New Hazbin Hotel Au: Alastor and Niffty in Heaven

So basically this is an au where Lilith tries to redeem sinners, and uses Alastor as a Guiniee pig since she owns his soul. She makes a deal with Adam to get her and Alastor up to heaven and give them Angel forms.

Now where does Niffty come into this? Well her contract with Alastor is that he will protect her in exchange for her soul, and Alastor can’t exactly do that if he’s in heaven and she’s stuck in hell. So Niffty ends up roped into this as well and becomes an Angel.

So Lillith is chilling up in heaven for 5 years and is enjoying herself, but Alastor and Niffty HATE it there. It so different from hell and they know no one, they can’t talk to anyone they DO know because someone might find out they’re from hell (breaks the contract), and to top it all off they hate their new angel forms because they feel uncomfortable in them (this is because their redemption was forced, not natural).

So Alastor and Niffty hate being in Heaven and work together to figure out a way to escape. They force themselves to fall by cutting off their wings and shattering their halos before falling down to hell. Lillith is pissed that her plan didn’t work but remains in heaven due to her contract. Alastor and Niffty stay in hiding, slowly healing from their wounds and regain a more demonic form. Alastor attempts to release Niffty from her contract to her horror, but they end up settling on Alastor owing Niffty a favor of her choosing. (I’m also considering Alastor being freed from his contract with Lilith at this point)

A year passes by since they returned to hell, and it’s been seven whole years since they made an appearance in public. One day after the yearly extermination Niffty is watching the news and discovers that Charlie, Lilith’s daughter is also planning to redeem sinners now. Niffty is horrified by this and believes that this will end just as badly as Lilith’s plan did, and calls in her favor with Alastor to stop Charlie’s plan. Alastor decides to infiltrate it from the inside, and the events of the show/pilot happen, and all along Alastor and Niffty are trying to push Charlie into giving up her goal on redemption.

When the representation is so casual that you completely forget about it.

Say what you will about WoF, but I think it's worth something to have a series that features characters who are openly queer. We've got sapphic and gay couples. We've got non-binary characters. It's nice to have representation that feels so casual, like Blue and Luna having two moms. It's just nice all around I think

Last night's dream. If I have to experience this weed-induced acid trip, so do you.

Someone decided to commit a murder with poison to make it less likely to get caught. Poisoned the basket of apples, as you do. David ate one and within seconds went down dramatically in front of everyone.

Except instead of killing him, it did the Snow White "sleeping death" thing. He wasn't dead, he was just in a magic coma. MonoTV as usual made a mistake and instead of giving the class belladonna gave them whatever kind of poison that is.

The class spent 10 minutes staring at David collapsed on the floor trying to figure out what to do. He's not dead, so no trial, but he won't wake up either unless they can find his true love to kiss him. Whit made the obvious joke the true love was Xander who already bit the big one, "so RIP David, I guess."

The choices are either have everyone kiss David to see what happens (rejected by everyone for fear someone's kiss will be so rancid it kills David and makes that person the blackened), or commit to the bit, put him in a glass coffin, and let this nonsense cause chaos on the outside.

Last thing that happened before waking up was Teruko sitting bedside with David during the 3-6 business weeks it takes to get a glass coffin without help of Amazon, and talking about how her bad luck will have this reversed by the next trial. The universe will not let her catch a break and let a trial run smoothly, therefore David will be fine.

so this takes place in the weird alternate universe where Shadow Milk Cookie (Light Milk Cookie) is the Sage of Truth and Pure Vanilla Cookie (Tainted Vanilla Cookie) is the Truthless Recluse.

this universe was actually created when Pure Vanilla Cookie (the one from the original universe) attempted to break his soul Jam and subsequently awakened. The Soul Jam didn’t break completely, but a shard broke off, and when the Spire of Deceit crumbled, the shard fell into a pool from the Yogurt River, which created the Twisted Mirror, and subsequently, the universe that the Sage of Truth exists in.

