Jinwoo and Y/n return home with some fried chicken and beer (the beer being for them).

Jinwoo: We're home.

Jinah opens her room door.

Jinah: Hey, welcome back.

Jinah gasps when she sees the fried chicken.

Jinwoo and Y/n sit down with Jinah as they eat some KFC.

Jinah: I've been meaning to ask about how that thing went.

As they drink, they remember how dicey things got in the dungeon with Dongsuk and how leveling up must've changed them in some way.

The system then pops up and informs them that a harmful substance has been detected in their bodies.

The system then detoxifies them of all the alcohol in their body.

Jinwoo and Y/n then decide to dip.

In Jinwoo and Y/n's shared room, Jinwoo is drinking some more beer.

Y/n: You know you'll get wasted if you keep drinking.

Jinwoo: Did you forget we can't get drunk?

Jinwoo then sees the rewards she and Y/n got when they became players.

One of which being The Great Spell Caster Kandiaru's Blessing, a stat buff that has been healing them and keeping them all healthy and fit.

Jinwoo and Y/n then meet up with Jinho a day later in Cafe Pene.

Jinho: I know this is out of the blue, so thanks for meeting with me.

Jinho then gets to the chase and asks Y/n and Jinwoo if they can join his little strike team he's putting together.

Jinwoo refuses and states she and Y/n have better things to do but Jinho requests that they at least do 19 dungeon raids and to sweeten the deal, they'll get 30 billion in doing so.

They leave after all that.

Jinwoo: You've never exercised much before, so why now?

Jinah: Well, all I ever do is study. It's, like, super unhealthy.

Y/n: She's not wrong, Jin. Studying is useless if your body isn't ready to accommodate your mind.

Jinah: She got you there, Jinwoo.

Jinwoo: Whatever, you little runt. Besides, it's so much worse than eating a mountain load of chicken.

Jinah kicks Jinwoo in the leg, making her chuckle.

Soon enough, they're jogging through the park as Y/n starts up the conversation.

Y/n: Hey, Jinah, if we had 30 billion, what would you do with it?

Jinah: Where is this coming from?

Y/n: Well, me and your sister got curious.

Jinwoo: I could have said something if you let me.

Y/n: And yet, I did. Deal with it, Jinwoo Sung.

Jinah: Ooh, she called you by your full name.

Jinah then states a chunk of that money would go to her mom's medical bills, and the rest to college.

Jinwoo and Y/n then proceed to hit the jets as they speed past Jinah, leaving her behind.

After that, Jinwoo and Y/n chill by a bench and notice that they ran an extra mile than before.

Even doing extra on all their workouts and other stuff.

And acquire a loot box, which upon opening grants them a dungeon key.

The key leading to an S-Rank dungeon.

They find out that the dungeon contains a potion called the Exlir of Life, a cure all miracle.

After a little vist with Jinwoo's mom, they show up at the dungeon's location by some building.

Y/n's current hairstyle and outfit:

Jinwoo unlocks the dungeon and a massive pair of doors manifests.

Jinwoo and Y/n walk inside and end up what can described as Seoul on fire.

Jinwoo then whips out the teleportation stone and puts it away as insurance. Just in case shit hits the fence.

Then, a giant Cerberus boss appears as it roars.

It's roar creates a crazy ass wind, which doesn't affect Y/n and Jinwoo.

Cerberus then lands down infront of the players as they conjure up their daggers.

Jinwoo: We won't give in to fear.

Y/n: We refuse to die in this hellhole!

Jinwoo and Y/n activate their wolf assassin title as they run towards their opponent using the dash ability to move even faster.

Cerberus goes for a strike but they dodge as Jinwoo and Y/n slash Cerberus by it's legs but nothing happens, barely a scratch.

Jinwoo and Y/n move around the three-headed dog, slicing every part of its body to no avail.

As they back away, Cerberus strikes again but Jinwoo and Y/n jump up.

