I'm gonna be real. I love detailed worldbuilding as a bonus thing, but the surface level shit has to be different and weird enough first before I can give a shit at all.
Rain world's lore pearls and deep background stuff is definitely something that keeps me interested, but I would care less if the basic premise of the world wasn't, when diluted, a weird fucking creature in a world of weird fucking creatures where the rain is so heavy it kills you, and even if it had never explained any of that it still would have been cool as fuck. In fact, most casual players DON'T get explanation or understand why basically anything happening for much of their playtime because it's deliberately obtuse about it, because it trusts that just existing in the world is interesting enough.
In the best of both worlds we can have both weird cool shit and stuff that explains it, but a lot of people think they can have a boring world as long as they put sooo much effort into explaining the economy and the crops and whatever else, and I'm sorry but unless your surface level world is interesting I actually don't give a shit at all. If I want to look into the details a mundane world it's actually just more interesting to read about real life history.
(Also, if I can read a paragraph about the way wheat grows and is harvested and made into bread and it works almost exactly the same way as your fantasy not-bread crop called daerb, then you haven't done any world building —you've just plagiarised wikipedia.)
Something i find deeply hilarious about verdant waterways is that like. this room basically gives us direct confirmation of at least one instance of those fuckass implicit side doors next to the pipe stacks at the ends of corridors/gates. but it also confirms another thing.
And that thing? it's that when given an option between going through some wretched pipe and an Open Fucking Door, both of which lead to the same destination, the slugcat, intelligent creature that it is, will choose the pipe.

Are Iterators a part of the great cycle? Or do they experience the same death and rebirth as the player/slugcats do? Or more generally: what types of things are a part of the cycle, and why?
Iterators live far too long and are far too karmically aligned to have their existence scattered through multiple strands, they tend to really only exist on a single one. But they're still material creatures, and still are a part of the cycle
Just... unborn, in a way.
Strands split and branch off and die due to rapid activity in dreams- like player deaths or karma gains. But iterators don't really do any of that, their strands never branch until they're diseased or near death, and if not for their taboos, would be able to slip away in an instant, like pulling a loose thread out from a sweater

So I was about to make a post about how using speech to text has already been a game changer for me but as you can see by the line of asterix at the start of this post the bloody thing auto censors swear words. (Yet bloody got through, ig Because it is a description and also British slang.). Hint: the word I was trying to say there starts with F and ends with K.
Oh and guess what else you can't say you can't say? **** [Nipples]. had to type that myself. penis is ok but **** [clitoris] isn't, and all my attempts to say "clit" were Misunderstood, which may just be my speech but at this point I am not willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Vagina is OK too but every time I say it there is a moment when an * shows up on screen first before the full word does. this doesn't happen when I say the word penis.
It is completely heinous. Anybody who needs speech to text is immediately forced to comply with the rules set out by people in a position of power and then enforced by a machine — a machine that is a very powerful accessibility tool. Imagine trying to dictate a letter to a doctor or fill in an E consult with speech to text, only to have words of your anatomy censored as if they are taboo. there is already far too much stigma around genital physical health — and note that I could say genital but can't say **** [clitoris] — for it to be okay for these words to be censored.
And even if somebody just wants to swear In a message to their friends or write smut/**** [pornography], they should be able to. There is no justification for this feature. No reason for it to be default.
I'm trying to find a way around this. There is a settings icon on the little speech to text bar that comes up, but this only gives me options For the speech typing launcher, auto punctuation, and to set the default microphone. it's making me extremely angry

When it comes to rain world's cosmology and metaphyics, I don't believe there will be a concrete answer to the structure of the strands or realities. I've attempted a few models myself, and I think its utterly futile
The system that governs RW's universe is inherently chaotic and can't be mapped out without cutting out some parts. It's like trying to make a 100% realistic food web of an entire ecosystem
Instead, I hope to focus on some general rules and patterns that show up related to the strands and alternate realities. It doesn't really matter their positioning in the world or the metaphysics of them, but that they're there, and the impact they have
I mean, I invite you guys to attempt to try and model it. But the Ancients themselves had trouble, they couldn't even agree on the cycle being a loop, a spiral, or a loop that forms into a spiral
