every time someone mischaracterizes nuanced character relationships and turns it into a basic parent-child dynamic, i die a little inside

my main gripe with this is about nahida being called scara's mom/aunt but it also extends to zhongli & xiao, wriothesley & sigewinne, neuvillette & furina, etc.

like. i enjoy found family as much as everyone else but that is a terrible injustice to the characters' writing. the character typecast as the child is infantilized to hell and back while the other character is reduced to a 2d caricature of the perfect parent. Bruh

don't get me wrong, headcanons are fine and all, it just irks me that some people consider it lore accurate when it really isn't

Kaeya who wears Khaenri’ahn symbolism boldly whenever he finds he has the freedom to, right alongside his celestia- given vision. Kaeya who fights for the valor and freedom of Mondstadt with a forsaken nation’s long-lost ceremonial bladework. Kaeya who laughs in the traveler’s face at the idea of being associated with Khaenri’ah but keeps a record of the Alberich family’s motto right alongside his childhood objects with Diluc. Kaeya who yearns for his home Khaenri’ah, his forgotten nation, and at the same time yearns for a home in Mondstadt as well despite living there. Kaeya who has not once slept peacefully at night and wake up without guilt. Kaeya who will never truly be able to pick an outcome where he can save everyone he loves. Kaeya who was doomed from the start.

Going into 4.1 hoping I will finally be even remotely interested in Wrio.lette bc I cannot look for Neuvillette fanart without being bombarded w/ their ship art and then coming out of 4.1 with a soft spot for both Focallette and Wriorinde instead bc all Wrio.lette interactions were dreadfully boring and they had negative chemistry is... very funny actually.

Wrio's SQ is the last option Hoyoverse has to endear me to them but considering the dialogue count leaks that seems... uh... unlikely bc Neuvillette literally does not have a single line of dialogue in Wrio's SQ.

I like Wriothesley and I like Neuvillette but I may have to add the ship name to my blacklist just to scroll through their respective tags in peace lol
