Still thinking about an au in which for some reason WWX and the Wens are left to just live peacefully on the creepy death mountain - some detente wherein they don’t leave the mountain ever and in exchange no one tries to visit ever. Borders patrolled by corpses and sect disciples. So A-Yuan grows up raised kind of collectively but mostly by WWX and Wen Qing (the one most likely to tell WWX that he’s doing it wrong), and learns healing-focused spiritual cultivation AND demonic cultivation, and then at some point starts sneaking out to be the terrifying force of righteous kindness he was always going to be
tanoraqui
Righteous kindness but also, like, having picked up WWX’s cavalier confidence (or at least some of the ability to fake it) and Wen Qing’s general attitude of Do No Harm But Take No Shit
Like IMAGINE

In this au, despite the strict border-by-mutual-agreement that’s the only reason somehow no ones tried to attack, LWJ sneaks in like one a year so he and WWX can make eyes at one another but not actually say anything ever, and Wen Qing and LXC are both EXHAUSTED bc both their dumb little brothers (WWX is a sibling by adoption now don’t @ me) mope for like a week after EVERY SINGLE TIME THIS HAPPENS, and it’s been /over ten years/.
tanoraqui
Meanwhile Jiang YanLi and JZX are FINE, and JYL somehow keeps up some sort of correspondence with WWX - or at least, he’s faithfully managed to send a birthday present for Jin Ling every single year, and every time, JYL makes her son write a thank-you note and bribes some series of people to get it smuggled back to Yiling
tanoraqui
…which means, honestly, that Jin Ling is probably wildly curious about his uncle the evil demonic cultivator kept trapped within the terrible ghost mountain by the forces of Good and Right, and WILL sneak out one day to try to visit. Optimally, obviously, at the same time Wen Yuan is sneaking out to see the non-mountain world
tanoraqui
The optimal plot is that Wen Yuan ropes Jin Ling into helping him set up WWX and LWJ, because he, too, is exasperated at this point, and Jin Ling ropes Wen Yuan into arranging like a parent trap reunion for the Jiang siblings, and obviously there are monsters and undead to complicate it all
tanoraqui
They kind of acquire Lan Jingyi somewhere, somehow. He’s having a blast

Nie Mingjue will regret this in the morning.
Shit, it’s 2020 and I’ve updated this Behemoth again. There’s both old and new in here. If you’re having problems with links overlapping, it is most likely the app/dashboard glitching—try the permalink version, and everything should work out, even on mobile. And of course, HAVE FUN.
Also: I had to split this one in two otherwise the links just poof, disappear. Part one is here.

Akashi: I don’t have a favorite friend. How could you even think that? All of my friends are of totally equal importance and worth.
Midorima: It’s Kuroko, isn’t it?
Akashi: I can’t help it, he has those “love me tender” eyes and I’m weak.
OG Shen Qingqiu waking up and remembering his torture at the hands of Luo Binghe. Yue Qingyuan is above him, all concerned because he’s been running a fever for days now. The thing is about remembering the torment he went through, is that he remembers that Yue Qingyuan died.
He remembers that demon bringing the remains of Yue Qingyuan to him. Even under all of that torture, Shen Jiu had never once broken. Not until he learned that Yue Qingyuan was dead. Gone. Because of him. “A-Jiu?” The words are softly uttered and then he suddenly has a lap full of Shen Jiu in his lap.
He’s trembling, Yue Qingyuan realizes, still with shock for a moment before he wraps his arms around him. He doesn’t know what to think, nor why he’s awoken, only to show such an intense reaction. Yue Qingyuan has never seen him so shaken before.
He’s about to speak, but today is a day for yet another shock. “Qi-ge.” Those words that he never thought to hear again are uttered, and he goes still in his shock. Something had happened to so thoroughly shake Shen Jiu that he’d uttered those words that brought a bittersweet pain to his chest.
Shen Jiu needs a bath, to be properly taken care of, but Yue Qingyuan pays that no mind for now. “I’m here. Xiao Jiu, I’m here.” Come what may, he won’t leave him like this. No matter what. He won’t abandon his Xiao jiu ever again.
(And if his robes are stained with tears in the aftermath, Yue Qingyuan doesn’t dare to speak of it once Shen Jiu has composed himself. Yet the image of Xiao Jiu crying will forever be ingrained in his mind. Ah, he thinks through the pain, This is what breaking feels like.)
STAR WARS LO-FI PLAYLIST
tbh the idea of immortal character's personal growth is interesting and doesn't seem to be explored enough
I mean, how many times have we seen an immortal character drop the whole "actually I'm several hundred years old" bombshell, and they still act like the exact same person they were at age 20 or whatever. how many people do you know who are still the same as they were even just 10 or 20 years ago? yet somehow eight lifetimes came and went and had no impact on this dude?
Give me immortal life stages. Give me
millenia old characters poking gentle fun at someone who's 200yrs old and in their edgy 'brooding' phase.
midlife crisis immortals who just got bit with the 'what am I doing with my life?' bug, who suddenly feel like they're wasting their gift and they need to be making the most if it right now
you know what, I want an immortal who keeps having weird skills/knowledge, and everybody assumes they've got this big elaborate backstory because of it, but no, it's just all from that one fifty-year span where they decided they needed to learn how to everything or else they were wasting their potential
immortals who have changed their stances and opinions on issues but now there's callout posts for things they said in letters to their friends a hundred and fifty years ago, like yes @cumberbatchcockdongle, I am sorry I said transphobic things about the bearded lady at that circus in 1872, please kindly forgive me and/or fuck off
characters going through the eternal cycle of whether loving mortals is worth the inevitable grief. the answer always depends on how recently they've been bereaved. just a merry-go-round of 'better to have loved ans lost' versus 'shitfuck grieving hurts I'm never doing this again'
super laid back immortals who have lived through so much nothing phases them, and sometimes they have to be politely reminded that things do not always 'work themselves out' for mortals
Legitimate *pro bono legal services* don’t exist without a good reason. In a few of the exmormon groups I’m in you’ll see regular posts saying stuff like “Look what my lawyer sent me today!” with a pic of their resignation confirmation letter from the church.
You know. Just stuff that a normal average church that is definitely not actually a cult would do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
🙄
saw a fic the other day where Yanli was like "my husband's half-brother is creepy and horrible and I'm never letting him hold my baby" and I was just like ??????? umm ding dong you're wrong ???? like she wouldn't see this bundle of deeply familiar traits and traumas and just go "I'm going to take care of that small tired man whether he likes it or not :) :) :)"
If you're tired put never back down never give up on loop in spotify or whatever music player you have
it has granted me miracles
