Opinion on drogo and Daenerys?
i love the story of a girl who experiences unimaginable abuse and emerges victorious while the abuser is somehow just that irrelevant guy in her past, just a step towards her empowerment and nothing more. "if i look back i'm lost", i think it's a very radical and hopeful narrative.
attributing all failings of house targaryen to 'rot' they have inherited from their valyrian ancestors, to me, feels one metaphor away from interpreting generations of one family as ontologically predisposed to ruin. i understand the intent here is to speak of the general decline of their monarchical power, but dynastic declines don't happen in a vacuum because of there being something specifically, inherently wrong with one family. they're all actors within a violently misogynistic, feudal society. this obviously isn't an extraordinary observation, and discussions involving other noble houses get this, yet when it comes to the targaryens everything has to be chalked up to 'valyrian supremacy'. sorry but i don't think this achieves anything beyond simply moralising their behaviour in itself without recognising how it has been influenced and enabled by westerosi society.
I would like to introduce myself again😃…
But I was forced, along with my family, to flee south😣,
leaving behind my home🫀, memories😔, and the workplace 😓that held so many beautiful recollections with my colleagues.😞
This war has affected us deeply, destroying us internally and exhausting us physically😩, mentally😓, and financially😢.
That beautiful home held the memories of my childhood🧡, cherished days with my siblings, family, and the warm, joyful gatherings that are now nothing but echoes.💛💚💙❤
Today, I am displaced in the city of Deir al-Balah, 😔
It doesn’t protect us from the heat of summer😪 or the cold of winter😫.
Yet, this hasn’t stopped me from fulfilling my duty✋, both humanitarian and moral, to serve my patients🤟💛.
I have not left them even for a day, not hesitating for a moment to provide care, whether at the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa Hospital 🩸or the European Hospital.🩺
I deeply feel the suffering of these patients🥺, who have lost everything and have only their health left to cling to😥.
I only wish that this nightmare would end🥺🙏💜.
After an entire year of this devastation, all that remains for me is my small family🙏💐,
and my hope is to protect them from the ravages of this war and to live in peace and safety—perhaps even far from this land🥺❤.
I humbly ask for your help in any way possible🙏💜🖤.
Thank you.💚

If I hadn’t read the books/watched the show- I would genuinely think Alicent was a tortured small folk girl and not the daughter of the second most powerful man in the realm who hailed from one of the most ancient, wealthiest and powerful houses of nobility in Westeros who control the citadel and faith of the seven and then went to marry the king during a time of peace and prosperity and then went on to actively rule in his stead for years because he was too sick to do so himself.
But if alicent stans actually acknowledged all of that, they wouldn’t be able to chronically victimise her
Lmaoooo anon, that's literally so true😭😭 They act like she was picked up off the street with no family, no influence, no money. Like that girl was the daughter of the second most powerful man in the realm.
Yeah, in the the show, she was initially left with little choice, like before she married Viserys. But, she still is more privileged than almost everyone currently in ASOIAF. She's rich, has power, she can literally attack the heir to the throne with no consequences! That girl activity chooses to be a victim after the time skip.
To her stans though, she may as well be an impoverished saint.
A war being mutually destructive and devastating =/= both sides being equally in the wrong. The Dance progressed to a point that victory couldn't be anything but phyrric and the two factions came undone yet that doesn't preclude us from identifying the agressor and the victim. Who drove the realm to war by contesting the claim of the named heir, by explicitly going against the will of the monarch, by holding their coup in the dead of night and leaving the king's body to rot in order to preserve secrecy ? By murdering a prince under the peace banner, by allowing and applauding treachery and oathbreaking ? Intent matters. Acknowledging that conflicts aren't always a result of some inherent moral wrongness on both sides despite how the toll of war may deteriorate the participants also matters. The original will and motivation of the people involved is not made meaningless by the cost and evil of war. In the end, that's what's worth remembering.
Edit: Anon lifted @desaretaa’s twitter thread about this.
Exactly.
If that wasn’t enough, GRRM made it obvious in the story as the Greens' bloodline went extinct when Aegon II was killed, but not the Blacks'. Viserys II, son of Rhaenyra and Daemon, was succeeded by his son Aegon IV. Aegon IV was succeeded by his son Daeron II. Daeron II was succeeded by his son Aerys I. Aerys I was succeeded by his brother Maekar. Maekar was succeeded by his son Aegon V. Aegon V was succeeded by his son Jaeherys II. Jaeherys II was succeeded by his son Aerys II, who had a daughter with Rhaella named Daenerys Targaryen. Dany is Nyra’s descendant. It’s not a coincidence, there’s a message here guys about the fact Rhaenyra’s bloodline is still alive in the ASOIAF novels.
that time when sansa & arya didn’t give a fuck about joffrey’s death because their big brother was dead too.
