Hi! I was wondering if you had any tips for studying consistently, especially with burnout?
I have an awful habit of studying a lot on one day then avoiding it and not even looking at my notes for 3 or so days after then repeat. i'm starting fifth year soon so this cycle can't continue because it will not end well for mw or my grades
Heyy :) Thanks for the ask.
I just answered a similar ask like this so i think my answer is pretty much the same.
How To Avoid Burnout While Studying
But you technically asked how to study while in a burnout so i'll add a few additional tips. I hope this helps :)
How To Study / Work During A Burnout
Micro Goals
Write down your micro goals. By micro goals i mean the goals that are broken down from bigger goals. For example, my first task was to complete chapter 4 in accountancy fully. Instead of completing it fully and contributing to the burnout, break it down. Divide chapters into 4 parts and complete each part throughout the day. This is more manageable and doesn't make you feel overwhelmed.
Watch Concept Videos
Whenever i'm too tired to study or revise from my notes, videos always help. I did this mostly for accountancy, economics and business studies. YouTube has a variety of videos and make the most use of it. It really helps during exams because it gives me some leverage of knowing some extra points that are in the textbook, but most haven't studied it so use it to your advantage.
1% Progress Everyday > 100% Progress Once A Week
I really feel that even one percent progress every day is better than giving your best on the weekend. I usually divide my subjects throughout the week. I don't exceed more than 2 subjects per day because i did have extra assignments and projects to catch up to. This is one important rule i really followed.
Find The Stressor And Find A Way Through It
Find your major stressor. And try to go around it as much as possible. You have to navigate around everything. Most common stressors would be tests, exams, pressure or extra curriculars.
I had ignored every single test and just winged it because one our teachers never corrected it and two i was focusing on my finals. I didn't even care for my midterms, i experimented with them. I didn't study for term finals because i wanted to test how much i actually remembered. When the pressure got too much at the end of final year, i just didn't go to school after the attendance closed even though they were having revision classes.
I don't know if it's the same for you but there is always a way to minimize the impact. Find stressors and try to make it easier for yourself.

Heyy!
Thank you, I really appreciate that! :)

Hey lovely Anon! Thanks for the ask :D
π what is a project/assignment youβre really proud of?
Okay, so recently I had a computer project and we had to either make a video, animation or meme or whatever etc. And our team produced one video, one animation and 5 memes which was like alot of work in a span of 1-2 weeks. So, yeah, the teacher was really impressed and i was extremely happy with the results we got xD
Other one would also be a computer project, it was in junior year for the school exhibition. My friend and I did photoshop (like changing backgrounds, combining images etc) and yeah, that was cool xD
π a book/reading from your field youβd recommend/really enjoyed?
To be honest, I don't know what to say cause I'm still a senior in high school xD and i have no idea about what field I'll choose so... I don't know :")
Day 5/ Day 9
Not a very productive day but I did:
Glance through the important questions and case studies
Revised MCQs
Total hours of studying: 1 hour 30 mins
three months from now, you could be looking back at the hardest months of your journey and thinking, "it's so much easier to keep this up now, I'm glad I finally started back then". or you could be regretting that all you did was fantasize about changes instead of taking action. Rome wasn't built in a day, and your ideal self won't happen overnight. your future life depends on your choices today, right now, immediately.
I love this look of your blog! <3
Heyy! :D
I'm so glad you liked it! It's Acotar themed and I'm kinda obsessed with Velaris at the moment so it seems fair xD
Anyways, thanks for taking the time and letting me know, i really appreciate it! <3
It's okay to be bad at something new. Normalize people who want to keep trying without them feeling ashamed for being bad at it.
first and foremost, do as i say not as i do (as in don't post study tips on tumblr when you have seven tests to study for)
make it aesthetic, that's always super motivating. put a playlist in the background like the "you're a princess researching about your mother while trying to overthrow your father" or "solving a mystery in your elite boarding school" or "studying in a library with the ghosts" (look them up they're good god knows i'm too lazy to link them) also mcu soundtracks help me so much!!
pretty notes!!