Jinwoo's thoughts: ( We've hardly damaged it! And that's with the buff from our Wolf Assassin title!)

Y/n's thoughts: (Guess it's time to switch to plan B.)

Y/n and Jinwoo switch things up by activating Murderous Intent.

They unleash a powerful aura, hoping to weaken the beast.

However, Cerberus roars and cancels out the skill effects.

Jinwoo: No dice, huh?

Cerberus goes for a headbutt as Jinwoo and Y/n dodge and fall down on the middle head.

The players stab Cerberus in the face but the poison and paralysis fails

Jinwoo and Y/n are yeeted off.

From there, shit goes crazy as the Cerberus boss just boxes the ladies with crazy fury.

Then, Jinwoo gets bitten on her left arm and Y/n on her right.

Their HP starts to go down due to massive damage.

Cerberus even uses it's rage skill to boost its stats.

The monster then just continually boxes the girls, rocking and socking their shit.

Their health draining with each hit, forcing the system to activate the Willpower skill to keep them going.

They manage to hide and think of a strategy but get jumped again. Forcing them to hit the jets.

They use some healing potions to recover some lost HP.

From there, they drink the sack of venom they got from defeating Kasaka.

With the added strength boost, they battle against Cerberus once more, the fight is grueling with Jinwoo and Y/n getting seriously injured.

In the end, they heal up through leveling up.

And acquire some rewards like the recipe guide for what they'll need to make the Exlir of Life.

Jinwoo and Y/n decide to leave since this dungeon is way too out of their league and decide to return once they're stronger.

A/n: I'm skipping the fight with the giant spider boss and moving onwards. Hope you understand.

So, after some great trail and error, Jinwoo and Y/n managed to beat the boss and level up as a result.

Plus, scaring Jinho since he believes that they're false rankers, people who fake their rank on purpose and are largely known for being a little bit crazy.

So, bro decides to call them boss/ma'am (that one is specifically for Y/n) to stay on their good side.

Then, he mines the mana crystals and tells the pair to relax since they're mostly tired from the spider boss fight.

This has Jinwoo going like:

Jinwoo's thoughts: (What has gotten into him?)

Y/n's thoughts: (I have a feeling he's being nice since he saw Jinwoo and I kill the boss, so he doesn't want his head on a platter. Though, he's very sweet. My heart warms for him.)

Suddenly, they hear a voice saying:

Jinsuk: No. They're alive?

Jinwoo and Y/n turn around to see Dongsuk and his goons standing in one of the tunnels.

Jinwoo exhales in frustration as she places her hand around Y/n's waist protectively.

The group of bastards head down to confront the three.

Dongsuk: So you did squash the spider.

Kyu-hwan: Guess it was just an overgrown bug and not an overpowered monster.

Chul-jin: I'm sure that dude's gear made beating a C-Rank boss a cinch.

Juntae: He's a D-Rank, though. Thing must've been weak as hell for him to kill it.

One of the hunters asks what's next as Dongsuk talks with Jinho.

Dongsuk: Jinho Yoo! Those fancy toys of yours got me curious, so I did a little digging. Your old man's the head of Yoojin Construction, Myunghan Yoo. Isn't that right?

Y/n's thoughts: (So, they're using his family and personal information as blackmail, huh? Damn greedy fucks).

Jinho wonders how that plays and Dongsuk mentions that he must kill Jinwoo and Y/n and he'll live. Don't and he'll die with them.

Jinho however doesn't comply immediately, forcing the goons to ready their weapons against him.

Dongsuk: Come on. Not like it's a hard choice. What happens in a dungeon stays in a dungeon. Don't tell me a D-Rank is afraid of two E-Rank losers like those girls.

Jinho then walks over to Jinwoo and Y/n, seemingly ready to kill them.

Y/n's thoughts: (He won't do it. Jinho's a good kid, so there's no way in hell he'd kill someone to save his own skin.)

