sure you can! i love thinking of those two 💓

these are a few of the top of my head:

- they have similar stories for their first kiss. marls went to a party with some of mary’s muggle friends and got to play spin the bottle. james and sirius went exploring the underground one summer and ended up in a very family oriented neighborhood and crashed a birthday party. sirius kissed the birthday girl, ofc. he then got banned from visiting the potters.

- somewhere in fourth year marls kiss sirius, caught him off guard. she just wanted to know what all the fuss was about. things didn’t change much after that.

- fifth year last day of school both marls and sirius have gone through a lot (the prank, marls got into a horrible fight lily, the whole war situation getting worse) so they hook up as means to distract themselves. surely nothing would change right? WRONG.

- cut to the hogwarts express getting back to hogwarts starting sixth year and they both get all so awkward when they bump into each other. it’s embarrassing.

- marlene wrote a few times to sirius over the summer before second and third year. nothing major, nothing relevant. except for the fact those were the only letters walburga allowed for sirius to receive and respond to (aside from peter’s). sirius thinks he secretly did, but walburga knew.

- sirius showed marls around muggle london the summer before seventh year when he went to live on his own. they were together when he bought his infamous leather jacket (secondhand as the leather is always best).

- at some point during the war when things gets worse and it might seem like they will actually lose, sirius implied a proposal to marls. he never actually said the words. they were drunk (i wrote about it i think). anyway, sirius himself diss missed it as “never mind, im drunk, i’m might die soon anyway”.

- marls couldn’t stop thinking about it and hated sirius for putting the idea in her head. she had never thought about marriage, not even after lily and james married, but it’s sirius, after all. she ends up dying instead.

- this one is sad (well, even more so). i think at some point marls had a miscarriage. again, never thought about kids and i personally don’t see blackinnon as parents ever (i project way too hard onto them im afraid), but she never tells sirius about it until they found out lily’s pregnant. marls thinks it’s an horrible idea to have a kid during a war. sirius thinks it’s fine, they’re in love, it’s meant to happen. marls crumbles right there and then after picking a fight over it with sirius.

- padfoot visited marls grave way more often that he’ll care to admit.

so i was listening to a podcast about rereading books from when you were a teenager and apparently in divergent trilogy’s there’s a character name marlene who was a born-dauntless and were part of the loyal-dauntless after the whole mind control thing and she dies (obviously i had forgotten all about it).

she was portrayed by suki waterhouse in the movies.

i can’t. too many worlds colliding.

what if the story begins with gilderoy surprising peter with a wedding for his anniversary (better late than never) and all their friends join them in the honeymoon (codependency at its best) and all hell break lose?

sirius trying to down play the fact that he’s going mad having marlene constantly watching out for him because he knows is out of love.

the potters acting as their parents.

remus bringing tonks for the first time on a holiday with them.

Lily: Sirius has a point. Sirius: Who asked you?! Sirius: Wait- I mean... What she said!

durmstrang!sirius and slytherin!marlene | dark!blackinnon au

walburga senses, as most mothers often do, that hogwarts may not be the right place for sirius after all, so before his letter arrives at 11, she ensures his place at durmstrang is secured. he is a black, so that’s easy enough. and while sirius is our fully rebellious teenager that we know and love and doesn’t exactly fit within the black family standards, he can’t quite deny that he’s having a bit of fun learning a few new tricks in his heavily dark arts oriented school.

on the other side, we have a completely surprised marlene after being sorted into slytherin. and yet she can’t quite complain. the views from under the lake are stunning and there’s a lot of comfort surrounding her in her new house. and she can’t exactly claim she doesn’t fit in either because after all, not only his father is head of a department in the ministry, but the mckinnons are a well respected pureblood family even if they’re not considered rich enough to commune with the highest wizarding families.

both sirius and marlene are surrounded by people talking day and night about the dark lord and his promises to build a new world and how he will reward his most loyal followers. neither are particularly interested in it and, at this point, they’re both safe enough for them and their families to not being at risk.

also yes, they’re both know each other, seeing as marlene is the daughter of an important figure in the ministry and the black’s business often times coincides within the realm of the ministry, they were the type of kids who tag along their parents from time to time and they were left to socialize. they got along well enough, to the point marlene had been disappointed when certain heir didn’t joined her in hogwarts.

now let’s cut to after graduation shall we?

sirius ends up joining the death eaters because he feels someone has to look after his idiot brother before he manages to get himself killed.

marlene doesn’t join the order given her acquaintances in hogwarts, thinking she might not be able to keep it a secret and believes her family is safe as long they don’t say anything against the new world order that is expected to take over.

except his father ends up using his position in the ministry to his advantage thinking he might have a chance to impact change for good and death eathers find his involvement with the order. they not only set out to kill him, but as a precaution they kill all of his family with the exception of marlene.

marlene has two choices: either join the order and help them win the war or set out to plot revenge for her family on her own. she chooses the latter.

now, in this au regulus tells his findings about the dark lord to sirius and doesn’t die in that cave. but that doesn’t mean he’s saved.

sirius now holds the power to take down voldemort once and for all and because he heard what happened to the mckinnons, set to reach out to marlene playing a bit of double agent himself.

trouble is marlene has found the death eaters headquarters and manages to bring the whole building to the ground all on her own.

now, any guesses who’s little brother was inside that building at the time of the explosion?

that’s right: regulus black.

what’s sirius to do now? especially since marlene is showing no remorse for her actions, claiming it was regulus choice to join the death eaters in the first place, knowing damn well the risks.

sirius: you know the man i told you about, the one i was in love with? marlene: yes. he died. sirius: he’s james. marlene: as in potter? no. he’s alive, sirius. that can’t be. sirius: marls… marlene: what are you talking about? sirius: you really don’t know, do you? marlene: what don’t i know? sirius: … marlene: sirius? sirius: i could help you. you could see again. you could live. you don’t have to go through with this marlene: you’re not making any sense, how can you help me do any of those things? you’re not god sirius: no. i’m definitely not god
