luffy’s colours being white & red and zoro’s colours being black & green is so perfect to me.
white and black, they directly link to lightness and darkness. it relates to luffy’s relation to the sun god, his angelic gear 5 form, his vastly kind personality and unburdened joy. whereas that darkness relates to zoro’s sinister fighting style, ‘king of hell’ and the demonic references integrated from the beginning of his character to present. his capability for deadly aggression and more serious tone.
yet contrarily we have red and green. red, the colour of blood and fire, passion and warning, it is boldness as a colour, and often used in a way to represent urgency. like luffy, his goal steers his everyday, he is driven and determined, terrifying and powerful. his gear 5 red eyes sting in the memories of enemies, luffy is boldness and passion. and we have green; peace, nature and luck. zoro and his passiveness, his gentle relationship with the people he loves, his tendency to sleep through the day and protect when no one is awake. zoro has a distinct softness to him that, in my mind, is best described as mundane tranquility. zoro is green like grass swaying in the spring time breeze, he is peace.
they are opposites, they are two halves of a whole. where luffy is light and heaven, zoro is sinister and demonic. where luffy is danger, zoro is peace. they fit like a jigsaw, completing each other, while it is the fact they are opposites that allows them to fit so seamlessly.
luffy’s light and zoro’s green interact on a personal basis, gentle and happy, heaven and peace. luffy’s red and zoro’s darkness meet on the battlefield as unstoppable and terrifying allies, danger and hell.
their associated colours intertwine as perfectly as they do as characters, i really love it so much.
Hi! I really love your posts. I wanted to ask can you please go into more detail about how you think Lucy acts more hyperactive compared to Natsu when they are alone. You said that in an older post and I wanted to get your take on that in more detail because it makes sense and I never really thought about it until you said it!! Thank you so much!!
Of course!!!
Okey, so I want to start with this picture:
Natsu gets calm and relaxed arround Lucy, this is not a headcanon, or the fandom being delusional, it's straight up facts.
With a relaxed state of mind comes how one really behaves, and with Natsu, it's extremely obvious.
We can compare it to how he acts with everyone else in the guild versus Lucy (when they are alone)
Here he was alone with Gray FOR 3 DAYS, and the only thing they did was fight (I'm not saying they don't have a good relationship, they have a very healthy rivalry)
Gildarts:
Erza:
This second pic just shows how even erza knows that his first instinct would be to fight her given the chance:
Laxus:
And anyone in the guild really
Now, I know that the people I showed are people Natsu admires, people he wants to defeat in the future in a fair fight, but that doesn't mean he can't have real relaxing moments with them, for example, Erza. She is like his older sister and Natsu glorifies her, but he doesn't see her as someone he can relax with like he does with Lucy.
In other words, Natsu uses the guild to vent.
While Lucy is his safe place.
I, personally, believe that Natsu uses his fights in the guild to make a point. To make people see that he is reliable, that's why he keeps challenging the strongest guild members.
I'm not saying he doesn't think lucy is strong, he just doesn't WANT to fight her. Actually, not only he doesn't want to fight her, he can't, at least not willingly.
The guild does know that he is strong, they just remind him that he is just not there yet, he has the potential, but he needs time, and while this is true we have never seen Lucy doubt Natsu's strenght. She ALWAYS thinks that he is going to win, no matter what, no matter who he is against. Lucy completely believes that he will win no matter what.
Natsu uses his time with Lucy to actually relax, he doesn't see the necesity to fight Lucy, since she actually believes that he is the strongest, she has absolute blind and complete faith in Natsu, giving him what he actually needs, rest.
The reason why I say she seems more hyperactive compared to Natsu is not because she necessarily is, it's just that Natsu can actually relax with her, making her seem more hyperactive.
When both of them are relaxed, they look like a god damn family
Sorry for going all out with the pics, I just love them so much
Y’all don’t understand what I’m feeling right now. All that bothered Natsu when asked if Wendy was their kid was her hair color, he didn’t even try to correct the other guy that he and Lucy aren’t a couple and the fact that he didn’t say “if we were to have kids....” instead said “our kids...” makes me feel like he actually thinks they’ve been together for years. I can’t be normal about this.

