"They taste disgusting."

Jimin huffs offended. "How dare you?"

"I'm just trying to protect our poor costumers from your weird creations."

"Mint chocolate donuts are not weird?! The people who don't like mint chocolate are the weird ones."

You watch Jimin place the nauseating donuts on the display, right next to some simple but very tasty looking dark chocolate donuts, decorated with cute sprinkles. Having the mint chocolate donuts next to them doesn't give them enough justice.

"I mean, they don't even look delicious with that ugly green mint glaze."

He stills for a second, the donut hanging in the air as he turns to you, indignation radiating off his body.

"Excuse you, but I've spent quite some time getting that glaze on these donuts and making them look perfect."

You giggle. "I'm sorry. I'm not doubting your glazing techniques, it's just that - the colour does not look appealing at all."

"This is a hate crime," Jimin mumbles under his breath.

You're chuckling on your way to the cash register when you see two elderly women appear.

"Good morning, how can I help you?" you beam.

"Good morning, dear. We just had a quick question," one of them says.

"Oh, sure."

"Now, I don't want to sound too nosy, but we've noticed something recently," she explains.

You raise your brows in curiosity, leaning a little closer because she started talking quieter, like she's about to tell you about the secret of the universe or something.

"The young, handsome looking man with the little baby girl hasn't been visiting anymore. We were curious to know if there was a reason why he no longer came by?"

Oh.

Well, that's certainly not what you had expected them to ask you.

A little baffled you answer, "Uh - he's, he's busy. That's why he hasn't been stopping by. Just, has a lot of work to do."

The granny nods. "What a pity. It sounds like he has a lot on his plate. Do you know how he is doing? Is he feeling fine? Healthy?"

"Yeah! He is doing good! He's perfectly fine and healthy."

"That's good to hear. We were just a little concerned about him because we haven't been seeing him around for a while." Both of them grant you a wide smile. "But now we know that nothing bad has happened," she continues. "And you as his girlfriend know best, don't you?"

If you had a drink, you'd be coughing it up by now.

"Jihye," the other woman, who had been quiet for the whole time, scolds her friend in a stern tone. "She is obviously with the handsome barista," she says, pointing her chin to the back.

You look over at Jimin, who's now away from the monster donuts he has created and standing in front of the coffee machine, waiting for the cup to get filled.

Turning back to them you clear your throat and state, "I don't have a boyfriend."

They both look like they didn't expect that answer and seem to be waiting for you to laugh and tell them that it was a joke and which one of them is your boyfriend.

They just smile politely after there's no further explanation from you.

Shortly after that, they leave the coffee shop.

They're cute, you think. Maybe a little - okay, probably more than a stranger should be - nosy. But it is kinda sweet to know that they've noticed Jungkook's absence.

You don't wait for an answer and slide your phone in your back pocket. Jungkook has been kinda bad at replying fast these days.

You find Jimin in the back room of the shop.

"Wanna know something?" you ask, leaning against the wall with a little smile playing on your lips.

Jimin turns to you. "What's up?"

"This granny just assumed that you and I were a couple."

Jimin chuckles. "You mean the two you were talking to earlier?"

You nod. "Yeah, and the other one thought I was Jungkook's girlfriend!"

Jimin tilts his head in confusion. "Is...is Jungkook here?"

"No, they were talking about him cause they wanted to know why he has been absent for a while."

"They noticed?"

"I mean, hot guy with a cute baby is a sight that I'd notice being gone as well," you shrug.

"What did you tell them?" he inquires, ignoring your words.

"Said that I have not boyfriend." You feel your phone vibrating, so you immediately pull it out but it's just a Instagram notification. "You know, sometimes I feel like Jungkook is being kinda absent because I was too harsh to him when we had our talk. Maybe that's why he's wary about asking me to look after Nabi? Because I was too mean?"

You don't know why you're suddenly talking about this, but you feel comfortable around Jimin.

"From what you told me, you had every right to be upset, y/n."

"But I was pretty though on him," you admit.

Jimin comes closer, taking your hands in his. "I don't know why he's acting all weird lately, but I'm sure he has his reasons and you shouldn't think too much about it in that pretty head of yours.

You sigh. "I guess you're right."

"Wait here for a sec," Jimin suddenly says. "I've got something for you."

Jimin leaves you for a moment and when he's back he's holding a donut.

Your squint your eyes, looking for a flaw.

"Don't worry, it has a vanilla glaze and cookie crumbs on it." He holds it out to you. "Made it for you."

"Thank you." You happily take a bite, moaning softly when you taste the sweet combination of the cookie crumb with the vanilla glaze.

You notice Jimin's stare on your lips after you swallow.

"You've got something on your mouth," he says, his thumb gently brushing over the corner of your mouth.

You like Jimin. He makes you feel good. And right now you'd die to feel his lips on yours. He looks far too good in his white-button down shirt, which fits a little tighter around his biceps, and black apron not to be kissed by you.

His thumb moves to your bottom lip, softly caressing his digit over it.

Jimin continues doing that for a few second until you run out of patience. "Oh my God," you roll your eyes. "Just kiss me."

He smirks and you pull him down by the nape of his neck, clashing your mouth on his. His plush lips always feel so soft and sweet and you could go the whole day kissing him. The way he is moving his mouth against yours makes you nearly drop the donut to the ground.

The kiss is a little messy. You don't know where the sudden need for each other came from, but you couldn't care less as Jimin moves his hands from your hips down to your ass.

A tiny whimper falls from you as Jimin nips on your bottom lip.

"There's no one at the service counter," you mumble between a kiss.

"We have Doyun," Jimin reminds you, now grabbing a handful of your butt with both his hands.

"I think he's outside cleaning the tables."

"Oh, fuck," he groans in annoyance, but he keeps his mouth on yours, moving it in a slow, languid fashion that has your knees weak.

You break the kiss but Jimin leans down one more time, pecking your mouth.

Before he leaves, he asks, "Wanna grab some food later and go to my place?"

You giggle. "Sure."

“You’re doing amazing, Jihoon.” you praise the little boy, patting the top of his head as you glance at his coloring book. The coloring is a little bit off, actually a lot, but you can’t really tell him that, can you? He seems to be encouraged by your praise, your heart beaming when he looks up at you and gives you a grin, his two front teeth missing.

You praise other kids at the table, somehow content how silent the room is. Well, apart from the occasional squeals, laughs and toys crashing down the floor every few seconds, but that’s just something you got used to very quickly. Now it’s just a noise you can listen to without having the need to go somewhere quiet. However, headaches make an occasional appearance once you get back home, the place empty from all the kids noises and their presence. You can’t say you hate it though, you actually miss them a lot.

You wouldn’t do this job if you didn’t like kids. And these particular amazing and cute kids that you get to see five days a week somehow sneaked their way into your heart, so you easily have grown attached to them. You could not see them for one week and feel like they’ve grown too quickly. Not for nothing people say you can see the real time passing by on kids. It’s true.
