in, waving a hand. âBut thatâs the point. You need to do something different.â
Mydei looked like he was regretting every choice that had led him to this conversation. ââŠA date.â
âA casual one,â Phainon said, nodding sagely. âSomething low pressure. You donât have to call it a date if that makes you want to run into battle instead.â
Mydei still didnât look convinced.
Phainon sighed. âListen, Mydei. Do you want her to see you as more than a sparring partner, or do you want to keep swinging swords at each other forever?â
Silence again.
Then, Mydei exhaled sharply through his nose, golden eyes dark with reluctant acceptance.
ââŠFine.â
Phainon smirked. âGreat. Step one: Youâre going to ask her to spend time with youâoutside of training.â
Mydei narrowed his eyes. âLikeâŠ?â
Phainon shrugged. âA walk. A festival. Even something as simple as grabbing food together.â He smirked. âYou do eat, donât you?â
Mydei rolled his eyes. âObviously.â
âGood,â Phainon said. âNow for step twoâcompliments.â
Mydei looked even more reluctant at that.
Phainon grinned. âDonât worry, Iâll help you out.â He cleared his throat, adopting a dramatic pose. âY/N, your strength in battle is admirable, but itâs your presence that truly sets the battlefield ablazeââ
Mydei promptly shoved him off the bench.
Phainon howled with laughter as he hit the ground.
âYou deserved that,â Mydei muttered.
âI absolutely did,â Phainon wheezed, sitting up. âBut you get my point.â
Mydei exhaled, rubbing his temple. ââŠFine. Iâll try.â
Phainon beamed. âThatâs the spirit.â
Now, he just had to see how Mydei would pull this off.
It took Mydei two full days to actually work up the nerve to put Phainonâs ridiculous plan into action.
It wasnât that he was scaredâhe was a warrior, after all. He had faced countless battles, endured rigorous training, and held his own against some of the strongest fighters in Okhema.
But this?
This was an entirely different kind of battlefield.
Phainon, of course, was enjoying every moment of it. He was leaning against a nearby wall, arms crossed, watching Mydei with way too much amusement as he approached Y/N.
Mydei shot him a warning glare before he turned his focus on her.
She was standing in the courtyard, stretching her arms after finishing some light training. The late afternoon sun caught in her hair, making her lookâŠ
âŠTch. He wasnât going to let himself get distracted.
âY/N.â His voice came out sharper than intended.
She blinked and looked over at him, smiling. âOh, hey, Mydei. Whatâs up?â
Mydei cleared his throat. Okay. Casual. Just ask her to spend time with you.
ââŠWould you like to join me?â
Y/N tilted her head. âFor what?â
Damn it, Mydei, specify.
He clenched his jaw. âToââ He barely stopped himself from saying train. ââŠFor food.â
Her eyes lit up. âOh! Sure! Iâm starving.â
Phainon, from the sidelines, gave Mydei a double thumbs-up.
Mydei ignored him.
It wasnât a date.
At least, Mydei wasnât calling it that.
But sitting across from Y/N at the bustling market eatery, watching her happily pick at the food, he couldnât ignore the⊠different feeling settling in his chest.
This wasnât sparring. There were no weapons, no battle strategies.
Just⊠her.
âThis place has really good food,â Y/N said between bites. âIâm surprised you suggested it.â
ââŠWhy?â Mydei asked.
She shrugged. âI dunno, I figured if we were hanging out outside of training, itâd be something warrior-like.â She grinned. âLike arm wrestling or hunting a beast or something.â
Mydeiâs grip on his drink tightened. âI can do things other than fight.â
âI know, I justââ She laughed. âItâs just funny seeing you in a setting like this.â
ââŠIs it?â
âA little.â She smiled. âBut I like it.â
Mydeiâs brain shut down for a second.
Phainon, who was conveniently sitting at a table nearby (acting as the worldâs worst âsubtle observerâ), nearly choked on his drink.
To Y/N, it was just a casual statement.
To Mydei?
It felt like a damn victory.
âŠTch. Focus.
âYour form has improved,â he said suddenly, the words coming out before he could stop them.