More headcanons for Zolu as parents:
- No way Luffy is ever gunna stop being a pirate so neither will Zoro & they take the kids with them most places.
-When they think it might be too dangerous (usually decided by Nami lol) they drop 'em off at Granny Dadan's with no warning whatsoever & just a vague note pinned to their clothes about coming back for them "later". Later meaning anywhere from a couple of days to weeks or even months. They always come back to them with new toys too so they love staying with Granny.
- They're almost always barefoot. Luffy completely understands why they hate shoes, but Zoro tries to at least make em wear sandals when the weather is too cold or too hot. They're always losing em though.
- I think they'd have 2 kids at the most. Zoro cut em off at the 2nd because he's the one who primarily takes care of them as babies & he's over diapers! It's like that episode of SpongeBob when they take care of the clam.
- Speaking of Zoro, he's definitely the primary parent & having children brings out a different side to him. The crew nickname him "Mama Bear" because in his own way he's very careful with them & yes he does have a strange thing about stairs.
- Finally acknowledging his habit of getting lost he actually keeps the kids strapped to him majority of the time until they get old enough to follow him like baby ducks. This is very cute, but slightly concerning as he doesn't let them down even during a battle. Even foes have scolded him for this lmao.
- He puts a sword in their hands as early as possible & is super excited to have "students".
-He's never lost track of the kids, but has gotten lost WITH them a bunch of times. They think it's fun though so no skin off his back. Fortunately they didn't inherit his sense of direction & will lead them back once old enough.
-On the other hand, Luffy lost them once & it freaked him the fuck out. After that, he's noticeably more serious when left alone with them. He's even put those child leashes on them which they do not appreciate.
-Luffy likes to juggle his kids & toss them around like balls. He throws them up a lot higher than most people (even Zoro at times) are comfortable with, but they absolutely love being manhandled by him.
- He lets them mess with his stretchy body whenever they want & likes to go into balloon form so they can bounce on his tummy.
- They're the only ones he lets sit in his special seat with him on the Sunny's figurehead.
-They're also the only ones who can steal food from his plate & not piss him off. It's like a game to see how much they can take before they get caught.
- You might think these kids are completely unsupervised, but Zoro & Luffy are always using observation haki to keep an eye on them. If they're running around with blades & someone is about to get stabbed with a flying knife you can be assured Luffy's hand is stretching to stop it just in time. Or he's keeping them from falling off a ledge they get too close to. Or Zoro's attack hits an animal getting ready to pounce on them after they've accidentally ticked it off. Don't worry about them. They're the safest kids in the world.
-Zoro & Luffy don't really discipline or have restrictions for them at all. Luffy grew up in the woods & Zoro has always been feral so they don't understand why it wouldn't be ok for kids to be doing dangerous things. You want to run around with scissors? Cool. You want to play with these matches? Have at it kids. You want to go look for a local giant bear on this new island? Sweet, let's all go together!
- Whenever they do have to be strict it's almost always Zoro & very rarely. Luffy almost never gets them in trouble, but when he does you know it's serious because he never gets angry at them.
-These kids are powerhouses too. Stronger than any of their friends kids & akin to Ace when he was a child. Fearless too so they get themselves into sticky situations all the time.
- I think they have 1 girl & new people are always mistaking her for a boy because of how her dads dress her & the fact that she's a total tomboy. "I'm a girl! " is practically her catchphrase. Sanji is her favorite of her dads friends because he is the first person to know she was a girl from the get go & that made her really happy.
- Possibly the only kids in the world who never complain about nap time despite being super hyper. Zoro likes to be on their schedule so the 3 of them tend to just huddle together when it's time as Luffy watches over them. They'll sleep anywhere too! Sometimes Luffy feels left out so he'll join them & wrap his stretchy arms around everyone while they sleep.
-Zoro keeps his last name, but the kids get Luffy's. When they're old enough to realize their name is Monkey they go through a phase where they only want to act like literal monkeys. Luffy thinks this is hilarious & joins them on & off. They went through so many bananas during this time. Zoro is a patient man.
