A mutual of mine told me to post this Doctor Who analysis I wrote of season 1, episode 6: Dalek.
"You would make a good Dalek" Right now, the doctor has just fought the last time war, his species is seemingly all dead expect him. And yet, the creature- that machine that still persists - tells him that he would be one of the "good" of their species for telling it bluntly to kill itself.
As much as the doctor is all for saving lives, we see a much darker version of him, literally and figuratively, through the lens of a Dalek.
Throughout the whole episode we see the masterfully put together story of how the Dalek and the doctor are in some extraordinary way, the same. The doctor can deny it all he wants, but it is the truth in this moment. And it crushes him. Because he also must believe he should be dead as well as the Dalek. A soldier with no orders.
what would you do
Link to the original video:
Given the moral crisis that 12 was going through immediately after his regeneration, wondering whether or not he was a good man, I find it supremely interesting that the first and one of the only times he gets a flat acknowledgement of that fact is from a Dalek.
And the way it contrasts the scene with 9, another Doctor haunted by his past and the weight of his sins.
He gets told that he would make a good Dalek. He gives in to his hatred and if not for Rose, he would have lost himself in it. If hatred is what makes the Daleks the Daleks , then the companions are what make them the Doctor. That’s the only difference. A good Dalek and a good Dalek.
If I ever create / start a band I do it with the intention of one day being able to just yell something mundane like "grain of sand" in such a compelling way it shatters someone's kneecaps.
This has been the best take I've seen on this issue so far
idk shit about hazbin hotel and i dislike it just because it looks like that but making the tumblr sexyman bait aroace was the funniest possible thing to do. the most sexualized type of chararacter just gives no fucks. it’s perfect
Just because something works for you doesn’t mean it works for someone else or vice versa.
Just because it helped you to forgive your abuser doesn’t mean that everyone has to forgive in order to heal.
Just because it helped you and gave you closure to report doesn’t mean everyone has to report to heal.
Just because being angry was bad for you and caused you harm doesn’t mean being angry is bad for someone else.
There is no one way to heal. Everyone is different and heals differently. Assuming that because something worked for you, therefore it must work for everyone else is wrong and ignores the fact that we’re all individuals on our own healing journey. Or assuming that because something didn't work for you means it isn't valid for anyone else is wrong.
Something being right for you doesn’t make it right for everyone. Something being harmful to you doesn’t mean it’s harmful to everyone. We are all unique and this means our healing journeys will also be unique to us. And that's okay.
This might be one of the coolest fucking pieces of art to find

i hate the stereotype that ALL aroaces are loveless because like.. no??
Loveless people are amazing and extremely valid, but I'm certainly not one of them.
I personally am extremely aroace and extremely loving. God was like "ah shit we forgot to put romantic and sexual attraction in this mf let's just platonically supercharge them to make up for it".
And to me personally, my aroace identity goes hand in hand with my being extremely platonically loving. The two aren't opposing forces, they're joined hand in hand, interwoven through each other to make a beautiful patterned fabric filled with many different beautiful colours.
My best friends are the loves of my life. They're my platonic soulmates. I would want to spend the rest of my life with them. I adore everything about them, and try to help their best side shine through so that everyone else can see their wonderful glimmer. I could spent eternity hanging out with my best friends and never run out of social energy because I don't have to attempt to conform or hide the weirder shades of my personality. Just being around them is so easy and freeing and just always fills me with such joy.
But oh, because I don't want to kiss them it's not real love and somehow less meaningful than romance???
Fuck off, amatonormativity.
(THIS POST IS NOT TO BE USED AGAINST LOVELESS AROACES IN ANY WAY, EVER. YOU GUYS ARE VALID, YOU'RE ICONIC AND YOU NEED MORE APPRECIATION. SENDING INFINITE GOOD VIBES YOUR WAY.)
