“Sometimes in later summer I won’t touch anything, not the flowers, not the blackberries brimming in the thickets; I won’t drink from the pond; I won’t name the birds of the trees; I won’t whisper my own name. One morning, the fox came down the hill, glittering and confident, and didn’t see me—and I thought: so this is the world. I’m not in it. It is beautiful.”

For this Juneteenth, you can help a Black, bisexual & Muslim teacher stay safe!

Hi, my name is Az & you may follow my teaching anecdotes on my blog. If so, you know I am very open about being gay and Black in a very unsafe and dangerous, conservative area. My neighbors fly Gadsden flags (which are a crypto symbol of white supremacy) and two of them participated in the Capitol riots in January. My city has one of the 5 most dangerous and racist police forces in the entire USA.

Please help me build a privacy fence that locks to keep my senior dog and me safe. DM or send me an ask for any questions! There’s a longer story on my GFM if you’re interested. If you can’t donate to GFM, I’ll link my Kofi, venmo, and cashapp below. Thanks in advance for your help! ✊🏽🖤