Y/n knows deep down Jinho ain't no killer and she gets proven right as Jinho stands infront of her and Jinwoo to defend them.

Dongsuk: Wow. You're actually siding with the deadweights?

Jinwoo is surprised by Jinho's bravery and willingness to protect her and Y/n as she smiles while Y/n also smiles like a proud mother to her son.

Kyu-hwan: So are we cooking the golden goose, too, or what?

Dongsuk: We'll take out the weak ones first. Say, fellas. Ever killed a human before? In cold blood?

The group of bastard lizards march towards them, weapons drawn and ready to commit murder.

Jinwoo and Y/n analyze the situation before them.

Then, a system Notification for both of them pops up and it reads:

Notification:

An urgent quest has arrived.

Urgent Quest: Defeat the enemies

Goal:

There are people present who want to kill the players.

Defeat them all and ensure your safety.

Warning: If you do not complete the quest, you will receive the appropriate penalty.

This shocks the players as the system is telling them to kill humans ,something completely unfathomable.

Kyu-hwan then launches a light spell which blasts them into some mana crystals.

As Jinwoo and Y/n lay there with blood dripping from their heads, they think to themselves.

Jinwoo and Y/n's: (How could we have forgotten? It's survival of the fittest in this world. This world of violence, cruelty, deception, and betrayal. How could we? How? How? How? How? How? How? How? How How? How? That's right. We got numb to it. Careless, overconfident, delusional.)

The system then changes the "appropriate penalty " to "your hearts will stop".

Jinwoo and Y/n's thoughts: (And now, the system expects us to murder our enemies. Does it need to keep us alive for some reason?)

Jinwoo and Y/n slowly begin to get up as they realize what the system really wants.

Jinwoo and Y/n's thoughts: (This isn't coincidence or charity. The system wants us to live.)

Once they're back up on their feet, Dongsuk is shocked.

Jinwoo and Y/n's: (It wants us strong).

Jinho faces Jinwoo and Y/n, happy to see them still alive.

Jinwoo then rubs off some of the blood off her face and Y/n does the same.

Jinwoo: I think I get it now.

Y/n: I think so as well.

The players walk forward, menacingly as they speak.

Jinwoo: If the system is bent on using us...

Y/n: Then we'll just use the system.

Dongsuk: Kyu-hwan, you idiot. You shouldn't have held back.

Kyu-hwan: (laughing) Sorry, boss, I should've done better. But I guess you could say I didn't want to hurt the cute E-Rank on the right.

Kyu-hwan refers to Y/n on the left side of Jinwoo.

Jinsuk: Understandable. Maybe we'll just kill Jinwoo and take Y/n and Jinho instead. I haven't felt what an E-Rank beauty like feels like. That Jinwoo girl is a lucky bitch I'll tell you that.

Jinwoo was now more furious than before. These sons of bitches tried to kill her and Y/n. Now they want to take what's hers. Her girlfriend, her boo, her shawty? Nah, blood's about to spilled today.

Jinwoo: Thanks for the reminder. The weak always lose, no matter what.

Y/n: That's the way it is.

One of the hunters mocks Jinwoo and Y/n as they reply.

Jinwoo and Y/n: We do. Your crew understands how it works, too, if you're saying that.

A dark aura begins to spew out from Jinwoo and Y/n.

Jinwoo and Y/n: You hunt and hunt.

They then stare at the evil assholes with a dark aura surrounding the two.

Jinwoo: So now we want to know...

Y/n: Are the hunters ready to be preyed upon?

Juntae walks up to Jinwoo and Y/n as he speaks.

Juntae: Hey, boss. I'mma handle this one.

Juntae then proceeds to place his arm around Y/n's waist in a flirtatious manner, which pisses off Jinwoo as he places his arm Jinwoo's shoulder.

