Rebuilding Live: A Mother's Plea for Hope and Safety in Gaza🕊️♥️
A year has passed since the war began, and we are still alive—living bodies, but without hope, without passion. Our bodies are exhausted by constant fear and displacement. I am Noor Al-Anqar, 26 years old, married to Ashraf Ismail (33 years old) and a mother of three children: Hussein (7 years old), Rajaa (5 years old), and Youssef, our infant (1 year old).
At the start of the war, our home was bombed and completely destroyed. We fled from the north to the south in search of safety, only to realize that there is no safe place.
•This is our home, filled with our memories and moments of joy and happiness, now reduced to rubble. Its destruction shattered our hearts.
I’m writing to you from my tent, which neither shields us from the cold of winter nor the heat of summer. After suffering through the harsh summer heat, we now await the winter with dread, living in torn tents and wearing tattered clothes, amidst severe shortages of basic necessities like food, water, clothing, and most importantly, safety.
•This is our tent, which does not represent any meaning of the word 'home'.
•My children are the heartbeat of my heart.
Hussein, who should have started his education by now, has lost his right to learn.
Rajaa, my precious little princess, has contracted hepatitis due to the lack of proper healthcare.
And Youssef, who was just one month old when the war began, is now taking his first steps, but they are steps into an uncertain future.
My children are the most valuable thing I have in this life, and I promise you, I will defy the impossible to ensure they are alright. The war has forced me to start a fundraising campaign to help myself and my family during these harsh times. To my friends on Tumblr, if you cannot donate, you can still help by sharing our story. Every bit of support or help could be the light that guides our path.
Thank you in advance.🙏🕊️

Hi, I don’t post on here a lot, but I would really appreciate it if I could get some advice. So, I have been feeding the stray/feral cats in my neighborhood, and I have realized that there a bunch!! I know that they probably come from the earlier generations of cats that people abandoned here when the housing crisis happened . I don’t know if I should call the shelter, but our shelter in my city SUCKS, and I am afraid that they’ll be off worse there.
So I have been feeding them and I was thinking about doing the “Trap, Neuter, and Release” process I have seen people doing. I know that this will help lower the feral/stray cat population in this neighborhood, but I am not sure how to start it. I do document the cats that I do see and who are the regulars that come by for food. I just feel really lost, and even though the internet is a crazy place it is useful. Also, does anyone know any good outdoor cat shelters.🧐🧐🧐
ANY ADVICE IS USEFUL! PLEASE I AM DESPERATE!!!!
P.S: these are some of the kitties😻
This is “Big boy”
This is “Lucky”
This is “Fluffy”
Hi, I took my baby to the vet and we found out she had parasites. She is taking medication for it so thank goodness for that. My question is, if anyone knows, do I isolate her in one room or just let her roam the house. I know I have to disinfect everything she touches, but I have never gone through this process so I really don’t know what to do. The vet just told me to change her litter, but they really didn’t go into much detail about caring for her. I don’t want my family to contract anything and I sure don’t want her to catch those nasty buggers again! Any advice anyone can give me would be SO HELPFUL!!!

Okay look, I understand that really important things are happening in the world at the moment, the queens’s funeral, Trump getting sued, Adam Levine cheating on his wife… but people in Iran are being murdered. This began by the cruel murder of a 22 year old girl, Mahsa Amini, last week by the police because she wasn’t wearing appropriate hijab. This has been going on in Iran for decades, women have been going through this.
Some people will want to jot this down as islamphobia, but that is nothing even close to reality. If women are burning their headscarves now, it’s not out of the hatred of Islam, it’s an act of protest to the loss of religious freedom. It’s not just that, if someone is born from muslim parents in Iran they are automatically assumed to be a muslim and they have no right to changing their religion without serious persecution. The Islamic Republic has given an evil face to Islam. The poeple of Iran don’t hate Islam. We hate governments who will force religion on women. Historically this has been a recurring event. Before the revolution in the ‘30s Reza Shah forced women to discard their hijab and now for decades the opposite is happening. All the people of Iran have ever asked for is freedom and all they’ve got in return has been cruelty, violence and death.
The cruelty doesn’t end there. Few months ago the southern and western parts of Iran had no water, they also did peaceful protests against that situation and they too were awarded with fire arms and violence. All for asking for the most basic need a person has. A need for water. Iran may not have a lot of water but there is enough for this not to happen. This is evident by the fact that the government is now using that said water against the protesters by blasting them with it.
For the past week the people of Iran of all races and ages and religions are fighting against the regime. The government has been imprisoning defenseless people. They are killing people to show the world they didn’t kill Mahsa Amini. They are using military grade equipment. In some cities they are using tanks, they are using guns and tear gas and batons. They may be using acid in some areas. They are using ambulances to arrest protesters and bring soldiers into crowds. They are doing this so that if the protesters attack these ambulances to free innocent people, they can have proof of people destroying public property. The only weapon people have against this immense level of violence is their bare hands and their courage.
