it’s beautiful wow
I despise your kingdom of fears
Same as your sack of bones
As seconds of a canceled heartbeat
Hushing while rushing
Into this unknown path of the abyss
I despise every word running in my mouth
These tongues running like knives
Cuts every inch
The line blurs
Tired of pretending
In this art of faking
Just to avoid the swiftest bullets
To get rid of their cutting eyes
Bleeding inside our own bubble
Slowly destroying
By the swords of power
Turning hopes to fear
Many words you don't want to hear
Yet they're there
It haunts
Yet it clings
Yet it creeps
Can't see the line
Between your wrath and harmony
Passing the misery
Until it serve it's cost
For I hate your fortress of sorrow
I'm tired carrying your sack of bones
The Amazing Spiderman (2012) dir. Marc Webb + letterboxd reviews
i know it feels like the floor is swaying underneath your feet,
and there are invisible shackles on your wrists binding you to the ways of society,
pulling you down to the depths of their twisted ways,
i know that hope is a fragile rope you’re trying to cling onto,
to pull yourself out of this mess you find yourself overwhelmed with,
and your numb fingers are exhausted of letting people slip away,
and that the future is this jigsaw puzzle,
and you find yourself lacking the pieces to complete the picture,
a picture that you hope will look like, cotton candy skies,
sunny and magical mornings,
salty oceans,
and bouquets of radiant flowers,
and amidst all these uncertain feelings and fears,
i’m here to tell you to take in and enjoy all the little moments happening,
that you will hold close to your heart in the later years,
for miracles to happen,
you need to observe them first,
because magic prevails,
in every piece of your surrounding,
you just need to look close enough,
take a deep breath,
breath out all the stress and the havoc,
be kind,
be honest,
everything will turn out just fine,
i promise.
nothing will ever be as beautiful to me as an entire theater full of teenagers and grown ass adults shrieking their asses off when andrew garfield appeared on the screen during no way home and then the same theater full of teenagers and grown ass adults shrieking their asses off AGAIN once tobey maguire appeared as if that wasn’t the logical conclusion to andrew’s appearance
squid game is such a good way to show how even a "fair game" can screw with people's lives and degrade their worth due to lack of FAIR and equal opportunities.. like the rules were absolutely fair. They were allowed to leave if a majority agrees, everyone was treated equally and all special preference was destroyed.
But if we're all debt ridden, and our chances of survival in the game are higher than in a society where capitalism broadens income inequality, thus trapping the lower classes in debt they possibly cannot repay, would we quit the game? If I have a better chance to repay my debt in here, having witnessed the death of 455 people before winning the final prize, than to scramble around in a world that will never give me an equal chance to repay all the debt I had to take, shouldn't I be taking that chance?
It's easy to sit on a throne of privilege and talk about how we should have valued human lives over the prize money. A lot of contestants did that too.. until they walked out and realised that they couldn't afford being a good human anymore. Their debts took it all away, and now? They can either get the tiniest chance surviving at the end, or they can die trying.
The game, as we saw in the show, had been going on for years. Not because it was well hidden, but because there were always gonna be people with low income, and with debt on their hands, and a society that won't let them earn well enough to pay it back. You can always take more loans to pay off your loans, of course. There's the "gangsters", banks with high interest rates. But fair opportunities? You can only get fair opportunities in a situation where your probability of earning is equal to everyone else.. and that's what the contest gave all these people: a chance.
A chance to be equal. That's something society can't give, but certain rich people gave this away at the possible cost of death.. and people had no chance but to take it.
Squid game isn't about the game at all. It's about how society and capitalism can destroy what it means to be human, and how some people will never be able to afford it at all.