Juntae: Okay, listen up, beautiful. You and your girlfriend need a reality check. Are we " ready to be preyed upon?" And just what can a jumped-up little duo of E-Ranks like you even do? I mean, you two are the weakest hunters of--

Y/n then whips out her dagger and places it by Juntae's neck.

Jinwoo whips out her dagger as she places it on his neck too.

Together, they slit his throat and cut off his head. Juntae's head falls off his body as the rest of his body thuds to the ground.

Everyone is shocked at this sudden action.

The system then notifies Jinwoo and Y/n they made their human kill.

Jinwoo and Y/n: That's one down.

Jinsuk: J-Juntae!

Kyu-hwan: What the hell, man?

Jinsuk: When did they draw those daggers?

Sukmin: Where were they even those?

Dongsuk's thoughts: (Arrogance aside, Juntae was stronger than the both of them! How could two E-Ranks kill a D-Rank?)

Jinwoo and Y/n then look over to Juntae's corpse.

Jinwoo and Y/n's thoughts: (We just killed someone. A person. Even if we say the system made us do it. We still ended a man's life. But it's either their lives or ours. So we can't back down now.)

Jinwoo and Y/n grip their daggers tightly as they look up with cold indifference.

Jinwoo and Y/n's thoughts: (Because it's only the strongest who survive!)

Dongsuk and his henchman then get ready to fight as Jinsuk unloads his rapid-fire crossbow.

Jinsuk: Go to hell!

Jinsuk's go on rapid fire but Jinwoo and Y/n block each one with the quickness.

Sukmin and Chul-jin attempt to jump them but Jinwoo and Y/n evade.

Chul-jin gets stabbed in the back of the neck by Jinwoo.

Sukmin tries to kill her but Y/n comes in and stabs him in the gut.

Jinsuk: What kind of E-Ranks move like that?

The two hunters that attempted to kill the players struggle to recover.

Chul-jin: Damn bitches!

Suddenly, Chul-jin and Sukmin cough up blood from their mouths and eyes and everywhere else.

This thanks to the Kasaka's Venom Fang dagger's drain and paralysis effect from the poison imbued within.

Dongsuk: Kyu-hwan!

Kyu-hwan: Oh, um, right!

Jinwoo and Y/n finish off Chul-jin and Sukmin with a few slashes.

Jinsuk attempts to shoot them but Y/n speeds past him and slices him by his gut and throat. Plus, a stab in the forehead.

Kyu-hwan tries to unleash a magic blast but the female hunters dodge and take him out in brutal fashion as well.

The system notifies them that they killed 5/6 enemies.

Jinho is awestruck at the power the players are showcasing.

Jinho: They're both so strong. And they seem more than when they defeated the dungeon boss.

Dongsuk, shocked at what has happened, can't wrap his head around the fact that two E-Ranks killed his men.

Dongsuk: You two killed all five of my men within seconds. Bet you also took out the spider, huh?

Dongsuk accuses Jinwoo and Y/n of hiding their true power as he activates his reinforcement skil, making his body as durable as steel.

Bro thinks he's tough shit but dear God he shall learn.

Dongsuk charges at the girls but they simply appear infront of him as they say:

Jinwoo: Mister Hwang, you're impressive.

Y/n: But sadly for you, we have some rather bad news.

Jinwoo and Y/n grab Dongsuk by his face as they slam him down to the ground.

Jinwoo and Y/n: You see. We've been leveling up this whole time.

Dongsuk can't believe that two E-Ranks managed to slam him to the ground so easily.

He then tries to negotiate with them in exchange for them sparing his life.

However, Jinwoo reminds him he tried to kill her and Y/n and states that Dongsuk mentions that what happens in a dungeon stays in a dungeon.

He then utters his last words.

Dongsuk: You bitch! If you had any idea who my younger broth--

Jinwoo proceeds to decapitate Dongsuk, ending his life, indefinitely.

The system notifies Jinwoo and Y/n that they completed the urgent quest.

Meanwhile, Jinho pukes out his lunch due to the bodies and blood.

