the punishment and crime are not the same.
"himiko, now that you have died, we've been bound together for eternity.
this suffering cannot be anything but love!
this suffering is the punishment for running away from you, you who pit your life on the line for love."
Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate: “Is this the man who shook the earth and made kingdoms tremble, the man who made the world a wilderness, who overthrew its cities and would not let his captives go home?” — Isaiah, 14:16-17

Drink the moment.
There is no time like your first.
I wish more people would talk about the parallels that exist between Jayce and Vi and why the writers had them interact the way they did. But instead most conversations devolve into “bookstreet”
Thank you so much for bringing that up, because I agree 100%. Look, I love the funny bookstreet memes and interactions as much as the next person, but that’s not ALL that their dynamic is and could be. And I feel like it doesn’t get talked about enough.
Both Vi and Jayce suffer from the pressure of expectations and needing to constantly be what everyone else needs.
Vi is the oldest sibling, the older sister. She had to protect everyone and if anything goes wrong or happens to one of her siblings, it’s on her. She has to shoulder all of that responsibility as the leader.
Jayce is the face of Hextech, the one who secured investors. If he does anything that messes up his reputation, it will be on him if Hextech doesn't get the funding it needs to continue.
It also feels that these two are both put on a pedestal by various other characters. Whether it’s Jinx kind of idealizing Vi in her memories to the point that she couldn’t accept the fact that Vi can care about someone outside of her. Or the public propping Jayce up as being the Golden Boy and idolizing him as the Man of Progress.
In season 1, Vi's goal was to find her sister (and save her from Silco) and Jayce's goal was to progress Hextech and protect the people around him (namely the city and Viktor).
They are parallels of each other. Both of them can be headstrong, especially when it comes to their ideals. Vi was headstrong when she got into fights and pushed back against authority and even pushed back against the Council. Jayce was headstrong when he spoke out during his trial about his theories of magic and the moments when he actually put his foot down.
Their goals are always centered around protecting other people. Both Vi and Jayce are people who want to protect and care for other people. Which allows them to fall into the pitfall of not prioritizing their own feelings and well-being and just keep moving forward with their goals. To the point where it is likely unhealthy for them.
Not to mention that both of them are characters who have good hearts that are constantly challenged by the world and the events around them. Good hearts are at almost never rewarded, and yet they keep on trying to do good and they keep moving forward.
"You have a good heart. Never lose it, no matter how the world tries to break you" - Vander
