Listen…it was one thing that Rowan and Aelin were able to read each other’s thoughts so well…it was another that Rhys and Feyre could actually speak to each other in their minds…but how in the flying fuck are Ruhn and Day having sex rn when they are in their mental world place??💀😭

HOSAB & ACOSF: Fae Legends

Dusk Court:

- Confirmation the legendary 8th court did exist and that it's likely the prison island. The pegasus originally hailed from this island. Therefore Bryce’s fan-girl fascination with Pegasus toys is a homage to the land of her ancestors.

Legends of the Fae:

- Theia was the Dusk Court’s Ruler. She became High Queen of the Fae when she wed the last High King, Fionn.

- At some point, Theia and Pelias (who was the High King's general) decided to betray (...or leave) Fionn.

- They stole Fionn's cache of weapons (the starborn sword, truth-teller, the horn, the harp, etc.). THen Theia, Pelias, and Theia's 2 daughters ran off to another world - using the horn and the harp to open the gatway. This world was CC. Theia and gang quickly figured out who the Asteri were - their old masters: The Daglan.

- Theia decides to join forces with the armies of Hel to destroy the Asteri. This is likely how Theia and Adias meet... and then fall in love.

- Pelais (who likely didn't like being replaced or demoted) decided to align with the Asteri. He killed Theia on the battlefield and then crowned himself prince by forcing the eldest Starborn daughter Helena to marry him.

- Jesibia's comment to Adias about “don't fuck us over this time” likely means that after Theia died, Adias and his brothers decided to take their armies back to Hel and leave Pelais and the Fae (as well as the rest of the people of CC) to fend for themselves against the Asteri. Obviously, that didn't end well. The people of CC are still fighting some version of this battle to this day.

- Helena was forced to marry Pelias against her will. Helena and her younger sister likely came-up with the plot to save the Fae from Asteri domination in both words.

- I think the "plan" was that Helena would remain in CC partly as a decoy, but also to use the horn to help close the gates into CC. Meanwhile, her younger sister sneaks off (into the night)....using the harp she travels back to their ACOTAR homeworld. Helena kept the Starsword and The Horn, but her sister got the dagger (truthteller) The Harp....and both travel back with her to the Dusk Court.

- The images Nesta saw when touching the Harp, are of the Fae in CC. They are trying to get back thru the gate into their ACOTAR homeworld – but there wasn’t enough time for everyone to make it through. Likely the Asteri were closing in. Thus the sisters used the horn and/or harp to close the access point. Some of the Fae were in fact trapped in the walls when this happened. Perhaps, this is the magical act that caused the island to die.

- Helena’s sister went on to close all the access points in the ACOTAR world. In Prythian the access points are likely the three mountains - The Middle, The Prison, and Ramiel. There may be others on the continent - maybe Koschei's lake? With the access points closed, Helena's sister had no way to return to CC. She lived in Prythian for the rest of her life.

- Given the resemblance that Ruhn and Rhys share....Theia's younger daughter likely became (through marriage) apart of the Night Court - and is Rhy's ancestor.

- Ruhn is a descendant of Helena. Rhys is a descendant of her younger sister. This is why they look alike.

- Theia's family name is Starborn. Helena’s last name was also Starborn – this is why in CC they’re known as "Starborn Fae".

- Rhy’s family name is Starborn!!! (It was passed on from the un-named sister.)

House of Sky And Breath Theories (contain Spoilers)

sooo i just finished hosab and let me say it was so fucking amazingggg! while reading i got a few new theories about the worlds of crescent city, acotar and throne of glass

DO NOT - AND I MEAN IT - DO NOT READ IT IF YOU DON´T WANT TO SEE/READ ABOUT THE SPOILERS!!!!