Then they leave when the dungeon begins to collapse.

Outside, back in the real world, a Hunter Association representative who questions them on what happened.

Jinho covers for Jinwoo and Y/n by claiming Dongsuk and his men fell in battle.

Jinwoo and Y/n acquire some sweet rewards and a new skill called Murderous Intent which places enemies in a state of panic.

Jinho then thanks Jinwoo and Y/n for what happened as they head off home.

Upon returning home, Y/n goes to the shower.

Y/n: I'm gonna go shower all this blood and guts off.

Jinwoo: Can I join you?

Y/n: Sure.

Jinwoo and Y/n take off their clothes and head into the shower.

Once inside, Jinwoo turns on the shower and water pours down.

Jinwoo wraps her arms around Y/n's waist as her breast presses against Y/n's back.

A/n: Luckily it ain't her dick.

Y/n: Jin, did we do the right thing? You know, back at the dungeon? I know Dongsuk and his guys were pieces of shit but were we really in the right?

I wanted to make this post cause when I came up with this fanfic, I was like, "What would Y/n's powers be like?"

Now, just like Jinwoo, she'll obviously be a player in the system but in terms of Monarch powers, what she got?

In most of these fics, you'd have the reader having light powers and all that. That's cool, but that feels common from my understanding.

Plus, I initially wanted her to be some "Gear Monarch", like having the powers to turn people, like foes into gears from Guilty Gear but that felt stupid.

So, I decided she'll be the second Shadow Monarch like Jinwoo in this story.

Personality: Y/n is known to be brave, strong, great-willed and heroic person. She is also kind, loving, caring, warm, sympathetic, nurturing and sweet.

And a bit introverted and shy in large crowds.

Y/n is basically a model soldier and person, but don't let that fool you, cause that's just one side of her.

Jinwoo is wearing a blue hoodie, orange shirt, and jeans, blue jeans, I mean. While sporting short hair and blue eyes (I know someone's gonna say they're grey in the manhwa but I'm watching the anime to make this and in the anime, they are blue, plus in this fanfic, Jinwoo is female and a Futanari or G!P as some would say compared to the og male badass himself).

And Y/n, just like in the picture above, having some long black hair, white sleeve tee that brings out her chest nicely and matching jeans.

Both girls having backpacks and bandages on them from previous jobs.

At some point, a fellow hunter named Kim Sangshik calls them the weakest hunters of all mankind cause they're E-Rank.

Jin-Woo's thoughts: Too late.

Y/n's thoughts: Heard every word. Albeit, there is some truth in there we can't avoid.

As the girls mind their business, they hear someone calling their names.

???: Jinwoo! Y/n! You two got hurt again!

They look up to see their friend and fellow hunter colleague, B-Rank hunter and healer, Lee Joohee.

Y/n: Joohee!

Jinwoo:Yeah, it's true we got hurt, but we'll live. But good to see you anyway.

Joohee, looking a disappointed parent, interrogates the two.

Joohee: Why don't you two skip the small talk and explain what happened to you guys?

Jinwoo goes on to hesitatingly explain that she and Y/n got hurt on another job, like always.

Joohee warns the pair to be extra careful as Y/n goes off to get coffee.

Jinwoo notices this and asks Y/n what's up.

Jinwoo: Y/n, where you going?

Y/n: To get coffee.

Jinwoo: But we-

Joohee places her hand on Jinwoo's mouth, silencing her at once.

Joohee: Go on ahead, Y/n. We'll be waiting for you.

Y/n: Ok, but before I go.

Y/n walks up to Jinwoo, gives her a kiss on the cheek and dip, causing the dark-haired girl to blush.

After that, Jinwoo and Joohee are sitting on some metal beams as they conversate.

Joohee: I heard you and Y/n got hospital stay.

Jinwoo: Hey, silver lining, though, neither of us died, plus we were the only ones who got hurt.

Joohee: What happened?

