Chapter two is out! You can read it on AO3.
Chrissy and Eddie have been best friends since middle school, ever since that one misguided kiss led to them coming out to each other in a panic. In order to shield themselves from the town’s homophobia, they promised that they’ll help each other find love; and that they won’t date until the other one does. Now, four years later, Robin finds out about their deal and in an attempt to shoot her shot with Chrissy, convinces Steve to take Eddie out on a date. The problem is Steve thinks he’s straight and Eddie hates him.

A fic based on 10 Things I Hate About You, where the last thing that happened with the Upside Down was Starcourt (but Billy was never involved) and Eddie, Chrissy, Robin and Steve are trying to navigate their senior year and maybe, hopefully find love.
Chapter Synopsis
Robin tutors Chrissy in French for the opportunity to grow closer to her, but an intimate moment leaves her flustered and questioning Chrissy's intentions. Eddie is convinced Robin is a lesbian and is on a mission to show Chrissy she has a chance. Robin finds out about their deal and pushes Steve to take a risk that could impact both their love lives.

yes, and also him
steddie have that kind of marriage where their kid ends up calling steve ‘sweetheart’ and ‘love’ because that’s what they hear eddie call steve. by the time they realize what’s been happening, steve is embarrassed and eddie doubles down on never using his real name again.
A parallel I haven't seen much is Steve Harrington and the Flashlights.
At the Creel House, everyone is holding flashlights and Steve asks 'Where'd everyone get those?' and Dustin's reply is 'Do you need to be told everything? You're not a child.' Before he hands him his backpack and tells him there's one in the pocket.
No one thought beforehand to check Steve had a flashlight or ask him, he's the one that has to ask, and even then he only asks where they got them (which is honestly a fair question because they were all at the wheeler house before this and apparently the wheelers had 4-6 flashlights sitting around?) and the response he gets is a sarcastic insult. He isn't even given a flashlight, just told where to get one himself.
Cut to the boat scene and Steve preparing to swim to the gate. Eddie immediately begins pulling out a plastic bag he can empty and wrap the flashlight for Steve to use. And just gives it to him.
Eddie doesn't ask if he needs one, he just sees what Steve is about to do and supports him, no questions asked. He knows he's going into a dark lake so he finds a way Steve can use a flashlight underwater and gives it to him. There's no sarcastic comments, no condescending explanation, no disagreeing with him, he just hands him the flashlight with a 'Good Luck'
It is such a big example of the difference in the way Steve gets treated by Eddie compared to the others. And Eddie continues to treat him that way. Supports him no questions asked. Sees he's vulnerable in a hostile environment, here's my vest, no questions asked. Steve doesn't ask about Dustin but Eddie tells him 'Kid worships you', Steve doesn't talk about Nancy but Eddie tells him she loves him. He never questions Steve's ability or treats him like a dumb jock, instead 'Harrington's got her' and 'Make him pay'. Just support and trust.
so, i’ve been a little nervous about writing the romance parts of my current fic. i’ve never written a kissing scene before and i want to make it good - it's a slow burn so the payoff's gotta be good. the only thing i can think of is to do a lot of reading…
all jokes aside, if you have any tips for writing romantic or intimate scenes…help a guy out?
One of the reasons why I love Steddie is how sweet Eddie was with Steve in the forest scene. That’s what got me into this ship. It was nice to see someone being patient and kind to Steve like that and it coming from someone like Eddie who viewed Steve so differently means a lot.
I loved how he told him how much Dustin looks up to him, making Steve smile and even after that wanting to joke around a little to make Steve laugh as well.
It was such a nice change, because all the other scenes we just see him bickering with someone or people making him seem stupid when he asks questions. Eddie didn’t make fun of him for not knowing Ozzy like he probably would have prior to things and instead let it be and called Steve cool. I love them.
