The idea of english as a mother tongue is so strange to me, in my head english is how ppl communicate when there’s no way in common to communicate, so english as a mother tongue sounds a bit like idk email as a mother tongue ykwim? Like english to me feels like the stuff that’s used to fill the empty spaces between languages

You will persist. You will persevere. There is more to come, there is still good in the world, there is still hope. You have to stick around, open up and embrace the good things that come to you, no matter how small, they are worth living for. Embrace it even when the change is scary. Not everything that comes into your life will crash into you and hurt you. There is more than just chaos and destruction out there. In these trying times, remember that there is still good out there and focus on it. It's easy to forget when we are too anxious and overwhelmed because we are only focusing only on tragedy. Remember that where there is suffering, there is someone willing to help, there is someone fighting, and that there is still hope for the world.

It is November of 1893. You have just killed a vampire. Exhausted and worn, you close your eyes and rest.

You are a guest in a castle you have never been in before (you recognize every hallway and know without trying that every door is locked). Your host is a man you have never met before (you killed him you killed him you killed him he had turned to dust and there was blood on the snow).

One morning you cut yourself while shaving.

There is nobody behind you in the pocket mirror’s reflection.

You turn fast, and the razor is like a Kukri knife in your hand.

‘My vampiric mistress saved me from a life of poverty and destitution, but she made me wait to be turned until I was old enough to take up a trade or go to university. That way I might be taken seriously by the humans which surrounded us, and would have the pick of careers to pursue.

‘Unfortunately, in the six hundred years since, cultural mores have shifted, and now appearing to be fourteen means they won’t even hire me for a weekend shift at the Burger House.’
