Can you talk a little about Remus’ intelligence? Recently I’ve felt it’s been severely downplayed in fandom as a response to fanon depicting Sirius as “the dumb one” and Remus as “the smart one” in a wolfstar context. While obviously Sirius is extremely intelligent that doesn’t mean Remus has to be dumb in contrast? I also think they just have different types of intelligence, and I strongly believe that basing their intellect off of their achievements in school is limiting (also people don’t take into account that Remus was sick every month for at least 3 days, even if he was matched perfectly in intelligence with Sirius he’d still be doing worse in school). What’s your take on this my balanced remus lover friend?

I don't think Remus is a 'genius', like James and Sirius might be. But he's a bloody capable wizard - hard-earned, not talent.

The one flashback we get of him as a kid, we see him focusing hard on his OWL's, despite an upcoming Full Moon. He has his own methods for revision - when he asks Sirius if he would help him study, Sirius can't fathom why he should bother. Sirius doesn't need to revise or study - but Remus is good at it.

You're damn right that doesn't mean he is stupid compared to Sirius. There's nothing stupid about forming methods to help himself learn. Sirius and James are natural talents - Remus is a nerd.

By adulthood his work ethic has paid off: He has effortless confidence in his charms and conjuring - doing most of it without incantation. He's kind of a badass: He conjured fire and a non-corporeal Patronus without incantation - while exhausted and in the presence of a dementor. He could duel Lucius Malfoy, battled death eaters in the astronomy tower, dueled while flying and supporting an injured man on his broom - and disarmed multiple people in a row with enough accuracy to catch their wands. (tbf they were children)

Remus is a natural at teaching. First day on the job: he handles a room full of kids like he's been at it for years, even those with difficulties who need extra care and encouragement. He is patient with Harry learning to cast a Patronus, explaining things clearly to him - changing his explanation as Harry's needs change. This shows a deep understanding of both the material he is teaching... and what it is like to learn. Knowing how to struggle, how to adapt, how to learn, the validity of different perspectives - that's good wisdom.

His greatest strength is his Social Intelligence. Witty, astute, cunning, sly, persuasive… Sirius isn't socially inept but he is so honest and blunt he can come across as kicking the door down - rather than Remus' picking the lock and making it seem like a natural innocent behaviour. Does that make sense...? It was the entirety of his role in PoA: A murderer on the loose after Harry's blood - and yet through all the mysterious absences, sketchy evasiveness, superficial closeness with Harry, slightly slap-dash teaching methods and blatant distrust from Snape (who had been proven trustworthy - Harry just thought he was an arse)… Remus Lupin manages to charm his students, getting to know them without any of them knowing anything about him. He has Harry hanging off his every word, despite obvious apprehension to engage with him about his parents or needs. He effortlessly keeps Harry's trust even when he blatantly, skillfully lies in-front of him - and TO him! For his own gain!!! The scene of the Marauders Map is a brazen display of how quickly he can manipulate his way out of a complex situation. Even when he is with a murderer and they all know he will turn into a werewolf soon - he commands emotional focus. Ron is injured, a Murderer is present, they are supposed to be investigating a rat with haste... yet most of the time they are discussing HIM and why HE is 'not so scary, please don't hate me' in a long-winded fashion.

Only Snape seems immune. So he bullies him to shut him up. Without SEEMING like a bully. The kids think he is great, the way he can control the uncontrollable - Snape and Peeves.

Remus slips in and everyone is so taken with him they never notice the lock being picked. Their perception of him is on a tight leash. A magician’s sleight of hand and a silver tongue. Lockheart WISHES he could do this.

Remus is practical and practiced. He has the grit of someone who has fought for his life with both his wand and his tongue. He has lived a life of misdirection, gaslighting and manipulation - always subtle, always present. He reads others better than himself and moves through society with quiet ease, slipping in unnoticed and slipping out just as easily. No wonder he works as a spy.

He’s a top-class wizard - held back only by circumstance. Balancing his core needs, his interests and his health with no support network and poverty…? yeesh. In another life he may have been able to focus his efforts on a passion, rather than on topics that aid his survival in a harsh world.

As he is, though: he’s a formidable duelist and skilled charmer (magically and socially) - a survivalist, both in the wild and within society. An outcast who never seems like one. A wolf in sheep's clothing.

Used For: Leaving any situation with an air of academic importance

Effectiveness: ∞/10 - Works best when said while holding a chocolate bar as if it's research equipment

Effectiveness: ∞/10 – Even McGonagall lets it slide once.

HONORABLE MENTION (THE ONE TIME IT FAILED):

Used On: Sirius, who immediately throws a pillow at him.

