Of course Regulus and Voldemort didn't like each other, they were both competing to be supreme emo
Regulus Black
yes so i did make a blog to put all my thoughts about regulus in one spot
how do i explain that im not a βuwu cinnamon roll innocent sad soft boi crybaby besties with maraudersβ regulus stan but a βhe was a shitty terrible person until the day he died but was complex and most likely frightening and slightly unhinged and unrepentant and very slytherin and remorselessβ regulus stan and how do i explain that im not really a fan of anything jkr makes but regulus isnt her creation at all heβs just someone i made up in my head
when regulus died he didnβt renounce the pureblood cause, he just defected from voldemort because voldemort wanted to be immortal, etc., so pretty much died being a racist that still wanted to blow up muggles, he wouldnβt come back from the dead and suddenly join the order or even be polite to harry + co
jesus christ regulus didn't even really care about or believe voldemort's opinions and his cause, does it matter he was a death eater and you think he was a voldemort fanboy? he was a death eater because of his family probably, or maybe later he realized he doesn't agree with lv's opinions. and how is it against his character to ship jegulus when we know little about regulus' character?
We know enough about his ideals, which matched perfectly with his family's as told by Sirius himself. Your stupid little cutesy headcanons don't change that. His family was actually opposed to directly joining Voldemort instead of just supporting him from behind. Why would he cover his bedroom walls with Voldemort's newspaper clippings if he wasn't a Voldemort fanboy? Why was he the favourite coddled child if he didn't agree with his family's views? Your fanfics are not canon lol it makes me laugh that you say he didn't agree with the Pureblood cause when the little information we have about him suggests that he did.
Just like Slughorn, Albus Dumbledore collects people. Only, instead of focusing on those with influence, he looks to the outcasts.
The expelled half-giant. The young werewolf. The repentant Death Eater.
He protects them and gives them a second chance. All he asks in return is their loyalty.
And, if on occasion he requests that they undertake a certain task, invoking their debt of gratitude - well, that is no more than he is owed.
He once thought to add a certain disowned Black to his collection, but quickly realised his mistake.
Sirius is not an outcast, but a rebel. He knowingly chose his path, and chooses what price he is willing to pay for it. He refuses to be used.
So Albus Dumbledore abandons him.