- They bathe as much as their fathers do which is not as often as they should. If Nami is traveling with them she makes them bathe every day, but most of the time they're kinda dirty & sticky tbh. Their daughter eventually starts caring more about being clean, but their son is fine with a layer of dirt on him.
- They often ride their dads' shoulders when exploring a new island so they don't get tired. Chicken Fights are frequent & very serious.
-Lastly, they teach them to swim very young & really well. Since Luffy is a DF fruit user they don't want to risk their lives if they ever fall in & only he is around. Eventually they're so good they are even able to fish out their dad together when he falls in himself. They're like little fishes.
luffy’s constant connections to anchors (e.g. his iconic anchor shirt, shank’s nickname for him) and him becoming an anchor for every strawhat.
he is definitely as good as an anchor in the sea, but he equally keeps his crew steady and afloat. for characters like zoro, brook and robin- they were aimless and simply going through the motions of life before him, like a boat would continue to sway on the open seas without one. their isolation was instantly lost with their admission into the crew, they had something to love and to anchor themselves to.
the way he gave his hat to nami in arlong park, supporting her as she fell into despair. he anchored her in quite a literal way and brought her back to him. for sanji, luffy refusing to eat in wci if it was not sanji’s food. even at the cost of himself, the wear of starvation, being in the center of enemy territory. he jumped completely into dark and scary waters to give sanji reassurance, he could not be the pirate king without him. for chopper in drum island, as luffy held up doctor hiriluk's flag when the connecting pole broke from explosion. for jinbe, as luffy’s offer to join his crew remained unconditional- a home that would not waver, to strive for. for every member in so many ways, whether small, monumental or everyday.
i would say that it even extends past the strawhats. my mind turns to sabo, ace, koby, bartolomeo, law, etc. every person he interacts with, he acts as an unmovable beacon of everything luffy. he is a brother, a friend, an ally, an enemy, an idol, all with such an unshakable certainty. he has the certainty of the sun, rising each morning and setting each evening, he has the certainty of an anchor.
even in his steady personality, he is assurance. there is very, very little that sways luffy, his smile is a guarantee as much as his kindness and support for others is. shanks was right, luffy is an anchor. what a wonderful anchor he is
Haha… yeah… that’d be crazy…
Ok here is the thing I’ve been thinking on: that old!Five and Five scene but with Vanya (not instead of Luther, it could be just a coincidence). Anyway, Luther and Five watching how Vanya is like “Please give us the suitcase, Five. Please? For me?” And Five being jealous of himself???
hmm, anon. okay.
(In a universe where maybe perhaps Five and Vanya threw down a little in 3x7 and my girl got her memories back. Maybe also in the universe of the lost myth of true love idk)
((Also I know the teenage five is technically the older five. Don’t fight me pls))
Luther throws an arm across Five’s chest to stop him from marching straight up to his former self. “Stop,” he half-shouts, wincing when the sound carries. “Look,” he begins again, voice lowered now that he has Five’s attention. “You’re.. you’re him. You’re going to freak him out stomping up to him like that.” He pauses, looking at Five, then at his smallest sister, who Five has kept half hidden behind him ever since the both of them had come tumbling into the alley where they were supposed to go back to the future.
Neither has truly told him what happened; when Luther questions the way Vanya seems to lean away from him, tiny hand wrapped around Five’s bicep, Five merely tells him that she has retrieved her memories. The tone of his voice discourages conversation, and Luther realizes that Vanya remembers the way he locked her in a cage. He doesn’t know how to apologize, not when he’s still unsure whether what he did was truly wrong, so he keeps his distance.
“One of us should go,” he finished, keeping his gaze on Vanya. He wants to include her in the conversation.
She smiles faintly at him, and he beams back. Progress. “I’ll go,” she volunteers, moving to circle Five.
Before she can take more than half a step, Five’s hand darts out, fast as lightening, gripping her wrist. “No,” he denies firmly. “You promised, remember?”
