I still can't get over how much I love the fact that The Batman didn't have Batman disguise his voice when in the suit. I know the choice was a practical one (and I'm glad Matt Reeves made that decision), but I also absolutely LOVE the way it aligns with this particular iteration of Bruce. This is a Bruce who is PHENOMENALLY uncomfortable in his own skin and his identity as Bruce Wayne. He's a reclusive, mentally ill, highly traumatized man who's extremely uncomfortable in every social interaction he has to endure as Bruce, and we can see that in every aspect of his presence. He's hunched, barely makes eye contact, and just generally gives the sense that he's trying his hardest to sink into the floor.
He's completely different as Batman. There's a confidence and physicality to his presence- he takes up undeniable space in an unapologetic way. Bruce is comfortable as Batman in a way that he isn't as Bruce Wayne. He's still quiet and soft-spoken, and the biggest change in his voice is that it's MAYBE a little deeper at times- otherwise it's just his regular speaking voice. It doesn't matter though because his physical presence is so vastly different as Batman compared to Bruce Wayne that he feels like a completely different person even with the same voice. Pattison's command over his physical presence in and out of the suit is masterful enough that even we as the audience get the sense that these are two different people despite KNOWING that Batman and Bruce Wayne are the same person.
More than that, I think letting Batman have the same quiet voice as Bruce actually ADDS to his physical presence. He's quiet and soft-spoken but he is goddamn THERE and his presence can't be ignored. It really highlights the comfort and confidence Bruce feels as Batman that he very painfully does NOT feel as Bruce Wayne, and I absolutely LOVE that we get to have this contrast. Props to Matt Reeves for making that decision and mega props to Robert Pattinson for being able to convey it all so well
if i’m okay with it then yea
aros you're marrying for tax benefits i just want to know the general consensus on whether this is okay or no cause i heard some people at work talking about it like it was a cardinal sin
Bruce, for the record, is absolutely stoked when Jason brings Roy around.
Because this now means that he is a grandpa. He is so ready to be a grandpa. Let him be a grandpa. Please please please please-
(finally, he gets to just give things to someone. anything they want. (finally, he gets to give Jason so much money and things and Jason can't say no because they are for Lian too))
The thing is, now he is in a very deep and serious rivalry with Oliver, who will not be replaced as the number one grandpa. Absolutely not. So now they are waging war on each other for Lian's affections.
It's messy and it's bloody.
One day, during a JLA meeting, Green Arrow notices something peeking from underneath Batman's suit. It's colorful, so it stands starkly against the dark suit. It looks very familiar.
Green Arrow looks down on his hands. At the friendship bracelet Lian had made for him. He looks back up at Batman and the very familiar colorful thing he has on him.
"What is that?" He asks.
Batman turns to look at him. He follows Green Arrow's gaze, and looks at the colorful thing on him, and then at the bracelet on Green Arrow's wrist.
"What is that?" Batman asks, nodding at the bracelet.
"I asked you first."
"I asked you second."
Green Arrow glares at Batman.
"It's a friendship bracelet my granddaughter made for me", he says.
Batman glares at Green Arrow.
"And this is a friendship bracelet my granddaughter made for me", he says.
They glare at each other. The meeting room has become several degrees colder. No one dares to utter a word.
Then they both pull out their phones and make a call.
"Jason-"
"Roy-"
Jason and Roy, in their bed, both realising that their dad's are calling them at the same time: fuck whatever it is, we're going back to sleep
You know how camp counsellors (this may just be my experience come to think of it) are always from the wildest, most unexpected parts of the planet? I think it's deeply fitting that Dick Grayson was a camp counsellor, because his backstory as formerly being part of a travelling circus then predominantly growing up in the most crime-ridden city in the world would be hilarious as part of an ice breaker activity.
I think we’re not fully utilising Dick’s potential for fuckery. This mean was raised in a circus. Surrounded by trapeze artists. And wild animals. What makes you think he has any regard for safety or self preservation?
So I like to think that sometimes, just sometimes there’s a switch that flips inside him and instead of being mature and practical about the system he lets his intrusive feral child win.
Two-face: Heads or tails little bird. Heads, I kill you. Tails, I surrender.
*flips coin*
Nightwing *throws his escrema stick and it hits the coin which lands in his palm*
Nightwing: Hey Harvey. If I flip it around in my hands I can change the outcome of this
Two-face: .. wait-
Nightwing *flipping his hand around with the coin inside* : Say why don’t we make it more interesting?
*takes out three more coins and puts them all in his palm before switching them around a bit*
Two-face: oh.. no..
*Red Hood and Red Robin watching in horror*
Red robin: .. should we.. should we stop him
Red hood *remembering when a villain knocked away Dick’s weapons and told him if he could draw blood without landing a hit on him he’d tell his army to stop and Dick didn’t wait a second before biting the fucker’s neck and taking a good chunk out of it*
Red hood: he’ll be fine.
The Batfamily, by proxy of being raised by Bruce (undercover pro, lies every other word) and Alfred (actor in another life and in possession of the world’s blankest poker face), are probably the best at just running with something (a con, a secret identity, an undercover job, etc) and acting it out 100% believably. With zero hesitation.