Y/N blinked. âHuh?â
Mydei set his cup down. âYour footwork. I noticed it earlier. More controlled.â
Y/N perked up. âOh! Thanks! Iâve been working on it.â
Encouraged by the way her face lit up, Mydei pushed forward.
âYour speed, too. Faster than before.â
She grinned. âYou are paying attention.â
âOf course I am.â
Y/N laughed. âWow, Mydei. That was almost a compliment.â
ââŠIt was a compliment.â
She giggled. âI know, I know, I just like teasing you.â
From across the room, Phainon wiped a fake tear from his eye. Heâs learning.
After their not-a-date, Mydei realized something.
Compliments actually worked.
And so, he tried again.
The next day, they were walking through the city streets when he noticed Y/N adjusting her outfit, fixing the loose fabric.
It was a simple gesture. Nothing unusual.
But Mydeiâremembering Phainonâs words about flirting in a way she understandsâdecided to speak.
âThat suits you.â
Y/N blinked up at him. âHuh?â
âThe color,â he said, a little gruffly. âIt looks good on you.â
Y/N looked down at herself, then back up at him with a surprised smile.
âOh⊠thanks!â
She was happy.
Which meant he was satisfied.
But just as he was about to move on, Phainonâwho had been lurking (again)âwhistled.
Mydei turned sharply to see him leaning against a stall, watching with barely contained laughter.
âOh, donât mind me,â Phainon said, waving a hand. âIâm just so proud.â
Mydei clenched his jaw. Ignore him. Ignore him.
But Phainon wasnât done.
âYouâre really improving, Mydei. Soon youâll be a natural at this!â
Mydei grabbed the nearest fruit off a vendorâs stall and chucked it at him.
Phainon dodged (barely) and ran off, laughing his ass off.
Y/N, completely oblivious to all of it, just smiled at Mydei again.
ââŠYouâre being really nice today.â
I am always nice, Mydei wanted to say, but that would be a blatant lie.
Instead, he muttered, âTch. Donât get used to it.â
And somehow, that made her laugh.
Mydei had never taken Phainonâs advice before.
Mostly because Phainon was an idiot.
But after their last conversationâwhere Phainon insisted that âsmall, casual touchesâ were an effective way to fluster someoneâMydei found himself considering it.
Ridiculous, he had thought at first. Pointless.
And yetâŠ
Here he was.
They were walking back through the marketplace again. The setting sun cast warm orange hues across the stone streets, and the air buzzed with the chatter of vendors closing up for the day.
Y/N walked beside him, talking animatedly about somethingâhe wasnât even sure what. He was distracted.
Because a strand of her hair had come loose, falling in front of her face.
This is it, Mydei thought.
Phainonâs voice echoed in his head: Just brush her hair back. Itâs a smooth move. Works every time.
Dumb.
But effective?
There was only one way to find out.
So he did it.
Mid-conversation, he reached out, fingers brushing lightly against her cheek as he tucked the stray strand of hair behind her ear.
Simple. Quick. Just as Phainon suggested.
But the reaction?
He hadnât expected that.
Y/N froze. Mid-step, mid-sentence.
Her words died in her throat as her eyes widened slightly.
For once, she was flustered.
She blinked up at him, a little stunned, her mouth opening like she wanted to say somethingâbut nothing came out.
Mydei stared back at her, and for a brief moment, he felt a rush of satisfaction.
Then it hit him.
Oh.
Oh no.
What if she realizes? What if she figures it out?
He hadnât thought that far ahead.
So, naturally, he did what he always did in unfamiliar situationsâhe defaulted to stoicism.
ââŠYour hair was in your face,â he said gruffly, looking away as if it was nothing.
Y/N blinked again. âOh. Uhâright. Thanks.â
She laughed, a little awkwardly, rubbing the back of her neck.
Mission success?
Mydei wasnât sure. But he was sure of one thingâ
Phainon, who had been watching from a nearby rooftop (because of course he was), was howling with laughter.
Mydei shot him a glare so deadly it couldâve killed a god.
Phainon just wiped a tear from his eye and gave him a dramatic thumbs-up.
Later that evening, when Y/N had gone off on her own, Mydei found himself regretting everything.
Because Phainon was never going to let this go.