Tumblr has a community of people who pride themselves on social justice and wanting to help people’s voices be heard. What is happening in Iran is no less than what has happened in other countries during the past few years. Iranians are so alone, they have no help. No country is out there helping the people of Iran. At least their voices can be heard. At least people should be aware of what is happening. Tens of people have been killed and hundreds injured just for protesting police brutality, the irony is evident.
Right as all these things are happening, the president of Iran another pillar in this evil government is in the US, talking about the freedom of Iranians and their fortunate lives.
About five years ago after a protest in Tehran; Telegram and Instagram, platforms that were widely used by Iranian were blocked by the government. They were added to the list of social media platforms that were blocked then, like Twitter and Facebook and Tumblr. After a while Instagram was unblocked but Telegram has been blocked since. All of this is just so people from the outside of Iran don’t find out about what is really happening in Iran so the government can lie on their behalf. Like they are doing right now, lying about how Iranian women wear hijab out of sheer will while the reality is that they are dying to gain freedom. About 4 years ago, the internet was completely shut off for about a month. This was following a protest regarding the extremely high price of gas in a country that has all the gas to last a hundred lifetimes. When the internet was shut down people didn’t know for how long. We were kept in the dark and the government was reining while ensuing terror in people with the threat of more restrictions. Just imagine having no internet, it was an insane time. They are restricting the internet again. Last night they shut off the internet partly and they may do it again indefinitely and the voices of the people may not reach anyone again. There isn’t much time.
Then they shot two rockets at a Ukrainian plane that had lifted from Iranian grounds. There were Irannian students on the plane, 176 people who all died for no reason. The government of the Islamic Republic killed all those people for nothing. And all the world did was light a few candles. They need to be held responsible for all these lives they are taking away. All these young people they are killing.
I know that this is long. I know that this is inconvenient. It’s upsetting and I get that but help is truely needed. People can’t keep dying for nothing. The government can’t keep getting away with everything. They have no one to answer to and they can do anything. They kill and torture and imprison. I am just asking people to educate themselves and maybe help spread the word. Go on Twitter and watch the videos if you can. I won’t put them on here because it may be too upsetting. There is blood, there is gunshot wounds, there is violence and there is terror.
Look, I know a good number of you are from the US and things aren't amazing there either, but my country is literally on the brink of collapse. So I'd love it if we could talk about that for a minute.
If you can't do anything else, please just read and reblog.
A second COVID wave has taken out the healthcare system. There are no more hospital beds. There's an oxygen shortage. There's a critical vaccine shortage. The Central Government has thrown its hands up and is passing the baton to the State Governments to do what they can.
There are over 16 million covid cases. A record 330,000 new cases reported yesterday - comparable to the US at its peak. 187,000 dead as of today.
There is no plan.
Mass cremations are taking place. The cremation grounds are running day and night and they are short on wood. People are watching their loved ones die while waiting for a hospital bed, and then they're unable to give them the proper burial rights.
Hospitals are overwhelmed. Patients are being confined, two to a bed. They're the lucky ones.
We are on the verge of people dying in the streets.
This is the second-most populous country in the world. The largest democracy. A country that encapsulates over 15,000 years of recorded human history and has endured everything from famine to invasion to colonisation.
We might be at the end. This might be the thing that does us in.
People are dying.
People are dying.
People are dying and there is no plan.
More good news? Variants are popping up. A double mutation strain has shown up. It is resistant to current vaccines. This will not go away. This is the devastation they warned of when the anti-maskers were out protesting the minor inconvenience of covering their face in public.
My country is on the verge of an emergency state. Our government has failed us. This is as dire a situation as it ever could be.
Look. I don't do much with my life. I write fics, some of you have read them and that's pretty much it. I spend my days with my head in the clouds because that's where I like to be.
But two days ago, my grandmother tested positive, had to be taken to hospital and the ambulance caught fire.
She barely made it to the urgent care she needs.
So, here I am, using whatever meager platform I have to cobble this request together. Because I have to do something.
If you can, donate.
Or spread the word.
Help. Please.
Chronic migraines. Dyslexia. ADHD. Autism. Vision impairment. Visual sensory processing disorder. Colorblind. & Neurotypical. Abled.
These are aspects of people that are affected by Discord’s new update to its color scheme and font, and there very well could be more I didn’t mention. Yes, you read it right, abled people and neurotypical people too. You are not immune to eyestrain.
A font which is both overly uniform and overly squished, with many letters that have essentially the same silhouette as others and could easily be flipped and look the same as another. ▻ This is dyslexic-unfriendly, as well as generally harder to read and an issue for people with visual impairments who may find that letters bleed together or that their eyes ‘skip’ over letters or words at times.
