I think that the action of Keith giving his father's vest to Shiro is such an intimate show of how close he considers Shiro to be to him and how much he trusts Shiro with such a fragile memory of his past 🥹🥹

*ALSO THE FACT THAT SHIRO WEARS THIS SAME VEST FOR LIKE 90% OF THE SHOW LIKE HE DEF HAS OTHER CLOTHING OPTIONS AT THAT POINT BUT HE DELIBERATELY CHOOSES TO WEAR THE VEST THAT KEITH GAVE HIM OVER AND OVER AGAIN AUGGHHH IM SICK

sometimes I wonder if Keith's belief in not leaving anyone behind (like how he rescued a member of the blade of mamora regardless of Kolivan's disapproval) stems from how his father died saving the people in that burning building despite being told not to go in there; Keith's father died an honourable death and was so impactful to him that he decided to live by his father's selfless way of life, even if it could result in him getting killed while trying to save others

Lauren said!!!! In the AfterBuzz interview!! That Keith would have gone to space for shiro, because Shiro was his family. This is so soft, so pure. I love Lauren so much, she didn't have to add that!! Name me a purer ship then Sheith, Leo, I'll wait. Impossible.

I heard about this and I just went skimming through the episode to find and!!! It’s so sweet!! They were talking about how Keith told Pidge, “Everyone has families,” and the show runners didn’t have to mention Keith’s relationship with Shiro. But they did, so we get:

Lauren: “But he would have come out to space for Shiro, cause Shiro was his family.

Joaquim: “That is true.”

Lauren: “So he understands, I think, as much as [Pidge] does, about needing to ‘save that person in space.’” (source)

And like, this combined with “Shiro loves Keith” and the fact that he brought Keith to the Kerberos launch with him, like…what the hell was their backstory? How is it they grew so close, close enough to have found a home with one another? It’s just…this incredibly sweet thing. They both love each other very much and it warms my heard indefinitely,, 

Anyway literally anytime Lauren or Joaquim bring up Keith and Shiro’s bond completely unprompted because they’re just that close in canon,, it’s fucking amazing,,

Star-Crossed Lovers

“Two lovers -often teenagers- doomed to be kept apart no matter how hard they struggle to be together. It may be Fate….or something as mundane as a few hundred miles separation, but something will always be in their way.”

First they were separated by the Kerberos Mission going wrong. For a whole year it was like this. (While Keith was alone he found those lion carvings that described some kind of arrival fated to happen that night…)

(With Keith not even expecting to find Shiro at the crash site.)

Then again in Across The Universe. Shiro and Keith fell onto that planet together, and at the last second their lions seemed to fling in opposite directions. (For some reason this one stands out to me for this trope. I mean, Hunk and Lance landed together, but why do these two always seem to be pulled apart?)

Shiro and Keith landed miles from each other. Then Keith ran to him and saved Shiro just in time, reuniting them once again.

Then in Blackout. After the fight against Zarkon Shiro doesn’t respond on the coms, his lion seems like it’s out of power. Keith is the first one there, running to Shiro…

But this time Shiro wasn’t there. Somehow disappearing. (In someway that hasn’t even been fully explained yet.) But then, because of the Black Lion sensing him (and Shiro being lucky enough to steal a ship), they finally find each other again.

Most of the things that keep them separated seems like really bad luck. It’s something that’s usually out of their control that keeps them apart. It happens again and again, and seems like it could keep happening.

(Note: Romeo and Juliet is a well known story with this trope. Very often Star-Crossed Lovers ends tragically with the Together in Death trope. I feel like it doesn’t always have to end that way though. (I’m just hoping for the best here.)  “Star-Crossed” meaning that the stars (destiny/fate) are against them. It certainly feels like something is always pulling these two apart.)

Shiro’s Keith vision

if you’re a sheith shipper and you want to think about the “i love you” line without also thinking about the “you’re my brother” line, that’s okay and ily. the brother line in no way should discourage you from shipping sheith, and it doesn’t devalue their relationship in any way, but it’s understandable if you feel uncomfortable about it for any reason, especially because it’s going to be considerable anti fodder until the s6 hype dies down. 

if you’re a sheith shipper and you want to think about the “i love you” line in relation to the “you’re my brother” line, that’s also okay and ily too. the line is a testament to how close they are, and context matters. keith is telling shiro how much he values him in a moment where shiro is vulnerable and obviously not acting like himself. it’s objectively a beautiful moment. it’s the strongest and most explicit declaration of love in the entire series, and it’s even more powerful considering it comes from keith who tends to struggle with vocalizing his emotions.

at the end of the day, do whatever makes you the most comfortable, but keith loves shiro. that’s not up for debate in any way, shape, or form. it’s a good night for all of us sheith shippers thank you very much.

Awakening feelings

Know what moves me to tears? Remember what Keith said in his vlog?

“I don’t know why I’m that way, maybe I’m naturally untrusting because my mom left, so instead of accepting people into my life, I push them before they reject me.”

And yet…there was one person he never truly pushed away.

And even after he found out about Shiro’s disease, he still let Shiro in enough that he sabotaged his future when PILOT ERROR happened and left to live BY HIMSELF in the desert because of Shiro’s disappearance.

And Shiro?

The man just got his heart broken by one of the most important people in his life, and he decided to bring Keith to the launch.

Like…that hits super hard for me. No matter what, they are there for each other. They have each other’s backs through thick and thin, life and death. And that’s just so heartwarming.