Verdict: "Try harder, Moony."

sirius black was meant to inherit the fortunes of both his grandparents, one through alphard and one through orion.

this is what could turn him into potentially the most powerful wizard in the lense of society. we know the malfoys were the richest when we were introduced to them, but that was in a world where the black heir was in prison.

this is what sells to me the idea that neither walburga or orion wanted to play the family game and leave the task up to cygnuss, since alphard didn’t played along either.

walburga and orion marriage was a powerful move. together they ensured the next heir to be powerful whilst securing the family line. but also, there’s a chance they had regulus not as the spare, or at least not in the sense for him to become the heir in case something happens with sirius, but more as to spare him of any duties.

they could’ve put all the expectations and pressure onto sirius and simultaneously free up his youngest to be who ever he wanted to be, an option they didn’t have.

Sirius x Marlene(Blackinnon)sexually suggestive themes throughout

They’re totally best friends, conjoined at the hip, never seeing each other as anything more, until Sirius comes out. She spends a lot of time with the girls, and now that they’re out of school, she feels a lot freer to be herself and explore femininity.

She spends a fuck tonne of time with Mary, because Mary is the makeup and fashion lover of the group, and really helps Sirius find something that fits.

They’re going to a club one night, their whole group, to a queer club, and Sirius wants to go all out. Marlene puts on her suit jacket, just a bra underneath, smokey eye, chunky boots, feeling very hot and very gay.

Mary and Lily help get Sirius all dolled up, doing her makeup and making her try on all their dresses, and Marlene simply gets to watch and judge.

She ends up in a sparkly number, a pretty dark periwinkle that's pretty short, spaghetti straps that lace up at the back, so her entire back tattoo is exposed as well, just how she wanted since it was new. The girls put her in a very dark lip, a burgundy sort of colour, with silver shadow fading into a shimmery blue, then smoked out with black. Her hair is down with luscious waves and a couple of cute pins in it so it looks like pearls are in her hair. To top it all off, she’s putting on a pair of platform boots, which make her 6”5, and intimidating as fuck.

Marlene thinks she looks hot, because she does look hot, but it’s not in the same way she thinks Mary or Lily look hot. No she’s like, attracted to Sirius, which is odd.

They go to the club and are having an amazing time, dancing, drinking, whatever the fuck. Marlene's glad she picked her tall boots because dancing with Sirius would give her even more of a neck ache if she were any shorter.

And Sirius is… she knows how to move her hips, that's for sure. Tattooed arms moving up above her head as she dances, sometimes pressing into Marlene, and it’s hot in here. It’s so fucking hot in here.

And it doesn’t help that Sirius set a goal for all the single people to try and get a hookup - or at least a kiss - tonight, because she wanted to get with someone as a woman for the first time, but is nervous about doing it alone. And so here Marlene is, thinking about that. Thinking about Sirius getting all shy and flirting with someone, and letting them take her home for the night, and now she’s getting even hotter under the collar.

She goes to get them drinks, then comes back to find Sirius dancing with James. They’re having a laugh, holding each other close and grinding on each other a bit. And Marlene's jealous. She’s asking herself why the fuck Sirius picked that best friend to proper grind on rather than Marlene, even though it obviously means nothing, but like, one horny dance with Sirius might quench her thirst enough to not do something weird.

Sirius stops dancing with James the moment she spots Marlene and rushes to her to grab a drink, she drags Marlene back over and her and James are laughing about the good dance they just had. James makes a joke about getting at least a little bit of action since all the blokes seem to be taken tonight, and has yet to find someone else interested in men.

Sirius gets’ flirted with a few times, but the people either aren't her type, or she gets weird and flustered and runs away, complaining to Marlene about it. In the end, they end up home without having had a hookup, and Marlene is a little grateful for it.

They’re lying in bed together, having plopped down on the soft mattress the moment they got into James and Sirius’ apartment (James is getting busy with some pretty person in the next room), and they’re chatting about their night. Sirius is feeling euphoric, which makes Marlene really happy.

“I just… I wanted to hook up with someone tonight, you know?” She sighed, chewing on a silver painted nail, “I just… I know it’s probably stupid, but I think it’s just the last step I’d like to take with all this… like, other than the medical stuff. I’d just like to have sex with someone- or not even sex, just something with someone and feel like a girl doing it. You know, everyone I’ve been with have fucked me as a guy and it’s always been so shit and awful, and I’d like to feel good. You know? It will make me feel good. There was one guy, tonight, who was really hot but… he kinda gave me the impression that I might get misgendered, so-”

“Ew.” Marlene grimaced.

“Yeah.” Sirius shrugged, looking over at Marlene, “James said he’d fuck me, you know, if I didn’t find someone. I thought he was joking at first, but he wasn’t. He said he’d make sure I had a good time, and would call me all pretty things, which is nice.” She laughed, “When he started getting it on with that person he almost rejected them since I didn’t find someone, but I didn’t want him to not get a fuck he actually wanted for my sake.”

