ALRIGHT, I’ve been researching names and naming conventions and naming origins (I spent practically all day yesterday on it) so… How do we feel about a three-part naming system?
Every cat has three names (technically): their heart name, their face name, and their blood name.
A heart name is used personally and in private; this name is meant to be used by those closest to the cat in question. This name is typically given to the cat at birth, but can be comfortably changed at any given time so long as there is a reason behind the change.
A face name is used impersonally and publicly; this name is meant to be used by those who do not know the cat in question very well. This name comes along later in life, is typically earned through personal achievements, and is oftentimes based on the cat’s heart name.
Finally, a blood name is an ancient name, meant to link the cat in question back to an ancestor and their great deeds. Blood names are meant to mark an especially prominent or notable family line, and are passed down through the generations, though not everyone has a blood name.
I’ll use Tigerclaw as an example for this new naming style..
By this naming standard, he would become Tiger’s Shining-Claw. His heart name would be Tiger, his face name would be Tiger’s Claw, and his blood name is Shining(-Claw).
What do we think? 👀

"together, we are the Spider. i'm its head, and you're the legs. the legs do what the head says. but there will be times when the legs are more important than the head. If I die, someone else will take over. my orders are of the utmost priority. my life is not. be sure to make the right decision. i'm only a part of the Spider. what's important is the survival of the whole, not the individual"
