Gabriel wasn’t quite sure he believed the other’s excuse, but he had not reason not to take Silas’ words at face value. The other really hadn’t lied to him before, so he didn’t think Silas would start to now. Frowning, even the lights of the carnival couldn’t distract Gabriel enough to focus on what was being said. “I guess…the rosemary tea. It reminds me of how my mother would make it.” He gave a half smile, pointing towards one of the booths, “You want a drink?”
“Definitely,” came from the incubus’ lips a little faster than he originally anticipated, but the exhaustion had him more than off beat. His usual filter that allowed him to actually think before speaking was a bit mangled and all the commotion had Silas’ sensory overloaded. Normally he didn’t drink much other than the occasional sake or cocktail when the moment called for it, charcoal hues bouncing to the booth before heading over with Gabriel, “You aren’t looking too hot yourself, what’s got you anxious?”

The walk from the Garden to Knick Knack was a familiar one, usually made monthly by a restless woman, looking to once again rearrange the things in her shop like it meant anything. It was something to keep her hands busy and her mind clear, at least.
What had caught her eye was a charcoal figure of a woman, faceless, with flowers at her feet. Melissa was drawn to figures of women, something she was sure Silas had picked up at this point. “Just the usual, apparently, Silas,” she called to him, looking over her shoulder at the familiar face. There was something about the quiet of the shop and of Silas that helped calm her normally buzzing mind. “Time to redecorate again. Things have been getting dull. How have you been here? I still offer my services to help you rearrange too if you like.” Really, she just wanted to poke around his things even more than she did as a customer. Silas felt a bit like a puzzle to her sometimes.
More often than not, Silas was one to refuse help when it came to such minimal things as his shop. He knew that it could use a more delicate touch, a fresh mind that hadn’t had to do the daily things that a shop like this required, but the cubi still refused. Melissa had become more than just a regular to him, but someone he actually enjoyed as far as company goes. She never seemed to pry for more information and was just generally curious about the life of each trinket before reaching its spot on the shelf. Maybe that was part of the reason Silas still refused. He hardly wanted to slip up on what he truly was, but a different feeling struck him. The feeling of being rude, the thought that it might be even stranger not to allow a kind offer. Especially when it had been given half a dozen times. “Things have been pleasant,” he answered casually, “Weather has been fairly forgiving during my hunts and I couldn’t really ask for more.” For a moment he skirted around the topic of rearranging, trying to find the right words to accept her offer without sounding at least a little desperate. “I can smell spring, which I assume is the direct cause of your own refresh? I suppose it couldn’t hurt to have a little help with my own.”

“I heard…that Tranquilitea is under the ownership of a shapeshifter who just really fucking likes tea. Then you have the witch at Anxietea who loves the magical brews that do a little more for the person that drinks it. Neither is really better in my opinion, but I’ve also had way too much fucking tea in my life time.” It took Gabriel a few more moments, but he placed his hand against Silas’s chest, “What’s wrong?” He noted the exhaustion that seemed to creep in from the other’s soul – the way he looked far more tired, almost like Kasandra had.
Waving a hand, Silas tried his best to ignore the topic of his own personal health. He had been on the brink of exhaustion all week and each moment the cubi finally made it into deep sleep, the usual nightmare routine would creep in. There was no way he wanted to talk about it fully, even with the look of pure concern hanging on Gabriel’s face and filling Silas with guilt. “Haven’t fully recovered from the Eidolon’s,” a white lie that he hoped didn’t show through given his current state and tried to change the subject back, “I like Anxietea’s Secret Tea Party blend with the rooibos. You can’t tell me you don’t have a favorite.”