Amren is the 7th lost Asteri sister - They say that the Prince of the Pit swallowed the 7th Asteri, Sirius, whole, but what if he didn't? Perhaps she didn't like what the Asteri stood for, and the swallowing was a method of dragging her into Prythian - "No one has spoken that language in this world for fifteen thousand years" is quoted by Amren when Bryce first speaks to her in HOSAB...interesting that the 7th Asteri sister was swallowed by the prince of pit 15,000 years ago - to me the timelines match up - I know Amren doesn't feed on first light, but she does drink blood...something of power in itself, taken unwillingly - She is said to be a powerful creature of unknown origins, but that doesn't mean that she isn't Asteri. They have chosen angel like bodies but that's not to say they true form is any different to what Amren was before she chose to be put in a fae body -> Could be grasping for straws here but it feels RIGHT

Ruhn looks like Rhys - are they related? - are Rhy's ancestors part of the original fae that went to Lunathion? After all, Theia and "her people were already in Lunathion" when the Asteri arrived (see next bullet to explore this) -> Funny how we don't know Rhys' last name. Could it possibly be... DANAAN?

Bryce and Ruhn's ancestors came from Prythian and ultimately, to the original world of the Fae - Rigelus mentions that Bryce's breed of fae came from a "verdant land, rich and magic". When Bryce lands in Prythian...what type of grass does she land on? "Verdant grass". - Rigelus mentions that Bryce's star of her chest is a "beacon to the world from which the Fae originally came" and that it will lead them back to that world..interesting that Bryce wanted to go to Hel, but ended up in Prythian

Theia came from the lost Dusk court / the Dusk court plays into it somehow -> Danika's project is called Dusk's Truth...coincidence? I think not.

Throne of Glass and Erilea are going to play into this cross over some how - Rigelus mentions that the wolves/shifters are fae but not from where Bryce's type of fae are from...but he does mention that they all came from a different planet where "all the Fae in that world shared their form with an animal" and they perhaps at one stage, "shared a world with [Bryce's breed of Fae" -> I can't keep a certain fae hawk, mountain lion and wolf out of my head - ToG has witches to...perhaps they also went through a rift to Lunathion -> SJM will have us ToG fans beating down her door if she doesn't do a crossover with our fav characters - it's happening and I refuse to believe otherwise

The horn is the fourth trove I´m so fucking sure about it now (had this theorie since the first cc book but now i´m just so sure about it)

Hunt is somehow related to Thurr? - I mean we ALL thought that the underking was Hunts father, but that theory is kind of dead in the water. Guy is an asshole and there was no recognition there - Bryce mentions many times he looks like Thurr, and his powers are similar...how are they connected? Son? Grandson? Timelines are unclear

Rifts are everywhere throughout SJM's books - does a lot of passing happen between worlds more than we are aware? I know Theia and her daughters figured out where all the rifts were in Lunathion, promptly closing them, but that doesn't mean there aren't rifts still open in our other favorite worlds...meaning crossing can happen a lot more easily than we think It would explain a lot of cross-over between linage and missing characters showing up in other SJM series

What do you think about these?

Friendly reminder that this is the first thing Lidia says to Hunt after showing up in Lunathion:

Friendly Reminder That This Is The First Thing Lidia Says To Hunt After Showing Up In Lunathion:

I mean Ruhn gives her a bevy of context clues the night before (that he has a sister and a cruel, powerful, and crafty father, plus that he’s in the city), and she’s an interrogation expert and a spy.

Homegirl knows exactly who Agent Night is pretty early on.

HOSAB SPOILERS

I’ve just finished CC2 and I have so many theories I need to get off my chest.

1 - I think the Asteri are the same species as the gods are in the ToG world. The ToG gods mentioned being trapped in the ToG world and wanted to find a way back to their home world which I tick is Midgard (CC world) and that the Asteri and the gods were all part of that plot to find food (??) but got trapped when the northern rift closed.

I don’t think they are Valg as the firstlight feeding thing doesn’t match what we learned about them in ToG.

Aelin didn’t send the gods back to their homeworld but instread trapped them in a hellscape where they were destroyed, which i think is Hel and they wee killed by the princes of Hel.

2-I hope we get to see the ToG characters again (even if its a little cameo). We now know that the shifters are descendants from the same Fae that Rowan and Aelin are and I think the witches are from that world too, from back in CC1 when they mentioned worshipping a three faced goddess like the watched in ToG.

