a.n. - oh my gosh this request was too cute, I loved writing this way more than I should have. I tried using a lot of improper grammer to try and make this fight more realistic as possible so I hope it doesn’t come off as annoying.

Your head was pounding, and the high-pitched pop songs blaring in the pharmacy only made things worse. You had originally gone in just to pick up your migraine medicine, but you couldn’t resist the various sweets displayed on the shelves. Now you didn’t have much of a sweet tooth, but you knew Kenma did. Sweets seemed to be the only thing he’d eat, willingly at least.

You smiled, the pain of your migraine being momentarily forgotten as you visualized Kenma’s reaction in your head. You knew he’d be happy to receive something sweet, especially the mini apple pies you were eyeing. Grabbing four boxes of the tiny sweets and a chocolate bar for yourself, you headed to the register, shooting Kenma a quick text saying you’d be over soon.

You migraine had only gotten worse as you walked the familiar streets, your blurred vision landing on the Kozume’s familiar house. As you approached the door, a sharp pain erupted in your head. Fumbling with the spare key Kenma’s mom gave you, you stumbled into the house, headed straight for the kitchen. Taking out your pills from the pharmacy, you popped two in your mouth and grabbed a cup from the cupboard, filling it up with water and swallowing the medicine down. 

You took one last breath to try and distract yourself from the pain before making your way towards Kenma’s room. You slowly opened the door to find Kenma draped in his blankets, some fighting game displayed on the screen in front of him. Sprawled out on his bed was Kuroo, his expression bored as he scrolled through his phone. As you stepped into the room, Kuroo’s face lit up, flashing you a toothy grin. 

“Morning sleeping beauty, I see your bed head survived this exhilarating sleep over,” you joked, your lips turning upwards in a playful smile. Your eyes flickered over to your boyfriends tiny frame, the clicking of his controller being the only indication he was alive. “He been up all night?”

“You know it, I tried to stay up too but I gave up around, like, 2.” Kuroo placed his phone on the nightstand, stretching once before sitting up. “What’s in the bag?”

“Nothing for you,” you stated, setting the plastic bag down on the end of Kenma’s bed. Kuroo’s mouth was agape as he sputtered out nonsense, feigning offence.

You shrugged your shoulders before making your way towards Kenma, his eyes still glued to the screen. “What you up to, booboo?” 

Nothing.

“Hellooo,” you drawled out, trying to get his attention.

Nope.

You turned back towards the bag, pulling out the miniature apple pies and holding them out towards his face. 

Nothing, again.

“Kenma,” you called out, your voice becoming sharp as your head started pounding once more. The annoyance you felt only doubling the pain.

“Oh my god, what?” He said, turning to face you. His gaze was tired yet angry. It’s clear his lack of sleep was making him angrier than usual. Normally, you knew this and you wouldn’t take anything personally, but the migraine you’ve had for nearly five hours was messing with your thought process. And if Kenma was angry, you’d get angry too.

“Oh my fucking god, Kenma. What the fuck is up your ass today? I come over after not seeing you for, what, almost a week and the first thing you do is get snippy with me?“ Kenma drops his controller, his golden eyes widening as shock manipulates his expression.

"Is this a fight?” He asks slowly, his voice shaking slightly. He glanced towards Kuroo who’s face held the same shocked expression. “Are we fighting?”

“I think so,” you said, his eyes meeting yours once more. “Well, maybe not cause you’re not really, like, engaging in it. I think I’m more, like, complaining but with anger. But, I, I just don’t understand Kenma. When we first started dating I didn’t expect you to stop gaming all together, y'know. But I kind of hoped you’d, like, set aside some time for me.

"You game every chance you get and usually I’m okay with it, I like chilling with you, watching you play. But I haven’t seen you, like, a week because you’ve been cooped up in here forever. So I was expecting to come in and at least get a ‘hi y/n what’re you doing? How you feeling?’ But instead I get some attitude cause you’re not fucking sleeping like you should be and it makes me mad.”

Kuroo coughed awkwardly, his eyes flickering between you and a very timid looking Kenma.

“There!” You yelled out, throwing the pies on the bed. “I fucking said it! It makes me mad. I like you a lot, Kenma. And I know you like me too and I know you have trouble showing it sometimes. And I know that I’m probably bitching over nothing but sometimes I just wish you’d just act all lovey dovey around me. I want you to hold my hand or tell me I look pretty, and I know it’s hard for you to do that but this is hard for me! It’s hard for me to keep pushing down and ignoring how it makes me feel.

"So I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable or upset but I can’t keep hiding how I feel anymore. I’m sorry.”

Silence.

You grabbed the plastic bag off of the bed, it’s only contents being your pills, the chocolate bar, and your keys. With one last 'Sorry’ you left the room, your eyes wide with either anger or sadness, you didn’t know. You walked towards the front door, the sound of footsteps running through the hall and down the stairs making you rush out.

Maybe it’s because you were angry, or maybe it’s because you were petty and wanted him to chase after you. But either way you speed walked away from the house, your face flushed.

“Y/N wait, please.” His voice called out, you heard his footsteps approaching, quickly. He was running. It made you feel a bit happier, a bit better, knowing that Kenma - a boy who hates running - would chase after you. As cliche as it seemed, you liked it. It made you feel special.

“Y/N please,” he said softly, grabbing your arm and turning you around to face him. “Please.”

“I’m sorry,” you whispered, the familiar ache of sadness welling up inside you.

“No, don’t be sorry.” He placed a hand on your cheek, his tired, bloodshot eyes gazing into yours. “I’m sorry for making you feel like that, I care about you a lot and I guess I just thought you were okay with everything.”

You looked away from him, tears accumulating in your eyes.

“Hey,” he whispered, his other hand releasing your arm and grabbing your other cheek. Your eyes met once more. “You look really pretty.”

A small laugh escaped your lips as you hugged him, his arms engulfing you, making you feel loved.

“I mean it,” he breathed out.

“Stop it, I’m still mad at you.”

“No you’re not! You’re laughing!”

“That doesn’t mean I can’t still be mad.”

You smiled.
