Is anyone else just really obsessed with the fact that we’re animals but we disassociate ourselves with them?

Like isn’t that so fascinating? The phrase “I’m not some animal!” Is actually a thing but ??? Yes we are! And it’s so fascinating!! Here’s some things to think on:

•We literally have packs. Whether it be family, close friends, friend groups at school, etc. we all need human interaction, and even some of the most introverted people are included in this. People have been known to die from loneliness!

•We all need strong figures to look at and mold ourselves after. lacking a motherly, fatherly, etc. figure can largely impact who a person grows up to be. Without someone to look up to, a child wouldn’t learn useful lessons from them, what’s right and what’s wrong, etc. We rely very heavily on others!!

•We are EXTREMELY territorial. Have you ever thought about this? Signs are placed around fences designed to keep other humans out saying “trespassing will be insert bad thing here” because humans they don’t know aren’t welcome in their land! Even though it’s really not our land, we pay money to “own” it in the eyes of other humans!

•Attraction. With a few exceptions, (hello asexuals! :D) humans experience the desire to mate with others, but not just anyone! While not everything is about looks, they are a contributing factor! For example, ‘skinny’ people are considered attractive because statistically the less fat an individual has, the higher the libido. Biologically, people like this because A) more sex, and B) more offspring, even if you don’t want children! Your body is still designed to want lots of offspring to keep the human race going. Another example is what society claims to be “beautiful.” Shiny, thick, healthy hair is considered pretty because the offspring an individual with this hair would produce will also have lovely, healthy hair! This goes the same for long legs (for running well) and more!

This list could go on absolutely forever! Feel free to reblog and add some more things :)

Got any headcanons for mamahawk post promised day?

Riza knows Al has a growing list of foods she has made that he wants to eat, so she brings dishes to the hospital for him to eat once he is able to eat solid foods.

After they arrive home, she calls every couple of weeks to check up on them and to make sure they’re both doing well as they continue to heal.

She is the first person Ed calls to tell about his engagement to Winry. It’s only fit seeing how he realized he was in love with her after Riza mentioned it.

She is a big part of Edward and Winry’s wedding, helping them organize it and helping set up when the big day comes. She doesn’t stand in it, but she has a front row seat. She does steal a dance with Ed, though, and it’s very similar to a mother and groom dance.

She visits the Elric-Rockbell household at least 2 times per year, more if there is a special event (such as birthdays) going on.

Riza is there when Winry gives birth to their first child and she stays with them for two weeks after her discharge from the hospital to help them out with the baby. They can’t help but notice during that time how well she does with children of all ages.

The Edwin kids are constantly in a toss-up, alternating between referring to her as their aunt and thinking of her as a grandmother-like figure because of the way she treats Ed and Uncle Al.

Alphonse visits her for tea every time he is in Central. He isn’t able to always call ahead so she always has his favorite teas on-hand.

The Elrics send her flowers every Mother’s Day, and once their kids are older they do the same. Over time, she ends up with a garden in her apartment once per year.

Alphonse: Someone tell my cat hair isn't food

Roy: Hair is food

Maes: Anything is food if you don't care about survival

Can we please stop the White Feminist™ idea that naked = empowered?

Because I had to watch the Muslim girl in my history class lucture the class on Islam’s treatment of women and why she wears her hijab to feel closer to god, because some new girl in our class tried to coerce her into taking it off, and then proceeded to try to take it off her.

I made sure she was alright after class and she told me she’s used to it. I. Got. Pissed. Because this sweet girl is used to other people trying to rip her hijab off. I’m not Muslim, but from what I understand, that’s like being used to people trying to rip your shirt off of you.

Also, this idea doesn’t just threaten and offend Muslim women and girls. Because a lot of women and afab people don’t like being naked. It’s not empowering to them, it’s demeaning. For example, I don’t like being naked, because I just don’t feel comfortable with it. But still, my family still forces me to wear bikinis to the beach and thinks I’m self conscious just because I don’t want to wear the least amount of clothes possible.