Jinwoo: The rest of the Team was a higher rank, and the dungeon was an E, so they didn't even bother to bring a healer.

Joohee is shocked as she leans forward towards Jinwoo.

Joohee: They didn't even bring a healer? Out of all the self-centered, thoughtless things to do!

Jinwoo then calms her down as she speaks.

Jinwoo: It's OK. Not like I'm mad, besides it's not their fault we're weak. Besides, it's not so bad when I have Y/n around.

Jinwoo starts blushing as she talks about Y/n, her beloved childhood friend.

Jinwoo: You know me and Y/n have been around each other since we were babies. She's always been a source of comfort for me.

Jinwoo looks down at the ground as she continues her rambling.

Jinwoo: We've always been there for one another. I was there for her when my family took her in from her abusive parents, and she's been there for me since my mom fell to Eternal Slumber.

Throughout their lives, Jinwoo and Y/n have been each other's ride or die, since day one. That's how it's been and that's how it's gonna be.

Joohee giggles a bit as Jinwoo continues rambling about how beautiful Y/n is and how much she loves her and all that crap.

Joohee: Wow, you really love her, don't you?

Jinwoo stops herself mid-sentence and turns to Joohee.

Jinwoo: Yeah, you can say that. I... I just love her a lot and we've been together for so long. For years, in fact. And yet, I feel as if I'm not enough for her. Like, she wouldn't want someone weak as an E-Rank like me.

Joohee proceeds to bonk Jinwoo on her head.

Jinwoo: Hey, what the hell was that?

Joohee: You fool! Do you realize how much Y/n loves you as much as you do with her? Y/n has been by your side since day one, right?

Jinwoo: Y-yeah, but why did you hit me like that?

Joohee: To get it through your thick head, damn it! You two clearly like each other, so why not be together? I've seen how you guys act around each other, so there's no point in hiding it.

Jinwoo: But what if we're not meant to be. You know how this job is, there's no guarantee that any of us will make it out alive. I don't want to leave her but I don't want her to leave me.

Joohee: So, what are you waiting for, lover girl? The girl, the woman and the very princess, the queen of your dreams is standing right over there....!

Joohee points at Y/n, getting coffee and some snacks for them, smiling and looking cute while talking to a few other hunters.

Joohee: She's waiting for you to go over there, be her knight in shining armor and protect her from harm. Isn't that what you say? She's your light and you want to protect her, right?

Jinwoo: Yeah.

Joohee: Then, today, you're going to over there and tell her how you feel and demand she be yours. And you'll die trying!

A/n: Damn, wingman Joohee for the win, am I right?✋️

Jinwoo: You know what, maybe you're right. I don't know when either of us we'll die so...

Jinwoo grips her hand into a fist as she speaks.

Jinwoo: Today's the day I make Y/n my girl.

Joohee: That's the spirit.

Y/n walks up to the two and hands them their coffees and Joohee, a chocolate donut.

Joohee: Thanks, Y/n.

Y/n: No problem.

Y/n turns to Jinwoo as she gives her one as well and then pokes her two fingers together in a cute way as she blushes.

Y/n: I only got one, so can we share?

Jinwoo: Alright.

Y/n sits beside her as they share the pastry and enjoy it, talking to each other more intimately, meanwhile Joohee (the wingman/shipper) just watches with a smile, knowing that these two will be getting together soon.

And she's been doing this for a while, trying to play cupid and have these E-Ranks get together already, but it seems like her work has finally been done.

Once that's all over, everyone gathers up to meet with the dungeon raid leader, Chiyul Song/Song Chiyil.

Chiyul: The name's Chiyul Song, and unless any of you have objections, I volunteer to be the leader of our dungeon raid. Speak now or hold your peace.

Everyone stands there, soaking in their leader's every word.

Beom-shik: Nope. I'm all for it.

Sangshik: Chiyul is the most skilled out of everyone here.