“You would have fucked him? Your best friend?” Marlene gasped.

“Yeah?” She giggled, looking up at the roof, “I mean, no denying he’s fucking fit, Marlene. Look at him. And I’ve seen him naked- hung.”

Marlene laughed and looked back up at the ceiling too, “I mean, sure, I guess. I don’t know, I’m a fucking lesbian.”

“Yeah.” Sirius said, “I know he wouldn’t make it awkward… and I actually feel comfortable and trust him, you know? I’d rather fuck someone I know would treat me correctly and have it be a bit awkward for a week after, than end up with some weirdo who calls me handsome or something, you know?”

“I suppose… yeah, I get it.”

“I could ask Remus.” Sirius shrugged, “He’s a whore- don’t know if he likes girls or not, actually, but, if he did, he’d… nah, wait, I think he doesn’t like girls… Petes taken- Do you think Mary or Lily would fuck me?”

Marlene's eyes widened and she looked over at her slowly, “Are you serious?”

“Yes, I am, darling.” She grinned, devilish, “And, I don’t know… Maybe. They’re pretty- god, girls are all so pretty. Do they have something going on? They were kind of…”

“Yeah, I’m waiting to see how long it takes them to fuck. Reckon they’re doing it tonight. I’ll probably get a text before morning from both of them saying they’ve got something crazy to tell me.”

Sirius giggled, “So they’re off the table then. Fuck.”

“Why do you wanna do it so bad?” Marlene asked.

“I don’t know, it’s stupid, I know.” She sighed, “But… I just… I want to feel sexy, okay? Is that such a crime? I feel pretty, and hot, and gorgeous, and beautiful, but I don't feel sexy. I want to be sexy- I want someone to think I’m a sexy woman and fuck me about it-”

“I think you’re sexy.” Marlene said, and immediately went red afterwards.

“What?” Sirius asked, looking at Marlene with alarm.

“I didn’t mean to say that, but- fuck, sure, alright, I’ll bite.” She mumbled, rolling onto her side to face Sirius, “Uh, yeah, it’s weird. You put on that dress tonight and I thought, shit, she’s hot, and those boots? Bloody hell, you’re so tall, and you dance like fucking sin, and your makeup looks amazing, and I’m so fucking attracted to you right now I felt my fucking boxers getting damp in the club-”

Sirius had kissed her, rolling them over until she was straddling marlene.

“W- Sirius, is this a bad idea?” She asked.

“I don’t care.” Sirius breathed, “You think I’m sexy, I want-”

“Yeah, but… I don’t know if-”

“Please.” Sirius muttered, “Fuck, I don’t even care if it fucks things up, Marlene. I want you- you’re so… for a while now. I fucking fancy you, okay? I don’t care if you don’t feel the same, just fuck me and… and… tomorrow.”

“This is stupid.” Marlene muttered, pulling Sirius down to kiss again, “We should talk about it-”

“Tomorrow.” Sirius said, muffled by her lips, “Please, I want you so bad, Marlene, I’m going insane.”

“Yeah- fuck, yeah, alright.” She whispered, tucking hair behind Sirius’ ear, “You’re so fucking pretty- take this off?”

Sirius blushed bright fucking red, Marlene had never seen her so shy. She thinks, maybe, she’s actually already succeeded in making Sirius feel like a sexy woman. But fuck if she isn’t going to make her feel like the sexiest woman alive. And then tomorrow, she thinks she’ll take Sirius out, on a real proper date, because Marlene is chivalrous and doesn’t fuck without a date.

Plus, her best friend is cute as hell and kinda exactly her type. 

Part 2 (pure smut so 18+ only please)

I love how this used to be like a massive ship in the fandom before ATYD i think and now they’re both just so fucking gay. The thought of these two being a massive ship is insane to me, such an odd thought, but I’m gonna think about it today. Specifically trans fem Sirius because I fucking love her with my whole heart, and also Marlene is THE lesbian, okay. She aint like men.

i wouldn’t mind having an uncle like alphard black and his very dubious businesses at this point.

but can’t stop thinking of sirius teaching harry all kind of spells and sharing his more crazy pranks despite lily/remus/regulus (who ever is the most sensible in this scenario) telling him it’s a bad idea, harry is too young, but sirius is like: what’s the matter? i knew all of it when i was his age and turned out fine (again, debatable from regulus perspective).

then suddenly harry is teaching his kid all of that stuff and it bites him in the ass. doesn’t matter if harry is younger or older, works either way.

sirius: you know, you could help me sort this stuff out?

marls: oh why would i when it’s so much fun watching you struggle

marls: and you are smart man, you’ll figure it out. just keep your wand out of her reach.