DRINK WATER (go now fr or i'm going to find you)
something i like to do is keep a big cup of water next to me and force myself to sit and study until it's empty
open windows!!! wind helps me focus personally
pretend you're studying in hogwarts or in the dead poets society or something. imagination is very powerful
snacks!!!!!!
more snacks!!!!!!!!!!
get interested in what you're studying. like fr. stuff we learn in school is amazing af like what do you mean we found out the universe is expanding through red-shift??? ok i know this is very nerdy of me but it's cool af. BE NERDY.
take breaks <3 always
pretend you have a rival you need to destroy (if you have one that's even better, personally me and my rival sometimes study in the same room to motivate each other just by glaring at each other from across the room)(side note: this could also be his method of flirting i will never know)
stand up and walk around every once in a while. for all my figure skating besties -- try to do an off-ice axel in your kitchen. it tends to wake me up because i tend to fall when i try to do a double but whatever that's a me problem.
find somewhere comfortable and wear something comfortable
make a to-do list
SEPARATE SECTION ABOUT TO-DO LISTS BECAUSE I HAVE A WHOLE SYSTEM FOR THIS
first of all you're going to brain dump everything you have to do. every little thing. including walking your dog. everything that has to be done in the next 24 hours.
let's take a sample to do list:
- math quiz
-math homework
-physics presentation
-chemistry test
-french oral
next, you're going to give each of them a score. how do we put scores? well
give it an easiness score from 1 -> 10 (10 being you can do it upside down with your eyes closed)
give it a stress score from -1 -> -10 (-10 being it causes crippling anxiety)
give it a priority score from 1 -> 10 (10 being your teacher will hunt you down if it isn't done in the next hour)
finally, give it in a convenience score from -1 -> -4 (-4 being i don't know where my notebook is my pen is in antartica i have no material to do this atm)
for me it would be something like
- math quiz (5E, -1S, 10P, -2C) 12
-math homework (7E, 0S, 8P, -1C) 14
-physics presentation (6E, -2S, 5P, -2C) 7
-chemistry test (2E, -2S, 10P, 0C) 10
-french oral (10E, -3S, 8P, -1C) 14
then sort everything. do the highest scores first and the lowest scores last (so you get the easy stuff done and get motivated to continue) and there! your to-do list is done in the least painful way possible <3
I have no idea what I'm doing with my life. Honestly I just wanna sit back and cry. I have around 11 lessons for tomorrow's exam and let me tell you, it's not pleasant. T-T
Did 7+ hours of Business Studies
Completed Arabic Assignment
My brain is honestly fried. I have no idea what the hell I'm doing, i hope the exam is easy tomorrow :")
Funny thing how i actually didn't message up today's tryouts ... I'm thankful and shocked honestly... Anyway, nothing that interesting today, I've been making small progress everyday to atleast touch my textbooks... Midterms start from 18th .... No idea how I'm gonna complete everything in such a short period of time...
Today I:
Learnt some accounts topics
Prepared for debate
Finished 1 lesson in english
Completed Arabic assignment
Here's a reminder to fight the internalized sanism/ableism in your head.
If you have executive dysfunction, don't compare your productivity to people who don't.
If you have anhedonia, don't compare your struggling to keep up with hobbies to someone who doesn't.
If you have paranoia, don't think of your fears as any less valid than the fears of someone who doesn't.
If your meds make you tired constantly, don't compare your energy levels to someone who doesn't take those meds.
If you have issues with concentration, then you won't be able to pay attention as well as someone who doesn't.
If you're in the deep end of a pool, then you can't compare how well you keep your head above water to someone who is standing in a kiddie pool.
Please try to think of these things when you feel "lazy" or "childish" or "a failure" compared to other people that don't struggle with the same symptoms as you. If you have a mental illness that will affect how you act in everyday situations, then it will in fact affect you in everyday situations. It's not an excuse, it's just a reality. We need to try to be kinder to ourselves.