âOh Mydei,â Phainon sang, throwing an arm around his shoulder as they walked. âYou absolute natural. Did you see her face? She froze. I almost fell off the roof trying not to scream.â
âShut up.â
Phainon ignored him. âThe hair move was perfect. Subtle. Smooth. Iâm so proud.â
Mydei exhaled sharply, shrugging him off. âIt was nothing.â
âIt was everything,â Phainon countered. âYouâre actually getting somewhere! Now you just need toââ
âI donât need your advice.â
âSure you do,â Phainon grinned. âBecause I know youâre going to try again.â
Mydei said nothing.
Because, damn it, he wasnât wrong.
After Phainon had finally stopped laughing, Mydei swore to himself that he wouldnât take his advice again. Ever.
And yet, here he was.
Again.
Y/N walked beside him, completely oblivious to his internal struggle. The sun had set, and lanterns flickered along the streets, casting a soft glow over the marketplace. She hummed quietly as she admired some trinkets on display, utterly at ease.
Meanwhile, Mydei was not at ease.
Phainonâs words still echoed in his head: You need to build tension, Mydei. Do something thatâll make her think about you when youâre not around.
Mydei had no idea what the hell that even meant. But after the small success earlier, he figured a slightly bolder approach wouldnât hurt.
Probably.
As they walked, Y/N turned to say somethingâhe barely even heard what. He just saw an opportunity.
So he reached out andâwithout thinkingâlightly brushed his knuckles under her chin, tilting her face up to his for just a second.
The second their eyes met, he let go.
And kept walking like nothing happened.
Y/N stood frozen in place. Again.
Mouth slightly open. Completely, utterly stunned.
Thenâ
Did her face just turn red?
For a brief, glorious moment, Mydei almost smirked.
And thenâ
A very, very loud choking sound came from behind them.
Phainon.
Mydei didnât have to turn around to know his so-called friend was probably on the ground from laughing too hard.
Y/N, still dazed, finally snapped out of it. âUhâwhat wasââ
âNothing,â Mydei said quickly.
Y/N frowned, confused, but didnât push it. âRight. OkayâŠâ
And just like that, she kept walking, muttering something under her breath.
Mydei exhaled slowly.
Was it perfect? No.
Did he get some kind of reaction? Yes.
And that? That was a victory.
Phainon finally caught up to him, barely holding himself together. âIâI canâtâI canât breatheââ
Mydei shot him a sharp look. âSay another word and I will throw you off this bridge.â
Phainon wiped away a tear, gasping between laughs. âWorth it.â
Mydei sighed. Heâd deal with Phainon later.
For nowâŠ
He just glanced at Y/N ahead of himâstill slightly pink in the face.
Maybe, just maybe, he was finally getting somewhere.

Trey Clover
It had been going on for weeks.
Subtle, harmless gestures at firstâsharing his homemade treats, seeking you out in the hallways between classes, and always making sure there was a spare seat beside him at Heartslabyulâs long, rose-lined table. You always took it. Smiling up at him, laughing at his jokes, even leaning against his shoulder sometimes when the evenings stretched long and drowsy under the golden canopy of dusk.
And yet.
You were completely, utterly oblivious.
âYouâre really good at baking, Trey,â you complimented one day as he handed you a small, ribbon-tied box of matcha-flavored sweets, his personal recipe he never shared. You bit into one, eyes lighting up in delight. âI donât know how someone like you is still single.â
Trey blinked.
â...Someone like me?â
âYeah! Tall, dependable, cute smileâyouâre like...dad boyfriend material.â
If he had been drinking tea, he mightâve choked.
Dad boyfriend material?!
Despite the polite, affable smile he wore, a faint twitch of disbelief rippled across his temple. Trey had dropped so many hintsâletting you taste frosting off his finger in the kitchen, gently brushing your hair out of your eyes when you leaned too close to the oven, even calling you âsweetheartâ under his breath when you dozed off during a study session.
And yet, here you were. Thinking he was some domestic teddy bear.
The final straw came during a Heartslabyul tea party, when you reached over to wipe a crumb from the corner of his mouth with your thumb, completely unaware of how red his ears turned.
âYouâre always such a mess after eating cake,â you scolded gently.