Luther doesn’t know what Vanya promised, but it’s enough for her to step back, tugging her hand from his grip and instead wrapping it around his arm. Five goes along with the movement gladly, a shadow of a smirk crossing his face.
Luther shrugs, approaching the older Five delicately. Soon enough, he beckons the other two forward.
And if he is thrown off by the murderous glare old Five turns on his teenage self, that is nothing compared to when Vanya peeks at them over Five’s shoulder.
“Vanya,” the old Five breathes, stepping forward. Luther watches the way he nearly drops the briefcase in awe, fumbling awkward before he takes another step. The way he is looking at Vanya is the way that Luther knows he’s looked at Allison, but somehow more reverent… more desperate… like a holy man who has gone without God for decades, only to see God rushing towards him like a brilliant sun. The realization hits Luther like a freight train, and there is only one question capable of running through his mind:
How long has Five been in love with Vanya?
“Hi, Five,” Vanya says shyly. “You look good.”
Old Five, the nervous, cold man who he had just spoken to, honest-to-god chuckles, stealing the space between them with another step. He is moving slightly to the right too, approaching her so that young Five is not directly between them. The younger version is watching him carefully, Luther notes, but the older one doesn’t seem to care.
“That picture in your book didn’t do you justice, sweetheart,” old Five says gently. “You look radiant.” He’s not too close to her, yet, but he still lifts a shaking hand, like he is reaching for her face. Like he is already imagining the sensation of her skin against his.
“Oh, well,” Vanya replies, takes a tiny step toward him, “I finally got off my pills-“
The step is evidently, literally, a step to far, and young Five arches his shoulders in a move that Luther now recognizes as his ’I’m gonna kill you’ pose. “That’s enough,” he grits out, dropping Vanya’s hand from his arm and instead circling that arm around her waist, pulling her against him. “We didn’t come here for this. This isn’t yours yet, old man.”
Old Five arches a brow. “I rather think it is not yours yet. What are you, thirteen…?”
Vanya rolls her eyes in a show of emotion that Luther is completely shocked by, breaking free from young Five and taking two large steps to come to stand in front of old Five. The man is obviously hyperventilating at her proximity, and she raises her arms cautiously.
“This okay?” She asks. He nods vigorously, and she wraps her arms around him.
He holds her back, breathing her in with his eyes wide open, intent on his younger self. “Now, angel, tell me why you’re here, and I’ll help the best I can.”
Young Five growls. “She doesn’t need your help,” he hisses. “Vanya, you can’t trust him, c’mon, you know I’m the one-“
Vanya cuts him off. “He’s you, Five. Of course I trust him.”
Young Five looks like he doesn’t know what to do with that, but there is a faint blue glow in his eyes, and Luther realizes this could go ugly. Fast.
“Okay guys, for now, we’re trying to save the world. Maybe we can chill out?”
Both the Fives grumble, and Vanya takes a step back. She looks nervously at Luther. “Is this the Paradox Psychosis?”
Luther doesn’t think so, but he doesn’t tell Vanya that. No need to let her know that he’s seen jealousy, he’s seen to men on the verge of killing each other over something precious, and this is definitely that. “I think maybe you should sit on my side of the booth,” he says kindly, and she nods after shooting a long look at young Five.
“If you touch her again, Luther…” He trails off, ignoring the old Five’s indignant questions about what the hell he means.
“Noted,” Luther agrees, and they slide into the booth.
Vanya leans forward, smiling softly at old Five. “It’s about your briefcase,” she begins softly, “and how you get back to me.”
From the rapt look in older Five’s eyes, and the burning jealousy in the other’s, Luther thinks they probably have this in the bag.
Well, as long as homicidal rage doesn’t exacerbate the fact that both Fives seem like they could happily skin each other if it meant getting to hold his powerful little sister’s hand.
oh captain my captain
It's actually depressing to do things in your own time, way and opinion. Mostly because people often disagrees with you and they prefer to do what's more popular now, and if you don't follow the trend, you're just a weirdo trying to fit in. A block in a jigsaw puzzle. But don't let it bring you down. There are still people who will accept you for who you are.