Like in the original universe, Pure Vanilla and the other ancients meet each other, and become friends. But eventually, for various reasons, each of the ancients “corrupt” ( an example I came up with is that Dark Cacao Cookie cuts off everyone and isolates himself from the world, believing that caring about others will only lead to endless suffering). Pure Vanilla is forced to Witness his friends become worse versions of themselves, and he almost loses all hope, becoming Wilted Vanilla Cookie (to distinguish him with the original Pure Vanilla) that is until he learns of a peak said to hold the great Truth of Existence at the top. He decides to travel to this peak in hopes of learning why his friends are suffering and a way to fix things.

At the base of the Peak of Truth, Wilted Vanilla receives various warnings from the Cookies living there to turn back, as many Cookies have tried to reach the Peak and achieve enlightenment, but none have ever returned. Wilted Vanilla is undeterred, and starts his way up, when he meets another Cookie. A young cookie around his age named Light Milk Cookie. This Cookie has come to the peak to discover the truth as well, and while Wilted Vanilla initially declines the other of traveling together (he already ‘lost’ many of his friends, and he doesn’t want to risk growing attached to this cookie if the peak is really so dangerous) but he ends up traveling with Light Milk anyway.

the trek is very tiring, and takes many days to complete. Many times Light Milk and Wilted Vanilla come across Crumbled cookies and eventually realize- these cookies killed themselves. The revelation makes them consider turning back (why would these cookies kill themselves if the truth wasn’t terrible?) but they have come this far, and refuse to turn back now. They reach the top, and they discover, The Mirror of Absolute Truth.

Now, When a Cookie looks into the Mirror of Absolute Truth, they all know immediately that what they see is their true selves. And what do Wilted Vanilla and Light Milk Cookie see? They see Pure Vanilla Cookie (the Ancient of Truth) and Shadow Milk Cookie (the Beast of Deceit) looking back at them. As they look upon their true selves they realize the truth of their existence. That they are but twisted reflections of these Cookies. They know (vaguely) what they true selves have done. They fall into despair, questioning their own free will.

Wilted Vanilla and Light Milk Cookie consider crumbling themselves like the other Cookies, but Wilted Vanilla says that will not fix anything. Light Milk Cookie says they can’t just tell everyone the truth! Wilted Vanilla proposes another idea: one of them remains at the peak of Truth to guard it, and the other spreads misinformation in the world to dissuade Cookies from seeking out the Peak by teaching them the ‘truth’ and satisfying Cookies’ craving for knowledge. They decide on they roles and that’s how Wilted Vanilla, now Tainted Vanilla remains on the Peak of Truth and how Light Milk Cookie returns to Cookie kind.

However, Light Milk Cookie is overwhelmed by his burden of knowing the Truth, and eventually seeks a way for him to forget some of it. He casts a spell on himself that makes him forget his journey with Tainted Vanilla Cookie (he forgets their friendship) which rids himself of some of the more Painful truths. (He still somewhat ‘remembers’ them, but they’re too painful so he buries them away.) Eventually he begins to teach Cookies of the Truth, and becomes the Sage of Truth. He encourages Cookies to seek enlightenment and those cookies climb the Peak of Truth, where they are met with the Truthless Recluse.

Truthless Recluse eventually realizes that Light Milk Cookie is the one sending many Cookies up the Peak of Truth, and is deeply hurt by his friend’s betrayal. He becomes more aggressive in his protection of the peak, unleashing horrific illusions that drive some travelers to insanity. Truthless Recluse decides to never trust another Cookie again.

The Sage of Truth takes on two young Cookies as his Pupils, the somewhat childish but clever Tart Apple Cookie (Candy Apple Cookie) and the charming yet thoughtful Violet Sapphire Cookie (Black Sapphire Cookie). He encourages the two to peruse the Truth and joins them on their path up the Peak of Truth, where the Sage of Truth is forced to confront his past.

