Point to remember :))

It doesn't matter if someone you know has completed the whole material twice or thrice, what matters is how much of it you actually remember.

Sadly, our education system does not test how much we know, it only tests how many of the questions we can answer. So, the content you put in your answers matters more than what you know.

So, you're doing good, just don't stop and focus on your own progress. :)

All studyblrs out there, I just wanted to say:

YOUR NOTES NEED NOT BE BEAUTIFUL

OR PERFECT

THEY DON'T NEED TO BE IMMACULATE

CROSSING OUT IS OKAY

CROSS IT OUT AND TRY AGAIN. THAT'S LEARNING.

Your notes CAN be beautiful, perfect, without mistakes. In fact you should be proud of them. But at the same time, crossings out do not make notes any less valuable.

"But ohh they make it look ugly" "ohh but crossing out means I got it wrong"

NO!

You did good.

Crossing it out is recognising that you got it wrong.

Let me ask you this:

How would you know it was wrong if you didn't know what was correct?

The crossed out section is a testament to your learning and I think you should take pride in that as well. Nobody is perfect.

I want to see your imperfect notes with little scribbles and jottings.

Capture the essence of the feverish scholar frantically noting down their ideas as they rush towards a new horizon- their breakthrough. Their ultimate discovery. The thing they've been working on for their entire life.

Capture that essence of "I must, because it has to be done."

But again, at the same time, make them pretty! Put effort into their making! It's no different to a piece of art.

Your notes can be however you want them to be. They are for you and nobody else. If you take pride in them, their purpose is fulfilled.

Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

It was the first day of school, just got my textbooks and the whole class spent the day talking and doing nothing. Classes start tomorrow but I'm starting sooner this year. I'm keeping this as a tracker for progress so... Yeah

114 days left (+ 4 days update)

It's awfully lazy of me to not do a daily update for 5 days straight but honestly I got sick from Thursday and not to mention it was damn hard to complete assignments when you have a fever and cold. It's like something is against me being productive everyday T-T

I thought maybe i could productively use the 4 days after the school event to study something but no, of course I had to get a fever :")

In the past 5 days I:

Assignments completed:

Computers

Business studies

Accountancy

Assignments Pending:

Economics

Studied 2 topics in economics today

and that's the only thing I could do in these days... But it's fine, I'll catch up eventually. Everything will be fine or so I keep telling myself that. T-T

Language learning is so damn attractive. Like, who wouldn't look good when they spend hours understanding a language's illogical grammar and twisted vocabulary and have mental break downs because of it?

hey there i’m taking ap bio and are exam is coming up do you have any tips for cramming and how to be motivated for subjects you don’t like. thanks :)

Hey Anon! :)

Thanks for the ask :)

I did a similar post for cramming ⇒ How To Cram For Exams. You can refer to that post.

So, I'll make this a bit specific. Bio can mostly be learnt through memorization. There's a lot of repetition and practice. Here are some tips:

Build concept maps. Connect all individual concepts to the main concept and do it in the most simple way (or detailed, whatever works for you)

Review it from time to time. If the exam is weeks away, review it every day for a week then review it thrice a week and the remaining days, write tests. If the exam is in like 5–6 days, then review it in the morning, write tests and then review at night after correcting your mistakes.

Keep repeating the main keywords and practice writing them down.

(I can only think of these ways to study bio because honestly I haven't studied bio since I was in 7th grade. So, I hope this helps <33)

I'll do, for motivation for the subjects you don't like.

How To Study For Subjects You Don't Like

Accept You Don't Like It

It's totally alright if you don't like a particular subject. Honestly, I hated my subjects in high school. I wanted to take history, geography and political science with computers, but my school didn't offer those. So, I was stuck with accounts, eco and business studies. I hated it at the beginning, but i knew that if i base my emotions on my studies for the next two years, i'd never pass high school.

So, accept that you don't like it and think of a positive outcome after that. Mine was the fact that I'll never study those subjects again, at least not for a grade.

Rewards

I'd always use this whenever i encounter hard topics. Keep a reward you get after completing that topic. Make it irresistible. Chocolates were mine xD. It makes it awfully easier.

Focus On What Is Important

You don't have to study everything, there's always some topics that are more important than the others. Like, seriously. Think about some topics that came up in every exam before or the topics that the teacher put extra emphasis on. Tackle them first.

Revise What You Know First

This gives a good kickstart. And confidence. Spend the first 5-10 mins of every study session revising something you already know and then start with the new topics.

Practice Papers

I can never emphasize this enough. The best way to prepare for any exam is just do practice questions or previous year questions. You will learn a lot of things. The topics that are important or repeated. The topics that are never asked.

Tip: Since you have your exams in some days, do just 3 practice papers.

Improvement Sheets

Do this at least once (after the practice papers) and note everything. How much time you take to answer each question. What are your mistakes. Which section is your weakest. Note them down and most importantly, your overall improvements you should make.

For me, I did this for accounts, and it gave me so much clarity, especially the improvements. I used to go through this improvement sheet before my actual exam and i did not repeat even a single mistake again.

129 days left

Okay, my English exam went alright, not too bad but i didn't do anything else today which is bad but I'll make up for it tomorrow. I got to study for Arabic, Economics, Business studies and Accountancy in these two days... I'm comfortable with computers because our teachers keeps tests frequently so yeah but the others? Definitely not.

So, tomorrow's to do list (study wise):

Complete Accounts lesson 4 and half of 5

Economics chapter 6 and 7 (Part 1-3)

Commerce chapter 9 and 10 (Part 1-3)

[I hope I have time to do this much but let's see]
