Methods of Spell Work

To Banish: • Burning to ashes and sweeping away the ashes • Cast out a window, down a cliffside, etc • Bury it and spit on the spot

To Bind: • Wrap in black thread • Cover in wax or other material • Seal in jar and hide in dark spot

To Hide: • Wrap in ribbon • Place in a (painted) black jar or other container • Cover in cloth or other material and bury

To Encourage: • Plant or bury near the front door/steps • Plant or bury near a window • Place near a window

To Communicate*: • Anoint a candle • Leave out an offering • Meditate • Open the front door and/or windows

To Glamour: • Leave under the full moon • Work with its reflection

To Cleanse: • Bury in salt • Burn herbs and pass through the smoke • Let it bathe in the moonlight

To Protect: • Leave sigils/wards on doors and windows • Carry sigils/wards on every day items (keys, phone case, etc) • Enchant jewelry with protection spells

*: Communication with deities, spirit guides, etc

Winter Solstice Party

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions on throwing a Yule party. I don’t think any of my friends are pagan/witchy, but they know I am; I’ve had small solstice parties in the past and everyone had a good time. When I’m looking for inspo I only see really outdated or gimmicky ideas. I know that Christmas is very derivative of Yule so there is a lot of crossover, but if anyone knows subtle winter solstice ideas I’d appreciate it!

Some ideas:

I ordered bulk whole sale crystals and incense to put together little bags for everyone

Decorating in white, green, red and gold

Cooking and baking a few dishes

Garlands and candles

I can’t believe I was a Speak Now hater for so long

How do you dispose of perishable offerings from your altar when you to switch out or redecorate? I feel bad just throwing them in the trash but I’m not sure what else to do. If anyone could message me what they do I’d be very grateful!

Witch Tip:

Get a copy of the map of your area. Not a country map, a state map, or even a county map. Your area. You can print off a Google map if a commercial version isn't available.

Take the map with you everywhere you go. Make notes on it of things you notice - does one area feel different to you? Does a tree live among many dead ones? Do you see the same cat sitting on the same fence post at the same time every morning? Where do bees live? What crossroads catch your eye? Is there a cemetary?

Once you've filled the map with your observations, keep it in your grimoire for reference.

They say all foxes are slightly allergic to linoleum, but it’s cool to the paw - try it. They say my tail needs to be dry cleaned twice a month, but now it’s fully detachable - see? They say our tree may never grow back, but one day, something will. Yes, these crackles are made of synthetic goose and these giblets come from artificial squab and even these apples look fake - but at least they’ve got stars on them. I guess my point is, we’ll eat tonight, and we’ll eat together. And even in this not particularly flattering light, you are without a doubt the five and a half most wonderful wild animals I’ve ever met in my life. So let’s raise our boxes - to our survival.

Meditation ideas for those who can’t sit still ✌️

Not everyone (me) can sit still and a lot of people (also me) find it hard to center themselves before a ritual or spell by just sitting and thinking. Here are some ideas I use when I find conventional reflection is not an option:

Count numbers up to either a target or until you feel content (I have been known to write on my leg I would suggest use paper)

Rip some paper or an index card as much as possible (use old paper that’s already been written on)

Run it out 🏃🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

If the weather is bad I will go outside and just shake or dance for as long as my bare feet can handle it, I come in feeling new and absolutely ready to go

Lay on the ground like a starfish and try to stretch your body as wide as it goes

Cook or bake something 🥘
