what if Camilo and Y/N where in a secret relationship due to Y/N's family being..well shit...Wondering how long they keep doing this Y/N starts getting doubtful and scared about their relationship and the what-ifs..and while trying the reassure her Camilo gives a them a promise ring and talks about how he is this for the long haul and doesn't care how long they have to stay hidden....thing is the madrigals saw the whole thing unfold.

NO MATTER WHAT.

There was only one rule you and Camilo had in your relationship, and that was to keep it a secret. Especially from your family. Because for some reason, they seemed jealous of the Madrigals. No matter what happened, they'd always tell you to stay away from them. Imagine how furious they'd get if they found out you were dating one of them. Camilo, of course, respected this. In fact, he didn't seem to mind that you had to keep this relationship of yours hidden. "A little privacy would never hurt anybody, you know?" is what he'd always tell you. Still, despite his reassurances, you couldn't help but feel a little doubtful.

Your shoulders slumped, a serious expression seen on your face as you dragged yourself to a certain spot, checking behind you once in a while to make sure that there was nobody following you. Looking around, you quickly spot a curly haired boy, dressed in yellow. He opens his arms out for you and you waste no time rushing in to hug him, burying your face into his neck. "Rough day, mi vida?" The sigh that escapes you is enough to tell him what your response is. "Do you want to talk about it?" You mumble something incoherently before lifting your head up. "It's just my family... again." Camilo releases you before sitting on the grass, beckoning you to do the same. You position yourself next to him, resting your head on his shoulder. "I don't know what to do, Camilo... they caught me talking to Mirabel earlier, and I was only apologizing because I bumped into her, but when I got home... they started yelling really hurtful words at me, calling me dirty for coming into contact with her." Camilo scoffs, wrapping an arm around your waist to pull you closer. "Did they even let you explain yourself?" He asks and you shake your head. "They didn't! I tried, but they only called me disrespectful and threatened to ground me for wanting to explain myself!" You press your palms into your eyes, "I don't know what they have against you guys... I wish it didn't have to be like this." Camilo removes the arm around your waist, turning to face you. "I'm sorry that it has to be like this, that you— we have to keep this a secret from everyone." He gently grabs your hands, taking it away from your face. "Hey, you don't have to apologize for anything... Besides, I told you haven't I? A little privacy wouldn't hurt anybody. I love you and I don't need everybody to know about it just to prove it to you." A small blush spreads across your cheeks, but you refuse to look him in the eyes.

"I know, you say that everytime... but I still can't help it, Camilo. What if one day you get tired of this? Of me? Or what if you find someone else? Someone who you could show off so proudly to the whole world? What if you fall out of love with—"

Before you could even finish the sentence, your lover crashes his lips against yours, effectively shutting you up. Your eyes widen in surprise and he pulls away before you could even return the kiss, leaving you feeling a little disappointed. "Listen, corazón... I love you and all, but you must be going insane if you think I'd find someone better than you." Camilo gently cups your face, pressing his forehead against yours. "I'm yours and will always be yours. No matter what happens, we'll go through it together." He places quick kiss on your nose. "So you better get yourself ready, mi amor, because you're never ever getting rid of me." A grin appears on his lips as he places a brief kiss to your lips before letting you go. "And I'll prove it to you with this!"

Camilo shoves his hand in his pocket, taking something from it before pulling it out. He takes your hand in his and slipping a ring to your finger, bringing the back of your hand to his lips afterwards. You let out a quiet gasp at this. "Camilo, I— This is..." What should you even say to this? You were left speechless. "It's a promise ring. A reminder that I will always be with you. My heart belongs to you, and no one else's. It doesn't matter to me if we have to spend the rest of our lives hiding this relationship, as long as I'm with you, I'll be happy. You make me happy, (name)."

God, what did you do to deserve this boy? You couldn't help but get emotional at his words, the tears welling up in your eyes. "If that's not enough to convince you then..." He pauses to look at you, a smirk forming on his lips. Before you could even react, he wraps his arms around you, smothering your face with his kisses. A giggle escapes you as you try to push him off. "Alright— Okay! Camilo, I get it already! I love you too!"

After a few more pecks to your cheek, he finally stops, chuckling at how red your entire face is. You pinch his cheeks as he laughs, pulling your hand off.

You spend a few more seconds laughing with each other before he goes completely silent, the smile on his face dropping as he looks at something behind you. Worried, you turn around to see what he saw.

It was his family. His entire family.

His parents were smiling widely, a rainbow above his mama's head. His sister was whispering something to her cousins, and you don't miss the way they smirk.

A rush of embarrassment takes over you, your lover silently curses. You and Camilo better get ready, because you both are in for a lot of teasing.

this had been the topic of conversation for the past 20 minutes, the woman beside you old enough to be your mother sporting a pink bikini with large sunglasses and a floppy sun hat. 

you can’t even lie in saying your eyes widened upon seeing her walk through the front door this morning, not because she looked awful but because it’s an…odd choice for a woman of her age.

“she’s too nice to say you look like an absolute fool,” your aunt says, the annoyance and disgust in her tone causing you to suppress a giggle. “now help me with these chairs.”

you listen to the women banter back and forth as you three make your way down to the beach, the late morning sun warming your skin as the crashing waves come into view. it’s the sounds you woke to this morning, your open window welcoming the salty breeze and squawking of seagulls.

it’s such a difference to the way you’re usually woken up, screams from your mother or your father’s fist slamming on your door that immediately fills the pit of your stomach with dread and anxiety. it’s an exhausting thing to live that way, constantly on edge and fearful that one tiny thing is gonna set someone off.

Well, well, well, will you look at that? It’s Pride again.