âYou do realize,â he said slowly, looking into your eyes with a rare, unreadable intensity, âthat I only ever bring you the first slice.â
âHuh? I just thought I was lucky!â you grinned.
That did it.
He leaned in, lowering his voice as he caged you between the chair and the hedge behind. His gloved hand gently tipped your chin up. âIâve been flirting with you for months,â he murmured. âHow much more obvious do I have to be, shortcake?â
Your mouth dropped open. âWhaâwait, what?!â
Trey laughed softly, finally letting his forehead rest against yours, the tension melting into something warm, golden, and soft. âI swear, youâre sweeter than my tarts and twice as dense.â
Cater Diamond
âOkay, I give up,â Cater announced dramatically, collapsing face-down on the common room couch. âIâve tried everything, and they still donât get it.â
From behind his phone screen, he peeked at you sitting nearby, nose buried in a magazine, completely unaware of his suffering.
It had started as a game at firstâlight teasing, exaggerated winks, the occasional compliment laced with glittering charm.
âLooking good today, babe~â heâd say, snapping a selfie of the two of you while slinging an arm around your shoulders.
âThanks, Cater! You look amazing too, as always!â
But you always said it like a friend. With zero hesitation, zero fluster, zero realization. You treated his affection like background noiseâa quirk of his personality.
Even when heâd rested his head in your lap after a long day and looked up at you with dreamy, sleepy eyes and whispered, âYouâd make a perfect boyfriend, y'know... if youâd let me,â you just chuckled and patted his hair.
âAw, Cater, thatâs sweet. Youâd be a great boyfriend for someone, definitely.â
Someone.
SOMEONE.
He practically screamed into his pillow when he got back to his dorm that night.
Every day since then had been a desperate escalation. He started bringing you your favorite snacks, styling your hair for fun, sending you good morning texts with pet names like âsunshineâ or âmy star.â You responded with gifs. Gifs.
Finally, in a move of last-ditch desperation, he planned the boldest romantic gesture he could think of.
Cater rented out the photo booth in town, the one with the glitter backgrounds and soft lighting. He dragged you inside under the pretense of wanting âa bestie shoot,â and waited for the moment the countdown began.
ThreeâŠ
TwoâŠ
Oneâ
He turned, cupped your face, and kissed your cheek.
Click. Flash.
You blinked at him.
âCater?? What was that for?â
He stared.
âNo, seriously. Are you okay? Did you think I was sad or something? You can talk to me, yâknow.â
Cater threw his hands up and groaned.
âYouâre the one I like!! You! Not as a friend, not as a selfie buddy, not as a human pillowâI like you, you dense little cinnamon bun!â
Your eyes widened. âWait. Are you flirting with me?â
He looked like he aged five years in five seconds.
âYes. YES, BABE. Thatâs what the last four months were. Flirting. Full-throttle, heart-eyes, rom-com level flirting!â
ââŠOh.â
A pause. Then, sheepishly:
âSo⊠wanna take another photo? This time, maybe I kiss you on the lips?â
Cater blinked at your soft smile and the way your hand found his.
And just like that, every ounce of frustration melted into sparkly euphoria. âOh my Seven,â he whispered with a grin. âFinally.â
Leona Kingscholar
Leona was not a man known for patience. In fact, most of the time, he prided himself on getting what he wanted with the least amount of effort. He was sharp, cunning, and confident enough to know that most people would bend over backward just to get a sliver of his attention. So when he set his sights on youâyou, with your soft laugh, bright eyes, and completely clueless smileâhe assumed it would be easy.
It wasnât.
It started small. Heâd lounge in the botanical gardens where he knew you always came to study. He made sure to growl off anyone else who might sit nearby, leaving the two of you in your own little secluded corner. He'd toss you the occasional compliment, his voice lazy and low.
âTch. That look suits you, herbivore. Finally got some style.â
Youâd blink at him with that warm, clueless grin. âOh? Thanks, Leona. My friend helped me pick this outfit.â
He resisted the urge to growl. Again.
Then he escalated. Heâd sit closerâcloser than anyone would consider âjust friends.â He'd drop hints laced with suggestion, his amber eyes narrowing when you remained oblivious. He once even played with your hair, idly running his fingers through it while you yawned and continued taking notes on magical herbology.
