Omg omg omggg i caann’t 😭

This song is the most Beatles song I’ve ever heard and it’s such a wonderful homage and testament to their Time defying genius, innovation and bond, from Then until Now 🥲

John’s timeless vocals :(

Ringo’s iconic “1, 2, 3, 4” :(

George’s “Something” and “My Sweet Lord” guitar solos :(

The “If I Fell” drumming :(

The “Across the Universe” and “The End” harmonies :(

The “Martha my Dear” piano :(

The “Walrus” and “She’s Leaving Home” orchestra swell and staccato string that reminds us that George Martin really was the indispensable fifth Beatle :(

The tambourine from the early songs :(

The psychedelic eastern inspired strings :(

Paul in the back, harmonizing with John, so recognizable on the Love You 🥲 (because that’s the simplest and purest representation on their relationship and legacy, and really that’s so much of what this song is about 😭)

So many different eras and musical pioneering moments, so much individual creativity and collaboration and love that makes the Beatles absolutely magical, captured in one song 🥲 how is this allowed 😭

i think ANOTHER thing that drives me up the wall insane is that john sounds so alone in the demo well because he was! now and then was him singing by himself in his apartment. but this sound wall technique fills up your whole body with the love that paul, ringo and george poured into it, there isnt a moment where he has to sing alone anymore, theyre all with him again

Hiya Beatlemaniacs, Long Time No See! Just Like Many Of You, I Too Have Been Obsessively Been Re-watching

Hiya beatlemaniacs, long time no see! Just like many of you, I too have been obsessively been re-watching Get Back to an unhealthy degree, and my hyper fixations (or coping mechanisms lol) usually manifest themselves as quick doodles! and I’ve also been obsessed with @m1ssunderstanding ‘s Get Back recap posts (they’re so in-depth and iconique check them out) , and I was wondering if y’all would be interested in seeing daily (or weekly lol) new doodles recapping each days of the documentary? 👀 I have a few already finished but it would be a fun lengthy project for me and I’m excited to potentially experiment with different styles and see how things evolve?

Beatles' 'Now and Then': The story behind their last song - Los Angeles Times

The untold story behind the last Beatles song
Los Angeles Times
John Lennon's late-’70s song 'Now and Then,' now featuring all four Beatles, serves as a fitting conclusion, conveying what the band both ac

Robbed of the opportunity to participate in a true final collaboration with his greatest muse, McCartney instead elevates this suggestion of a song into a realized record, one where its elegant, softly psychedelic flow lets Lennon’s longing linger in the subconscious. That regret is articulated clearly in a chorus of “Now and then, I miss you / Now and then, I want you to be there for me / Always to return to me,” words that sharpen John’s original intention with its second newly written clause. It’s a passage where Lennon’s yearning for McCartney intertwines with Paul’s mourning for John, a shared grieving for the partnership that defined both their lives. In that sense, “Now and Then” does provide something of a fitting conclusion to the Beatles’ recorded career — not so much a summation but as a coda that conveys a sense of what the band both achieved and lost.

Excuse me while I go cry forever at this paragraph

Culver City, CA (February 20th, 2024) -- Today, Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE), Sam Mendes, and Neal Street Productions announced a groundbreaking creative endeavor to tell the story of The Beatles with four distinct theatrical feature films. The project marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and The Beatles – Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, and the families of John Lennon and George Harrison – have granted full life story and music rights for a scripted film.

As conceived by Mendes, who will direct, the four theatrical feature films – one from each band member’s point-of-view – will intersect to tell the astonishing story of the greatest band in history.

SPE will finance and distribute worldwide with full theatrical windows in 2027. The dating cadence of the films, the details of which will be shared closer to release, will be innovative and groundbreaking.

Mendes will direct all four films and produce alongside his Neal Street Productions partner Pippa Harris and Neal Street’s Julie Pastor. Jeff Jones will executive produce for Apple Corps Ltd.

“I’m honoured to be telling the story of the greatest rock band of all time, and excited to challenge the notion of what constitutes a trip to the movies,” said Sam Mendes.

“We intend this to be a uniquely thrilling, and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives which tell a single story about the most celebrated band of all time,” said Pippa Harris. “To have The Beatles’ and Apple Corps’ blessing to do this is an immense privilege. From our first meeting with Tom Rothman and Elizabeth Gabler, it was clear that they shared both our passion and ambition for this project, and we can’t think of a more perfect home than Sony Pictures.”

“Apple Corps is delighted to collaborate with Sam, Pippa and Julie to explore each Beatle’s unique story and to bring them together in a suitably captivating and innovative way,” said Apple Corps Ltd. CEO Jeff Jones. “Sony Pictures’ enthusiastic support, championing the project’s scope and creative vision from the start, has been invaluable for all of us.”

“I know I speak for our CEO Tony Vinciquerra, who was instrumental in making this happen, and every Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group colleague around the world when I say: ‘yeah, yeah, yeah!’” said Tom Rothman, Chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures’ Motion Picture Group. “Theatrical movie events today must be culturally seismic. Sam’s daring, large-scale idea is that and then some. Pairing his premiere filmmaking team, with the music and the stories of four young men who changed the world, will rock audiences all over the globe. We are deeply grateful to all parties and look forward ourselves to breaking some rules with Sam’s uniquely artistic vision.”
