Iโve gotten this question before, from other witches and myself: what do you do when your main power source sets for the night?
ย Nighttime is for shadows, things that are fundamentally different from who I am. The moon is my friend but also not my patron, so whatโs there for me to draw strength from?ย
Well, like most things, itโs complicated. Every witch is an individual, and every sun witch will cope with the disappearance of the sun in a different way. Some will charge sigils or crystals during the day and use that as a back up until the sun rises.ย
Personally, I transfer my energy from the sun to the stars.ย All energies have at least some form of duality in their nature, sometimes many more facets than just duality.ย
The sun is no different, and for me, the star girl comes to life at night.ย
ย The stars are her cold light from eons away.ย I can feel weaker, true, but I accept that darkness is a welcome part of our being, and necessary for us to rest.ย I feel like some separation from the sun mother is good for me to recharge.ย
ย The stars are a much more gentle energy, cool and refreshing. I shine with a colder, white light, and I am much less grounded mentally. This is the time to think about the vastness of the universe beyond us, perhaps about how small we are, also shining like stars in the dark with our different energies.ย
The only time I am uncomfortable at night is when clouds cover the moon and stars. When I look up a see nothing but a black void bearing down on me. I become uncomfortable with no lights in the darkness.ย
Iโd love to hear from other sun witches about what they do at night! Do you transfer your power to the moon? Do you just wait it out? Or donโt even think about it at all? Iโm curious!ย

a spell to keep someone drained mentally and busy with things stressing them out rather than dealing with you. spell was originally intended for helping out a friend with someone negative in their life
โ gather: glass/metal bottle, taglock, black origami paper or striped origami paper, bits of a mouse's skull (ethically sourced. my mouse skull was from an owl pellet i dissected) โ note: if you don't have striped paper, use black paper. if you don't have black paper, use striped paper
โ take a metal or glass bottle and fill it with water
โ use black and striped paper and fold it into a butterfly. butterflies themselves represent creativity, transformation, hope, faith and rebirth. in origami, butterflies can also represent moving on from something while striped paper can represent discouragement or imprisonment and black paper can either symbolize protection or oppression depending on the intent
โ take apart the butterfly and place mouse skull pieces in the middle of the paper and refold it a butterfly. skulls in death witchcraft represent the mind, thoughts and can even connect you to animal it originally came from
โ place butterfly in the bottle and seal with the intent to keep the intended target drained mentally and for that to persistently follow them. shake bottle if necessary if spell feels to be wearing off or energy feels dull
Too many people who are interested in Dionysus worry that he'll reject them if they aren't some flavour of alcoholic, so I say this gently:
PLEASE RESEARCH HIM
Dionysus is so much more than a drunkard wine god who requires your inebriation (he isn't and he doesn't). He's a god of the oppressed, of insanity, of liberation, of death and rebirth, of fertility, and yes, of wine
Dionysus is violence, love, the calm before the storm and the rage within one, the breath before you scream and your roar of victory, communion, ecstasy, dance, utter stillness, anger, joy...
And he will love you no matter what

You want to learn magic and witchcraft, awesome! Go you! You wanna know what's important though? Learning the mundane at the same time as the magical.
I'm a firm believer in learning as much as you can about the things you're working with. To know a paintbrush, you have to paint. To learn an instrument, you have to play it. Anything you work with is a tool that, in an ideal scenario, will become an extension of yourself. You want to be in tune with your tools, you want to understand them as much as possible. It's learning how the tools respond to your interference. When you know these things inside and out, that, to me, is when you become an expert. Don't just learn the meanings of things, learn the reasons behind the meanings. Look up the etymology of that magic word you saw before you do the spell. Learn the historical uses of that herb and connect that to whatever its correspondence is. Learn why things are the way they are.
You want to learn ocean magic? Learn about the tides while you're at it. Learn how the ocean behaves, understand the sheer power behind the waves, the creatures of the ocean and all of the treasures you can find on the seashore.
Thinking about getting into green craft? Don't just learn about the magical uses of plants, learn about botany, and how to identify plants, understand how plants grow and thrive, and how different plants exist in nature.
Considering animal magic? Learn the Latin name of the species, maybe check out their anatomy while you're at it. Where does this animal find its niche? What does it eat, where does it sleep?
Getting into forest witchcraft? Learn about your local forests and trees. What kinds of forests there are, what preserving a forest can look like. Can you identify any trees of your own? How do different trees propagate?
How about weather magic? Learn meteorology, how to identify storm clouds, what atmospheric pressure does. Start to observe changes in the weather daily, how weather affects the wildlife around you.
Cosmic witchcraft more your vibe? Learn a little about space, study a map of the stars, learn the constellations in your night sky. Branch off into learning astronomy and cosmology, learn about planetary systems other than our own. If you want to keep it basic, learn the time it takes each planet to complete a rotation and revolution.
Crystals seem to be up your alley? Don't stop at the metaphysical properties, learn their scientific properties as well. Where can these crystals be mined? How rare are they? Can you tell the difference between imitations and the real deal? What's their number on the Mohs hardness scale?
Whatever you want to learn, branch out further than the magical. The mundane is just as, if not more important.

Note about this post! These arenโt all the spring flowers, just the ones I have more knowledge about and personal experience with. This list is mostly based on my own interpretation and how Iโve come to associate certain flowers with specific deities throughout my journey as a pagan witch. Iโm aware there are many other deities connected to flowers, but these are the ones that came to mind while I was taking notes. I also want to mention that color is probably one of the most important aspects when it comes to associating flowers with deities. For example, Lady Athena is connected with all white flowers, Lady Aphrodite with pink ones, and Dionysus with any purple flower. Elements also play a role, flowers carry elemental energy that can deepen their symbolism or connection to a deity. There are goddesses from different religions who are patrons of flowers and vegetation, like Flora, Chloris, and others, and theyโre basically associated with all flowers, so I didnโt include them here since it felt kind of obvious. Whether a flower is traditionally associated with a deity or not, I just want to say, flowers make beautiful offerings, and your deities will absolutely appreciate any plant you choose to give them :D