A color scheme that is so highly saturated that it both immediately draws your attention and also makes you want to immediately look away. ▻ This is generally unfriendly, affecting people with sensory issues the most (ADHD/Autism, migraines, processing disorders), but it’s also colorblind-unfriendly. Due to the differences between the colors being exclusively the part that changes the named color (hue; “green” vs “blue”) instead of both that and the colors being different intensities (saturation; “neon green” vs “leaf green”), they look practically identical.
Aren’t there more? No. This is pretty much all that was changed.
Discord changed TWO THINGS and pretty much managed to land every single person possible to genuinely hurt with a visual design change that doesn’t add or remove any elements. Including abled and neurotypical people!!!
Discord is currently a good number of people’s lifeline and way to connect with others. And with this change, they just made using their app hurt. They know that we can’t leave their app without leaving our friends and communities behind. They know that if they can just sweep this under the rug, they won’t have to do a thing.
...So we can’t let them.
It’s actually fairly simple. Discord was hemorrhaging money from its very conception. Discord only exists because investors think it’ll make money in the future. If Discord doesn’t do as well, investors will push to make it “better” or they’ll drop their funding. Discord was probably forced into this situation, they probably knew exactly what would happen.
We have to show their investors that Discord was right.

since the coup on 1 february, the military has become more and more violent, and it has turned the streets of myanmar a slaughter ground. unspeakable violence (the pictures i’ve been exposed to daily on my social media newsfeed are beyond heartbreaking and demoralizing — i can’t believe i’ve gotten so desensitized to seeing real-life sewn-up bodies and cut-off limbs). 71 innocent lives — that we know of — have been taken and over 1,700 people (as of now) have been unlawfully arrested and charged, including political leaders, activists, journalists and reporters, celebrities, and anti-coup protesters. the military terrorists wreak havoc in the streets at night, kidnap civilians, and return them in horrible, horrible conditions.
however, we will never yield. the more they try to beat us down, the stronger we will get back up. a lot of people around the country as well as myanmar citizens abroad are (peacefully) fighting back and resisting this cruel regime by spreading awareness online, participating in CDM, and protesting on the streets.
therefore, i would like to ask for donations towards organizations that are helping our civil disobedience movement (CDM) participants, frontline protestors, activists groups, as well as vulnerable people who are living in poverty and whose livelihoods are hit the hardest. just today, railway workers participating in the CDM movement are forced to pack up all their things in just two hours and leave the housings; these people are not just workers, they have families, young children, and elderly people with health issues, yet they all left with no hesitation to continue our fight for democracy.
so, friends and people from all corners of the world, if you have the financial means to, please consider helping and donating to our people who are risking their lives and their livelihoods to fight for basic human rights, freedom and democracy, not just for their own futures but for the future of many generations to come. please know that every single cent counts ! even just 1 usd (which is equivalent to about 1,400 mmk) is enough to fund for one meal in myanmar.
i know there are so many things going on in the world that need all our attention and support. what’s happening in myanmar is one of them! please consider donating and/or spreading awareness by boosting this post <3 thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart; your help is most deeply appreciated and you will always have my gratitude.
edit: i just found out that if you make posts with external links, the posts basically disappear from the tags. so, instead, i included screenshots with the websites where you can donate; they’re both trusted organizations but please dm me if you would like to have more information.

A 22 year old Iranian protestor is at risk of being sentenced to death. Please share.
22-year old Mohammad Qobadlu has been sentenced to death at his very first trial session, to which the court denied entry to his lawyers, and is imminent danger of execution, according to a video message released by his mother. HRANA reports Qobadlu was tried on Oct. 29 at the Public & Revolutionary Court of Tehran under Judge Salavati on charge of “corruption on earth.” Prosecutors allege he drove a vehicle into motorcycle-mounted law enforcement agents, killing one. Besides the grave due process violations mentioned by Qobadlu’s mother, lawyer Amir Raisian has raised violations and inconsistencies in the case: - No images exist depicting the incident, the collision, or the hospitalization of medical examination of the agents involved -Preliminary reporting did not mention head wounds to officers involved in the collision, but the deceased officer died of a strike to the brain and skull fracture. The extent to which hospital treatment may have contributed to the cranial injury is not mentioned. -The criminal complaint gives the cause of the officer’s death as a car collision, but lawyer Raisian’s sources indicate only a skull fracture - no bodily injuries - was detected. Special force officers typically wear helmets, moreover. -The forensic medical authority ascertained Qobadlu’s mental fitness / sanity only on the basis of his own statements, neglecting letters from prison authorities stating he was mentally “precarious.” -Authorities present at the mourning service for the deceased officer made comments that were “not consistent with the car collision death narrative” said lawyer Raisian.
so can we start hunting down white liberals now or what