Jeongho: One less worry if he's in charge.

Meanwhile, Y/n is holding onto Jinwoo's right hand as they stand side by side.

Jinwoo: I just want to say, working with you, sir, is an abandoned privilege.

Y/n: Agreed. It's an amazing experience.

Chiyul: Thanks, you two. Now, with that settled... Shall we?

The construction gates open, showing the portal, aka the magic gate.

Everyone starts walking into the gate and into the dungeon.

Sangshik: Hey, Kids.

Sangshik appears behind Jinwoo and Y/n as he places his hands on their shoulders.

Sangshik: Hang behind the rest of the pack, and don't hurt yourselves.

Jinwoo: Good idea.

Y/n: We'll try.

Joohee: Focus on succeeding, not trying.

Joohee heads into the gate as Jinwoo and Y/n check out their weapons.

Y/n's knife:

Both weapons in their sheathed.

Jinwoo and Y/n's thoughts: (These weapons barely have any magic power in them. But yet, they're the only things we can afford. But it's better than nothing).

The two girls exhale deeply as they look into each other's eyes.

Jinwoo: Y/n, I just want you to know that I'll be there with you, protecting you no matter what.

Y/n: You too, Jin.

Jinwoo blushes a bit, since aside from his mother and sister, Y/n was the only person who called her that.

She shakes this off as they head into the dungeon, ready to face any foes or threats that come their way.

Sometime later, currently, in the dungeon, Jinwoo and Y/n alongside other hunters were killing some monsters and shit.

Jinwoo, knelt on the floor, as she stared at her bloody fingertips, seemingly excited.

Jinwoo: I actually got one.

Y/n walks over to her, covered in goblin blood as well.

Y/n: Jin, you good?

Jinwoo turns to Y/n and smiles.

Jinwoo: Yeah. And you?

Y/n: I'm good.

Jinwoo notices Y/n covered in blood and walks over to her.

Jinwoo: My god, you're covered in blood!

Y/n: Oh! This ain't mine, belongs to the dead goblin over there.

Y/n gestures to the dead monster behind her.

Jinwoo: But still, at least let me clean you up.

Jinwoo then takes a tissue out her pocket and wipes the blood off of Y/n's face and much of her beautiful body.

Jinwoo then stares into Y/n's eyes and Y/n stares right back.

Jinwoo: Um, let's move on.

Y/n: (Blushing a bit) Oh, you're right.

Jinwoo then thinks of how she just fumbled her chance to tell Y/n her feelings.

Jinwoo's thoughts: (Damn it, I missed my shot)!

Joohee: Jinwoo, Y/n!

Jinwoo looks up and sees a goblin gunning straight for Y/n.

Jinwoo: (Gasps) Y/n, look out!

Jinwoo dashes in and like a knight in shining armor, saves her princess from a dastardly villain, or in this case, a sleazy goblin.

Jinwoo's blade clashes with the goblin's as Y/n stares in shock and amazement.

Y/n: Jinwoo!

Jinwoo: Don't worry, Y/n. I promised I'd protect and I'm gonna do that right now.

Jinwoo's blade starts to crack as she backs away.

However, she falls but gets back up and runs away to distance herself from her opponent.

Y/n: Jin, I'm coming in to help you!

Jinwoo: No, stay back! I got this.

Jinwoo continues to dodge a few more times before charging in for a fatal strike.

But then... her knife/dagger breaks upon touching the goblin.

Y/n: Jin!

The goblin drives its blade into Jinwoo's abdomen as blood splashes out.

Y/n rushes in and attempts to kill the damn creature, but the goblin catches her lacking and slashes her chest.

Y/n: Shit!

Gi-Sool charges in and manages to kill the goblin; meanwhile, Jinwoo pulls the creature's blade out of her body. Blood gushing out of her like a puddle.

Gi-Sool then orders Joohee to heal Jinwoo and Y/n while he assists the strike squad.

She then does as told as she heals the two.