3 - I think Queen Theia is the High Queen of Prynthia that was mentioned in ACOSF and she took Gwydion and Truth-Teller with her to Midgard. She had two daughters one of which is Ruhn’s ancestor who kept the Starsword (Gwydion) in Midguard which was thought lost in ACOTAR world. Theia’s other daughter went missing, I think she travelled back to Prynthia with Truth-Teller and either she herself or one of her descendants married a High Lord of the Night Court which is why Ruhn and Rhys look so similar. Truth-Teller could if been passed through the family line until Rhys or his father gave it to Azriel.

I have a few more theories about Bryce’s tattoo being written in Wyrdmarks and maybe the holy language Amren mentioned could be what her world called Wyrdmarks

I’m just wondering about everyone else’s theories .

✨ some of MY OPINIONS on HOSAB ✨

SPOILERS AHEAD

• First of all, there’s just WAYYY too much going on. It felt a little too ambitious at times. too many plots, subplots and characters

• Bryce isn’t particularly likeable to me, she feels arrogant, selfish and refuses to take criticism or advice from others even when it’s valid. It’s her way or the high way. She’ll decide to do something and nothing anyone else says will sway her opinion, even when it’s clear to others and to the reader it’s a bad decision

• The others thinking Bryce could rule the fae at this point doesn’t make sense. She has no royal or strategic training, doesn’t think plans through, makes decisions mainly based on what she wants and the only moments I could see her fully taking charge was when the others compared her to her father. Someone who she claims she’s nothing alike/ wants nothing to do with yet uses his name and position to get her way, and cry’s ignorance once she has to deal with the consequences for her actions. She could get there someday, but I don’t think she’s ready for that comparison yet

• Cormac was a completely wasted character, he had so much potential and was just used by the others at every turn yet none of them really helped him. Bryce in particular messed him over

• Ruhn had the most growth in this book. He felt the most rounded out as the book progressed and his character was very endearing

• The Hind has become one of the most interesting characters now. No questions please.

• Bryce had no right hiding Emile from Cormac. That decision in the longterm is probably the right decision but Cormac, as Sofie’s partner, as someone Sofie died entrusting Emile to his care, had every right to at least meet with him once to check on him, tell him stories of Sofie and make sure he’d be cared and loved for before they took him away

• Danika began to feel like a tool to progress the plot or reveal information. It became almost a running joke for me while reading. The constant reveals about her past felt very heavy handed and it made it seem like Danika and Bryce where only surface level friends. They clearly loved each-other, but what did Bryce really know about her that others didn’t?!

• Ithan being in love with Bryce was a useless plot point. It didn’t need to happen, it has no impact on the story at all other than to make us and some characters feel sorry for him. He has so many other interesting plot points and characteristics and I think it would have been much more interesting to focus on his feelings of isolation after being cut off from the pack, and his brothers death, than it did for him to keep feeling bad about being in love with Bryce. Them having a more sibling esc relationship like they did in the first book makes much more sense

• A lot of the villains felt like the same person with a different appearance. Like okay it’s a war, there’s going to be bad people, but a lot of them, mostly the triarii, felt like Maas said ‘copy and paste’.

• I can’t even begin to describe my frustration with Tharion’s character. He was good for comic relief and I like him, but he had many outs he could have taken to leave the Blue court earlier, but ended up putting himself in an arguably worse of situation by the end of the book. His excuse of not wanting to leave his parents ended up being useless because he did it anyway

• Otters in vests… otters in vests!

• I did like how Maas showed the fanaticism on both sides of the war. With the humans and Vanir. It showed how at this point, there’d be no winners to the war and that everyone would loose either way

• The relationship between Bryce and Hunt felt unbalanced to me. It felt as though Hunt was constantly sacrificing, giving up and ignoring his own feelings and thoughts about things to go along with what Bryce wanted and what she decided was the right thing to do. Bryce didn’t seem to really take his advice or opinion into consideration when making plans, and I felt like there was a distance between them because of this. Again, they clearly love each other. But a lot of things Hunt said to her, concerns he bought up, went ignored. And him having self doubt when Bryce went behind his back to arrange the Emile situation, really hurt, because eventually he would have come around and wanted to help her but instead he felt ostracised.

