Portraits of Kilauea Volcano by Jules Tavernier (1844-1889)
Tavernier was a French painter who was fascinated by Hawaii’s awe-inspiring fiery volcanoes. To reach Kilauea in the 1800s, one would have to make a difficult 3 day journey by horseback. Despite this, Tavernier called the place “an artist’s paradise.”

“Erebor – A3, watercolour and gouache. My depiction of The Lonely Mountain (Erebor), from J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Deep within the dwarven keep lies Smaug the dragon, perched upon his hoard of treasures. The smell of someone unfamiliar rouses him from sleep, but Bilbo stays hidden, watching.
Rivendell – A3, watercolour and acryla gouache. My depiction of Rivendell from J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.”

Finally got my new air compressor hooked up and we’re back in business on the fossil prep front. First up in the queue was the removal of the excess matrix and cleaning up on this Peronoceras subarmatum which I found on the Jurassic Yorkshire Coast a few months ago. I’ve been out of action on fossil prep for nearly 4 months so it’s nice to be back up and running

When you see Moraine Lake for the first time in person 😍😍
.
I still remember being in complete disbelief of the actual water color of this beautiful Canadian lake! Today I’m excited to be headed to upstate New York for a few days in search of more awe and more lakes aha 🙌

Amazingly surreal Las Pozas in the rainforest by Xilitla in the Mexico mountains. Created by Edward James in the 40′s, it includes more than 80 acres of natural waterfalls and pools interlaced with towering surrealist sculptures and buildings. The many trails throughout the garden site are composed of steps, ramps, bridges and narrow, winding walkways that traverse the valley walls. It was supposed to be a “Garden of Eden” containing a huge variety of plants and animals.
I legit cannot wait to go do amethyst hunting in GA again! What a blast. Take a look at the dark purple in this one. 😍💎⛏😁👍