“Hand wrapped? What a service.” Kiera smiled as she leaned over the boxes, considering her choice for a moment. Her aunt was an affectionate woman though, and so she quickly made her decision and pointed towards the box with the words on them. “I think I’ll take that one. I think she’ll love it.” She also liked reusing boxes such as this one, so Kiera was happy with her choice as she leaned against the counter. “Do you hand wrap everything you sell?”, she asked curiously, always interested in how other people handled their shops, whether they involved food or not.
“Yes, especially when I know it's a gift,” he replied as his hands fiddled with paper and bubble wrap. The sound made it a bit hard for the cubi’s softer voice to talk over, but managed to get the message across regardless. It was nice to get questioned on his work, even for something as simple as hand wrapping. It meant that someone was interested in more than what they wanted, curious about the workings of others. “You see what I do daily, how about yourself?” charcoal hues were still fixed on the task at hand, but was always interested in how his customer’s lived and their day to day life.

@silaskyun
Atlas sat pondering the vision he’d had the night of the murder, the woman with dark hair and dark eyes, the green scales that had trailed up and down her arms. The onslaught of spirits that had besieged the town, if there was no way of saving her that night, then why had the Gods sent him a vision of her entering the Temple? He wondered what use it all was, questioning things that he could quite clearly not control. The witch had wandered into a shop, doing what he could to distract himself when he saw the man standing not far from him now.
Atlas wasn’t sure why his intuition had brought him here, but Scylla had been at the forefront of his thoughts so the witch just spat the question out. “Hey, this might seem like a weird question but you haven’t seen a woman come in here in the last few days have you? - Uh, dark hair, dark eyes?” This was Corinth, Atlas had just described probably the majority of the female population. “I don’t know… She was a bit unique.” Scaled, for instance. “You’d remember her.”
A single eyebrow arose on Silas’s face at the question. It wasn’t as if there were a lot of people that came into his shop, but the list had already risen up to at least a dozen and the cubi wasn’t sure how to respond. The man before him looked flustered, words sounding a bit desperate and all Silas could do was give him a shrug. “Yeah, I mean—” the right words needed to be chosen in order to get more information from the stranger, “A few, but maybe you can give me a little more detail? Was she wearing something specific?”
Though through all the chatting, he couldn’t keep his mind off the scale in his pocket as if it was burning a hole. The cubi wanted to touch it, place his calloused hands upon the smooth emerald finish just to ensure it was still resting there. But if he went for it now, there was no way he wouldn’t seem suspicious and he begged his mind to stop thinking about it. “Maybe even a specific piece of jewelry?” which would have been something Silas had actually noticed given his line of work. Unique pieces to the mass-market objects, he enjoyed seeing what was on trend and being purchased.
kasandrarosales:
“Gabriel believes that it’s suicide. He made that rather clear in… not so many words.” He had apologized in his own way, yet the harshness of her closest confidante’s words still rang true within the succubus’ mind. Not due to the vitriol, but rather because they weren’t unfounded in their assertion. “I know him well enough that he will always be overly protective, it’s a two way street as they say. Which is why I would rather ask you.” Kasandra and Silas were decent friends, yet they did not keep one another in metaphorical bubbles like she did with the ancient incubus. “As an outside, third party friend, what would you give as advice to me about this shifter situation?” @silaskyun
Advice. It had been awhile since someone had actually come to him for that and it was hard not to look at Kasandra with a bit of surprise, onyx hues looking over her features for a read on her mood. “Are you sure you want to ask me?” the fellow cubi held a curious expression, along with all the classic signs of disbelief, “I mean, I think it's been well over two decades since the embers of my love life officially went out.” But that wasn’t the only factor throwing a wrench in the state of affairs that led to Gabriel’s reaction— the fact that it was a shifter had. Aphrodite could be so cruel, testing us to see how far one might go for a chance at love and be loved in return.

Alexandros + Poseidon
Alexandros: Have there ever been repercussions to your actions you regret?I absolutely regret not fighting for my sister, Ri-na. Not being able to protect her when she needed it the most and not fighting with the Japanese for taking her. I can only imagine what her fate turned out to be and I should have been right there with her. Most might expect it to be my transition, but I know I still would have done it all over again.
Poseidon: Have you ever been so consumed in a task that you lost the reasoning behind it?Often with my art, yes. Wondering if each of these pieces actually make a difference or if I’m just unable to completely let go of the past. Yet— well, I guess I still create so not all is lost.
