Heya!!
Today I revised all the topics I covered in Analysis 1 so far and did chapter 8 and 9.
Chapter 8 is about the algebra of limits. In there I learnt how to write proofs using ε-N method. There were quite a number of cases (with examples!).Most of them were good and could be deduced easily from previous theorems and axioms but I did find 4 proofs a little challenging.I have noted them down and I’ll be discussing those with my prof soon.
Chapter 9 was about monotonic sequences. In there I learnt about the monotonic sequence theorem and the proof of this theorem is very cute. This theorem's proof is very intresting because it connects to the theorem where square root of 2 is proved as irrational but it is more general. So it patches all the gaps on the real number line quit nicely. There were some examples too which I liked and I also learnt the steps of proving a theorem when monotonicity is involved.
It was a pretty cool day.
I hope you had a good day too^_^

You guys my Classical Myth: Epic and Tragedy teacher just gave me this blue eye necklace to ward off evil things and showed us her notebook from first grade where she wrote about Greek myths and I love her so much already

Hello 👋
It is currently 6.40 in the morning and I just finished doing my duolingo lessons.(I am learning French and about to complete check point one.If you know any good movies in French do let me know,I'm struggling to find some good stuff lol).
Today I want to complete the following stuff
Revise yesterday's work and do Group Theory(Important actions and applications)
Solve 10 Problems on Group Theory
Complete revising last week's maths and start revising last week's stats.
I wish a very wonderful day to you ❣ Happy, restful and productive! Don't overdo anything, health always comes first!!

Hello! The fact few days have been horrible, and have I mentioned that my dad has made me take two SAT practice tests each day since yesterday?!?!?!?! This is the price of meeting your parents’ expectations T-T so I’m almost done with the math section and ofc I decided to abandon it and make a new post because why not?
And college applications open in two days and as you would expect, I am an AnxiousWreck™️
30th July - What would be your perfect summer day?
Just lazing around upstairs with all the windows open with a glass of orange juice and a rice bowl next to me while I watch The Disastrous Life of Saiki K until the end of time ;-;
[3.48 pm]The piecewise functions that I didn't like can be solved easily using greens theorem (Happy dance ).The only condition is that the terms gotta be continuous and bounded.I did complete my targeted 20 problems a day but not at all satisfied with the topic. So I am going to do the same topic tomorrow again but I will find some different problems. It suuuuuuuccccckkkksss when you do problems and still need more problems to perfect the concept but I am going to be patient because everything will be just fine after a year.

[10.43 pm] I usually wind up with my studies by now but I haven't yet finished some of it. So I am going to sit for 30 more minutes and finish it all off and not push it to tomorrow. I was helping my friend with experimental values for a physics experiment. You know those scientific notations I always used to find them boring when I first learnt about them but now after actually using them so many times I have come to appreciate them very much. Those notations feel like these delicate things to me now. You gotta handle those notations with care and when you do it will give you get such an accurate answer.its just a very nice feeling to see it come together.

[11.45] I completed a chapter of real analysis 1 and a very small chapter in group theory.I wanted to do a bit of linear algebra but I changed my mind and so I am gonna do it tomorrow.

I just finished revising for group theory. It's about 5.30 in the evening and I thought I'd have it completed by 9 in the morning lol. So anyways now I plan on covering the following topics
Group acting on sets
Orbits and stabilizers
Revise maths and catch up with this week's work
Solve 10 problems on Group Theory
Wish me luck and I hope you are having a better day than me!❣

I had an exam yesterday, one more to go. it was the written part, so 12+ hours of solving problems, exhausting just like before. I completed all of them, but of course I am not sure if my solutions are correct, I will find out on monday. I'm proud of the progress I've made
right now I'm studying for the second part, so the theory-oriented one, I can barely focus because I've already learned those things and now I have to relearn them again
I'm trying to prove all the theorems on my own. partly to see how much I remember, partly to see how much I'm willing to improvize. as they say, if you're using too much memory then you're doing something wrong so I'm hoping to be able to come up with the proofs without memorizing anything new
my technique for studying the theory for the exam is to first test myself on how much I remember by trying to write everything down and note where I'm unsure or don't remember at all. then I read the textbooks starting from the worst topics up to the better ones. when I encounter a long complicated proof I am trying to break it down into steps and give each step a "title" or a short description
for instance, the Baer criterion featured in the photo has the following steps:
only do "extenstions on ideals to R→M ⇒ M injective"
define the poset of extenstions of A → M, A ⊆ B and a contrario suppose there is a maximal element ≠B
use the assumption to define an ideal and a submodule that contradicts the maximality of the extension
it is much easier to fill out the details than to remember the whole thing. this is probably the biggest skill I acquired this semester, next to downloading lecture notes pdfs of random professors I find online lmao
a friend suggested that I could make a post about tips for reading math textbooks and papers. as for papers, I don't have enough experience to give any tips, but I can share how I approach reading the books
a big news in my life is that I got a job. I will be a programmer and I start in march. at first I am going to use mostly python, but in the long run they will have me learn java. I'm excited and terrified at the same time, this semester is gonna kill me
A benefit of going to big conferences is that you get to learn about math concepts that would otherwise be outside your field. Such as