Someone runs up to Red Hood one night in an alley and says “pretend to be my boyfriend! please, he’s following me!” and suddenly that’s not Jason Todd, Crime Lord. That’s Todd from the upper east side, and what the fuck man? leave her alone, you’re fucking tripping!
Etc etc.
A fanfic idea:
Bruce was able to rescue Jason before he died, and after this experience, Jason stopped being Robin.
He became afterwards the golden child, he goes to college (with a scholarship), helps out in the city library, teaches children (helps with their homeworks and helps them to study), works part time in a car garage in crime alley, and is a supportive brother.
And it pisses his siblings off.
Because there has to be something fishy because no one, really no one, is that perfect.
And there is something fishy.
He is also Red Hood.
No one knows, and the vigilantes never talk to Jason about "the family business" because he needs to concentrate on his studies and other stuff.
So imagine, Batmans suprise when the JL was able to catch Red Hood.
Someone takes Jasons helmet off in front of Batman, Nightwing, and other members
And Jason, who wears also a domino mask, doesn't look Batman in the face even as he says :
"Hey Dad. I can explain."
And Dick loses his shit, he laughs so hard because, Jason, The golden child, the one who gave up on being a vigilante, who reads to children in the library, is a goddamn crimelord.
Bruce just stands there frozen because wtf Jason?!
And Dick takes selfies with Jason being tied up and calles the other Batkids in because they should definitely not be left out of it.
(Edit: As someone who doesn't really write (or can write good stories), I want to say, feel free to use this prompt for a fanfiction. Just please give credits to me (because I don't know if someone else had also this idea and posted it) and please inform me if you publish something (because I want to read a fanfiction like this too))
I see alot of posts about Tim's missing spleen and the batfams reaction to it but has anyone considered the much funnier options of Bruce, being an invasive psycho dad, doing some scan of his children finding out about his missing spleen and getting it back/replicating a new one. Like
Tim *bored and wanting to get a rise out of bruce*: the only thing I've ever truly lost is my spleen
Bruce *sipping coffee and reading a case*: batcave freezer underneath the popsicles but above the ice packs
Tim: wha-!
Bruce: if you hit the chunk of Jason from the explosion you've gone too far
Anyone looking to make a proper Scooby-Doo adaptation please remember:
Fred is the charismatic face of the group and the strategizer. Later adaptations made him a massive himbo who chugs respect for women juice and those have become necessary parts of his character.
Shaggy is cowardly but also incredibly resourceful; let us not forget his skill at ventriloquism. Make Shaggy the skill monkey, who every episode mentions some weird skill he has that's previously unmentioned; that'd be an amazing running gag. Also, bring back the dry humor Casey Kasem injected into the og character.
Scooby is Shaggy's best friend, the other half to his two-man comedy routine. Independently of Shaggy, Scooby is also prone to be a bit mischievous and just kind of a little scamp. Play up both of those things.
Velma is the smart nerdy one, who also had a really dry sense of humor. I don't know why she was turned into the "I'm surrounded by idiots" character because, while as I stated, she always had a dry sense of humor, she was never mean to her friends and never talked down to them, or anyone else. Bring back the chipper Velma from like Witch's Ghost or Zombie Island. Let Velma be a little cutie pie. Also keep her as a lebian
Daphne was... originally really just "The Girly One" but later adaptations have fleshed her out, like making her essentially the muscle of the group, which is just amazing and should continue. She's also been cast as the oddly resourceful one. Shaggy is the skill monkey, Daphne is the one who has a tool for literally any job. Human Swiss Army Knife, which again, would be an amazing running gag.
Have Shaggy and Daphne bounce off-the-wall ideas for a plan together, Fred steps in to ground them, while still using their ideas, and incorporating Velma's theories about the case.
Make references to Flim Flam and Hot Dog Water
A Scooby-Doo adaptation should not be difficult, and must be done with love.
The joke that the bats see their contingency plans as a form of love is super fucking funny, don't get me wrong but honestly they probably do see it as that cause they just forget to say the second part out loud.
"after I've taken you down, obviously I'd find whatever made you like this and then find the cure."
They come from gotham where mind altering substances are basically everywhere. One of the most profound ways a gothamite could say 'i care about you' is admitting to having a plan to disarm/capture you in the case you go off the deep end, so that they could then get you a cure.
Unfortunately for the bats, no one else thinks like that cause what the actual fucks guys
Batman being aggressively secretive towards the Justice League is one of my favorite tropes, but it gets INFINITELY funnier when you take the younger generations of heroes into consideration.
Barry Allen? He doesn't know shit about Batman, still partially convinced he's not human, still a little bit scared to talk to him. But Wally West? That's Nightwing's best friend. He's been around Dick since both of them were kids. He's had sleepovers at the manor since he was thirteen.
I just think it would be hilarious if all of the younger generations 100% know that Batman is Bruce Wayne. They've slept at the manor, some of them have taken various Batkids to school dances, they've been offered Alfred's cooking. And all because they've gotten close to at least one Batkid and said Batkid wore Bruce down until he let them reveal their identity. But all of them manage to keep this information from their mentors. Either purposefully or completely on accident.
Then you end up with a situation where the younger generations grow up and join the League and the older members Very Quickly realize that they seem a lot more comfortable with Batman than they should be.
