“[Love] consists in this: that two solitudes protect and touch and greet each other.”

“All of this is typical girl-fear. Once you realize that The Exorcist is, essentially, the story of a 12-year-old who starts cussing, masturbating, and disobeying her mother—in other words, going through puberty—it becomes apparent to the feminist-minded viewer why two adult men are called in to slap her around for much of the third act. People are convinced that something spooky is going on with girls; that, once they reach a certain age, they lose their adorable innocence and start tapping into something powerful and forbidden. Little girls are sugar and spice, but women are just plain scary. And the moment a girl becomes a woman is the moment you fear her most. Which explains why the culture keeps telling this story.”

No there is no good fucking reason.
Some of you need to seriously consider how you talk about kids and teenagers, especially young females. You can’t call them foolish for making mistakes or oversensitive/overreactive and not think about what you’re projecting about yourself. Sorry Andi Mack, Elena Cañero-Reed, Riley Matthews, Julie Molina, Monse Finnie, Anne Shirley Cuthbert, Katara, Nini Salazar Roberts and every female protagonist of a TV show isn’t up to your impossible standards but they’re still kids (the hell most adults don’t have an inch of the emotional intelligence some of these characters have) and they are not supposed to be perfect. And if you really get down to it, most hated female characters are those of colour and then it truly hits you. Our society is so deeply rooted in misogyny and racism and it shows in such a painfully obvious fashion. Don’t say you don’t like her because she did X or Y, just say you’re racist and misogynistic and move on.

talk about yemen. talk about the 63,000 yemeni children that died of preventable causes. talk about how the UN dubbed it “ the world’s largest humanitarian crisis ”. talk about US’ major role in backing Saudi Arabia’s bombing. talk! talk! talk! this needs to get the deserved and much needed attention.
TARA BRAY, “LISTEN”
My ancestors, watching me dump an entire stick of cinnamon, two cloves, an allspice berry, and a generous grating of nutmeg into my tea, sweetened with white sugar and loaded with cream, while I sit in my clean warm house surrounded by books, 25+ outfits for different occasions, and 6 pairs of shoes, in a building heated so well I have the windows open in mid-autumn:
Our daughter prospers. We are proud of her. She has never labored in a field but knows riches we could not have imagined.
