it started on a hunting trip, gwaine was teasing mordred and took his stuff and hid it. merlin told him very sternly to give it back and mordred said "thanks dad"

from then on they all started calling merlin dad

with leon it came slower and from lancelot. lance was struggling with his relationship with gwen and he confided in leon

leon helped him work through it and when lance left he clapped leon on the shoulder and said "thanks pops"

of course the others all found out about it and started calling him pops

neither of them fits into "mom" or "dad" categories but they each have a role

the kids go to leon when they need solid advice, when they feel like they cant handle something alone and they need a real answer to a problem

they go to merlin when theyre hurt (physically or mentally) and he helps heal them. they also go to him when they need someone to vent to and not get a real answer from, merlin is more than happy to bitch with someone and he'll hold your grudges for you

when on hunting trips, leon makes sure they have food and merlin prepares it and makes sure everyone gets their share

theyre equally protective of the kids and they'll work together to move heaven and earth for them

when they dont want to deal with the knights they try and pawn them off on each other. they ask merlin for advice and he says "oof that sounds like one for pops"

gwaine gets mad at arthur and goes to leon, who tries to give him advice, gwaine gets even more upset and leon calls for merlin because he cant handle the big shows of emotion

the kids all fight to be the favorite. arthur tells the others he has to be the favorite because he's king, leon grounds him for holding his station above the others heads

merlin's favorite changes based on how much trouble they've cause him

leon's changes based on how well they did in training

raising the knights eventually gets merleon together.

Merlin : Here's some advice

Leon: I didn't ask for any?

Merlin : Too bad. I'm stuck here with my thoughts and you're the only one who’s still alive.

Ok so i love Merlin magic reveals but theres just something special about Merlin Dragonlord reveals

The ones where Arthur finds out and suddenly realises "HolyshititoldMerlinthathisownfatherwasntworthatearwhyishestillatmysideimahorribleperson-"

And i've seen several versions of this reveal and what the responses would be

But i haven't seen one i had in my mind

Just imagine this: Merlin grows his hair out ("no, gwaine, im not copying your hairstyle stfu-") and grows a beard

And Arthur thinks it's hot that he looks oddly familiar but can't place it

He tells tells Merlin this and Merlin sits there in cold sweat thinking Arthur is connecting him to Dragoon or something

It takes Arthur a week (A whole week!) to figure out who bearded Merlin reminds him of

They’re sitting around the fire on their way to a quest or whatever

And Arthur looks at Merlin who's attempting to carve what looks like a misformed dog from a piece of wood when Arthur suddenly gets flashbacks to that time The Great Dragon escaped and they went in search for the last Dragonlord.

Balinor. Merlin looks like Balinor.

And now that he sees it he can't unsee it. It's uncanny how much they look alike. Almost like father and son...

And that is how Arthur realises that he never defeated The Great Dragon and that Merlin is in fact the last dragonlord and "shitshitshitmyfatherruinedhisfatherslifeanditoldhimnottocryaboutit-"

Ignoring the fact that Uther believed that Dragonlords were too close to magic Arthur confronts Merlin about it, and promises him it's alright, it will all be alright. And Merlin can barely get out a word before Arthur hugs him, both of them pretending that Merlin totally isnt crying.

Arthur takes any books on dragons and dragonlords he can find and gives them to Merlin.

(Bonus points if Merlin lets Arthur come along the next time he summons Kilgarrah for help and Arthur promptly kisses Merlin after hearing him use that voice because 'holyshithessohotwhattheactualfuck')

The way Vivienne writes sex and inserts porn into her shows, even dedicating several characters to it (Angel Dust, Chaz, Blitz, and Verosika) makes her look like she's inserting it just for the shock value instead of having a mature discussion around sex. It's all very "Look at how perverted and horned up us women are! Aren't you shocked?"

I just realized that those big scary moments we see in both hh and hb characters final demon forms are not scary like at all (at least to me)

Like the 7 deadly sins revealed their demons forms, I was just like, "Cool."

The designs are just well underwhelming. I don't know if I am supposed to be like, "Cool!" Or "Holy shit!"

I think for me it is the art style that plays a part in this because viv style is more cute focus.

Her characters over the years don't really have a scary feel to them.

So maybe she doesn't have much experience making more horror related stuff to her designs.

So, rather, having more scary/intimating final demon designs, their designs just end up just looking cute.

Now the only one that I think got a true scary form is stolas.

Even then, I just feel like sometimes the designs are never gonna have a true moment of, "Oh my god, everyone is screwed!" When the said starts to show their true demon form

I understand you, the designs are underwhelming.

Especially when you realize the designs belong to the 7 deadly sins!

I feel like sometimes the designs are a hit and miss. Hopefully, the final designs get better, but who knows!

Merlin and the knights playing never have I ever

At first, it's innocent stuff and Gwaine complains that it's all dull trivia and they need to start getting into the more interesting questions. Leon looks him dead in the eyes and says "Fine. Never have I ever been arrested" Literally everyone but Leon drinks.

From that point it becomes a challenge to see who's done the most outrageously criminal shit "Never have I ever been in a bar fight" "Never have I ever committed identity fraud" "Never have I ever broken someone out of the dungeons" "Never have I ever stolen from the royal vaults" "Never have I ever committed treason with the King still in the room" And Merlin. Just. Keeps. Drinking. Now it's about trying to find something Merlin hasn't done but one of the others has. The answer turns out to be "Never have I ever been banished from a kingdom"

Merlin passes out before he runs out of criminal things he's done. Magic is the only reason he's still alive the next morning after how high his blood alcohol level was.

After Merlin passes out the knight just look at each other wondering how Merlin hasn't been executed yet with all the shit he's done. Gwaine chuckles and shakes his head "Perks of being the king's mistress"

I just got the chance to see the valentine merch and I have to say I'm not really impressed.

If I have time this week, I might make some posts discussing what I did and didn't like about the merch.

they might have been attracted to each other in camelot, but i think they both would have been too busy to realize it, especially merlin

the first few years without the others are hard. theyre in mourning and so they never consider their feelings

once they start to move on, they part ways for a while, trying to figure out who they are individually in this new life

they find each other again, of course, then drift off, then back together, many times over the years.

theyre never surprised when they find their way back to each other, it just makes sense to be back with the other

one day, after about 150 years, merlin mentions that his magic always seems calmer when he's with leon. he can control it better, like in the golden days of camelot when he was surrounded by everyone he loved.

it takes another 30+ years (they both stopped counting after a while) for leon to realize why it always felt so right being together

he'd loved the man for hundreds of years, its why he always instictively looks for him, even if he knows he's nowhere around

its why when they finally find each other again, he feels like he can breathe properly.

at first he isnt sure if merlin feels the same, but then he remembers merlin's magic comes as easy to him as breathing. they feel the exact same way

so he plucks up the courage to say something the next time he sees the man.

which somehow happens to be the very next day, almost as if merlin felt the same pull in his chest that leon was feeling

leon doesnt hesitate to tell merlin how he feels, and how long he thinks he's felt it

merlin, of course, beams at him and tells him he had just had the same epiphany the day before

they never part after that.
