hey sorry if this is a stupid question, but some of the phrasing is slightly confusing, are nonprofits themselves bad or is it jsut specifically ones such as gates' that protect private interests?
wealthy non-profits are typically a tax haven. there are decent non-profits yes, but theyre usually picking up slack that the government should have already been dealing with imo.
like we shouldn’t have charities feeding children our government should simply pay people enough and provide them with enough resources so their children dont go hungry in the first place.
but apparently this is too controversial of an opinion.
Someone explain to me why vegans have a problem with eggs, milk, and honey. They require the animal’s labor, not its life.
All food requires labor to some extent. If you see animal labor as precious and to be avoided, but human labor as fine, then I don’t understand your priorities.
And if your concern is a cruel industry, then the desire should be for radical change in the food industry, not an inherent opposition to specific foods.
I cannot stress this enough; you need to support public education. You need to assure high standards are being kept and that funding is sustained, increased, and appropriately divested.
The far-right (and even conservative right) have spent decades eroding the belief and support of public education. We are now reaching the end stages of the goal. On the surface it looks like they simply want to defund public schools in order to prop up their charter and religious private schools, but it’s so much worse and you need to be concerned.
Without proper education people are left naive to what is going on around them - in this case it would be the dismantling of democracy. Without learning how to properly understand information and critically think about actions and events you’re likely to just believe what you’re told.
Public education is a pillar of democracy. This is not a question or opinion it is a straight fact.
There is so much more to this and I could continue on for pages but I’m simply asking you to be aware and try to do whatever you can to prop up and support public education before it is truly too late.