It got to the point where Ruggie cornered you in the hallway, shaking his head in disbelief. âYou seriously donât get it? Heâs basically marking his territory every time youâre near!â
âHuh? Leona? Nah, heâs just... touchy sometimes.â
Leona nearly tore his textbooks in half when he heard that.
The final straw came one warm afternoon when you plopped down beside him under the shade of a sprawling tree. You smiled and passed him a snack you'd made, and Leona, in a bold move of desperation and hunger for your attention, leaned down and bit into it directly from your hand, eyes locked on yours the entire time.
You just blinked and said, âYou mustâve been really hungry!â
Leona threw himself backward into the grass with a groan, covering his eyes with his arm.
âSeven hells, youâre dense,â he muttered.
âHuh?â
He sat up again, eyes narrowed, voice husky. âDo I need to spell it out for you, herbivore? Iâm not just hanging around you âcause Iâm bored. Iâm trying to get you to notice me.â
You tilted your head, confused. âBut I do notice youâŠâ
âNo,â he growled, grabbing your wrist gently but firmly, tugging you closer. âNotice me. As in, I want you. You. Me. Together. You seriously didnât get that?â
You froze. And then it hit you like a freight train. The closeness, the compliments, the touches, the possessivenessâ
âOh... OH.â
Leona smirked, fangs glinting in the sun. âTook you long enough.â
Vil Schoenheit
Vil was always graceful, always poised, always in control. He calculated every step, every glance, every smile. So naturally, when he decided to pursue you, he did it with the same precision he applied to a stage performance or a red-carpet event. Subtle glances, gentle compliments, a brush of his fingers across your shoulder. It was a slow-burning courtship that he expected would sweep you off your feet.
But instead?
Nothing.
Nothing but your charming smile and occasional, completely unbothered âThank you, Vil!â or âYouâre so sweet!â before skipping off to your next class.
He chalked it up to modesty at first. Maybe you were shy. Maybe you wanted to play hard to get. But by week three, when he sent you a handpicked bouquet of enchanted roses and you gave them to Professor Treinâs cat because âit matched her fur,â Vil nearly fainted on the spot.
So, he got bolder.
One afternoon, he strode into your dormâs common room while you were curled up on a couch with a book. Wordlessly, he slipped beside you and sat right in your lap, settling as gracefully as ever, legs crossed, arm lazily draped around your shoulders.
You blinked. âAre you tired? You can sit here as long as you need.â
Vilâs eye twitched.
âTired? No, darling, I wanted to sit somewhere comfortable and charming. Surely you understand the appeal.â He leaned in, his breath tickling your ear. âOr is my lap too forward for your delicate sensibilities?â
You laughed lightly. âNope! Youâre light. I didnât even notice the weight. Kinda like a cat. A really fashionable one.â
Fashionable cat?!
Vil nearly stood up right then and there, scandalized. But noâhe took a deep breath. Composure. Poise.
Until you reached up and started patting his head.
âYouâre so pretty, Vil. I hope I can be as pretty as you one day.â
ââŠIâm not trying to be âpretty like you,â Iâm trying to be yours,â he hissed in exasperation, face dangerously close to yours.
You blinked again. âWait⊠what?â
Vilâs patience finally snapped like a taut ribbon.
âFor the love of all that is radiantâI have been flirting with you for months. Iâve complimented you, made time for you, bought you gifts, and now I am literally sitting on your lap! What more must I do? Wear a sign that says âI want to be yoursâ?â
You gaped at him.
ââŠI thought you were just naturally dramatic.â
Vil groaned, burying his face in your neck. âYouâll be the death of me.â
You awkwardly wrapped your arms around him, finally catching on. âWait, so⊠you like me?â
He pulled back just enough to meet your eyes, expression softening ever so slightly. âI more than like you. But you, sweet potato, are so hopelessly dense.â
You laughed nervously, cheeks burning. âIâm really sorry⊠but, um⊠I like you too. I just didnât think youâd like someone like me.â
Vil huffed, but a genuine smile curled on his lips. âWell, youâre mine now. And youâll never be oblivious again, because I wonât give you the chance to miss it.â
Rook Hunt
To Rook, this was a challengeâa delicious, exquisite one.
