HOLD UP HOW WAS I NOT AWARE OF THIS
Me when I found out I was ace
(I actually came up with this in the middle of the night when I was supposed to be asleep)
Today is the only day ever for the rest of time that you can reblog this
WE HAVE AN OFFICIAL DAY! April 6 will be the first ever International Asexuality Day! I’m so pleased to finally announce the birth of this amazing occasion. Myself and many other activists and ace organisations from across the world - have been working together on this for almost a year! I’m proud of what we have managed to accomplish. The day is designed to complement other ace events like Ace Week (the last week in October), but with a special emphasis on the international community, going beyond the English-speaking and Western sphere that has so far had the most coverage. The day can also serve as a focal point for giving asexuality some visibility in the first half of the year, useful for countries for which the end of October (Ace Week) is a difficult time of year for ace advocacy. To find out more information, please check out @iadofficial, the official website internationalasexualityday.org, or click the link in my bio! Let’s spread the word far and wide in preparation for April 6! 💜
repeat after me:
even if i don’t like my body today i will take care of it
even if i don’t like myself today i will still be patient and kind with myself
even if i do not love myself i will still take care of and be kind to myself, despite not wanting to
Asexual | LGBTQIA +/gay | aromantic | pansexual/romantic | bisexual/romantic | lesbian
“asexual? that’s for plants”
i’m not angry at being called a plant anymore.
you mean it to be horrible, i know. good for you, i guess. i don’t care.
compare me to the trees, the wind in the branches, and i’m thankful for it.
the covering of the ground up to the tops of the forest.
the leaves that swirl around, the roses, the daisies in your front yard.
the connotation of the colour green, a lucky four leaf clover.
seaweed and plankton on reefs in the ocean.
the basis of everything living in the world. the very incarnation of sunlight.
forgive me if i’m not offended;
but i rather like plants.
Can you do something for me, please?
I want you to reblog this if you believe that two people can be very close and physically affectionate with one another, but still have a completely nonsexual, non-romantic relationship.
Even if the two people in question are capable of being sexually or romantically attracted to one another.
Because the friendship I share with someone I consider family in a way that transcends blood has been typecast as a romantic relationship ENTIRELY too many times, and I’m beginning to get sick of it.

Yall, I just learned the coolest shit!
So everyone knows what a crush is, right?? When your romantically attracted to someone
And most people in the Ace/Aro communities knows what a squish is: When your platonically attracted to someone
I just learned that there’s more of these words!
Smush = sexual attraction
Swish = aesthetic attraction
Lush = sensual attraction
Idk why, but I’m so excited about these!
i can only draw one thing and that is blonde girl with ponytail flirting with cat girl with no ponytail
Just looked up the number of characters identified as asexual vs aromantic according to Wikipedia and oh man the numbers are really.... not a lot tbh:
59 asexual vs 19 aromantic
59 sounds like kinda a lot but when you think about how that’s spread over tv, film, animation, video games, literature, web comics, graphic novels etc its almost nothing.
And then only 19 aromantic characters, with only 1 of those listed NOT also identifying as asexual (aka 18 are asexual aromantic).
Obviously there might be more ace and aro characters than this, these numbers are just what’s listed on the respective Wikipedia pages, but either way the lack of ace and aro rep in the media is just not good enough.
Ace and aro people deserve to see themselves represented in the media.
Asexuality and aromanticism are not intrinsically linked, one can exist without the other.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
Are you questioning if you can be demiromantic because you’d be open to dating someone you don’t know?
Yeah, I was too.
But then I found a word for this.
Cupioromantic.
Cupioromantic is a micro-label used by some folks on the aro spectrum. It can be defined as someone who doesn’t experience romantic attraction but still desires a romantic relationship.
However, LGBTA Wiki additionally says cupioromantic “may also be used by people who sometimes feel romantic attraction but still desire a romantic relationship even without attraction, for example, a demiromantic person who dates someone before they feel attraction to them, possibly on the assumption that they will develop romantic attraction later on”. (emphasis added)
I wouldn’t feel romantic attraction when I first started dating someone. But if I found someone sexually attractive, I could see myself dating them due to the possibility of forming an emotional bond resulting in romantic attraction.
If you feel this way, you are not alone.
You could be cupioromantic, too.
