I really hope Nora writes the story she wants to tell. I really hope she doesn't feel she has to compromise her view to appease the fandom or a subset of it. This applies both for The Broken Cage and the Kevin books. I may not ship Kevin and Thea, but I'm excited to know her, to see how their relationship started and how they complement each other. Even if it's not my cup of tea, I'm willing to give a straight ship a chance lol. And idk, maybe we'll have a confirmation that Kevin is bi (we all know there's no hetero explanation for Kevin), and I wouldn’t mind if he ends up with Thea, as longs as it is interesting. Knowing Nora, it will be very, very interesting.

And hey, if we're sad that Kandreil or Kerejean or any other Kevin ship isn't canon, we can still fanfic our hearts away.

But I just really, really want Nora to do what she wants, and for us as fans of her and her work to respect that. I want her to have fun while writing, as her clear passion and enjoyment that gives these books that spice that we love so much. Whatever she has in store, I just can wait for it.

YES! This is something I think about way too much, and I have so many questions. Does he just want something besides exy that he can obsess over? Does he use the past as an escape from his current reality? Is he just a nerd??? Who knows lol

Since I finished tsc a few days ago it has been living in my head rent free. And there are definitely a lot of major plot and character points that are included in that, but also: Kevin Day and his history major.

Like we don’t really get to know much about it because neither Neil or Jean thought anything about it other than “this weirdo really likes history for some reason”, but I have so many questions about this.

He really, truly begged Riko, the primary source of misery in his life, to take this major with him, even though he had to know that it was never going to be something he used outside of the court since Ravens were, by design, never meant to have a future outside of Exy. How much did he have to love this thing that was just his in order for him to agree to do two people’s worth of work and to push for what he wanted enough for it to stick out so clearly in Jean’s memory? When and why did he learn to care so much about it?

Lowkey, I think it's kind of sad how Kevin lost his best friend, aka Jean, in the midst of everything. Like romantic or platonic, both of them truly loved each other and understood each other despite everything. Kevin and Jean protected each other; Jean taught him French, and Jean listened to Kevin rant about history. I wonder what Kevin feels when the eyes that once used to light up when kevin entered the room is now filled with nothing but contempt. And I wonder what Jean feels when the eyes that once were filled with kindness are riddled with guilt