He was well aware of how utterly unaware you were. The first time he realized, it was during archery club. He complimented the way your arms flexed as you pulled the bowstring, his tone sultry, his gaze locked on you like you were his prey.
You grinned and said, âHaha, thanks! Iâve been working out my shoulders. Good for posture!â
He tilted his head, lips curled in amusement. âAh, ma colombe, you are truly a creature of mystery~â
But instead of giving up, Rook only doubled down. He started leaving flowers at your desk with poetic notesâsometimes with metaphors so thick they practically screamed âI am in love with you!â
You just thought it was a Rook thing.
âYouâre so sweet! You write such beautiful stuff. Have you thought of joining the poetry club?â
Poetry club! Mon dieu, I am baring my soul!
He even tried the "accidental touch" methodâfingers brushing yours when passing a book, hands lingering too long during sparring practice. Yet you never reacted with more than a casual smile and a âYou okay?â
And Rook? He found it thrilling.
âThis unawareness⊠this resistance⊠câest magnifique!â he whispered one day, watching you from the balcony like a Shakespearean ghost. âYou are like a doe in the forest, unaware of the eyes that follow you in reverent adorationâŠâ
The final straw was when he kissed the back of your hand under the moonlight after walking you to your dorm. With an air of mystery and drama, he looked into your eyes and murmured, âBonsoir, ma lumiĂšreâŠâ
You giggled. âWow, you really should join the drama club. That delivery was incredible.â
Rook clutched his chest like heâd been shot, but he was laughing too. Of course. Of course you didnât get it.
But that just made him want you more.
âI shall make it my mission to pierce through the veil of innocence that blinds you, mon trĂ©sor,â he declared to the stars. âYou will see meânot as a friend, not as a fellow studentâbut as the man who has adored you all this time.â
Idia Shroud
It was exhausting trying to flirt with someone who didnât even realize you were the final boss in their dating sim.
Idia never considered himself boldânot IRL, anyway. Most of his romantic experience came from watching his OTPs go through slow-burn arcs in visual novels or tragic anime love stories. But when it came to you, he was trying. Like, genuinely. In his own glitchy, socially awkward way.
Heâd wait outside your classroom âtotally coincidentallyâ with his tablet in hand, acting like he wasnât tracking your class schedule to the minute. He even upgraded Orthoâs AI recognition software just to find excuses to walk past you more often. He quoted romantic lines from his favorite games to you, hoping youâd get itâbut every single time?
Youâd just blink. Smile. Nod like he was being cute.
âOh, that line was so poetic! Is that from a movie or something?â
âB-bro thatâs from Stellar Lust IV! The confession scene where the star-crossed lovers reunite under a dying moon! Are you seriously notâŠ? Nvm.â
One afternoon, he got bold. He invited you to his room. That alone shouldâve been a confessionâno one entered his sacred gaming lair unless they had maximum trust level.
He cleared off a place on the bed, installed RGB mood lighting, even had anime OSTs playing softly in the background. He hyped himself up for weeks for this. He was going to drop a flirt so obvious, even a level 1 NPC could read it.
âSo, u-uh, you ever wonder what itâd be like to⊠yâknow⊠date a genius tech prince who could hack into the city grid just to turn all the traffic lights green for you?â
You tilted your head. âThat sounds dangerous⊠but also kind of cool? Is this part of your new game concept?â
He.exe stopped working.
The blue flames of his hair turned pink for half a second before sizzling back.
He mumbled something incoherent and turned back to his computer, pulling his hoodie so far over his head he looked like a turtle. âN-no, yeah, that was just⊠haha⊠worldbuilding...â
Heâd keep trying though. One day, heâd craft a cutscene so perfect, even you couldnât ignore the affection coded into every line.
Malleus Draconia
Malleus was not used to being ignored. Or overlooked. Or, heaven forbidâmisunderstood. He was the Crown Prince of Briar Valley, the most feared and powerful student on campus. And yet, here he was, casting ancient spells to conjure glowing roses and coaxing fireflies into hearts over your tea cupâonly for you to respond with:
âWow, Malleus! You always make things so aesthetic!â
He blinked. "Aesthetic?"
