Child of the earth or Jerusalem cricket. This is Normally a nocturnal desert insect. I have only seen them twice in 17 years. An initially scary looking insect, they pose no threat to humans & are a fascinating creature.
They are not small & one of those engineering feats of nature.

Aspens turning yellow in the ski basin- in the distance. The Santo De Cristos mountains turn pink/red at sundown.
