the dissonance between “the public’s general knowledge of sonic the hedgehog” and “actual sonic the hedgehog canon” is SO funny. how many newcomers are surprised to hear about the game where he turns into a werewolf, only to find out it’s one of the most loved games in the franchise? do they know sonic has fought a god and won on multiple occasions? you wouldn’t bELIEVE how many people i got in the notes of my shadow backstory post saying “what do you MEAN shadow’s backstory, featured in one of the most well-renowned and beloved sonic games of all time, is just ‘fuck the military’ written across twenty pages???” somehow the only obscure thing everyone knows about is sonic underground but yet they don’t know about tails’s dead plant girlfriend
