I hope you know that with every nice comment I get from you guys on a WebToon upload I gain +9999 happiness.

I don’t like this one AS much as the drawing of Xoinu but i think they match up super well consistency wise 😎✨
Cows!!! 🐮✨💖
My comic needs fantasy cow creatures so I made one! :3
Now I just have to think of a name 🤔
I typically don’t post stuff like this on my art blog but this is something I feel somewhat passionate about considering I am a fiction/fantasy writer. Sometimes (not all times) people ask these questions in bad faith. If it’s a stranger, I’m more likely to be inclined to believe it is in bad faith than if a mutual or friend asked me about my world building.
World building is absolutely important, but some people love to ask these questions in an effort to shut down your idea entirely; They want to make you feel stupid for even having the idea in the first place.
My rule of thumb is:
If someone asks a question about your worldbuilding, it may be important to ponder the question to flesh things out more, but at the same time you don’t owe people immediate explanations and you have time to think about things! It’s okay if you can’t figure out what a megafauna in your story eats until you’re deeper into development. It’s okay to not know yet!
And I’m gonna be honest here:
It’s ABSOLUTELY okay for some things to “just be” because they’re cool. I have this weird elk creature in my comic that comes up in a flashback event, and someone asked me in bad faith
“How does it even run around in the forest as a predator, its antlers would hit the trees”
And you know what? That may be true if it were real! But it’s not real. I like my design of the creature and that’s good enough for me. Not everything has to be analyzed and dissected under a microscope.
You do not owe your audience perfection. Grow your worldbuilding at your own pace, it’ll come in time.
When you are a queer author, or an author of any minority group, people love to pull “Gotcha” scenarios all the time to shoot you down. It’s important to keep this reality in mind when speaking on this because there are a lot of bullies out there looking for blood when writing is supposed to be liberating and fun at the end of the day.
The thing about fantasy worldbuilding is that verisimilitude and the rule of cool are not enemies. Someone who looks at a pod of flying whales and asks "what do they eat?" is not being a spoilsport – they're engaging with the premise. There are any number of much more serious objections to aerial megafauna than lack of any obvious role in a trophic web that could have been raised if they just wanted to shoot the idea down; a person who wants to know what the flying whales eat is all but explicitly yes-anding the idea. Sure, you might not have an answer at your fingertips, but acting like it's unimaginative for them to have asked is a really fucking weird way to react.
Reblogging this because I fixed the hair LMAO (Thought I was so clever with having his hairline show but no it made him look like he was wearing a whole-ass hat)
I’m really proud of this one! And yes it is more of Phil lol
I put pheasants on his kimono because that is what he IS 😤💖🐦
The lack of a working Apple Pencil will not stop me from drawing Phil 😤
He always says how he used to be in a band when he was younger so I drew him as a rock star ⭐️🎸
"Art regression" this. "Art regression" that. Progress is not linear and your style will continue to ebb and flow, expand and contract. Not every piece of art will be a masterpiece and that is alright.
What IS important is that you don't listen to negative people and you keep drawing. It utterly breaks my heart to see young artists give up on their passions because of stupid bullies on social media making fun of their style.
Never stop creating. You're doing great! ✨💖
