Any Tips For Studying While Sick? Xx

any tips for studying while sick? xx

Hey there Anon! :D I hope this helps you.

How To Study When You're Sick

In no way am I promoting for you to study when you're sick or anything but there are a few times where you are stuck with studying due to tests and exams. It can be stressful during this period so, here are a few tips to study when you're sick which I've personally used as someone who has a lot of cramps and sinus issues which tends to creep in on me especially during exams.

Don't force yourself

Honestly, I don't really think you should study while you're sick because your body is already weak. Take rest. It's really fine if you miss a few days. Your health matters more. A healthy body leads to an active mind (In terms of learning)

Periodic Snacking

I am normally really against snacking in between study sessions but when I'm sick? I need my snacks. This is really simple, why? Your body is tired and losing energy quicker than before, plus your mind is also hazy. That's why, eat something everyone one hour or at least 40 minutes.

Water Is A Must

I literally keep a bottle of warm water mixed with honey with me all the time, even during school. It helps with cramps and actually gives you some energy. So, hydration is key.

Prioritize

By this, i mean, take a look at the table of contents and glance through the topics. And then mark the topics that the teacher specifically put emphasis on. That one topic that can help you gain extra points. Each lesson will definitely have at least one such topics. You don't have to study everything. You just need to study what you need to.

Energy Control

So, based on your energy. Choose what you have to do. If you're on low energy, then you might want to revise some old topics, or even watch some videos on certain topics. That's what i normally do. Watch videos on all your topics when you're sick. If you a bit more energy, you can use it appropriately and use it for learning just one or max two topics.

Breaks/Power Naps

Normally I'm against taking a lot of breaks in between study sessions because it disrupts focus but when you're sick. This. Is. Important. Take some breaks. Go easy on yourself.

Progress > Perfection

It's not about perfection. Never about perfection. You've done one topic? Well, done. Learn it. Rest. And don't feel guilty about just learning one topic. Those small topics that you cover now will pile up later and before you know it, you've completed most of your syllabus.

PYQ's To The Rescue

This was the main reason I actually passed. The thing is, when you're sick, you just feel like you don't know anything even if you've been studying for hours. This is where this comes into place. Previous Year Question Papers are the key to succeed. How To Actually Use PYQ's

Active Studying

Study using active methods.

Active Studying ==> Active recall and filling gaps, visual representation, learning through stories and mnemonics.

Passive studying ==> learning through notes, repeating things over and over again, trying to memorize instead of learning and understanding the concepts.

One hour of active studying is better than 5 hours of passive studying.

Break It Down

This is what i call "Line Visuals". You divide the topic line by line if you have to.

You read a paragraph => You don't understand anything.

Read every line => Draw it

Understand the key terms used there

And then draw a single visual representation for that entire topic.

I'll guarantee you, you will understand it. Review it once a day for a week and then once a week. If you don't have a week, then review it once in an hour.

I hope this helps! :D

(Feel free to send in more asks/questions. Honestly, i'm out of ideas here)

Study Tip - 3

Something I've seen quite a lot nowadays is people studying with timers, like, I still don't understand it... I've asked many people and they're like "It helps us to finish the goal while managing time and we complete our revision sooner"

But the main thing is, they don't remember it for more than a few hours or days... for me the goal is to complete the task perfectly and not to complete it faster than anyone.

Because when you keep looking at the clock, you're worried more about the time than the work. You're more excited about getting a break after that specific time than the actual studying. That is why, when i study, I face towards an empty wall and I can easily work without worrying about the time.

Don't set a time limit for any work, you'll realise how much work you'll actually get done when you're not looking at the clock.

Of course, this doesn't have to work for you but I think that this could help you expand your average study time.

No harm trying it :)

Affirmations I use before entering my exam room/hall.

This does not define your future but don't mess this up. I'm fine. I have prepared the whole year for this. I will not put it to a waste. I know more than I think I do. I am calm, focused and composed and I am certainly not panicking. I did my best. God will do the rest. Your past self is proud of you. Your future self is counting on you. An exam is nothing but a test of your knowledge. You got dreams to chase, darling. Do not be scared of something which has no power to hurt you physically. You are so close to the victory. Don't you dare give up now. I am so damn proud of trying so hard. Don't stress. Do your best. Forget the rest. There's no way that I'm going back with something that I don't like. You can do this.

Hope this helps xD

Study Tip - 1

Well, the first study tip I'll be posting is definitely this, i don't think I've seen this before but it's something I've definitely scored better with.

Know your question paper format and marking schemes

First with question paper format, by that I mean, how your question paper is going to be... Like, how many MCQs? Number of explanatory questions? Total marks for each question and sections etc etc.

Marking scheme basically refer to how you'll gain marks in your answer sheets. Suppose you have a question for let's say, 3 marks. Then you should find out how much you need to write for those 3 marks, if it's three points or half a page etc etc.

Some things that definitely carry extra marks:

Definitions

Diagrams

Graphs/tables (if there are any)

Codings

Additional info like Criticism, Applications, Exceptions etc

Formulae

Examples !!!

I cannot highlight this enough because it shows you how you have to portray and answer each question. The more you write your contents, the higher chance there is to get extra marks

Where can you get your marking schemes and paper formats? The most accurate and precise way would either be your subject teachers or previous question papers or asking your seniors.

three months from now, you could be looking back at the hardest months of your journey and thinking, "it's so much easier to keep this up now, I'm glad I finally started back then". or you could be regretting that all you did was fantasize about changes instead of taking action. Rome wasn't built in a day, and your ideal self won't happen overnight. your future life depends on your choices today, right now, immediately.

When people say they feel tired all the time, my only question is "What time do you sleep?" Like, If you sleep at 2 in the morning, of course you'll feel tired.

Don't set alarms in the morning. Set alarms to go to sleep. The max time you can stay awake is 12.

You sleep at the right time and you will automatically change for the better.

Don't push your body to do work beyond it's limit.

This is hard.

123 days left

Today's exam was honestly pretty alright, i couldn't believe that i could attend everything especially because the teacher told us that she'd give no options for MCQ questions and we have to study like fully throughout the book T-T

Now, I'm more scared about tomorrow... even though I've been practicing for more than 2 weeks for accountancy, today, as soon as I came. I slept and I just woke up around 9:30 and panicked because I haven't revised anything. Right now I've completed 1 and a half lessons and I got to complete 2 major topics tomorrow morning.

123 Days Left

So yeah... and my hopes and dreams on resting on Sunday alittle and studying just went down the drain. I got to complete a computer project which is like 10% of my final exam grades and submit it by Monday T-T

Today I:

Studied accounts

Tomorrow's To-do list:

Revise accounts in the morning

Complete 5/10 pratical projects in computers

Clean my desk (cause it's just too much of a message right now)

Asks are still open. I'm literally free all day xD

I'm kinda running out of ideas, my brain's been fried these days. So, if you have any topic that you're interested in regarding high school or generally studying or anything, don't be shy to send an ask. I seriously need some ideas
