encounter with an angel
this contrapuntal blew up and the people have spoken so here have another one
*throws with every ounce of strength but somehow lands only two feet away*
the fact that sex played such a huge role in Mickey 17 isn't just a fun hot little addition to a good movie about antifascism - it's intrinsic.
They want your sexuality repressed unless you're procreating the "right kind" of babies.
Nasha wants Mickey to be able to grow old with her so that she can suck him off for the rest of her god damned life. Nasha wants to know the name of every sexual position so intimately that her sopping wet boyfriend and her can use the names as a secret code in public. Nasha wants to have sex to feel ALIVE and full of joy. Nasha is going to break federal law to have a threesome with her boyfriend and his clone and she's gonna be high as a fucking kite when she does it. Sexual expression IS resisting fascism because the joy of fucking connects us and gives us something to fight for. Nasha is a hero and her sexuality is intrinsic to it.
kids used to bully her in school for being too pretty, they chased her around yelling âpretty face, pretty faceâ
i finished this pretty princess and added colour, itâs super different from my usual style but iâm very proud of it:)
fallen angel gang! I love these two and need more of them together
"While it's well known that Pattinson plays multiple versions of Mickey due to the cloning process, what many don't realize is that director Bong Joon-ho insisted on filming certain key scenes without Pattinson knowing which version of Mickey he was playing until just before shooting. This method was meant to capture the confusion and existential dread of a clone struggling with his own identity, leading to some of the film's most unsettling and raw performances." Mickey 17 (2025) dir. Bong Joon Ho
Yes, I spent the whole night finishing this. I was this desperate to see them hugđ§ââď¸
(Canât wait to put pope yaoi into my portfolio)
yeah, iâm late to the bandwagon. i saw the pilot when i came out, was fiercely praying for the rest of it, but fell out of love with the fandom tbh for a while. but itâs good to be back on the air!
solid 7/10 show. very fun to watch, enjoyable characters and musical numbers, and compelling visuals. misc observations below the cut; some of it will be critique, some of it analysis.
i really liked zestial but the writers switched between thou/you so inconsistently and even incorrectly
carmilla was a compelling character, but i donât think they can give her that moral code and also make her an arms dealer. why wouldnât she want war? why wouldnât she want to sell the only weapons that can aid demons in this war? âi need to protect my familyâ wasnât enough of a motivation for me. they couldâve easily given her a different profession and it wouldâve made perfect sense. i also didnât like her hands.
favorite characters: alastor, vox, lucifer, charlie
least favorite characters: cherri bomb and,,, im sorry,, angel dust
favorite/least favorite status comes from how interesting or annoying they were for me to watch, not which ones were the most sympathetic (i thought angel was quite sympathetic, just poorly written)
angel mostly just got on my nerves in the first half of the show because every bit of dialogue was either a sex joke or exposition about his trauma and why he is the way he is. but mostly just talking about sex. and they gave him jack shit to do in the second half of the season. i think conceptually heâs a great character but in execution thereâs not a lot of depth to him; they need to give him a personality beyond his profession imo
alastorâs best moments came âseeing him in actionâ like in his songs and the scary animation moments (those were soo good). i also really liked the cannibalism town scenes with rosie. i often thought his dialogue was lacking and they sometimes didnât do a great job separating things he would say from generic things any âvivziepop characterâ would say (âiâm going to fucking kill youâ or whatever he said to adam)
charlie could be grating at times but i feel like all in all she was a solid and sympathetic protagonist and kept me rooting for her the entire time
one aspect i really really liked is the fact that no one knows what gets souls into heaven. i think thatâs a good way for covering the lack of a cohesive standard of moral degeneracy in hellâmost people just drink, fuck, and do drugs. the murderers and cannibals make sense, val makes sense, etc, but most actual characters in hazbin and helluva boss seem to have an inherent understanding of right and wrong that is quite standard. i really hope the criteria for salvation is explored furtherâis it conservative christian values? is it something else? is it predestination? is it haphazard? this is really really interesting to me!!!
furthermore, the fact that sir pentious died and went to heaven is obviously a sign in charlieâs favor that redemption is possible, which paints hell as more of a purgatory or even âsecond earthâ than a traditional christian hell. i wonder what god/jesus will be like in the hellaverse. iâm half predicting a sort of wizard of oz situation
my only other theory is that by the end of the show a shift will have occurred from charlie focusing on reforming souls to get into heaven and instead on reforming souls and hell itself to be a better place
now usually when i say i want a character biblically i mean, well, fucking; HOWEVER in the case of Thomas Lawrence needing him biblically means needing to see him suffer 1001 times đ
mickey 17 was so good robert pattinson loves to play a wet little freak and do a silly voice and god bless him for it