âYeah! Super vibey. You should be a party planner.â
He nearly short-circuited.
This had been happening for weeks. Heâd memorized your schedule, just so he could âcoincidentallyâ be where you were. Heâd offer to walk you home under the stars, hoping for soft-spoken confessionsâbut you only asked him if he thought raccoons had hierarchies in their little trash kingdoms.
...You were enchanting. But you were driving him mad.
One day, after finding yet another love poem heâd slipped into your book returned with grammar corrections (you thought he was practicing his prose), he decided on something bold. Direct. Unmistakable.
âChild of man,â Malleus said one twilight evening as you both sat beneath a tree, âif I were to tell you that my heart beats differently in your presence, that the night air tastes sweeter when you laughâwhat would you say?â
You tilted your head, thinking. âIâd say you have a really poetic way of saying you like hanging out.â
âI do not merely like hanging out,â he said slowly, brow twitching. âI wish to court you.â
You stared. âLike⊠on trial?â
ââŠRomantically.â
âOhhhh.â
Silence.
âWait, me?!â
Malleus closed his eyes and inhaled. Patience. He could wait a thousand years more. But hopefully not.
Lilia Vanrouge
Lilia Vanrouge had seen centuries of war, peace, love, lossâand yet nothing, nothing, had prepared him for the sheer unshakable obliviousness that was you.
It started innocently enough.
Heâd toss a wink your way whenever he passed by in the hallway. He brought you little trinkets from the village during his off-campus venturesâflowers woven into chains, sweets with hearts drawn on the wrappers, one time even a hairpin shaped like a bat. You had smiled and thanked him with the kind of radiant purity that could blind a mortal man. And then you tucked the bat hairpin in your pencil case.
Your pencil case. Like he was a math worksheet and not a 700+ year old fae trying to court you.
Still, he found it endearing. You were cute in a way that made his ageless heart ache, and he loved a challenge. So he tried harder.
âYou know,â he drawled one afternoon, leaning over your shoulder with a voice like velvet, âin my youth, a suitor might serenade their beloved beneath the moonlight.â
âThatâs sweet,â you said, eyes on your textbook. âDid they ever get noise complaints?â
He blinked. â...Noise complaints?â
âWell, if it was late and they were singing outside someoneâs window⊠I bet a lot of people werenât exactly swooning.â
For a moment, Lilia just stared at you. And then he burst out laughing, so hard he had to wipe a tear from his eye.
âYou are either brilliantly teasing me,â he chuckled, âor heartbreakingly naive.â
You smiled at him, not understanding in the slightest.
The final straw came when he invited you for a midnight flightâromantic, intimate, just the two of you soaring above the moon-drenched trees. You screamed with laughter and clung to him the entire way, yelling about how cool it was and how friends like him were the best.
âFriends,â Lilia repeated afterward, voice soft and low as you happily ate the little picnic heâd prepared.
You looked up. âYeah. Iâm lucky to have you.â
He sighed with a small, defeated smile, but his eyes were warm. âThe luck,â he murmured, âis all mine, dear.â
Where Leona, always insecure and determined about the patheticness of his UM, begins to change after meeting you, an artist who creates glass and crystal figures, and asks him to use his UM to transform glass remains into sand
loved this one <3
Leona hated his Unique Magic. Always had.
Sure, people said it was impressive. The ability to dry anything, to strip it down until it crumbled to dust in your palm? Sounded like the kind of magic suited for a king. Ruinous. Untouchable.
But in practice? It was destructive. Useless. Unoriginal. All it ever did was reduce things into sand. Turn lush greenery into withered husks. Sap water from soil, drain warmth from food, crack even the air with its dryness.
Heâd never found a good reason to use it unless he wanted something to disappear.
And Leona Kingscholar didnât like being reminded that he was good at getting rid of things.
So when you first approached him about it, out of the blue and way too bold for someone who barely knew him, he looked up from the grass in the greenhouse with a deep, annoyed grunt.
âYou want me to what, herbivore?â
You stood over him in that stupid art-stained apron you always wore, holding a cracked chunk of smoky, burnt glass in your gloved hands.
