Staying with the WIP of the last posts: In some ways, painting a big format is easier than a medium size… This is because there is so much more margen for errors: If you dot paint in a small or medium work and it’s ½ or 1 cm (0,39") off, you will have to cover it/wipe it off and do it again, Yet when it’s only 1 cm off on a 2,60 cm wide work, nobody will notice!!! 🎨🎨🎨 And so goes for this mouth, it’s probably about 85cm wide (our real mouth is approx 3cm). This gave me a lot of playground to style-lise it a lot! Personally I enjoy seeing here how my perception accepts the green color as part of the red lips and how my mind isn’t bothered by the continuous dark shadow that depicts both lip and deep “empty” mouth-space without tone changing! Perhaps I am a bit weird, but I think that is just so exiting! 😁😁😁 http://ift.tt/2nzEiHU
To stay with the dreamy Beauties of early 2015! I really liked these ethereal faces which seem to have the ability to take me on a journey into space. (Red space in this case) And these are very reasonable priced, medium sized paintings that could fit in any regular house, 1 meter high and 60cm wide (is a meter approx 30"? … I always mix those sizes up). That’s why it puzzles me that these paintings are still in the Austrian Gallery Lendnine in Graz. Perhaps I should make mega-sizes of these, so they REALLY stand out on big walls??? http://ift.tt/2oajSFe
Young man, The world will soon be destroyed, I said young man, Prepare to scream at the void
Something a bit different for this, I lined it with a fine line marker as opposed to using pencil lines, you even get the binder left in for #aesthetic values. This is typically what you’ld find in my bag on a uni day, and uni notebooks as well, but they’re boring.
This painting is going to have a lot of outlines to explain the forms. I started with the darkest values, to define the range of tone-values visually for myself. 🎨🎨🎨 I try never to use black in my mixes, for I feel that kill the vibration of the colors (scientifically it’s proven that colors are not much more than wavelengths -much like radio sonic waves- that reach our eyes and that our brains translate them into what we “see” as colors) and weakens the artwork as a whole. 🎨🎨🎨 These dark colors I am using here is bright red mixed with a marine blue adding a tiny bit of fluorescent orange to vibe along with them. http://ift.tt/2oCIxj4