As she heals them, she asks them this question:

Joohee: Now, be honest, you two, neither of you are staying as hunters just cause you're too stubborn to quit, right? It's only a matter of when not if, something much worse happens.

Joohee then points out how Jinwoo and Y/n are hurt everywhere across their bodies.

The two attempt to apologize but Joohee wants none of it.

Joohee: I don't want both of you offering me an apology on a silver platter, okay? You two worry for God's sake.

Y/n: Well, that's how things are.

Jinwoo grabs Y/n's hand, comforting her. Y/n does so as well in response.

Joohee, meanwhile, watches the exchange between the two girls.

Joohee's thoughts: ( As much as I should be mad at them. They look so cute together. Just hoping they get together or something already).

Jinwoo and Y/n notice the other hunters talking about how there's barely anything worth scavenging from this dungeon.

One of the hunters calls out to the others, informing them of another dungeon he just found.

The group discovers this other dungeon is a double dungeon. Normally, in these cases, it's best to call the Hunters Association to deal with this.

However, many in the group wish to journey into the dungeon and the others don't, out of fear of the unknown inside.

Everyone turns to Jinwoo and Y/n to end the tie breaker they're having.

Both young girls decide to head inside since whatever is inside could help pay for Jinwoo's mom's hospital bills and help Jinah stay in school.

So, just like that, everyone pushes forward into the other dungeon.

As they move through the caverns of the dungeon, one of the hunters asks how long this goes?

Myung: How long's it been since we started this trek?

Jae-Hwan: About 40 minutes.

After some more trekking, they eventually find the doors to the lair of the dungeon.

The massive doors open as the torches on the wall light up with blue flames.

Jae-Hwan: Heh. "Let there be light."

The massive room has what appears to be a bunch of statues everywhere, including one in the center wearing royal clothes.

As they walk inside, Y/n thinks to herself:

Y/n's thoughts: (As much as this place is amazing, I can't shake this dark foreboding feeling).

Jinwoo notices Y/n's distress and holds her hands lovingly.

Jinwoo: Hey, everything's gonna be OK.

Y/n: Alright.

Y/n lays her head on Jinwoo's shoulder.

Everyone sees each statue has an instrument or weapon.

Meanwhile, Jinwoo and Y/n are standing in front of the statue with the royal attire, seated on a throne.

Y/n: Look at the size of that thing.

Everyone else then gathers around as they marvel at the statue, amazed at how large it is compared to the others.

The group then gather by a hooded statue, holding a stone tablet written in ancient script.

They learn that the dungeon is known as the Cartenon Temple and has a set of commandments.

They are as follow:

1. Thou shall worship God

2. Thou shall praise God

And the last one:

3. Thou shall prove thy faith to God.

Y/n turns around and notices the statue staring at her.

She tugs at Jinwoo's jacket sleeve.

Y/n: J-Jin? Jinwoo!

Jinwoo turns around to the giant statue and Y/n tells her what she saw.

Y/n: Jin, I think it's watching us. Like, I think it's been watching us.

Jinwoo: That can't be. Y/n, you must be seeing things.

Chiyul then reads the last bit of the tablet.

Chiyul: " You will not leave alive?"

Suddenly, a crashing sound can be heard as the doors close, effectively closing everybody inside.

Everyone starts shitting bricks as they wonder what to do.

One of the hunters, Jung Donghun, bumps into one of the other hunters as he tries to open the door, the statue nearby moves and uses its weapon to slice his head off, and his blood splatters across the massive doors.

The whole group is shocked beyond belief, having seen one of their comrades' heads chopped off.

One of the female hunters starts to panic as she screams.

Jinwoo and Y/n's thoughts: ( Oh God, that thing just killed him. Donghun was a D-Rank, and yet he was slain within an instant).

The two then start to panic as they turn around and the massive statue behind them stares down at them.

What will happen to these poor souls? Will they survive, or will they die?
