when I was younger I watched SVU to imagine a world where the cops didn't call my mom hysterical for reporting a violent rapist (with a criminal record including rape) violating a no-trespassing order, my own father. those men in uniform believed everything he said and I will never forget that day or the fact that most women don't even try to report rape because of how the cops react, or how the rapist will react.

does anyone else feel completely fucking insane thinking about the sheer volume of claims that have been proven baseless but are still repeated as fact by people in power. like i know "gaslighting" isnt a useful word when it comes to public officials but i dont know how else to describe the feeling of constantly being told that reality isnt what it is

There's a post going around Tumblr about how if you're post-menopausal and have bleeding, you should get it checked by your doctor. I brought some minor bleeding I'd had up in a doctor visit earlier this year, prompted by that post, and this week, after a biopsy, I found out I have cancer. It's early stage and the survival odds at 5 years are 99%. I have an oncologist appointment and we may have caught it early enough that surgery alone will be sufficient treatment (no radiation/chemo).

So that post may have saved my life and it may have made my treatment a lot easier too.

If you get into menopause and then start bleeding again, really, get your reproductive innards checked out. The life you save may be your own.
