Matthew appreciates the gestures a lot, cause it means that Lars really does love him despite Lars barely showing emotion and saying anything. AND for specific dogs I have these:

Alfred's dog: A golden retriever cause its's friendly, energetic, sociable and huggable just like Alfred is and it's name is Daisy after his favorite flower.

Ivan's dog: A husky named Laika. It's still a puppy. (Yes it's the very same Laika that got launched into space, I like to think she reincarnated because Joan did it so why not)

Yao: A chow chow because it's lazy, fluffy, cute and affectionate and that's how Yao likes dogs. It's name is Kuai because the dog is also intelligent.

ya’ll I imagine that the black triangle all have dogs and they have dog playdates and have picnics in parks with their dogs running and playing around them and sometimes Yao dresses their dogs up and Ivan and Alfred find it adorable and they spend the next four hours taking pictures of their doggies

My interpretation of FrUk and also the reason why I love it

They grew up as rivals, and I head canon Francis as his only friend when they were kids but he he couldn't help but bicker with him, sometimes worrying that he was too harsh and pushed Francis away but he was wrong because Francis was always there every time. There's a sense of familiarity between them, causing them to gravitate towards each other no matter what relationship status they have (enemies, rivals, friends, etc.). It's like fate doesn't want these two to be apart, they are inseparable whether they like it or not. The other's presence is a constant in their life since they grew up together, their histories are so intertwined they might as well just merge their countries together. They're constantly paired and/or grouped together, they always spend the holidays together, they sit together and they are always with each other. There are times where they constantly hope to avoid the other but it always fails because they are always there, always.

I personally head canon Francis to have been the only person who bothered to at least try to communicate and be nice to him. He teased him but didn't outright bully him (shown as when he cut Arthur's hair for him, when he bought a tunic for him, etc.) thus being the only friend Arthur had, and still has to this day. Arthur is friendless other than Vlad (Romania) and Lukas.