• The constant calling men ‘Alphaholes’ when they voiced their opinion, acted a little defensive of those they cared about or said anything against the female opinion felt like forced feminism. It really said gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss.

• Based on the cliffhangers I’m nervous with the direction Maas’ work is going to take. I love her books sm but if she try’s to bring even more characters/ plots into Crescent City’s, I think it’ll become to much/ too overwhelming. And there’ll begin to be more plots left unfinished or bought to unsatisfying conclusions.

i have many more opinions these are just some of the main things i had issue with, it does feel a bit like a fu to Bryce, but I really had issues with her in this book :(

HOSAB x ACOSF - Amren & Fury

The comment that Amren and Fury have a very similar look - has me thinking about the possible connection between these two characters. I suspect it might be a seed SJM planted to connect their origin story.

First Amren....

We know that Amren is a being from another world. Her species was created by young gods - and they served as the soldiers for these young (and vengeful) gods. When Amren revealed her true form at the end of the ACOTAR trilogy - she is described as a firey-being with wings. This description is similar to an "Old Testament" Angel. The insanely powerful and wrathful archangels that rain down sulfur and brimstone - and wipe out entire civilizations.

We know from CC2 that the Asteri created the angels...and that they went through several prototypes of powerful "winged warriors" before getting to the angels that we have in Crescent City today.

I speculate that Amren (and her brothers and sisters), were one of the angel prototype species that were created by the Asteri, when they ruled over another planet in the universe. They were likely a prototype to the powerful archangels that rule over Crescent City, today.

I also thought it was telling, when the IC first saw Bryce at the townhouse...and Amren (Amren!?!?) jumped out of her skin. This is really out of character for her. Amren is unflappable. She's old as Hel....she's seen it all. There is no reason why she should be startled by an unknown Fae Female (even if covered in blood), while the rest of the IC's reaction remains pretty chill.

I think Amren reacted the way she did because she scented the blood - and immediately recognized it as Angel Blood. A blood type that likely smells very similar to that of her own kind. It would be a shock to smell a blood type of a species that by all accounts doesn't exist in your world...and one you hadn't scented for over 15,000 years.

Now, Fury....

We know that Fury does work for the Asteri, but that she's also an Independent Agent. The Asteri don't really seem to be in full control of Fury. This means she's either got leverage on them or enough power that she scares them a bit.

TBH...I think it's a mix of both.

Fury's power is currently unknown. But the way it's referenced is very similar to that of Amren. While people don't know exactly what she is - they do know she's super powerful. It's also a level of power that makes other super-powerful characters wary enough of her.

I think it's possible that Fury is the same species/comes from the same origin world as Amren. She is one of these original "Old Testament" angels, that was created as a "warrior" for the Asteri. And similar to her "sister" Amren she fell through a portal into the world of CC - where she coincidentally bound herself in a very similar looking humanoid form so that she could function and operate within the social constructs of this new world.

I suspect that the Asteri and Fury both know what each other are.

Fury is well aware that the Asteri are the same deities/creator-gods/masters of her homeworld. This is likely why she works for them. There may still be a part of her that feels that is her duty. She was created to be their vengeful warrior.

However, this is also what gives Fury leverage on the Asteri in CC. She is one of the few people who knows what they are and what they're doing to the citizens of this world.

As for Fury's power....Amren, when released had enough power to wipe out whole armies. If provoked, I think Fury could cause permanent harm to the Asteri, likely even killing 1-2 of them, before they were able to put her down. I think the Asteri created this "Old Testament" Angel species with a dangerous amount of power - never thinking that they might turn that power against their creators.

I also like the idea of Fury having the fiery power of an "Old Testament" Angel - because of her promise to one day burn down the meat market, for June.