âIâm not asking you to blow anything up, geez,â you said lightly. âI just⊠need some sand.â
He squinted at you, ears twitching slightly. âWhat, the beach too far for you?â
You smiled. âYeah, and your sand is better.â
He blinked. âCome again?â
âThe sand you make. From your UM.â
You lifted the shard to show him its jagged edge.
âSee, this oneâs ruined. The shapeâs off, and itâs scorched. But if I grind it down, melt it again, I could maybe salvage it. But if you could justâturn it back into sand, I could get a cleaner rebatch.â
Leona sat up slowly.
âYou want me to use my Unique Magic⊠on your garbage?â
You didnât flinch at the edge in his tone.
âI want to try turning it into something new.â
Leona almost told you to piss off. Almost.
But you looked at that broken glass with such purpose in your eyes, like you believed something beautiful was still hiding in it.
And for some reasonâmaybe the sun was too hot, or he was too tiredâhe flicked his hand lazily and muttered under his breath.
Kingâs Roar.
The shard crumbled instantly, dissolving into a fine, pale gold powder. Clean. Almost sparkling in the sunlight.
You crouched to scoop it into a container with a small, satisfied hum.
âThatâs perfect,â you said, like youâd just watched a flower bloom.
He raised a brow. âItâs just sand.â
âNo, itâs potential.â
Something shifted in his chest at that. Uncomfortable. Hot.
You came back the next day. And the day after that.
Always with cracked glass or ruined sculptures.
Always asking, softly but with certainty, âCan I borrow your magic again?â And Leona always acted annoyed, always rolled his eyes like he was being inconvenienced, but he never said no.
And eventually, you started bringing things back to show him.
Bowls blown in spirals of color, where specks of sand were like desert stars.
Sculptures that caught sunlight just right, making tiny rainbows on the greenhouse walls.
Or delicate little trinketsâa lionâs paw, a flower blooming in a dishâthat you swore were just âpractice,â but he caught you smiling when he lingered on them too long.
âCouldnâtâve done this without you,â you said once, holding a jar filled with a swirling, amber-hued hourglass.
âYour sandâs smoother than anything I could get from crushing it myself. It melts cleaner. Glows brighter.â
Leona grunted. âYouâre the one doing all the work. Iâm just breaking things.â
âYouâre not breaking anything,â you said. âYouâre giving me a chance to start over.â
He didnât know what to say to that.
Because no one had ever said that before. Not to him.
Weeks passed like that. And slowly, Leona started to wait for you. Subtly. Not that heâd admit it.
Heâd lie on the grass and tilt one ear toward the greenhouse entrance, pretending to nap while secretly hoping for your footsteps.
He found himself pocketing little broken pebbles on walks, wondering if you could use them. Once, he even caught himself thinking about what kind of glass he would be, if you ever sculpted him.
(Probably dark. Sharp. A piece that refused to be molded.)
One afternoon, you showed up carrying a bundle in cloth.
âThis oneâs for you,â you said, unwrapping it.
âI made it from the first batch of sand you gave me.â
It was a glass lionâsmall enough to fit in his palm, all sweeping mane and proud curve. Not flashy, but warm, like the sun on stone.
Leona stared. His mouth went dry.
ââŠWhy?â
You tilted your head.
âBecause I wanted to. Because I thought you deserved something that stayed, instead of just slipping through your fingers.â
Thatâhit something. Deep and buried. Something fragile.
He closed his hand around the glass lion slowly.
ââŠYouâre weird, you know that?â
You smiled. âYouâve mentioned it.â
But when you turned to leave, he spoke again, quietly.
âHey⊠next time youâve got something to ruin, come find me.â
You paused, a little smile blooming on your face. âYeah?â
He shrugged, looking away. âMight as well make some use outta this busted magic, huh?â
Your voice was soft. âItâs not busted, Leona. It just needed the right hands to show what it could become.â
His tail flicked.
For the first time in years, Leona Kingscholar didnât think of his magic as something to be ashamed of.
He thought of sand in your hands. And glass glowing gold.
And he feltâmaybeâfor onceâ
Useful.