So, in summary:

Destroy the White Feminist™ idea that Naked = Empowered

Destroy the White Feminist™ idea that Naked = Empowered

Destroy the White Feminist™ idea that Naked = Empowered

Destroy the White Feminist™ idea that Naked = Empowered

Destroy the White Feminist™ idea that Naked = Empowered

Everything is terrifying, but humans are so strong.

Societies at my university are doing food bank drives. Italians are singing on their balconies and cheering health workers that go by. My university originally wasn’t going to close so lecturers took matters into their own hands and cancelled their classes, and now the university IS closing. When the government response isn’t strong enough, people are cancelling mass gatherings themselves and isolating to limit the spread. One of my friends is streaming to her self-isolating friends. My mum is going back to work tomorrow in an NHS reception. The Australian Grand Prix got cancelled and now 10,000+ people are watching an esports game version of the race on Twitch and making memes about it. All over the world, people are trying to cheer each other up.

My biggest problem with apocalypse movies, with zombie tv shows, has always been the way it portrays a world post-disaster. When humans were living in caves and hunting for survival, they drew art on the walls and told stories that were passed down in oral tradition. When London closed for the plagues, theater troupes would go around the country performing for the smaller villages instead. The human drive to create, to entertain, to adventure, to see and do new things, has always been and will always be unmoved by a crisis.

So yes people are panic buying, yes employers and governments are being selfish and cruel. But more than ever this has highlighted that, that is not what humans are. It’s something we’re pushed to be by this society, actual cruelty is an outlier.

I’ve been clinically depressed for a long time, so it feels bizarre to say: I love humans. I am overflowing with how much I really, truly, love us. Humans are silly, tender, hopeful, and social creatures. Even something as small as a long train journey, delayed and late at night, is enough for humans to take up solidarity. No matter what happens, what state the world is in, what alterations we have to make to our lives, we will never escape being recognizably, inherently human. Thank god.

Things Batman Taught

I finally read the The Target. For anyone not familiar with this title, it heralds back to the Officer Grayson days. Dick is setup to take the fall for some dirty cops of the Blüdhaven PD and adopts the identity The Target to clear his name name for Reasons.

I came across this gem:

Things Batman Taught
Things Batman Taught

That’s right. They practiced throwing guns. As confirmed by Nightwing (1996) #33:

Things Batman Taught

It called to mind another gun-throwing identity of Dick Grayson’s.

Flash forward to the New 52.

Things Batman Taught

That’s right, Agent 37. Was is pure coincidence Agent 8 mentioned guns and targets? Or was it an Easter Egg?

Who could forget his iconic theme song?

Things Batman Taught
Things Batman Taught

His fellow agents may have given him grief over his choice of gun handling, but apparently Dick had lots of practice hurling those bad boys.

Things Batman Taught
Things Batman Taught

Finding these references is like undercovering buried treasure to me. I get way to much pleasure from it. Has anyone else found any good links from the old to the new like this?

the man on the flying trapeze

So, when I read the Robin War, one of the kids mentioned that the first robin had sung him a song, years ago. The man on the flying trapeze

The Man On The Flying Trapeze

the scene is pretty sad, but i thought it was really cute that Dick would sing to a kid a song that his parents probably sung to him when he was little in order to calm this kid down. It was just so sweet, and the lyrics were very nice as well

Then, going through Future’s End, I saw Dick singing it again, to another child that had just lost everything. Elena was talking to him, but he just wouldn’t listen to her. He was to busy singing to this little kid, again the same song

The Man On The Flying Trapeze

and I don’t know why, I thought maybe DC had invented that song. It made sense for Dick’s parentes to sing for him a song about trapeze, so I looked it up online, trying to find the hole lyric. And I found out it was (obviously!), a real, very old song! And I started listening to it, and got really moved by it. I know its silly, but the ideia of a little Dick Grayson listening to this song alongside with his parentes at the circus, or his mom singing it to him before he went to sleep was such a beautiful thought.

That’s the songs link:

it is really sweet