To this day, Arlecchino still recalls that night when she was first appointed as a Harbinger.

Up the stairs and down the long gallery, with naught to see through the windows but a world of ice and snow without end.

The biting wind wailed loudly, now as mirthful laughter, now as somber farewell—

With a start, Arlecchino came to, the hallucinations of her memory mingling with the sounds of real-life conversation that surrounded her.

The hearthfire burned with vigor, its gentle warmth pervading the room, and its red light glowed on the children's faces, lighting up their innocent, unaffected smiles. If some uninformed passerby were to stumble in at this precise moment, they would surely mistake the scene before them for that of an ordinary, happy family.

But just as Arlecchino raised her steaming cup to take a sip of scalding-hot black tea, the clock began to chime — and within an instant, the laughter and cheer that filled the room were banished. The flames flickered so that for a moment the light faltered, the faces of all present cast in somber expression.

Placing her cup back down, Arlecchino stood up, and in a calm, measured tone, called out several names:

"Chapleau, you're with Lyney. Retrieve the required intelligence. Foltz, you and Filliol are on guard duty. Stay back and tend to the Hearth..."

"Yes, 'Father.'"

Without a redundant syllable, nor a hint of hesitation, they answered as one.

Not long after, the fire had dwindled and the house fallen utterly silent, with nothing to be seen but a single shaft of infiltrating moonlight, peeking through a gap in the curtains upon a cup of gradually cooling tea.

if this did happen, I could imagine him eating demon flesh (presumably some that Nezuko donated), and Genya’s eyes permanently change into their demon form, black sclera and yellow iris. this of course would distress Genya, but eventually he would accept it and try to move on, (after a small break from training to recover from the shock of everything.).

meanwhile Sanemi has gotten punished for “attempting” (quotes because he did technically blind Genya, even if it was only temporary) to blind a fellow Demon Slayer and is shoving all his complex emotions away. Then he learns from Shinobu (she’s Genya’s doctor) that Genya has made a full recovery and has regained his vision (she doesn’t mention Genya’s eyes are different now)

Sanemi is initially shocked by what was supposed to be a career ending injury, but knows Genya’s quick recovery has something to do with him eating Demons. But no matter how hard he pushes, Shinobu won’t tell him anything (patient confidentiality) and he can’t ask Gyomei because the stone hashira is pissed at him. He can’t ask Genya himself because neither Genya nor Tanjiro are allowed near Sanemi, (an order that Sanemi suggested ironically.) So Sanemi doesn’t see Genya after this and therefor doesn’t immediately learn how Genya’s eyes have permanently turned to that of a demon. All because of Sanemi, his big brother.

how would Sanemi react if he saw Genya with his demon eyes after he blinded him?

This has been pointed out so so so so many times and yes while it’s fundamentally true that Gyomei could have trained him after this event happened, it’s also more than likely genya would have somehow consumed demon blood as fast as he could to regain his vision! Because while being blind and a demon slayer may work out just fine for Gyomei, Genya isn’t as gifted as him, not with physique, the lung capacity (asthmatic genya my beloved and also what reason else could be literally not be able to breathe correctly??). And not with decades of gaining his bearings and refining all his other senses to be able to fight demons once again.

So in truth, If Sanemi HAD blinded him and Genya hadn’t consumed demon blood and just healed naturally. It probably would have worked in completely rendering Genya useless for the demon slayer corps.

This is all just a big what-if though because Genya still probably would have regained his sight if he ate demons before and we don’t exactly know what characteristics a demon can keep from their human body and what won’t transfer over to their demon body. So a person born blind is probably blind as a demon and uses echo location like a bat to hunt humans but if you were Genya, in this scenario, you’d probably gain your vision back.

Semi related but when Shizu clawed at Genya’s face she was dangerously close to his eyes and I’ve been toying with an au where she actually hits his eyes and Sanemi can’t abandon him then aka which leads to one of my favorite au’s: spoiled Genya of the wind estate. Might become a fic:3
